"Just days after closing its Bryant Park store to customers, grocery chain Whole Foods announced that the shop would remain open for online orders only — a move in hopes of speeding up grocery deliveries amid long waits. This location, as well as an outpost in Baltimore, will be the first Whole Foods outposts in the country to transition to the online-only model." - Tanay Warerkar

This location set a high standard for all other wholefood. The design of this place is excellent. It’s spacious and the products are arrange not only clearly but also esthetically. It’s a treat to see them arrange the produce. There are seating area by the window at 2 floor. It has view of Bryant park. Priceless.

Whole Foods Market in NY has a fantastic selection of fresh, organic produce and high-quality products. However, the staff was surprisingly rude, particularly a fat lady with frizzy hair on the counter which took away from my shopping experience. Despite this, the store's cleanliness and inviting atmosphere make it worth visiting.

Here you can eat whole foods hot buffet with a great view to the Bryant park 5 stars for absolutely clear windows

I use this branch in emergencies or if I want a limited edition item that’s been discontinued. They sometimes have older products left. The Amazon staff are efficient. But security is bad. There has been a homeless person around the salad bar which security missed as they were chatting to a colleague. I pointed him out and still nothing was done. I tried to report it to a food manager but no one was available. He was playing with the spatulas and which is a hygiene issue. I usually get Mac and cheese but will not be using the hot bar after what I witnessed. It needed to be disposed of and the person removed as there was an awful stench of urine. The food bar is upstairs and at the back of the store meaning he passed at least two guards. I’ve also had issues with the meat counter. I asked for an amount of certain items (sausages and lamb loins, etc). One dude cannot be bothered and just argues about what weight I want. Which is understandable for minces etc but my recipes and others are specific. Customer service is hot and miss knowledge wise. Frequently not knowing answers to simple (delivery date / qpr questions or locations). They get 3 stars for selection, cleanliness and variety. I also like the quick food section for lunch / picnics. Self service and manned check outs queues are long but move quickly when customers co operate.

I love this place! Always finds time to stop by when I’m in NYC.

Google
They can be rude if you have bags. Too many floors to find beverages etc... Bathrooms are always disgusting. The salad bar is overpriced, but clean, made fresh and healthy. Excellent location. Nice view to eat. Overall, good, hard working, nice staff. I 💗 this place. I'm there alot for the salad bar :)

Google
I came here a few weeks ago because I was in the area with some friends on a trip. I came in to get some snacks and to find a bathroom, the store as a whole is very nice and it’s very big too there’s 2 floors of just anything you can think of. I went and bought my snacks but when I went to go look for the bathroom it was kind of a hassle to find and when I did end up finding it there was a pretty decent line. Other than the bathroom thing I would definitely come back again in the future if I’m ever in the area again.

Yelp
Although I would rather support local small businesses across Times Square, I love using Whole Foods as a place to discover new products & they accomplish that task for me very well! Surprisingly, many products are not overpriced at all, especially for the area! For example, I discovered one of the healthiest cereals, "Ezekiel 4:9", priced at pretty much the lowest price you'd find anywhere, even online! Also, I had to recently return something I bought from Amazon and the process was 100% smooth & effortless!

Yelp
Lovely place, pretty big produce selection. I like how they have freshly baked bread. The cookies are good too. They had a good selection of kimchi and such. The MTHFR vitamin selection was pretty good. Service was positive - would recommend.

Sunil R.

Yelp
Was surprised and happy to see a WFM in this area of mid town. Multiple floors, awesome pizza (better than the WFM back home) and a super convenient Amazon return. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
I am a huge Whole Foods fan. This location is in a good spot and has a huge selection. I honestly just found the layout of the store to be very unintuitive and it took me a long time to find certain things. It also took me a while to find the deli counter to get a half a pound of turkey. They don't have the meat out like most Whole Foods deli counters do. Other than that I love Whole Foods and this store had everything I needed.

Alan R.

Yelp
Super cool riding in downtown New York lots of options huge benefit for local locals great for those passing through town that want some real food worth checking out

Heather W.

Yelp
A man got robbed of his lunch as he was leaving Whole Foods today. The thief was shoving and getting in the man's face while the security guard stood there and did nothing. Nice way to run your store.

Sunday P.

Yelp
I'm really disappointed in this Whole Foods. I went into the news agency in Whole Foods to get coffee. The place is dirty. They need to refill the sugar and the cream. None of the Counters are wiped down. I just want to get a regular coffee and the girl behind the counter who did not seem like she wanted to be at work, and then the girl who must be a floor manager or something definitely every time I've ever seen her in there looks miserable . The girl filling in didn't know what I was talking about. She said because the other girl is on her break so she couldn't help me and the only thing she could offer was coffee in a pot or something it was really bizarre. So apparently because the girls on her break, there's no cappuccino no espresso no nothing else . How about instead of looking at your phone and standing there CLEANING behind the counter that would help ! I've always loved Whole Foods .

Yelp
Wow, this place is really busy. It is hard to get around the supermarket since it's bustling with tons of people going in every direction. There's food for everyone, but checking out can be crazy. How do they even keep track of who buys and stuff? It's hard to tell with people coming inside and outside. It's hard to tell who even works there as they blend in with the regular customers. Overall, if you're in a pinch you can come here as they have such a large selection.

Nina A.

Yelp
Pretty good food at the deli. I was starving & waiting for payday, I was able to use EBT for this food!

Susan C.

Yelp
I've prob been here a hundred times at this point if not more, I have to say it's really convenient when you're in a rush to grab something on the go, whether a coffee or beer or a prepared food to picnic in Bryant Park. (Not that there aren't plenty of other local places to grab good reasonably priced food like some local delis, bowl/salad spots and Sunrise Mart a few blocks away.) Since Amazon took over, the prices are lower overall than prior, though still higher on most products than your average Stop and Shop or Trader Joe's, though their selection tends to include some more novelty items that aren't necessarily available at your other big box stores--which I can appreciate. At the same time I also fight internally a bit with myself over handing more money over to Amazon...but I guess that's where I try to shop locally for most of my produce and items found more commonly at other stores. Worth mentioning that this location has a decent flower selection, usually very fresh and a good variety. I've picked up a few bouquets here or there for birthday or other celebrations.

Anita W.

Yelp
Very typical Whole Foods store that is conveniently located. The downstairs has the produce, flowers, and chips/snacks, and a section off to the right side that almost feels like a different store but isn't, that I'm a bit confused about, which has some canned drinks, to-go lunch foods, and I think a coffee/pastry area. The upstairs has everything else including a deli, hot food bar, seating, Amazon return center, pizza, cheese, and bathrooms. Things are relatively easy to locate and I am usually able to get in and out relatively quickly. There's a good amount of product variety. I do try to come here at "off-peak" times and there is a difference in crowds depending when you come. A lot of people do come here specifically to use the bathroom, which gets dirty and smelly. It's gender neutral and there about about 5 or so stalls.

Jahnavi U.

Yelp
This Whole Foods Market is conveniently located across the after from Bryant Park. It's a pretty big location and it has 2 floors. All of the store staff are friendly and helpful. I visited the store to pickup a catering order for my Toastmasters club meeting. I ordered a large wraps platter that included (8) Mediterranean Falafel wraps, (8) Turkey Provolone, (16) Grilled chicken Caesar wraps. The large wraps platter was $119.99 plus tax. I placed the order online 3 days before my event and also had to select a time when I was going to pick it up. I scheduled the pickup between 5:30-6pm Wednesday evening. I went to the store about 10 minutes early. I walked over to the customer service kiosk in the store on the first floor to pick up my order. The store employee brought over my order. The wraps were good size, good quality and everyone loved them. The whole experience was great. I called the store a couple of times with questions regarding the catering and they were very helpful. I would definitely order from them again.

Yelp
The Whole Foods across from Bryant Park has two levels; big for New York. There is a seating area and some restrooms, but both were packed. I was intrigued to find a "vegetable butcher" where they offered to cut up your fruits in vegetables in front of you to make preparation easier. It was not something I needed at the moment but it does strike me as helpful for people trying to save time, which in this busy city there must be plenty of. I was able to purchase an overpriced beverage but one that fit my needs for the hot day, and at least getting in and out was relatively easy. And while modern and seemingly newly renovated, notably this store was not the cashier-free dystopia that Whole Foods has piloted elsewhere. It was a pretty good upscale store that the people certainly want around here.

Marianne W.

Yelp
Whole Foods at this location is convenient when I'm hanging out. I'm pretty sure I reviewed it before but it is missing on this business page. Whole Foods is a store that I couldn't wait to open in my neighborhood. I also enjoy the other locations in Manhattan because the service and selection is consistent. This location is no different from the other locations. I enjoy the 365 brand because it is reasonably priced. If you live in the neighborhood of this location I am sure you have shopped here. I've rarely had a problem and when I do their customer service counter more than pleased me by resolving the issue. Sorry I didn't save my photos.

Catherine L.

Yelp
Salesperson #1 started to pick 4 out of 12 oysters but left to help those behind arriving after me. Salesperson #2 picked the rest then also left and tried to talk me out of getting them shucked, even though he had no problem shucking for the person before me. After arriving as next person in line, 40 minutes later 12 oysters still not ready.

Ivy L.

Yelp
Always love the friendly service here! The quality of the products is consistently good, too.

Lisa H.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is located a stone's throw from Bryant Park. I just wanted to duck in and grab a few things, but I found the layout confusing and not too intuitive which didn't help with my goal of shopping speedily. The store is two levels and is in quadrants bisected by a staircase/escalator in the middle. The aisles are on the tight side too, and since I was there at a busy time, there was a lot of squeezing by people and chirping "Excuse me." However, self-checkout was super quick and easy. There's one downstairs and what looks like another one upstairs. The store was clean and organized. Some of the sandwiches in the prepared foods area upstairs looked tasty so they could be worth trying sometime. Check your receipt for the restroom code. And with all Whole Foods, you can save extra on sale items if you're a Prime member.

Jullian S.

Yelp
I feel their meat selection is lacking. Could be better. Produce selection is big, I love the organic stuff. The pricing is a bit high for some things. I like the vibe here, overall I've usually had a good experience here.

Betsy S.

Yelp
They have everything here- you may not like the price however. You can take the escalator up to check out some of the departments. I also needed to stop j. the ladies room which at the bottom is your receipt with the code to the bathroom (or ask someone for it!). If you want flowers, bread, coffee, fruit and more-this is your place. It's a good use of NYC space near Bryant Park. It's good to have a supermarket in the neighborhood.

Tim O.

Yelp
The layout in this store is confusing. The hot lunch bar, which is probably responsible for most of this location's workday foot traffic, is charged per pound and is a decent deal whenever you want to load up on dark meat chicken. If you're on a low carb diet this is a recommendable option. If you're not, it's the same as eating fast casual. Compared to Chipotle, it'll taste more bland but you'll get pretty much the same nutrients as you would if you spent $20 there. For me, it's hard to justify defensively working my way around these buffet stations when I can walk just a few extra blocks and go to Margon for a better tasting and cheaper chicken-forward protein bowl.

HoyMay P.

Yelp
Huge Whole Foods with two floors. Hubby wanted his sweet treat. Nothing really spoke to him but we sure enjoyed the walk through. Street and lot parking. Free WiFi.

Yelp
Every State, Province, or Country has its own liquor laws, of which figuring it out is sometimes a challenge. In South Africa for example, you can buy wine in grocery stores like Woolworths, while beer must be purchased in a liquor store. New York is just the opposite, which explained why we came up empty for wine at this Whole Foods. Who knows what the State politics are, but doing the right thing by citizen customers doesn't appear to be on the list of considerations. We did find a nice wine store around the corner, but for price and for maybe the under $10 price point, I wish Gayle and I were closer to New Jersey. Past the alcohol issue, Gayle and I enjoyed our short split-level shopping experience here. We purchased snacks for our Hotel room, a salad and sandwich for one lunch, and of course a beer. This Whole Foods caters to a wide variety of to-go items in addition to serving as a higher level grocery store.

Jessie H.

Yelp
This place is a crowded. They have everything but there are just SO many people because it's right across Bryant Park. I came here to pick up my amazon hub order- it's upstairs (up the escalators), and take 2 rights. I didn't know where it was so I had to ask customer service. I would come here if you know exactly what you are looking for because otherwise you're gonna start to get annoyed by all the people walking/pushing around you.

Andy C.

Yelp
Good selection of meats and fish. Hot and salad bars are decent for lunch but can get pricey. There's usually seating at the cafe area looking out over the park so if you're lucky you can have a view with your meal. Good selection of beers. Fun snacks. I used to get annoyed at the checkout service. Self checkout however has pushed this now in 4 star territory, at the hot bar and the main checkout downstairs. Prices are also more reasonable now. It's now a viable lunch option and also post-work grocery option.

Zeddarr P.

Yelp
Ok to shop for your daily' groceries, as is it's a decent market food is fine. Service seems on the up and up, no long waits, you get in and get out. But the atmosphere is somewhat hectic and crowded, security don't seem too courteous at least the individual I bumped into, suspecting me of doing what I wasn't after telling them to look on the camera. Two stars just off of that experience there, one day, if ever maybe they'll change.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
I've had so many problems when it came to meat from this place. I bought some kabobs, who knows what it was. It wasn't premium cuts, ill tell you that much. I ended up throwing it out. Service here sucks. Would recommend going elsewhere

Sara Y.

Yelp
I didn't have any negative experiences here. The workers are friendly. Just recognized there were homeless ppl were sitting for a while on 2nd fl.

Scarlette O.

Yelp
This location is always busy, the staff really tries to pick up where some employees slack off. Huge thanks to Torq for making my day at customer service and remedying the mishap of the girl in the coffee bar.

Jose P.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is a perfect go-to location. It is right across the street from my building and so convenient. This market has everything covered. You could get breakfast, lunch, and dinner with many options. The produce section has organic options with every item fresh and well packaged. If you would like to enjoy a sit down meal, that's possible, as well. The freezer section is always well stocked and carries the famous Amy's brand of many selections. If waiting on line will take too long, you could go upstairs and use the self checkout. There are attendants, who will gladly assist you, if you encounter any issues. The pictures will show a fragment of what this location will provide and I'm sure that this Whole Foods will satisfy your wishes.

Katherine D.

Yelp
A nice whole foods to come visit after work. They recently added an amazon return spot so it's convenient. I enjoy coming here for the hot food bar which all the food is made fresh. The line can get pretty long after work hours but it goes really fast. The place is always clean and well stocked.

Marissa L.

Yelp
This is probably my least favorite Whole Foods in the city for actual grocery shopping, but I still go there from time to time just because of its convenient location right across from Bryant Park. They do have a variety of groceries there, but the selection feels so limited compared to the other Whole Foods in the city. I'm also not a fan of the layout, with some departments like baked goods split between the floors, and the escalators and entrance/exit bisecting the first floor shopping sections (too many people going in too many different directions), but I guess they didn't have a lot of options with that amount of space. This location is much better for prepared items, which isn't surprising given all the offices and tourist attractions nearby. So if you're looking for fruit, salads, baked goods, drinks, and the standard hot bar, this store is probably just fine. Checking out also got much easier once they switched the upstairs registers to self-checkout. Even though I often find shopping at this location to be more frustrating than enjoyable, I do appreciate that they exist, because this area of Midtown really did need a store like this.

Willi R.

Yelp
A bit overpriced, could be the area. I've been to a handful of wholefoods so far, and feel this place could be doing better. I needed some assistance with something to my car, and they were not willing to help. I feel the service could have been a lot better. I often buy a lot of produce here and never have any problems with the food. I'm not very fond of the meat though.

Ben L.

Yelp
I like this Whole Foods a bit more than the one in Union Square the only problem is the tourists that go in there. It's one of the few places in New York City where I've been able to find Mahou. As for the store itself it's always tidy and checkout is a piece of cake.

Joyce L.

Yelp
Located in midtown Manhattan we went there to browse on a Friday afternoon. The place had tons of offerings including baked goods, produce, butcher, etc. Prices were of course high due to being in a tourist area but the quality is very nice so you do get what you pay for. With the huge variety of goods this is well worth a visit.

Maggie L.

Yelp
We tried the buffet on a Saturday lunch time. What surprised me is the price of the lunch box and the quality of it. It cost me $21 for the lunch box which is fine if it's yummy. But I could not even finish half of it. It's not tasty At all. I wonder if they try their own food otherwise how come they serve the food like this. Not proper seasoning very dry meat. Not whole food but whole money!!!

Thom G.

Yelp
It appears that Whole Foods just doesn't want the business. Since they responded over 2 weeks ago to my review of how their Hot & Cold Food Bar is not kept up, I have hit many more days of half empty trays. I am right around the corner for work, 5 days a week, and after today's disgusting display, I will no longer attempt to get my lunch from here. It's a waste of my time. I'm attaching two pictures - one from today and one from about 10 days ago.

Jess D.

Yelp
62766# Needed to use the restroom while perusing the city. Figured I'd run into trusty Whole Foods for a quick break and a drink. Ran upstairs to relieve myself only to find the bathrooms require codes, so ran downstrairs to navigate this maze of a store and purchase a drink on the complete opposite side the. Went upstairs to wait in the line since half the stalls were out of order. Finally made it in to the incredibly messy and unkempt bathroom, knowing half of nyc was waiting for me outside the door. Should have just gone anywhere else.

Thomas W.

Yelp
The Whole Foods Hot soup bar can offer some nice selections if you get there st the right time, e.g., beef chili, chicken tortilla, and lobster bisque. Mini breakfast burritos go fast and the Expresso at less than $3 is a nice bargain!

Jacky C.

Yelp
This is one of the nicer Whole Foods in NYC. With that said, the store arrangement is confusing. The self check out line is upstairs, but if you want a cashier to help you check out, it's on the lower level. The front entrance to the store is the center of the store, so it looks like you could easily shoplift, despite security being there. Produce is on the lower level while everything else is on the 2nd floor. Because of its location, this place will get jam packed with people, especially after work hours and during lunch hours.

Sunny C.

Yelp
No one steps into midtown just for Whole Foods- but you go to this Whole Foods because it's just super convenient if you're commuting to/from work. This place is usually always pretty crowded, esp, during lunch hour- but if you're looking to stop by for a snack or groceries, it's totally worth it. I can't tell if this location is more expensive bc it's located in such a prime area, but shop cautiously...! Anyway, I also feel like their shelves aren't as well stocked or I feel they run out quickly. One time, so went to get chorizo and it was all sold out. True story. Anyway, I still love this place! The End. sorry my Review is all over the place. I've been sick this weekend so my thoughts are a lil sloppy!

Brad M.

Yelp
Got a hot chocolate and a lavender latte. Both were very good. Came in a second day, and the guy behind the counter was working alone. Not fair to him to have to run the register and fix drinks. Whole Foods should have more than one person working. The line was long and a little slow. Have to give compliments to the young man working the first day I was in here. He was working alone like the other guy and he handled himself very well. I did not get his name but he was very polite and made a great lavender latte.

Fiona L.

Yelp
Really disappointed with the meat department when trying to talk to the butcher. Dismissive and downright rude. It wasn't busy and I had a few questions. "You have to pick it yourself..it's all the same". I also want to add that when I spoke to the cashier she was nice but completely unaware of what the butchers job was.

Adrian W.

Yelp
I love Whole Foods , it's my favorite brand ... but seriously these store owners should loose their license. It smelled cat / dog piss in the eating area. 100 people in line (not kidding) and so much stuff out of stock from the shelves. Seriously disappointed

erin d.

Yelp
I wish I had a closer option for coffee and groceries because I keep going back out of convenience and this place stays pissing me off. They put 1 person on the register serving coffee and working the register during the morning rush. You can tell the people working there are feeling the pressure and they're always irritable and the line wraps around the damn room. They are prepping the drinks while also ringing up the customers and it's at least a 2 person gig. Today the registers weren't working and it was the final mail in the coffin for me. I will be going across the street to pret from now on.

Cindy M.

Yelp
[873] This Whole Foods Market is located outside of Times Square. Space is tight so this is market has 2 floors. I found a ton of cool items I wanted/needed in this WF location. My only issue was that I couldn't find out to check out. The tellers are not by the front door. I had to go downstairs .. around the corner and then find it. Not clearly marked. If I am in the location I will be back.

Fox E.

Yelp
Not to be confused with the Ho Foods Market which is where Bae and I shop. Located right in the heart of New York City and it's funny because Whole Foods is insanely expensive everywhere in the country and yet it's even more expensive here because they've upped some of their prices to match the Manhattan standards which is disgusting cuz they didn't even need to - if they could have kept the same prices that they have for example in the stupid Buffalo store, they still would have been one of the most expensive places to get groceries in Manhattan so they can basically go f**k themselves.

Little Miss NY C.

Yelp
I live in Hell's Kitchen and this is my favorite Whole Foods to go to because it is the easiest one near me to shop at. Columbus Circle WF has more tourists and more bottleneck/cart traffic situations and the salad bar gets picked over faster and runs out of items faster, despite how large it is. This WF has less cart traffic and more items in stock. Just know before you go that fresh produce and body care items are downstairs and checkout with cashiers is downstairs, but upstairs has all the rest of the food and self checkout stations. Most WF have nice bouquets at a bargain too and the ones I've been buying so far last a while!

Ellie G.

Yelp
This whole food's mayo packets are always expired. Not sure if the dates are expired or if they're stored in a hot place... idc if it's "Sir Kensingtons" if it don't taste right

Nikelly L.

Yelp
Unwelcoming Staff I've been followed all around the store by the security guard on the second floor. I do not look suspicious, I'm not wearing a black hoodie or a ski mask covering my face or anything that would warrant suspicion. I'm wearing a bright purple book bag, clear cut glasses, and a regular black jacket. (Keep in mind, there are many other individuals wearing book bags and jackets; it's winter, some are even wearing masks and scarves that cover their faces) You can fully see my face and hands, and I'm not exhibiting any actions that would be suspicious. And yet, I realized as I'm searching for lunch, that the same security guard as been following me around store. I even put it to the test and walked all the way to the other side of the store, and he followed me all the way there. I walked right out the store afterwards. It's a shame I have to experience such micro aggressive behavior when I simply wanted to buy lunch. Disappointing.
