Let's start with the good stuff. The atmosphere is great. It's a little cramped between tables, but not terrible.
The cinnamon roll was awesome! Absolutely delicious. Warm, gooey, the right amount of icing. *Chef's kiss*
The chicken of the country fried chicken was also good. Tender, juicy, nice crunch in the crust. Gravy isn't overly sausage-y, but pairs well.
Now, the not as great. Our server told us about the home fries, and they sounded delicious. Red potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and peppers, deep fried then roasted. Yum! But in reality, meh. The potatoes (especially the sweet potatoes) were mushy. The peppers and onions were finely diced, almost like they were just a bag of frozen peppers and onions. Also, I didn't have it, but my friend had The Usual, and it was all around meh. The turkey bacon looked gross.
The real loser of the day though was the drinks. We started with a mimosa bucket. Now, I'm a brunch regular, and I don't expect really nice champagne with a bucket, it's fine. What they actually brought though was barely even champagne. It tasted like sparkling Pinot Gris (woth a screw top, if that tells you anything).
I muscled through, and then ordered a smoked old fashioned. This was a mistake. Presentation made it clear from a distance that I made a mistake, with the handful of ice cubes in it, and the bright red maraschino cherry. And the taste was not any better. It honestly tasted like they put liquid smoke in the drink. I love a smoked old fashioned, but somehow this was too smoky for me.
Overall, it was generally a meh experience, and I am unlikely to give it a second chance.
