"Owned by goop friend Holly Williams, this old-time mercantile occupies an abandoned filling station, which adds to the overall effect. Here, you’ll find a smattering of groceries, plus irresistible home goods, from cookbooks to candles to linens, and a small but mighty beauty section, which conveniently includes the goop organic skin-care line. There's a second location in Franklin."

11 Best Shops in Nashville | Condé Nast Traveler

"For that true Nashville vibe, head to White’s Mercantile. Owner Holly Williams is a descendant of music royalty—her father is Hank, Jr., and she's an accomplished musician in her own right—and she stocks the shop with a little bit of everything: clothes, kids' toys, home decor, paper goods, and treats for your canine friends. There’s a certain Americana energy that pulses through White’s, filled as it is with Williams’ favorite finds from around the country when she is out on tour. Look for creative pop-ups with popular designers in the parking lot." - Kristin Luna, Margaret Littman

This is not a welcoming environment., Me and my husband came in today. They never greeted us. They spoke to other customers. We had questions on some items. When we walked up to the register they looked the other way. I told my husband let’s go we’ll stick to the Greenhills location.

Google
Great selection of product. Amazing staff, and INCREDIBLE online customer service when I had an issue with my order. Would recommend to anyone.

Google
If you are looking for truly functional kitchen wares and home goods, then White's is not what you're looking for. It is a much better store for finishing touches and more decorative pieces rather than highly functional. This is true for many of the new stores who are catering to mainly a younger population. If I could give half stars, then I would give White's 3.5 as there are some nice items, but if you need functional kitchen or home essentials then go to a kitchen store. Parking is limited in the lot in front and there is always on street parking that you pay for.

Google
NOT MANY NASHVILLE SPECIFIC ITEMS. I came assuming to find cute Nashville inspired gifts but most items were just unique random things. Great place to shop for a white elephant.

Adela Bledea

Google
Great location with plenty of gift items to choose from if you're visiting Nashville.

Google
Unique love of all things country, moonshine cologne to baby gifts.... you are going to want to visit this location, capturing all the murals along the street. Keep your eyes open :)

Google
Love browsing this store on Nashville weekends. They always have something that catches my eye! Great place for a souvenir, gift for a friend, or yourself :) Their big range of prices leaves something for everyone. It looks especially nice with the Amelia's flower truck parked outside!

Google
Loved this shop! Great for gifts! Some things are a bit expensive (I discovered a really cool eye mask for $32). Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
If you're looking to elevate any space, shop for h to r perfect gift, baby outfits/toys/books and some really cool apparel? This is your shop. This store was an absolute dream to shop in. They have everything! I will say they have a ton of great gift ideas for that person that is really difficult to buy for. Amazing shop to definitely check out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Super neat place, but VERY expensive. They have a lot of cool things and local stuff, but I honestly thought there was way more from descriptions and pictures. Love the building. No customer service. Employees just stayed behind the counter or were talking to each other. No one was greeting customers or seeing how you were doing while shopping in the store.

Yelp
So glad we stopped here on our vacation. Lots of cute home and kid stuff. Really liked the style and merchandising.

Yelp
Tonight was my first stop here. It is a place that has everything I want but don't necessarily need. If you are looking for a gift or you just want to treat yourself to something nice (or even a nice small thing) then this is the place for you. They had so many gifts for men! Soaps, candles, grooming supplies for that bearded man in your life, journals, jackets, button down shirts, and messenger bags. They will be some of the nicest and most memorable gifts you could get him. The two employees working there tonight couldn't have been more helpful and nice. I always appreciate that! Check this place out and make it a must stop the next time you are having a hard time buying a gift. Definitely this is the place for a gift for "the person who has everything" and it makes me think of that line from Love Actually where she says "I don't want something I need. I want something I want."

Yelp
White's Mercantile is a perfect spot for shopping if one is needing a birthday gift, holiday presents, or just a day of fun spending! They offer a variety of household items, cookware and local food items, clothing, accessories, and everything in between. Their staff is also very knowledgeable about inventory and very kind. I called ahead to check on the inventory of a specific hat, which to my surprise they had it! Not only did the receptionist kindly find the item, she set it aside for the time it took me to drive over. I highly recommend them for all shopping needs!

Yelp
perfect place for touristy souvenirs that are actually appealing. prices can be high but expected for a shop of its kind.

Yelp
This shop is lovely! We spent quite some time exploring its every nook and cranny. They have something for every one here. There were men's shirts, ladies clothing, fabulous shoes, adorable gifts, books / journals, candles, and jewelry, cookbooks, things for the kiddos, the list goes on! Plus, lots of nods to Nashville + southern life with really nice souvenirs. My friends landed on a gorgeous delicate gold necklace. I found some fab soaking salts and face masks that will make great holiday season gifts. Outside they had a couple additional vendors set up, including a beautiful old refabbed truck filled with flowers to build your own bouquet.

Yelp
4-5 stars for the cute shop and lovely products/merchandising. 0 stars for the two girls working there, standing at the counter. They never stepped outside the counter, never said hello when we entered OR when we were shopping about, and they literally seemed annoyed when I went up to the counter to purchase. There was only one other person in the shop at the time, so it wasn't as though they were busy helping others. FYI - I visited on 3/17/21.

Yelp
I was slightly dragged in here by my wife and thought it would be one of those places where I just had to wait it out. One of those places where she gets lost in the candles and I'm checking my phone. I was dead wrong, this was a great local shop with all kinds of cool, southern, hipstery-Nashville style things. Loved all the unique candles, although a tad on the pricey side. The kitchen area is full of all kinds of cool gift ideas, as was the main area. My main memory of this shop will be that it's the store housing literally the softest dress shirt I've ever touched in my life. As soon as I touched it I realized I must have it. But instead, that $155 per shirt price tag helped keep my wallet securely in my back pocket. Fun to look around in here and loads of local gifts if that's what you're looking for.

Yelp
White's Mercantile is a modern-day version of a General Store with a wide array of items for the hipster's delight. Owned by singer/songwriter Holly Williams (daughter of Hank Williams, Jr) she also obviously has a great eye for the appealing. There is a location in 12 South and one in downtown Franklin. I've been to both and they are great! They have men's and women's apparel, jewelry and accessories, bath and body products, homegoods like candles, kitchen items, cookbooks, greeting cards and stuff for the young ones. The store also has some Nashville-made items, so these make perfect gifts for anyone from out of town. They have something in here for everyone, which is why I would definitely recommend shopping here.
google avatar

Corrie S.

Yelp
Enjoyed this shop! They have free, 1 hour parking, unlike a lot of shops around the area. So don't worry about having to find a parking spot. The shop is really cute. Lots of items that would be perfect for a gift. We popped into try and find a gift for our friends back in CO. It's a fun shop to walk around. Loves their home section, lots of fun dishes and glasses.

Yelp
Such a neat little shop in the 12South neighborhood. A lot of great craft items including home decor, foods and clothing / accessories. I bought a pair of new sunglasses here (brand called Nectar) and they were half off retail price of $48. It was a great deal! What got this place a 5 star rating was the staff. When I checked out they removed the tags from the glasses AND CLEANED THEM FOR ME! Was totally not expecting that and it was such a nice little touch that put my experience here over the top!
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
I think I was charmed by this little shop when I first moved to Nashville, but now upon living here for several years I just find it kind of ridiculous. Example? When I was in the shop this weekend they had a sweatshirt for sale. It had Nashville stitched in cursive across the shoulder seam and it was $160. This store is really overpriced, and it was so crowded when we were in there that my husband immediately said he would just wait for us outside. I'll be honest - I'm one of those locals that doesn't go to certain parts of town that have just become tourist spots. 12 South is definitely in that category. I really only go if someone is visiting who wants to explore it. And this store definitely seemed like it was for tourists who wanted a Nashville shopping experience. But, for me, it's really over-priced and filled with way too much product for the space. A hectic shop that I doubt I could find anything in anymore. But I'm pretty cheap, so take this review with that grain of salt.

Yelp
White's Mercantile is the place to visit for some fine Nashville-made gifts. Many things in the store are on the pricier side but there are definitely some affordable items. I have previously purchased cards, kitchenware, and ornaments--and all of the recipients of these gifts LOVED them! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Visiting White's Mercantile is a fun thing to do on a Sunday afternoon after getting your fill of BBQ and paletas!
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
One of the cutest markets around town! I swing by whenever I need a gift or something small for our house. They have a great selection of toy related gifts which is perfect for paw friends!
google avatar

Ebonye B.

Yelp
Too cute! This whole place and all of its contents are too cute. If you're looking for that special something, it is here. Yummy candles, cornmeal, fine leather goods, excellent customer service from John Christian...it is all here! A modern day general store, White's Mercantile carries a little bit of everything. All of the products are high-end versions of things we use everyday to make life more comfortable and enjoyable. They have bottle openers, place mats, greeting cards, shoulder bags, egg trays, serving dishes, dog beds, perfume, sunglasses... you get it? While the eclectic mix may sound like it doesn't go together- it DOES! Stop by and find the thing you don't realize how you lived without it.

Yelp
I loved every minute of my shopping experience at this boutique. They carry everything from beauty products, candles, clothing, to cocktail bitters. It's just a gorgeously curated shop. If only I didn't have to worry about safely flying my purchases back, I easily would have spent a chunk of change. This shop is the perfect place to look for a unique gift, splurge on high end label clothing, or something for the home. They had the most perfect boho throw blankets (that as I post the photos I'm really regretting not buying for myself). Definitely a do not miss when shopping on 12th!!
google avatar

Alison Y.

Yelp
White's Mercantile is a trendy spot for any hipster that wishes to spend 5 times the amount of a normal store. This shop is very pretty and they do have lots of interesting things, but I think it is really over priced. I selected a photo album and then realized it was $300! The items seem like quality items and it is an interesting collection of cooks books, but if you are shopping for a several things it is probably not the best spot!
google avatar

Marissa F.

Yelp
In walking along 12th street, this is the only store that my friends and I were tempted to buy anything and actually did. They have cute and trendy knick knacks, scents, jewelry, glassware, games, non-perishable items, you get the picture. My friend bought a cute little pin of hot chicken on white bread with pickles while the rest of us drooled over duck fat caramels and designer candles. Perfect place to pick up a souvenir or novelty gift to commemorate your Nashville experience.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want a cool store to browse on 12 Ave S, this is it. Great range of prices and cool stuff.
google avatar

Jill L.

Yelp
Adorable inventory, but if you aren't local think again about shipping purchases from here. My experience was a disaster, with multiple calls and emails to try to get my items. Service was, at best, dismissive. If you can't cash and carry, keep walking.
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Cutest place at the end of 12th south. Such a friendly staff and have the best little finds. Got a whiskey glass that said "turnt" on it. I laugh every time I use it for a drink. Definitely a stop if you're on 12th!
google avatar

Dawna Rae L.

Yelp
I absolutely love the Franklin and the Leipers Fork locations ! Bought a candle that was the most amazing scent EVER.... and they have so many great cookbooks and mixology books that have made the perfect gift for so many of my friends and family!

Kelly M.

Yelp
We typically shop at the Franklin location and have always received great service there. However, when trying to exchange a robe my husband purchased for me at the Franklin location, we thought "what the heck," we'll go to the location right by our house--the 12 South store. Unfortunately, i was immediately met with poor customer service from Claire, who was at the register. I explained that we needed a different size, to which she offered essentially no help. I had to ask her to check the other locations (she seemed clearly annoyed to be doing this) and also had to ask her to check the back stock AND had to also ask if she would kindly check the van parked out front of the store, which also had more robes waiting to be unpacked. It was very frustrating to have to make all of these requests myself and be met with awful attitude and overall customer service. Finally, the manager came over and offered to "special order" one for me. She said that after the holidays, they would call me with my ETA of my "special order." Now 2 weeks later...I have received no call. I stopped in again after one week and was very disappointed to yet again encounter Claire, to which she asked very rudely "weren't you just in here?". Yes, one week ago...and i still hadn't heard anything. I asked if they would do a refund since there was still no ETA--she said "they called the robe company, but hadn't heard back..." and no, they do not do refunds. Just poor customer service. Overall, this entire experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth for the shop down on 12 South. After all of this, I also looked up the robe and found it $40 cheaper on Nordstrom.com, where they do process refunds, accept returns, actually provide an ETA on a "special order," and have much better customer service. All of this to say--stick to the Franklin location, research your larger items you'd like since they have at least 40% mark up on certain items, they also don't provide refunds (even in the bag with the tags, receipt, unworn, with the store wrapping on it and everything), and have poor customer service.

Yelp
If you're visiting Nashville (as I was) and are looking for a gift to bring back home to someone that is not a Honky Tonk snow globe or a shot glass come here! Seriously, this is an adorable gift shop. I have seen plenty of places like it strolling down Beacon Hill in Boston but this had a southern charm perfect for gift hunting. That being said, my gift of choice was a red velvet collar with bells for my adorable black lab :)
google avatar

McKenzie S.

Yelp
Love, love, love this store. The outside, pretty. The inside, pretty. The merchandise, pretty. It's a hipsters paradise. Or just anyone with decent taste. It's a store for everyone. They have books, candles, lotions, dog stuff, baby stuff, kitchen stuff, clothes. Yes, it's a bit pricey. But it's a great place to find a nice gift for someone. Or to spoil yourself. Or to browse around while you dream of someday having money...Just go and check it out. If anything, you get a cool instagram photo out of the deal. But it's hard not to find a little something to buy.

Yelp
White's Mercantile is a great general store in the 12 South neighborhood. They carry fresh and natural general store items from furnishings to toiletries to candy for the kids, toys, cook books, and more. The staff is friendly and amazingly helpful, it is located across from great places to eat, the park, and they let dogs inside. They share a parking lot with Epice (and mutually agree to let each other's customers park there), and on Saturdays they consistently have a food truck parked in their lot from 11:00am - 3:00pm (trucks like Biscuit Love, The Grilled Cheeserie, and/or Smokin' Thighs. Is my review long, no. But, it's pretty easy to cover what these folks do and how nice they are. It's a general store with fresh and natural products (including things like all natural toothpaste and other such stuff). Oh, I almost forgot if you are in need of design services for interior design then they have great items to purchase and can recommend some designers to you.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic store, further highlighted by my trip to a Cool (boring, antiseptic) Springs Galleria later in the day. They have everything, and it's unique and old all at the same time. To whit: 1) I think we found a light fixture for our new home we are building 2) they carry old school Stanley thermos' that keeps your stuff hot for 24 hours. And look retro-cool doing it. 3) they gave me a sample of spicy honey. Never heard of such. 15 seconds later, my nose ran for 15 minutes. I could spend a lot of time in here, and have a feeling a good deal of Christmas shopping will be done here. Bonus points: on weekends, always a great food truck parked outside.
google avatar

Candice L.

Yelp
Great customer service. They could ship it home for me so I wouldn't have to drag my swag around. Beautifully curated items and thoughtful displays. Again, phenomenal service. No pushiness and all sweet dispositions.
google avatar

Andy H.

Yelp
The greatest collection of everything! If there was one thing Nashville was missing it was an old school general store with modern stock, and an amazing staff. I can get beard oil (some of the best I've ever used), a beautiful gift for my wife, a toy tractor (made in america) for my son, and a new hanging light fixture for the man shed all in one stop! Additionally, the kids dig it because it's the most amazing wonderland of adult sized stuff and spread out so they can walk around enjoying their M&Ms (which the store sells). It's the one place the entire family can go and be entertained, they also have testers on most of their cosmetics and toiletries. As if this wasn't enough, they consistently have the greatest food trucks parked outside (Biscuit Love Truck!) and there is plenty of other things to do in 12 South...if you don't spend all day at Whites!
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
A clerk at another shop told us we had to keep walking until we got to White's. I am glad we listened to her! White's is simply adorable and epitome of everything I imagine to be southern having not grown up in the south. Loved the shabby chic yet simultaneously modern feel and the friendly staff. From carefully curated food displays (snagged some apple bourbon jam) to local textiles to stationery to a cute mason jar case (score), to cute baby clothes to beautiful leather bags, you can find it at White's. I actually had to refuse a shopping basket because I was afraid I would fill it with so many things my luggage would be overweight on the way home! Previous reviews focus on the find something for anyone nature of White's and I would agree. If I were local, this would be on the top of my list as a go to for gifts.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
This place is SUPER cute. However, everything is crazy expensive. Good quality items but the price tags were just way too high.
google avatar

Julia F.

Yelp
Fun window shopping in a hip part of town, but probably not somewhere I would be inclined to buy a whole lot. The store is decorated very nicely, and has a wide variety of things for sale, ranging from jewelry to home decor to books - all very fun to peruse. Might be a fun place to pick up a gift for a friend or to pick out a unique greeting card. Everything is very trendy, which translates into being very pricey. Definitely worth checking out, though!
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
Fabulously quirky and rustic gift shop in the heart of 12 South. A delightful selection of home goods, baby gifts, dog toys, kitchen wares. I'm in love with the gorgeous building, marked by a heavy wooden, rickety door. Store reps are always pleasant--great selection of Rifle Paper cards, bar cart essentials, unique knick knacks. Fantastic go-to place to dig up a gift for the person (or dog!) who has everything. ;) Can't recommend it enough!
google avatar

Jacoby D.

Yelp
While I love the vibe of this store some days, there's also many reasons why I avoid White's as a shopping destination. The products are great and cute, but the prices are jacked up to the point that I roll my eyes. In my opinion, they are taking advantage of the hipsters who want to say they got it at White's and tourists. The place is always packed, which does not make for a pleasant shopping experience, so obviously the business model is working for them. However, I just can't justify making a purchase there or make a recommendation to shop there.
google avatar

Tambra C.

Yelp
Typical hipster area gift shop with an expensive semi-unique facade to try and make you think they're really special. The only thing really worth mentioning is that they carry the brand Rails, which can be hard to find and are pretty much the best flannel shirts known to man (just be prepared for the LA price tag that comes with them). And if you're looking for a kitchy piece of jewelry, handmade candle or a box of strange candy for a gift, and you have a good amount of money to blow, this might be your spot.

Holly C.

Yelp
Didn't get the best vibes walking in. It was about five of us and we came in and no one greeted us then two people came in after us and they were greeted right away. We still looked around despite the unfriendly vibes. As we were leaving they just looked at us and didn't even say goodbye or have a nice day. The experience just rubbed us the wrong way considering everyone else was treated friendly. Its 2018 and everyone should be treated with the same respect.
google avatar

Whitney K.

Yelp
I got some really awesome smelling soap and I only paid $15. For one bar. Of soap. It's soap people. They have some cool things to look at, but I have buyers remorse. It's worth a visit, but definitely a hipster destination, which is fine, but, some of us do not need $15 soap and $22 bath salts (8oz). Definitely rolled my eyes many times to the prices in this place (as the previous reviewer stated).
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
Absolutely love this boutique! Great place to go for unique baby gifts and impossible to walk out without at least one thing for yourself!! All the items are so charming and unique and the staff is very friendly. I stop by every time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Loved this shop! We were in the neighborhood for another shop while visiting town. I wanted to explore some more shops and found White's Mercantile on Yelp. What a gem of a shop! There is really something for everyone in here and a great place for gifts for women, men, and kids. I would definitely be a regular here if I was a local.

Corey W.

Yelp
Gorgeous products, great smells, expensive as can be. Maybe one day I'll have bunches and money and can afford the $200+ blankets but alas (and I sigh here) today is not that day. I give the store four stars because the design and the merchandising is impeccable. Great care and attention to detail go into this shop. I would probably give it five if I could afford the beautiful things in it. Definitely worth browsing if you like a well maintained and merchandised store.
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
I love this shop! So many cute things to be had! I really can't wait to get back in here and shop for me. I went in with the idea of trying to find something for my mum but I wanted to buy everything for myself! They have a wide variety of things in the store, and at various prices. I like that they have many local and regionally made products. If you're meandering down 12 Ave definitely hop in to White's for a look around. Also they are playing host to food trucks in their parking lot pretty much at any time of the day. Nice!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this quirky little shop, always good things and the folks working there are really friendly.

Yelp
These guys are great tastemakers. A solid curation of items that work especially well for gifts. Look out for the owner's great grandmothers boots behind the counter. Legendary.

Yelp
Love this carefully curated collection of gifts & home goods. They stock my fav candle ever (Delirium Suede & Smoke) & you can find a baby, birthday, hostess gift in a snap! A must visit. Super friendly & helpful staff as well!!
