"Whole Foods in New York City is now limiting the number of customers allowed inside its grocery stores following two busy weeks of shopping amid new social distancing guidelines from city and state officials. The upscale grocery store has instated a 50 customer limit at all 13 of its New York City locations to minimize the risk of exposure, a worker at the Union Square branch confirmed." - Luke Fortney

Google
Great Whole Foods and they carry my favourite beer, Small Beer on their shelves! Steven, Iman and the beer team are both helpful and knowledgeable! You’re in good hands.

I Am Antman (TonyK)

Google
Whole Foods is a well-organized grocery store offering a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, groceries, and household items. The store is easy to navigate, and the staff is always helpful. I particularly enjoyed their prepared food section, which offers delicious and wholesome options that feel like home-cooked meals. While prices may be slightly higher than other grocery stores, I believe the quality of the products justifies the cost.

Kelly Lee

Google
I usually love Whole Foods at all locations, but this one feels small and dimly lit. The restrooms are difficult to locate, and the second floor isn't very well maintained.

Google
I shop in the store every week and this employer is really disgusting. I Ask him for help He walk away and when he come back I tell him I need help he say look for someone else I don’t care he didn’t even look at me I will never go to the store again

Google
Id like to give 4&1/2 stars as I was charged incorrectly for sweet potato (charged for organic yam) and also oil which I asked to leave as it was the wrong one. Smaller flower and bakery section to 14st St / Union Square but the produce section always has extremely Large fruit and vegetable which is great! Apples are often bruised badly. But the selection of other fruits and vegetables is above average. The butchers are very helpful (I ask for pieces instead of weight as I’m not familiar with the U.S. non metric system. I’ve been to this branch approximately once every ten days and this branch is top three out of the nine I frequent. I prefer the manned check outs as the self service takes longer than usual - I think there’s less at this branch. Well lite and always clean.

Went to this whole food's as I am a local to pick up some watermelons. Whole foods were adverting it in front of the entrance. I went inside and couldn't find 1 employee. I thought I was in walmart, not Whole Foods! I had to go hunt down an employee through the entire store. I found one. He didn't even help at all. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know if they have any," and walked away. Didn't call anyone! Then I went t to customer service same thing. No one cared to look or call to see if they had any in the back. Terrible store & customer service! I found the workers to be extremely lazy. I should have asked for a manager, but I have already wasted so much time. Management needs to really get it together with this store! They're understaffed, and no one is around to help on a Thursday evening? I will post a photo of the advertisement below. I will continue to shop at Trader Joe's, Thrive market & other grocery shops. Whole Foods customer service and quality foods both have gone downhill! Btw, why is Whole Foods only selling seedless? What is that about!

Vegan Brian

Google
VEGAN FOOD Very unusual for me to rate grocery store food BUT! Whole Foods made it possible. Aside of the varies Vegan options like bakery products, such as brownies, muffins, cakes and donuts; they also serve 1 vegan pizza option. Have a look in the fresh Pizza section where they can warm it up for you. (near the cash register on the second floor) the pizza was surprisingly good! By the way! The vegan blueberry muffins were also great! Why 4 stars and not 5? Because I wish Whole Foods would have a singled out area within the store for only plantbased products gathered together. (Vegan Cold cuts, vegan cheese, and so on) it would make shopping as a vegan much easier and efficient. Have a look at the pictures!

Google
I shop at the Bowery location daily and from what I see is that oppose to a few other locations there is a lack of diversity at this establishment. There is a majority of one race especially in the morning hours. It seems like there is a more diverse crowd in the afternoon than morning time. I love shopping at Whole Foods but I see that there is a trend that has been going on through out NY city and I know I’m not the only one that sees it. 2025 the goal should be to be more diverse and not a majority of one nationality.

Yelp
Food choices were very good. All the food we had was fresh and tasted superb. The cots are reasonable considering the location. Would definitely recommend and will look to return.

Yelp
I ducked into this Whole Foods Market after an event nearby. I had to pick up lunch for a colleague and me, during a gap in the schedule before the next appointment. I write to report it was bustling. I'd say it was one of the more crowded of this high end chain that I have ever visited, and that is not negative -- it felt festive, and the check out line moved along briskly.

Yelp
One of the newer locations that opened up from the looks of it. It's not a large place, and the connecting coffee place makes the entrance kind of hard to find. I saw many customers struggle to find the front door; besides the glass door being shattered and taped... This location is two floors, and there's an ample amount for self-checkout stations. And the staff is attentively helpful, like almost instantly! The guy popped up next to me like a genie... Startled me a bit because I had my headphones on lol As soon as I used two bags, he replaced it right afterwards. What can I say... that is diligence! They have my toast brand sparkling white tea on sale, so I had to get it; especially since it's not sold at every location. Then I saw the name of this cake "Chocolate Eruption" and had share it with a friend. Sadly, the cake was disappointing... I've had better baked goods from them ... And this cake was just not quality at all. It's like an overly sweet frosting, dry chocolate cake layer that made me sad ...:( Regrettable purchase .... But their chocolate chip cookies and brownies are still my favorite, I just didn't find it at this location today. Also didn't find the bakery section technically... Maybe I missed it somewhere ? Perhaps another day of exploration.... For those in need... Bathroom code: 55223#

Yelp
You have so many workers in whole food but not one single person is in the customer service counter been asking each rep that pass by and they said to wait been over 10 minute ridiculous. Also the shift person listed on duty is Eduardo.

Thomas J.

Yelp
Best wf location. Great selection of organics. Fresh and organized. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I like shopping in different Whole Foods markets. I visited this store 2 weeks ago and was craving fruits. I came across these Omakase strawberries and checked them out. A box of 12 strawberries costed $12.00. That's pretty expensive but bought them anyways because I wanted to see how good they really were. The strawberries were sweeter than the strawberries I usually buy at my local supermarket. Every bite is the strawberry was sweet. Was it worth it? Yes, if you crave sweet strawberries. I think once in a while it's okay. This location wasn't as busy as the other locations I've been to. The ambiance is always nice.

Yelp
I went into this Whole Foods looking for a bathroom, but what I found was far more important than a place to pee. I found a leader, a bathroom warrior, and hopefully a friend for life. Girl you know who you are if you are reading this, you lead me and my two friends to the bathroom and it was beautiful. Generous and fearless, just a few words my friends asked me to use to describe you in the review. We would have never found the bathroom without you as it was literlly like a 5 minute walk inside the store to get there. Please give her a $1,000,000!!!!

Yelp
I've been shopping at Whole Foods, in various states all over the US, since 1994 or so. This was before they bought out Bread and Circus and Wild Oats and the rest of the mini-chains nearby. The store has always had its critics, but if you needed certain obscure things, they had them. Their produce was always great if expensive. Their meat, ditto. If you needed some obscure seeds or herbs, this was the place to go. Ever since you-know-who bought the chain, all that has gone. I have ended up going home empty-handed several times because they no longer carry those obscure seeds and herbs I want. I am sure some algorithm has been applied to the inventory and determined that selling frozen chicken thighs in big bags is more profitable than selling obscure grains. Just a couple of things I used to be able to buy there but no longer can: citric acid and ryazhenka. I learned to make the latter at home, and I ended up buying the former online (and not from you-know-who, either). So yeah, the one thing this place had going for it, they can't really do anymore. And they're not giving me a lot of reasons to shop there for regular groceries, as there are competitors (Wegmans, Trader Joe's) who do things better.

Dennis G.

Yelp
Without a doubt, the worst Whole Foods I have ever shopped at. The place is a mess and the staff are mostly unhelpful. I gave two stars because the shift leader attempted to provide customer service. Save your time and money.

Marisa M.

Yelp
I really like this Whole Foods - they usually have everything I'm going to get. Note that it gets very crowded on Monday nights so I usually try to avoid it then. They have alot of options for lunch too

Chin T.

Yelp
There's a larger varieties of food. It is clean and organized. It is a bit on the pricey end compared to Traders Joe but convenience has its price. There's lots of people shopping via Amazon. And Amazon Prime members have discount in Whole Foods. Remember to bring your own bag for 10 cents off your purchase!

jesse W.

Yelp
Great seating and huge variety of organic food selections. Comfortable and nicely decorated.

Amy C.

Yelp
Nice place! Clean and neat! One of the best wf in Manhattan. Great staff! Highly recommend. So glad it is in this neighborhood.

Jake R.

Yelp
5 stars to the staff. Very courteous and polite. However food court does not have microwave. And the chairs are a bit smelly... They do have the best food though among other locations. Their chef must be very good.

Isabel L.

Yelp
This is the most low vibrational place. All of the workers are so nasty & rude. I ended up abandoning my cart and left the store after being fed up after a few interactions with their employees. They all had a nasty attitude and made me not want to buy anything. There are also a bunch of homeless people walking around asking for money and loitering around on the 2nd floor cafe with all of their belongings. If you're coming for the Whole Foods experience, just avoid this location and go somewhere else.

Carole R.

Yelp
I generally shop at this location though I haven't been satisfied for awhile in the appearance of the beef products (lots of thin white strips in the beef). However today I wanted to buy a lobster cake. They were marked "$6.99/3 ounces." I got the smallest one which was under 3 ounces but the seller wanted to charge me the same price, telling me that it was "$6.99 each." I pointed out that the sign did not read that way. The manager came over; he was pleasant and told the counter representative to remove the lobster cake from the display because it seemed too dry. Whole Foods needs to mark their prices clearly: if they're based on weight, the price needs to be adjusted accordingly. Whole Foods has been investigated for something like this before. A few years ago found Whole Foods guilty of overcharging customers.

Tom T.

Yelp
Decent selection, clean store and pretty good customer service. It's all I ask for, really.

Lisa T.

Yelp
Haven't been to your salad bar in a but. $13.99 a lb, wow, so I got all vegetables, a couple of pieces of falafel and pita bread and it was over $25. I now remember why I hate you guys so much.

Cloud M.

Yelp
This wf is fantastic. Very good deli section. Things are so neat. Will definitely come back again since I'm an organic food fan

Pressed I.

Yelp
Girl at fish counter ignores racial minorities to serve whites first even if you were there first. Bizarre thing to experience in 2024.

Abdul D.

Yelp
Very good location and things are clean and organized. Staffs are friendly. Good wf location

North M.

Yelp
Nice food. Very organized and clean. Nice staff. Salmon is fresh and taste. The meal is quite affordable.

quenton b.

Yelp
Everything is nicely displayed. One of the best wholefood in Manhattan. (Trust me I've seen a lot worse in yorkville) hope they can keep up.

Eunice T.

Yelp
I came across this Wf location and find everything is pretty good. It is better than most of other locations.

sam j.

Yelp
This store is located in Manhattan and it is surprisingly spacious. Things are pretty clean and neat. I have to say this is a pretty neat wf than other Manhattan location.

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
Nice wholefood location. Convenient. Nice staff, great service. Food is excellent. Just that the line is a bit long on weekends.

Jessica T.

Yelp
Great place. Always being a friend of wf. Very cute decoration. However, the Cafe is just a bit smelly : chairs and tables. The bathroom needs some cleaning too. But in general it is nice.

Midori G.

Yelp
A Whole Foods is a Whole Foods. You pretty much know what you're going to get. What made this experience so bad was the service. We were checking out and I had a question about a price. I turned and told the woman working the area I had a question. She yelled across the way and said that it looked fine. I walked over to ask her the question properly. She completely dismissed me and went back to talking to her coworker. Disappointing experience.

Samantha L.

Yelp
This is not my usual whole foods But it is a great one, love their bakery a And the fresh raw pasta bar.

Sara Y.

Yelp
2nd fl is place to eat, large there's a bathroom as well. Falk knife spoon are set up near the elevator, by Amazon pick up. There's no ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard although other locations have. 1st fl, by the self checking area only accept Card. (2nd ave entrance)

Ruwan J.

Yelp
if you need a review about Whole Foods to decide whether you should shop there then you are lost in the sauce. and that is why my review isn't about the grocery store itself but its pizza bar which has been refurbished. a totally welcome upgrade bc the pizza quality has leveled up, too. the pizza bar serves up a variety of pies from pepperoni ones to more complex pies. however, i am fairly impressed with WF's large cheese pizza which is pretty good rendition of NYC pie--flavorful sauce, melty cheese, and a fairly thin crust with little to no flop. for a pizza made at a grocery store, people should not sleep on this pizza pie. a whole pie is the 18" standard and it delivers on being better than just okay...i'd say the plain cheese pizza is actually good and a worthwhile option if you need a pie to go. the secret is that the plain cheese is fairly basic, ain't fancy, and uses a simple mix of ingredients. ordered a pie to go and it took about 10-15 minutes in the pizza oven at Whole Foods. easy peasy. anyway Whole Foods will not replace your favorite pizzeria...however it is pretty convenient to do some grocery shopping and then pick up pizza on the way out. also WF sells pizza by the slice here too, but i have only tried freshly made pies.

Fox E.

Yelp
Not to be confused with Ho Feuds, which is when me and Barbie have a fight. This is the Whole Foods that is right next to the Chinatown gym so I've used it on several occasions. It's very expensive and gets very busy and some of the customers are extraordinary rude, but that could be said about a lot of grocery stores. I was so glad it was here and that they had what I needed them to, so I guess I have to toss them at least 3 stars. And well done to them for stocking Oatly, even if it's crazy expensive.

Benny B.

Yelp
I am giving this spot 4 stars because sometimes they don't pick up the phones. But the fruits are great, the seafood is exceptional. The meat department is awesome. And the bakery, whew... They are perfect.

Bill D.

Yelp
If you eat organic, WF has probably the best selection of organic produce around. And a great selection of everything in general. I find the layout of this location easy to navigate. And any time I've asked a staff person for help, they've been friendly and helpful.

Sam T.

Yelp
This is the only whole food I've seen which carries think bar chocolate mousse. Don't know why others does not have this flavor. That's my favorite keto bar.

Tyler W.

Yelp
I never leave reviews because I find them unfair in most circumstances, but I'm making an exception here. The older lady who works in the self checkout line is very rude for absolutely no reason. During the checkout process I apparently I didn't set my salad on the scale the "proper way", so she proceeded to yell at me about it in front of people, and then "corrected" my salad's scale... and the difference was less than a dollar... to top it off, she then goes to the person next to me and talks about me loudly to shame me as if it was some "gotcha" moment. Was I in a rush to get back to work and threw the salad down? Yes. Was it worth the less than a dollar correction? Not sure. I work in customer service and I get it, and I would've happily apologized and understood if it was a reasonable (and polite) correction. Save yourself an encounter from somebody who takes pleasure on humiliating people for their own ego and steer clear of the self checkout. Just go to a regular register. Better yet, go to another Whole Foods or a local grocer in the area.

Mary C.

Yelp
One of the best wholefood I've been to. Great food bar selection. The staffs are very nice too, very attentive. The guy who served me was Max, who is very patience and helpful.

Victor A.

Yelp
Nice location. Great selection of fruits. Quite affordable compare to local markets. Highly recommended.

Mia M.

Yelp
I came here for the cooked food at the carving station. I was super hungry and a nice gentleman at the self serving station walked up to me (honoring social distancing, of course) and asked if I needed help. He was so nice and was detailed on explaining what my options were and making suggestions. I wanted a meal and wasn't really interested in paying by the pound/lb so he told me I could choose a protein and two sides. I decided to be a good, bad girl and get truffle mashed potatoes along with the teriyaki salmon and broccoli raab with chili pepper flakes. The salmon was quite nice and I actually don't feel guilty about the truffle mashed potatoes because they were so delicious! The broccoli raab would have been okay... if I could only chew it! It was like chewing on lubricated straw and boy did I try my hardest to suck as much flavor off those stems as I could because the broccoli texture was a wrap: O-V-E-R. That's what happens when you overcook broccoli raab. I've done that before to my broccoli raab, but it was MY kitchen and I didn't have to pay me to make it-- feel me? If only I listened to the nice guy who was about to put Brussels sprouts in my to-go box but I corrected him and told him I wanted the broccoli. Hey, maybe he was trying to tell me something, lol I also picked up a some vegan croissants and chocolate cookies on sale by the entrance, a gallon of Whole Foods brand spring water, and some organic facial moisturizer. They had a good selection of skincare items and quite a few of them were on sale. I spent a long time in this section deciding on whether I wanted my main moisturizer ingredient to be vitamin C or hyalironic acid. Decisions, decisions... The store was clean, organized, had sanitizer in most places, and I got what I needed. Checkout was easy and my cashier was very patient when my card kept rejecting the purchase since I just got back in the country and it was one of the first purchases I made. She also was nice enough to slow me how to pull up my Prime member bar code in the app. Will come back to this location!

Somara S.

Yelp
I just moved to the neighborhood and while I am not a regular Whole Foods customer, I am kind of forced to shop here because a grocery haul from Trader Joe's 14th street would be quite a workout to my walk up apartment. I read the reviews below and it seems people have complaints about specific experiences. I am rating my experience here overall. First, wow this store is huge for a Manhattan grocery store! It's super clean and to my surprise there's actually some affordable organic produce. I love Whole Foods for their variety of veggies (Thai chilis always in stock meanwhile they're nowhere to be found at regular grocery stores!) There is room to breathe and move here. I hate when I peruse Aisles of a Whole Foods only to have to stand in line for 20 mins among a huge crowd. This Whole Foods is quick in and out, barely any lines even on a Saturday afternoon! I also like that it's right at the 2nd Ave subway stop.

Marina C.

Yelp
I get WFs delivered every 2 weeks or so but we were passing by and I had a coupon. Ever since Amazon purchased WFs, it's more "affordable"...considering how expensive regular groceries are at my local supermarket, I don't mind paying a lil more for better quality...love the weekly sales. Amazon Prime members get an extra 10% off on certain items. I dropped by to see if they had anything I needed that they don't sell online. I've been looking for a salt box for the past month and this WFs had it for $9.99 which is pretty reasonable. Also picked up some sausages that were $8.99 for free with my coupon... The store didn't have too many customers on a weekday.. so it was nice to walk around. They had a lot of employees in the aisles.. the lady at the check out was very nice. No issue whatsoever using a coupon for free stuff.. The prices were the same in-store/online. Not all discounts are available online which is understandable.. FYI...Whether you get WFs delivered or scheduled for pick up, the groceries are sealed in paper bags. There are no handles. They're all taped up with your info. That's why I don't do pick up.. I don't drive and we can't carry 50lbs of groceries. So if you get a lot of stuff, it's worth it to pay the $9.95 fee for delivery.

Anna L.

Yelp
Very convenient location in soho. Nice selection of organics and they are so neat! Will definitely come back.

J J.

Yelp
Lot of unique healthy food here. Enjoyed seeing so much variety of products that I never usually see at a regular supermarket. I honestly don't think the products are overpriced at all. I remember some people saying whole foods is overpriced.

Wesley K.

Yelp
Typical Whole Foods, but the seating upstairs and bathroom are super spacious. The area is so nice for chilling or eating food and relaxing. Just spectacular.

Nancy H.

Yelp
This Whole Foods sells Sun Noodle. The noodle you should get if you're making your own ramen and in a pinch for noodles. They offer the kits with sauce bases or just the noodles in the kaedama form. Large, clean, and accessible. Tons of fresh produce, fresh baked goods, meat, seafood, and the typical snacks and home good products. There are restrooms on the second floor, accessed by the stairs after self checkout. It's also where there are tables and chairs too. Edit: Also lots of prepared foods, hot and cold, for selection if you don't feel like cooking. I recommend going right when they open to get first dibs and shop during the calm before the storm of the day before the masses arise from slumber.

Hannah M.

Yelp
WTF is up with this Whole Foods? It's the closest grocery to my apartment so I'm kinda stuck with it, but god I might just have to start ordering groceries on Jet to avoid the nightmare altogether. First, I don't find it to be organized logically at all. Been coming here for over a year and I just found out where the normal (ie not express) checkout is. Consistently have to ask employees where things are, which wouldn't be a huge deal except they can never tell me - even for simple things! I'll ask where to find, like, vinegar and the employee will lead me around on a wild goose chase until I inevitably spot it. My main frustration is that it's frequently out of staple grocery items. Last week they were entirely out of brown sugar, and yesterday it was chopped garlic that was missing from the shelves. It's just f-ing bananas to me that a grocery store could be out of common cooking ingredients. With all of that said, Whole Foods is generally my preferred grocery store - the prices are decent, there are frequently samples, the selection of prepared foods is good, there are a good number of craft beers for sale, etc. BUT this location really should get its act together.

Jenny S.

Yelp
I came into the store for a quick lunch and bathroom break after all the wandering in the city. The store is huge, very clean, and had tons of healthy food options at the hot and cold bar. It definitely beats out the WFs I've been to in Houston. There was a big seating area on the second floor so you can eat and charge up if needed. I like their line system also it was pretty efficient with different color coded lines and they would let you know what register to proceed to once it open.

Jonathan L.

Yelp
At this Whole Foods, you're welcome to wait on the line to check out your own goods, with every third or fourth item mysteriously requiring intervention from a roving employee, or else you can wait on the sets of lines where 60 customers wait for one of the two checkout people the supermarket now employs at a time. Bring reading material.

Thomas F.

Yelp
That's my local Whole Foods. Two goods things about it are the relatively short lines (compared to the craziness at Union Square and Columbus Circle locations) and the great view of the dining tables. If you are visiting NYC and need to set yourself up for an hour or two, upstairs is the eating area. It's right at the end of a t-intersection. You can seat yourself at a table that gives you a wonderful view down one of those endless NYC streets through the floor to ceiling windows. The selection is pretty standard for Whole Foods. I'd be a bit scared about the fish. It always seems to look dry and old. (Each Whole Foods seems to carry different seafood and meat selections. Typically, the nicer neighborhoods have the better cuts. Plus they seem to look fresher due to higher turnover.) There are now self checkout stations, which never seem to have a line. Note: If you think Whole Foods is expensive, I recommend to take a more nuanced look. If you compare the same product, Whole Foods tends to be on par or cheaper. For example, one pound of commercial carrots at a regular grocery store was a dollar plus something. Whole Foods sold a pound of organic for a dollar. Of course, Whole Foods offers more premium products. If you splurge on those, you are obviously going to spend more money. However, than you are not comparing the same products.
