The Best Sports Bars in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

Whitehall Tavern - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"For Buffalo Bills Fans You’ll find Whitehall Tavern in a shopping plaza in Buckhead that also houses a Publix and a Starbucks. It’s an odd location for a tavern, but the absurd amount of TVs and reliable bar food has earned them a loyal fan base. On football Sundays, the place is overrun with Buffalo Bills fans—seriously, you’ll be lucky to find a seat once the game starts. There’s a modified “game day” menu with nachos and a Bierhaus Pretzel, which are predictable (but also justified) hits. When the Bills play well, join in on an adapted version of “Shout” by the Isley Brothers, in which the lyrics say something about the Bills winning—and yes, the whole bar does sing along. If they lose, well, you can still enjoy a beer and a burger and reminisce with fellow die-hards. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Don’t bother with this dump of a restaurant, at lunch, the only redeeming qualities is Casey, the server, and cold beer. The food was a total joke! I spent $35 on a grill salad with lettuce and a few sad shreds of carrots and celery, and 2 cold adult beverages. What a total rip-off! Totally disappointed! New to the area and still figuring out where to go and where not to go for lunch. Don’t waste your time, I feel like I got pranked! 3 stars on the atmosphere bc I sat outside just after a storm and was welcomed with an influx of flies, that's on me, I was warned, (thanks Casey) outside fans will help, guess you could say I was fly bait! 😂😂

Google
Finally made it in - and it was pretty decent bar food. The service was quick, burger was cooked to order, and the fries were the highlight. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is the wings. The wings were definitely on the pricey side ($17 for 10). With that price, I would expect them to be fantastic, but they were just decent. The chicken quality was good, and they were decently crispy, however they use a runny wet sauce and not only does it not stick great to the wing, but they definitely do not lather it on. Due to the lack of sauce, you get mostly the taste of chicken wings lacking seasoning. You are able to ask for more sauce on the side, and that definitely helped, but you will get charged extra for it. Overall I would go back, but I'd definitely stick with the burgers and fries!

Google
I ordered the Cajun Pasta, and my server recommended the chili as an appetizer—both were excellent. The service was just as impressive as the food. My server was friendly and attentive, and I really appreciated how the entire team backed each other up to keep everything running smoothly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, which makes the experience even better. Definitely one of my new go-to spots. I’ll be back again soon!

Came here for Game 4 of the NBA Finals and the staff were incredibly accommodating to me and my group of friends. 10/10 experience would recommend to anyone in the area looking for good food and great atmosphere. Also very family friendly!

Google
Jackie was our amazing server and bar tender and so nice and attentive. Wow! My wife and I drifted in on Thursday. She has a salt issue and was so happy that she could order the homemade chips without salt. I haven't been here in over 20 years. The food is amazing and the vibe is great! We just moved back in the neighborhood and will be coming here often. Thanks Jackie for an amazing experience!!!

Google
In the south,a defining dish is the devil egg. It serves as a metric for a chef/restaurant. Excellent taste and presentation. Piped deviled egg yokes with homemade bacon bits with a slight hint of vinegar sitting in what looked like parsley but told was arugula. A ten rating. The burger is a high-end execution of an Atlanta burger and does not disappoint. Would like to see the prices come down, especially with the market moving into bear territory. Great product though; would hate to see it disappear post pandemic price gouging. Happy hour helps a little.

Yelp
came here about an hour before the bills played. this is a BILLS BAR. heavy on that we got the wings, house salad, and buffalo chicken nachos. loved the salad and the wings weren't incredible but hit the spot for sure! buffalo nachos could have used more queso but i liked the concept. solid spot to watch sports

Yelp
This was a great experience on their giant patio. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful and attentive and all the service was fast. We thought we had to pay via the QR code, and found out after doing so that they also let you pay in a traditional way, so I would do that next time to avoid the extra processing fee. We split the dirty bird chicken sandwich and Cobb salad and both were good bar food. They have a large selection of drafts, wine and cocktails, though our drinks seemed a bit pricey for a casual place. We'll definitely be back if we're in the neighborhood. There's ample parking in this shopping center too, which was nice.

Yelp
Wanted to watch the NFL games and chill out and ran into this place. Driving up you'll see the Whitehall sign above but it's below...behind the building. There's seating outside and plenty inside. Walking inside there music playing and seat yourself. There's a regular menu or QR Code on the table. The waitress walked over and took our drink or fast. I'll say this though....we were sitting there for awhile....other people sat down after us and got there food way before we even ordered food. We waited on the waitress for some time and she was taking orders all over the place. Pretty sure she forgot about us....but that's what happened. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger tacos and fries. Bacon Cheeseburger Tacos were ok and same as the fries. If you're in the area swing by....

Yelp
Overall this is a very good sports bar. They are a Buffalo Bills bar, so if you go when the Bills are playing it will definitely be rowdy. For food I ordered 6 bone-in wings and two sauce split (habanero blackberry and hot honey) which I saw on the menu was $2.50 upcharge. I was fine to pay that, but apparently, the kitchen will not do two sauce split on 6 wings, only 10+ wings, so gave me naked wings with both sauces on the side and still charged me the $2.50. Was not stoked about this, but the wings and sauces themselves were extremely tasty. The habanero blackberry flavor was delicious, but not that spciy. Fries are not included and cost about $5 on the side, but they are very tasty. Overall I definitely recommend it for a fun sports bar, but know it will get rowdy. Also huge free parking lot!!

Yelp
Whitehall Tavern is a friendly neighborhood sports pub in Buckhead. I like to say that their food is better than it needs to be - definitely a cut above typical bar food. Recently their kitchen frier vent had to be replaced. It's taking them a while to get the equipment they need because of supply chain issues so they are serving a limited menu. But the stuff on this simple menu is great! I highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Still, because of the small menu, some of the customers have been dissatisfied - some have been downright rude! (So you can't have french fries - grow up!) A bartender told me that their business has dropped off. If you're anywhere near Buckhead, I encourage you to visit Whitehall. The staff is friendly and the beer is cold. Jackie can make a mean Lemon Drop. If you go, tell 'em Richard sent you.

Yelp
Would NOT advise going here! Birthday celebration totally ruined by lack of a kitchen!!! Menu had maybe 12 items and none of them cooked!!! The hamburgers were cooked somewhere else and heated up in a microwave so could only be served well done! Server was rude and the kicker - Chicken Salad had halopenos which they didn't bother to tell us and my sister who is not allowed spicy foods was terribly sick all night... Who expects hot peppers in their chicken salad?!?!?!

Will N.

Yelp
Do NOT recommend. Rude staff, poor service, food was way overpriced, and there's no way their sanitation rating cannot be above 90. Find another spot.

Yelp
I checked the reviews on Google and it was a high 4 stars plus however I did not check my go to Yelp app. When we arrived, I was a little skeptical by its appearance because it was full of dirty tables and food on the floor. I looked around and saw only 1 bartender and 1 waitress so I gave some grace but still cautious. One great thing is that it is full of tvs and every game was playing. So that was an awesome plus for them. We sat and waited for the one waitress to come over and she was nice and knowledgeable, she gave honest opinions on what to get and what to stay away from. We ordered wicked weed as our beers, wings and nachos for the food. The wings were cooked just right however the nachos were lacking. The cheese was on the bottom and when they arrived the cheese was a little cold and chips were stuck together. I'm on the fence about going back just because of the appearance. I didn't go in the restroom however bae said they were okay. Maybe....maybe not!!

Yelp
Stop here to check it out and we were not disappointed! The food was very good the atmosphere was great they had baseball, soccer and golf on the TVs! Our server was wonderful and perfectly attentive and we also got checked on by others as well which I felt was very pleasant! I noticed they do trivia so I will definitely be back :) If you're looking for a nice tavern with good food check it out !!

Yelp
From my brief visit here, John Taffer is the only thing that could save this place... trash/food/and candy all over the floor, saw a staff member eating leftovers from finished table, roach crawling on the wall, and to top it off the draft beer selection was mediocre af, can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Donttt recommend.

Yelp
Horrible and Incompetent Waitress We're party of three went there for early dinner on Sunday. After we sat down at the booth in the back. We asked for paper menu and that waitress who dressed up like a "witch" told us to scan the bar code on the table. I asked her one more time for a paper menu and she said "just use your phone to scan the code". She refused to give us a menu and argued with me! I had to walked 15 steps to get a menu myself which the menu was on the other table. She shouldn't be working as a waitress if she is that lazy to get the menu for customers! She was rude, obnoxious and incompetent. This waitress who dressed up like a Witch should be fired!

Yelp
Food: went for happy hour to get half price apps. Great food at a great price. Apps included nachos, trip dip, chicken tenders, blue chips, and fried pickles Service: fast service. They have a mobile payment option that makes it easy to split checks if you're with a large group
google avatar

Yelp
Happy they have a big patio, so my pup can enjoy dinner with us. Three are fully covered, in case if rains. Hubby ordered tossed tenders in Buffalo sauce. He enjoyed the heat and flavor. I got their hummus. It's a family recipe. Did not disappoint! Pita was delicious as well. Also ordered boneless wings with bbq. Amazing flavor. We'll be back for sure. Nice staff. Cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Bad service we waited 20 minutes to get seated, then we saw other people come on after us being served. At that point we knew it wasn't a staffing issue... i had not been to this place in 15 years and now I know why this place is slow dated and sucks in ambiance. I wish there was more I could day but after I tried to order a drink and they didn't have my first or second choice we left. Also to note I had to get my own menu's... It's a hard no for me as far as coming bk. Bar Rescue here they come!!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick late weeknight bite to eat after getting my hair done next door at Junko. It was getting close to closing time but I still ordered a gin and tonic and some wings to munch on since I was going off an empty stomach since lunch. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Wings, which were pretty tasty to my empty stomach, although they weren't anything super special. I wish I had read other reviews before because some of the wings were overly salty, while others were just about right. Overall, food was a-ok, and went well with my drink, although since the wings were a bit salty for my taste, I should have ordered a beer to down them with, instead!

Yelp
Came for the Thursday night trivia! My boyfriend and I had a blast. Great food and beer. I tried the lamb burger which was surprisingly very good. The bill ended up being a little higher than expected, but no worries.

Yelp
Whitehall Tavern on Peachtree Road in Atlanta is a great place to go for delicious burgers, drinks, and much more. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have here where you can relax and enjoy everything. The staff here is very friendly and provides excellent service.

Yelp
This was my first time going to Whitehall tavern. It's a buffalo bills bar and had low expectations as it's a bar and it's game day. However I had a less than stellar experience. The service was incredibly slow, which I understood because it's game day and the bar was full. However everything was mediocre at best. The food took forever to come out, I'm guessing it was sitting in the back because it was also cold and soggy when it was delivered. We ordered fries and bone in chicken wings. The chicken wings were incredibly tiny, ESPECIALLY for the price of them (10 wings for $16.95) The server forgot our drinks multiple times and just didn't seem to care. I probably will not come back to this bar. The servers name is Taylor.
google avatar

Keila K.

Yelp
Treated myself to lunch here cause I was craving this burger. Don't sleep on the Beyond Burger y'all. It's amazing! And the fries? So yummy. I would've liked more seasoning on them but it is what it is. And this time I sat at the bar. There were decent amount of people in here; Mainly older people like senior citizens so I guess they like this place too. My bartender was attentive with me and the other guests so no notes on that. I like this place.

Yelp
Went for Trivia night. Pictured is A classic American Burger. The photo does the burger no justice ! The burger was huge and the quality of the angus was amazing.

Yelp
First time here it was a great experience. I ordered the jammin burger which was delicious.

Yelp
Came to Whitehall for trivia this past Wednesday. Food was fair, but trivia was not as fun as other places in Atlanta to play. Questions were difficult it made it less enjoyable
google avatar

Casey B.

Yelp
Very good boneless Buffalo chicken wings and fries. Great place to watch a Bills game.
google avatar

Juliet S.

Yelp
I recently went there with my family to watch a bills game and we had the best time. The bar was the absolute best place to watch a bills game with bills mafia. The food was very yummy and came out fast. Definitely recommend the wings. Despite the fact that the bar was packed, our waiter got our drinks and food to us quickly and checked on us at least 7 times during the night. They make an effort to keep the vibes fun and energy high, playing great music during commercial breaks and the bills anthem after every touchdown. We will definitely be coming back for every game. Glad I learned about this place.

Chandler P.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Great food, people, service, and drinks - the chicken tenders & fries with their homemade honey mustard are my comfort food
google avatar

Caitlin E.

Yelp
Took my family here for a Buffalo Bills game. Great atmosphere and great service! If you're going for a game, I recommend getting there early to grab a table. They make great bloody Mary's. The food is good, too! I definitely plan on coming back

Yelp
Needing someplace to grab a bite late, we showed up here at Whitehall Tavern just after 11 pm for a quick bite. Neither of us drank, so the bar wasn't a draw for us, but fried snacky snacks were, and we ordered the following to share: Bleu Chips ($8.95) Lemon pepper wings 6 piece ($7.95) Hummus with fried cauliflower ($7.95) So let's talk about the good: The Bleu chips, while salty, were VERY good. These bleu chips came with house made bleu cheese dressing, applewood smoked bacon, diced tomato and onions, and of course, chips. This thing was a mound of whoa, and between the two of us, we finished a good chunk of it. I don't know that i'd order this again, but if I came with a friend again, i'd happily steal a chip or two! The lemon pepper wings were nice and crispy, but the flats were also salt bombs. The bleu cheese and celery were requirements here just to cut through the salt. I had 3 of the 6, and again, very crispy, but very salty. The not so good: The hummus, which comes with fried cauliflower, was actually on the other spectrum of flavor, being very bland. You'd think i'd need that from all of the salt, but I do like a little flavor in my hummus. The cauliflower, which actually were a side to accompany the hummus, were the better snack of the two. We sat outside and customer service was slow. It took several minutes to even get water, and we never got silverware. My girlfriend ultimately went to the bar to ask for some after heading to the restroom, and the bartender was dumbfounded that we were not given any silverware, before apologizing. Located in the peachtree battle shopping center, Whitehall is reached before you reach the nearby publix. Parking can be tough right in front of the restaurant, but there's several parking spots all over the place. You may just have to walk a bit. Whitehall isn't terrible. We actually enjoyed two of the three dishes, although some of them were very salty. Between the customer service and just the inability to nail flavors the way we'd like, it's just an okay place for now, though we may be back. Give it a shot if you need a late night bite!
google avatar

Shan S.

Yelp
I ordered the Cajun Pasta with Salmon cooked to absolute perfection! Seasoned just right and came out piping hot! Ordered a Dos Equis to wash this bad by down and left feeling like a stuffed turkey when I left! The garlic bread was delicious as well how could I forget to mention that! Overall we had a great experience the only drawback was the waiter:( maybe he had too many tables but he was not welcoming at all! I'll come back though and try something else off the menu...nice vibe and they have outside seating!!!
google avatar

Ashlee B.

Yelp
For me, one of the major things Atlanta is missing to make it a terrific city is dive bars. Although Whitehall isn't a dive bar, it is perhaps as close as you'll get in most neighborhoods throughout the city. Plenty of space to spread out at the bar, their tables set on two levels inside, or their patio in the Peachtree Battle shopping center. Some of their food is pretty typical bar food, but other options are housemade and actually quite impressive. I love the house-made hummus served with warm pita and veggies. The mac and cheese is also great, as is the pretzel. Their beer selection is quite impressive. I'm not a beer drinker but they always have a handful of local cider options which I really appreciate. Their wine list is also quite good for a bar. I may not go out of my way just for a trip to Whitehall, but if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a casual spot for drinks and some bar food, Whitehall is it.

Tamira M.

Yelp
Great spot in the Buckhead area to watch The Ohio State Buckeyes football games. The food menu is decent & includes your typical bar bites. The bartenders do a nice job mixing up refreshing cocktails. Ask for Roderick or Jackie to show their mixologist skills. There's plenty of both inside & outside seating and tv screens throughout. There's a game area too. Free parking is available in shopping center parking lot. This isn't the Buckeyes official Alumni Club's game watch spot, but it's a nice & convenient back-up location that I enjoy along with other alum.

Rico O.

Yelp
I want be coming back to this place ever again which sucks cause I've been eating here for the last year...... Supporting the plaza walking distance from our house, how ever on my resented visit with my family our kids had outside food from near by Publix And one of the staff came out. Telling us we couldn't eat or order from the outside sitting area.. would be understandable if we brought food inside but this was table seating outside , you would think they want to have as many satisfied customers as possible, being cov19 slowing things down. Over all food is good service not always the best .

Anna E.

Yelp
Picked up my to go order late so it was cold. They made me an entire new meal to make sure it was hot. Best customer service and great wings!!
google avatar

Molly C.

Yelp
NEW WAITER FRANKIE D did so great! Our crew usually comes here weekly (and has terrible service, lack of attention, etc) and this was the BEST week we have been. Frankie got our orders in quickly, helped our late arrival, and was so efficient. So glad Whitehall has Frankie D. We'll happily be back next week!

Claire R.

Yelp
Wanted to stop in for a drink before a concert. Went up to the bar, asked if we could order drinks before sitting down, and the bartender said we needed to order with our server. Sat down, and no one ever came. We tried to wave some people down and grab some waiters attention, but no one came over to greet us. We finally left after waiting 15 minutes with no greeting
google avatar

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
I ordered a fried chicken sandwich, and what they considered "fried" was an oversized, soggy piece of chicken with half of it not even in the bun and skin that fell right off... this was my second time coming here and the people I came here with got food that was cold. The service was also very slow and we were left wondering where our server had been. Pretty sure I would not come here again. Gross

Yelp
Spent a couple of hours at Whitehall Tavern on Saturday evening. Sat at the bar. Staff was friendly. They have a lot of big tv's throughout, so this is a great place to watch a game. They have a great beer and wine selection. And the menu is definitely a step up from regular bar food. I ordered the chili dog and fries. Both were good and really inexpensive. Outside there are also televisions and I noted people sitting with their kids. And I even saw a dog. This is great because I am always looking for a place where I can grab a decent glass of wine while my kid and I eat dinner. I'll definitely be back.

Meagan H.

Yelp
This is me and my friends regular spot!! We love it here!! If you like greasy food and a fun "hole in the wall" kind of environment, this is THE place

Merritt W.

Yelp
It's a place great if you like kids running around while you enjoy cocktails. Unbelievable how many people think bringing your kids to a bar is exceptable

Yelp
I am so glad I discovered this place I've lived here for about six years I have never ever gone I am so happy we went I thought we didn't have a cool sports bar by my house but now I now I do is I love the inside decorations the vibe the bartenders were super super friendly and knowledgeable about the air and very attentive I cannot wait to go back

Yelp
This UK Alumni bar was so much fun! The basketball game was to start at 8pm and we got there just before tip off. We made our way to the back seating area, party of 7! The server helped us manage getting chairs and tables together, it was a packed restaurant. Once seated we had a view of atleast 15 TVs. Drinks and apps were ordered, Rose for me and beer for the rest of my friends. Also ordered was Fried Pickles, Nachos and Chicken Fingers. They came out piping hot and really fast. As far as bar food goes, I was pretty happy and sampled a little of everything. UK lost the game, but I would be back again for sure. Good food, friends and atmosphere for a game.

Yelp
Fun sports bar. Nathan was great. Buffalo Chicken salad and chicken wings go well with a Ballast Point Brew Sculpin.

Yelp
My love for WT just keeps getting better. As I've gotten to know more of the staff (hi, Frank and Leah and Adrienne!) and as they keep serving delicious (and in some cases new) dishes with great service. This update is to let you all know of a few things. In no particular order . . . The tilapia in any dish will now be grouper. No longer will there be mozzarella sticks as they decided not to buy them (note: one of the few items not made in-house) and not to alternately make them in-house. Note: if you get the combo app, which used to be mozz sticks, wings (your choice of flavor) and chicken fingers, now you can choose an extra finger or two wings. The club sandwich, which I hadn't tried til recently, is delicious and definitely splittable! They are adding/featuring more "specials"- a grouper dish, etc. Justin told me about a few more menu changes (the new menus haven't been printed but most of the changes are in effect) - so ask your server! Also, how I missed this I do not know, but during happy hour, about half their apps, including the tasty quesadilla and delicious hummus, are half-price. That's what we had last night and thoroughly enjoyed. If you don't like "loud," you may not want to go on Tuesday trivia night. All in all, everyone who works there is great and Dallas and Brett are doing a super job running the show and continuing to make the place a go-to spot in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
This is a great local spot that's perfect for watching the game or just chilling out with a beer. Really good burger and some of the best tater tots I've ever had. Absolutely will be going back and will be a go-to for football season.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch today. This was our first time at the Tavern. The food and service was good. Nothing extraordinary-We had the Scotch Eggs (they were my favorite part of the meal) wings 1/2 hot & half lemon pepper (they were good but not amazing) we had 3 salads the wedge, big house and grilled buffalo chicken salad and the grilled chicken sandwich. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. I plan to return and explore the menu more, I imaging the entrees will be good too!
google avatar

Yelp
This evening my husband and I revisited the local tavern hoping this "business " would clean up their act. We live on West Wesley. My husband PUSHED me to give it another try. After ordering two drinks and an appetizer minding our own business the manager "Jackie"was overtly rude to us. They obviously do not care how they treat people. This joint has crashed and burned for the very last time. Someone needs to take a coarse in hospitality!
google avatar

Yelp
12-29-18 update. Well, that's it for here. Only one bartender and we ordered from a table. Waitress walked by three times and said she was waiting on the bar. Meanwhile, he served people who came to sit at the bar including doing a shot w some guy before he even poured my beers that I ordered before that guy even walked in. Bartender Mack is only good thing about this place. Go to the Elbow Room - they know pub bar service. Old post: I would love this place but their policy is no fighting sports on TV at any time. No boxing, no UFC even when i was there at literally midnight on a Saturday night to watch UFC. They said it is something about families. Boxing and UFC? What do they think their kids are doing on video games.

Daniel H.

Yelp
The food and environment was good. A nice sports bar, restaurant. What made the visit was the server David. He was fast, ran around everywhere doing his best. The place seemed understaffed. If you are patient and love sports this is a good place to visit.

Yelp
Ordered takeout at the bar. Good food and fast. If you go between two and four you're in and out quickly. Very pleasant.
