Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods Market never fails to amaze me with their ongoing deals. In the past, I used to avoid shopping there due to their high prices. However, over the past couple of years, they have become more competitive, especially with the items I regularly purchase from my local grocery stores. Currently, I have made the switch from my regular grocery store's purified water to the 365 water, despite it being slightly more expensive. This decision was influenced by the quality and cleanliness of the water, as well as the rigorous process it goes through compared to the standard gallon of water found in everyday grocery stores. I am extremely pleased with this change as the difference in taste is noticeable. Additionally, I recently discovered pre-pressed tofu at Whole Foods Market, priced at $2.45, just a bit higher than my usual purchase. However, I find it to be much more convenient than having to press the water out of tofu myself. Whole Foods Market has now become my go-to spot for pressed tofu. I thoroughly enjoy walking through the market as they offer a wide variety of produce that is of top-tier quality. Their ready-to-eat prepackaged meals are excellent, although they may be slightly out of my price range. Nevertheless, I occasionally treat myself to them and have never been disappointed. The checkout process at Whole Foods Market is straightforward, allowing customers to either opt for self-checkout or have a cashier assist them. Shopping at Whole Foods Market is always a relaxing experience, with the added convenience of available parking.

Whole Foods is like the model student of lifestyle: dressed in Lululemon, sipping cold brew, self-disciplined and environmentally conscious. It is said that the average price here is 40% higher than that of Costco, but all the products are labeled as organic, high-quality, eco-friendly and low-fat. The zero-tolerance attitude towards artificial colors and flavors is really attractive to many health and fitness enthusiasts. You often see such people. The first category: Regulars at the gym With a fit and toned physique, wearing tight tops and leggings, they walk with their heads held high even when pushing a shopping cart, as if doing low-intensity aerobic exercise. Their shopping carts must contain: * Organic chicken breasts * Avocados * Greek yogurt * Protein powder with names that are hard to understand Their goal at Whole Foods is also very clear: Not "What should I eat tonight?", but * 👉 "What kind of person am I?" Not "Is this cheap or not?", but * 👉 "Are the ingredients clean?" They say that for losing fat and building muscle, what you eat is more important than exercise. This is probably why Whole Foods is the favorite of self-disciplined fitness enthusiasts. The second category: The Firm Believers in Health Preservation. For some people, health preservation is deeply rooted in their genes. They will spend five minutes examining the origin, acidity, and cold-pressing process of a bottle of olive oil before solemnly putting it in their shopping cart. They will stand in front of the shelves for ten minutes just to compare the ingredient lists: * Is this olive oil single origin? * Does that yogurt contain added sugar? * Is this bag of snacks gluten free / dairy free / soy free / guilt free? The third category: Middle-class families with children. You can still see such scenes here: children trying organic snacks, parents checking the ingredient lists, and the whole family being highly consistent about the "no additives" aspect. Here, you will suddenly understand why "education anxiety" and "diet anxiety" often coexist in the same community. What you see as buying food is actually a complete life cycle: Fitness → Health → Stable mood → Feeling good about oneself If one can live and eat and drink in such a self-disciplined way for a long time, what place would there be for fried chicken, french fries, hamburgers and cola? If Trader Joe's is the kind of place that says, "I'm not expensive, but I'll make you happy," then Whole Foods is the epitome of the sophisticated middle-class, declaring, "I'm pricey, but I have my reasons."

I love going to Whole Foods Market. This particular store is not bad, but the one at 2101 Pennsylvania Ave Philadelphia is much better, bigger, and cleaner. We only stopped by the store on 929 South Street because we were walking around that area of the city. I want to draw the administration's attention to the clear plastic cover over the soups. I understand it’s there to protect the soups from potential debris, to prevent people from breathing or sneezing on them (potentially), and so on. But this cover is installed so low that you have to twist your arm with the ladle to pour soup into a container without scalding your fingers with the boiling liquid. Also, one star off for the prepared pizza—it looked “dead,” like mummified.

This is not suburban Whole Foods sized store and while that is a shame, this is a very good urban market. Their meat and fish counters are the best you'll see in any "grocery store". Their bakery produce section are good, too. Prepared foods are convent but can look a little old on the buffet. I find the selection of seeds, nuts, grains & beans to be too pricey and sometimes not well stocked, especially since they removed the bulk weigh-your-own section for these times. Other markets in town do a better job with such items.

Clean, well-stocked market with staff who are generally friendly and helpful. It's our go-to grocery for getting vegan baked goods, soups and fresh veggies. They have seasonal plant displays inside and out. We appreciate getting the Amazon discount, and their prices are okay.

Never been to a Whole Foods with such friendly service. Been here like 10 times now met different employees every time and everyone has been super helpful and friendly. I usually wouldn’t review a grocery store but wanted to leave a review because I’m genuinely surprised by the friendliness.

I usually go to the Whole Foods on the parkway, which is pretty nice. This location is nice as well, just a bit small. What’s not nice is the security they have following you while you shop. The caviar and cupcakes were great though. Maybe next time when you profile, be a little bit more inconspicuous.

What can i say, whole foods brand dairy free cheese is the best do far. Whole Foods vegan bratwursts and take and bake gluten free bread the produce is great, the seafood and meats departments always have the best selection. Deli and prepared foods and the pizza bar are really good. Love the selection of organic and conventional items. Lots of specialty items.tje cheese department has so many cheeses to choose from and beer and wine have a great selection too! Let's not forget the sushi bar ooooohhhhh yummmmm!!!!

I have to give a massive shoutout to Shaina, the incredible pizza maker at Whole Foods on South Street. To be honest, I wasn't initially sold on their pizza--I had tried it once or twice over the years and wasn't too impressed. That completely changed the day my daughter noticed Shaina working her magic behind the counter. The variety of pizzas Shaina had crafted looked amazing, and my daughter and I both thought, These pizzas are worth a try. Let me tell you--they blew us away. The flavors, the creativity, and the quality were absolutely outstanding. Ever since that first bite, we've been hooked. Now, whenever we see Shaina is the one making pizzas, we don't even think twice--we grab a slice (or a few) and bring some home for the rest of the family. Our favorite slices? The pepperoni, ricotta and garlic, and my son adores the mushroom and caramelized onion pizza he says its "artisan" not bad for a 9 year old!--all are unbelievably delicious but my daughter says the classic plain is so tasty she's good with just that! Although Shaina is quiet, her flavors and finesse with her cooking speaks loud and clear! What makes this experience even more special is how much of an impact Shaina has had on my daughter. One of our last visits was so memorable that my daughter felt compelled to call the store and tell the manager how phenomenal Shaina's pizzas were and how much we appreciated her service. The manager assured us they'd acknowledge her, but when we saw Shaina weeks later, she mentioned she hadn't heard anything about it. So, I'm leaving this review to make sure it's known just how amazing Shaina is--not only for her pizza-making skills but also for the positive impression she's left on my daughter. As a young girl of color, my daughter has found inspiration in Shaina's culinary flare and passion for her craft. Shaina, if you're reading this: we adore your pizzas, and we hope this review gives you the recognition you deserve. And as always, my daughter's tip for you is to add more basil! Thank you for being the reason we keep coming back and for making our visits to Whole Foods so special. Keep being amazing!

Long wait at the fish counter as the single fish counter person opens shellfish. They should have more staff when doing this. Or let customers know that the wait might be 15 minutes or more

I knew right when it happened that Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods would be the end of an all-time run. One can't help but draw a parallel to when a 34 year old Kobe Bryant blew out his Achilles. Everyone wanted to believe he would come back the same, but deep down, we all knew. It was over. To be clear, there is no hate in my heart towards Amazon. I am a prime member and that two day guaranteed shipping has saved me more times than I can count when the Holidays come around. It has been a godsend at times. However, I knew that their data-driven approach that puts consistency and profit over everything would not mesh with everything I had come to know and love about the Whole Foods culture. One thing I loved about prime Whole Foods was that every store you went to was different and had a unique feel. It had such a personal touch that I imagine was a reflection of the local community and the team members. When I would travel or be in a new city, I'd do my best to get to the Whole Foods there just to see what the vibe was. You could really get a feel for what the city was like. Different produce, different meats, different niche brands that you couldn't find anywhere else, different food at the hot bar, different local merchants, etc. I will never forget the Whole Foods in Hillcrest, San Diego and their $5 brussel sprouts happy hour. My college roommate and I were LIVING in there in 2015. We got to know the servers, coffee bar and juice bar workers, employees working the checkout register, etc. I need to shout out Nancy, who was a server at the restaurant in the back. We'd walk in and she'd shoot us a big smile and point at us while saying "brussel sprouts?" She'd ask about our lives and how our classes were going and all that. Damn I wonder what Nancy is up to now lol big shoutout to Nancy. My roommate got a Whole Foods hat from a friend he made at the juice bar and it was too small for his head so he gave it to me...it was also too small for my head ahahaha but I wore it with so much pride. "Y'all don't have a Whole Foods Hillcrest hat!?!?!?! Couldn't be me!!!!" We returned in 2019, and I'm sure you can guess. No brussel sprouts happy hour. No restaurant in the back. No familiar faces. No familiar products. No Nancy........... You get where this is going. Walking into this Whole Foods on South Street yesterday felt no different than walking into a Ralph's. There is no character, there is no local community feel. Everything is the same as it is at every other Whole Foods. The cool local brands seemed to have disappeared entirely from the shelves. They have seemed to stop the war they were waging on GMOs. Perhaps this is just anecdotal evidence, but the employees don't seem to enjoy being there like they used to. People used to genuinely enjoy working there, or at least were great at faking it ahahaha. Now, it just feels like any other grocery store with slightly better products but at a much higher cost. I used to get inspired walking into a Whole Foods, like damn what cool new snacks, produce, drinks, meats, or hot bar items am I gonna find today!? Now, I just get sad. It reminds me of that band or artist that you grew up loving when they are on the come up. They are young and hungry and speak to you and your soul... but then they have that hit album or get that big record deal, and they just aren't relatable anymore. They lost the hunger and the fire. But maybe that's just the way life goes. Every star in the solar system will die at some point. Okay sorry I'm getting a bit dramatic, let me close this up. Case study: $13.79 for a pint of milk. The amount of price gouge on this location is insane. Unless you're unbelievably rich, your only real grocery option in cc remains to be Trader Joes.

I placed an online order for a few grocery items for pick up, for the first time. I was given the option to substitute if my selected items were not available. I was able to select a time frame for pick up. I received confirmation that my order was received. I was then notified that my order was ready. There is a prompt to select when "10 minutes away". Upon my arrival I checked in online and stood at the pick area in the store. There is an awesome sale on Body Care items and Candles. A nice young lady named Sanaa appeared with my items that she bagged with care. Thank you Sanaa. Chi in produce helped me locate "Veggie Wash". I then grabbed some veggie sushi and noticed a non-alcoholic wine across from the sushi bar. As I walked to the checkout area, I noticed non-alcoholic Rose'. I was going to treat myself and try the Rose', so I thought I proceeded to self checkout. After scanning my "Prime"barcode I scanned the Rose' (NON-Alcoholic)! The screen indicated that "alcoholic" beverages cannot be purchased at self checkout. Wait, What??? A store representative came over and said that I would need to purchase the Non-alcoholic Rose' in the alcohol section. I am with a cane and did not feel like picking my items up to go in another section to purchase something that I did not get in that section and did not see signage indicating that. I gave the Rose' to the representative and purchased the few items I had.

Very convenient, located deep in the neighborhoods of apartment and houses of south street. This place takes your Amazon orders as a pick up location per locker and also a place to drop off your items for return. Super convenient and fast! Though it's a small place, it has a lot of essential food items for day to day needs. Also has a small toiletry aisle with organic shampoos, soaps etc. There are buffet style food counters to pick up some thing to go. Their pizza is pretty darn good though watch out for flies, I've seen some flying in and out of it. Highly recommend some sorta bug zapper.

I bought a precooked Thanksgiving dinner at Jenkintown,Pa. The turkey was as hard as a rock and the stuffing had too much seasoning! I got a refund for the turkey. It went right into the trash along with the stuffing. Next year I will make my own dinner.

I can't get enough of their tangerines and fresh mozzarella. The organic vegetables are wonderful. The staff is very helpful. Fast check out.

This Whole Foods Market is located nearby Philadelphia's Magic Garden, in which I had just finished visiting and highly recommend checking it out if you haven't done so before. It is well worth the affordable admission price ($10 for adults and $8 for students with ID). My husband and I decided to come in here this afternoon to take a break from the heat, grab something to eat and relax a bit before heading out to another adventure of Philadelphia. I really love shopping at Whole Foods and thought this was probably the smallest location that I have been to. But anyway, I really love Whole Food's dessert section, cookie bar, hot and cold food bar and also their in store bar. On this visit, we ended up picking up a few different desserts, which I thought was interesting to pick and place in a to go container myself, as opposed to having to order at a display case (in which that is how I have always done it at other Whole Foods locations). I ended up getting a cheesecake, a pistachio tart, a cannoli (my husband really wanted that) and a fruit tart. I love the consistency of these $2 desserts from one location to another. After we paid for our items, we headed to the small eating area, which is next to their little bar. My husband ended up ordering a beer, Blueblood, $7. This hard cider has guava and passion fruit, making it a little sour. I thought it wasn't bad and my husband liked it. If I lived in this area, I would definitely try to take advantage of the happy hour where you save $1 on a 16 oz beer or wine by the glass, Monday- Thursday, 4-6 pm. Service with both cashiers were nice and friendly. Have no complains.Just thought this location was on the small side. Please note that there are 2 restrooms by the store room, in the back of the store. You will need a code to use it, so be sure to ask the employee (I think the code that I used today is 245 but cannot fully recall if that it is for sure).

Look Whole Foods is a known quantity. It has a lot of good things, a few bad things, and isn't breaking new ground. But its prepared foods are never cloying like Wegmans for example, its produce is extremely fresh, and of course it has a groovy selection. Delivery has declined since they started charging a fee (the inverse of what I expected), I have basically given up. Their delivery people are by and large very good, but the shoppers are either given a weird algorithm or there is something wrong with them, I get only a fraction of what I order, with improbable omissions. This branch is almost never crowded, unlike the chaotic Pennsylvania Av branch, and there is very little traffic, again the opposite of its bigger brother. Staff are nice, I have never been treated gruffly at this store, and the clientele is a pleasant mix. This isn't Di Bruno's or one of the NYC specialty markets like Fairway. But it is a relaxed and easy place to do a big shopping trip. Quirks? Their chicken salad is like crack, it is that good. And they don't have unpackaged smoked salmon and their packaged smoke salmon is of variable quality (I have tried them all). Which highlights the worst property of Whole Foods, that they only sell their own brands. I know they are supposed to be expensive, I only notice that they push more expensive things (like organic produce), rather than their being more expensive for precisely the same items. Produce is a good place to see this. Packaged items are harder to compare, because they are pushing their own or exotic brands.

Excellent store, selection, and staff. A great addition to the neighborhood. I go regularly and never have any issues.

I encountered the rudest man at the Meat counter. I needed Schmaltz to make Matzoh ball soup. I get "nope" SomI asked oh, do you have it frozen? "Nope" walks always. I'll just drive to Wegmanns from now on

The food at Whole Foods is fine. The service is fine. The ambiance is not good at all during the weekdays from whenever they open until 5:00 p.m. thanks to the Caucasian security guard who thinks it is okay to profile people with a darker hue. He absolutely should not be working security with his state of mind. He has indoctrinated his partner into the same state of mind who profiles people who look like him. I have shopped at Whole Foods which was formerly Green Grocery on Callowhill Street that became Whole Foods in about 1993 or 1994. I shop as a free spirit, not as a color. The experience with this dude has really pissed me off. He has problems and I already complained to management about what he is doing. There is no reason, whatsoever, to deem me as suspicious. If I were a thief shouldn't he have approached me by now??? I'm retired and I don't have time for this disrespect. I don't have any problems with any security other on other shifts. Why not put a sign "No Coloreds Allowed at Whole Foods." You 3 Stars for the food and service, 2 points taken off for my experience with the inept security profiling scheme.

I have not made a Yelp post in years! However, today I logged on to comment about my experience at this Whole Foods. I have lived in the Washington Square West neighborhood for almost six years. This Whole Foods is my main grocery store. I visit the grocery store often during the week because I work from home. If I do not feel like making lunch or dinner, I visit their salad or hot bar stations. Also, it is a way to get me out of the house. Last week I was followed around the store SEVERAL times. I have never run into security in such a small store so often in such a short time. Once I almost hit her with my cart. I was so confused about this visit that I spoke to several friends and family members about it, and they agreed I was being followed and possibly racially profiled. On this day, security was an African American/Black woman with long curly hair. I am also Black. To test out my theory, I visited the store several times, and though I was not followed as closely as I was that day, each time that I visited the store, I was scrutinized before I guess they made a decision and decided I was not a "threat" and walked away. I did not see such behavior exhibited toward other customers. I am unsure what occurred at this location for the behavior of the store workers to change, but also, perhaps it has always been this way at this location, but I never noticed. Again this is my neighborhood grocery store, which is unfortunate. The next time this occurs, I will speak to the security guard and the manager.

Tried a tasty dairy free cake from this location recently and loved it. You could tel that it's made from organic, good ingredients. The frosting was very creamy even without the dairy, which was exactly what I hoped for. Cake was light and airy but complimented the frosting well. Very pretty flowers on the cake too!

I have been shopping solely at Whole Foods since Covid. But, now I am so disappointed. They continue to discontinue the items that distinguish them from being a regular grocery store. A month ago they discontinued "No Salt" Turkey in their prepared foods section. According to the store, this was a best seller over all other turkeys. But the corporate team decided to discontinue it and replaced it with turkey that is brined with salt and sugar (to keep moist). This is not great for customers who shop there and are trying to cut salt and sugar out of their diets. Another reason to stop shopping at Whole Foods. I can get brined turkey for less money anywhere else. So unfortunate. They used to be health conscious. Not anymore.

In for my weekly salad supplies, fresh fruit and Ellenos yogurt, Whole Foods has exclusive flavors.

As everyone calls it "Whole Paycheck". Ridiculously over priced. Waited 25 minutes to pick up an on line order, but apparantly the person in charge of that was on break, then was told to call Amazon for a refund, which I still haven't received, and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get it issued. An absolute nightmare. Turned me off of Whole Foods and Amazon for good.

This place has gone to shit. I literally just cannot shop here anymore. The problem is that the employees who are working the aisles do not care about anyone. They don't keep a social distance. They don't follow the signage on the floor directing you on which way to go down which aisle. This is my biggest gripe. I go out of my way to make sure I am going down the way indicated, and I'm sure other customers disobey, but at least the staff should be doing the right thing. They just DON'T. I just moved to this area a few weeks ago and moving forward I just cannot see myself shopping here anymore. It's too frustrating of an experience, every time.

There are certain items I have only been able to find at this Whole Foods over the years. Specialty items. And they have always been there and if they are out, no big deal just order online. The other day I came to grab one and a young man who worked there asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and he rudely said, "uh yeah we wouldn't sell an item like that, maybe you should go down to the ACME." Seriously? It was so arrogant. And rude. Never encountered that before. I was only looking, but I won't anymore. Probably best to tell your younger staff to be a little more courteous Whole Foods.

We stopped here while waiting for our time to get into Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. I got an iced chai latte. It was really good -- flavorful and not too sweet. We found some seats and hung out for a bit. They have free WiFi which is nice. It's a pretty small Whole Foods, probably the smallest I've been in, so the seating area isn't very big. It's also pretty crowded. It's good for stopping to grab what you need, but don't expect your full size Whole Foods.

I honestly come here a couple of times a week and have never thought to write a review. My review is for the actual physical store and not the delivery/pickup services. Overall, it's exactly what you would expect it to be. I've never had any issues with their produce, fish, poultry, bakery, or grocery/pantry sections. My only complaints about the actual food would be that I've purchased milk from here a few times only to have it go bad a few days later and the hot bar is pricey (which is to be expected but damn...). I wouldn't get the hot bar again after the one time and somehow spent $15 on 1/2 a container full of food. Their flowers always last long, they have a nice selection of foods, and the staff have always been friendly. So my complaints regarding this store are the actual people inside of it, the people doing the shopping. I'm not sure what the deal is with these secondary services that have other people grocery shop for you and if it's more than one service but those folks are just rude! The store is constantly PACKED full of these shoppers who have no idea what they are doing, blocking aisles, stopping in the middle of the store to look at their phones, pushing you out of the way to get past you, etc. About a year ago I saw a significant increase in these individuals and it's legitimately the worst part about shopping in this Whole Foods. I feel like people order items online/through an app and the workers get there and either don't know what the item is so they block the shelves just staring and looking for something, don't know where an item is so they are rushing down every aisle, or try to google what something is so they just stand there blocking everybody. Maybe more workers on the floor could help, I'm not sure. Overall, it's a nice store with a good selection and whose products I've never really had complaints about. As far as the price goes, I can honestly say it's cheaper than the other store on the opposite corner (you know which one I am talking about, I just can't say it here). I have gone from that store to Whole Foods for different items (Whole Foods doesn't sell Goldfish, which I love), and been disappointed I bought something at the other store and it was cheaper at Whole Foods. I'll be back!

I mostly enjoy shopping here. It's conveniently located, has good bakery and produce sections, and self-checkout is quick. However, the last 4 times I've bought milk, it smells off by the second or third day after opening. Not quite spoiled but on the cusp of turning, like milk is when you have one more good day before tossing. I check the dates before buying and they are far enough out. I also have not had this problem with milk from Acme or Trader Joe's, so it's not my refrigerator. I think the problem is that there are no glass doors to the egg, milk, and yogurt section. You walk up and grab what you want off convenient open shelving. So I'll continue shopping here for select items, but from now on I'll get my dairy from other stores that use contained refrigeration.

If you ever think about ordering groceries from Whole Foods to be delivered by Amazon, don't do it. It won't get to you. Even if you're a paying prime member, you won't get your food. And they won't tell you until the 11th hour. I am canceling my prime membership and I will never order anything from Amazon again.

We came to this location of Whole Foods for the first time in forever this past weekend to avoid the 'Made In America' chaos we would've encountered headed to the location we usually shop at across The Parkway. Instead we encountered chaos here.... I'm not one to feel claustrophobic, I mean I sleep in tents sometimes, but this place is the stuff panic attacks stem from. Ugh!! The aisle are so small, so tight and so packed. I never noticed it before! I kept saying to hubs "I can't. I just can't". If given the option, I would never shop at this location and don't recommend it unless you live very close by. If you can get to the other one easily, I would absolutely go there instead. In fact, I would personally go completely out of my way to go to the other location in Philly...period. Not only were some of the shelves empty, one elevator was broke while the other one took FOREVER. To boot, the employees were ALL miserable!! I asked someone for help and they didn't even turn around from stocking the fridge shelves to answer me. The cashier barely said "hello" and the guy pushing the carts almost ran us over and didn't flinch. I have definitely been spoiled with the customer service at the new location and have honestly come to expect certain high standards when shopping at WFM in general. This location was sorely lacking. The saving grace for us here was frolicking with the kiddos on the rooftop with 360 views of the city and the photo ops the Isaiah Zagar mosaics provided. I actually referred to this trip as the equivalent as shopping at Walmart on Del Ave on payday. Ugh!!! Never again. Generous stars because in the end, it is a WF.

Fast checkout because there are many express registers for 20ish items. They upgraded the dessert displays to make it more appealing. The pizza is really good. The crust is very moist. Sometimes there are samples. Get the mochi by the sushi area. It's self serve wit plastic containers next it. Very good, not too sweet.

Ironically, where I lived previously in a small town, going to Whole Foods was like a pilgrimage. Now in the wilds of suburbia and in the city, I'm literally surrounded by them. This particular WF is just 2 blocks from my office. It's a welcome oasis to sit during my lunch break, plug into free 2 hr wifi if needed, buy a drink while I indulge in using their sitting area for lunch I bring in myself. I'll probably take full advantage of their lunch buffets, which for $7.99 a pound, can actually be a bargain if you choose salads with lightweight ingredients.

Horrible customer service here. The cashier was rude, didn't care to tell me how I could get my Amazon discount and seemed pissed overall with life. I've seen better service at Acme.

It's almost 5 minutes past 8am and the obnoxious security guard is is forcing patrons to stand out in the rain. Update 4/25/20, unfortunately I have not shopped at this location since they instituted the social distancing line out front. Acme next door is similar in size and they are able to accommodate shoppers without forcing them to wait outside in the elements. I usually shop for certain items at WFM, which I am able to purchase at other stores. The beer is a better deal however.

I enjoy knowing there's a Whole Foods in the city. Been to the one in Fairmount area. I think that one is more well equipped for a Sunday rush compared to this one in south street. Every Sunday afternoon, this WF shelves(especially at produce) is empty. I totally get that the mass Sunday shopping for the week is much busier. However weekend after weekend it is filled with instacart shoppers who are only there to fill orders and could careless. it is tough to shop. Also ... some of the cashiers here are less than friendly. No "hello" no "have a good day." Just not your typical WF vibe. Sad- my bf went to order a pizza at the hot foods. The guy working/manages the spot was rude. Again totally get it long day. But to talk to customers with your back turned and half answer responses... He waited five minutes for the man to acknowledge him then turned his back asking what my bf wanted. If I can't make it to the Fairmount one, I guess I'll stop by TJs instead. Bummer really.

Don't lose your receipt, I was confronted by two aggressive men who apparently are security and asked for my receipt on the parking lot floor. They bullied me into going back inside to pay again and I was just caught off guard and shocked that I did! And now I've paid twice!! I needed the groceries for dinner and I just wasn't thinking to fight back. Worst experience ever.

Always tight and crowded... but such is many Philly businesses. Plus with the Amazon merger the prices are right back up there. Decent selection though.

Always out of something. At least one out of two elevators always broken - chronic problem that's a decade old. Is this store not making enough revenue to provide better CX?

Sadly the original art machine that I mentioned is no more, which does kind of suck. But at the same time I found this out I found out that shopping here on late Wednesday afternoons is the best thing ever! From 5 -7 every single department serves free food. and you really end up getting a whole meal out of the deal. So it's the only time that grocery shopping on an empty stomach really pays off.

Not my favorite Whole Foods location. There needs to be more attention paid to the hot foods, soups and salad bar,which is often a disaster (e.g., half filled abandoned containers everywhere, spills, food the remains unstirred for hours developing a filmy coating on it) I thought both times I went on Saturday and the breakfast food was out or burned at 9 am were one off days. Today, 9 soups were out and burning at the bottom of the pan at 7pm. When I asked when the soup would be refilled, the staff response was "we take it away at 8 anyway, so there won't be any more" Decided to go and get sushi. Couldn't eat it because the rice was completely stale. The prepared food at this location is pretty untypical of a Whole Foods. Variety also has questionable nutritional value in the hot foods bar/salads. Most items are fried or coated in extra mayo.

I love the selection of gluten free food. My perspective of Whole Foods has always been that it's overpriced for what you get, but recently that's changed. Having the opportunity to get gluten free safe food is incredible.

One of the most vegan friendly Whole Foods locations in the country. Great selection, and a store layout that is surprisingly easy to navigate. Fantastic prepared vegan options like salads and ready to eat entrees, as well as a wide variety of choices at the hot food and salad bars. The real stand out are their vegan desserts. You MUST try the oatmeal sandwich cookie-two huge oatmeal raisin cookies sandwiching sweet delicious vanilla icing. One of my favorite desserts in the world, for just $3. You will need to share with a friend, or prepare to fall into a sugar coma. Staff here is always friendly and helpful, and the lines move quickly. Conveniently located on South Street.

please be aware instacart will charge your card even if you dont have a subcriotion! i caught them tonight they tryed to get money out of an old card i left on instart never leave your card,,meanwhile i never ever had a subcription..please cheak your shi--- and be careful,,,,i never used them only once i never open. a subcription! theives!

This is about bread. And bread only. Many breads at Whole Foods are very good. The baguettes here however are not. In fact, they are sad and mushy and not worthy of being called a baguette, nor a Whole Foods product. When asked at two different WF stores recently (Jenkintown and Fairmount/PHL) about the mushy sad baguettes, bakers at both stores recommended leaving them out to get a crunch. Well, that's a stale baguette, not a properly baked baguette. Just don't sell 'em if this is the best you can do. A baguette should have a crunch. If you're six years old and saw Ratatouille once or twice you know this. Disappointing. Thank goodness there's Baker Street Bread in Chestnut Hill that consistently makes wonderful baguettes. And even the bakery at the discount chain Lidl does a much better job at understanding what a baguette is and should be. Life is short . Don't eat sub-par bread.

Beware of ordering Whole Food party platters online, and paying in advance with a credit card. When I got there at the appointed hour, the "shrimp trio platter" ($49.99) I had ordered three days earlier was not prepared. After a debate between the deli and seafood departments about who was responsible for this failure, they did offer to make something while I waited. However, I had a party to host (without shrimps) and so we agreed that I would not be charged for the non-existent platter. Unfortunately the online ordering process does not allow for store-originated cancellations due to failure to prepare. Even after 3 phone calls and many reassurances, the store has not been able to figure out how to get the charge off my credit card. It's now a week and things aren't looking hopeful. The lesson: Don't pay for your Whole Foods party platter until you actually see your party platter.

Highly recommend this gelato! It tastes incredibly fresh and is really refreshing the passion fruit is my favorite. Nancy Silverton really does a great job!

Tried to walk in at 9:50 PM when they were closing at 10 PM. Just needed to grab some water. An employee was blocking the door saying that she was told not to let anyone else in. Maybe change your hours!

Very similar to traders joe and Wegmans. I come here for my organic needs and cheese . They have awesome cheese selections here but Wegmans got a bigger variety . I can't travel to Wegmans all the time so whole foods does it job . Not as big as Wegmans but it will do . Their desserts isn't the greatest. The few times I've tried desserts I wasn't very impressed . Yeah they look cute , fancy, and pretty but to be precise it is bland . That's why I never buy them anymore . I'll just sticks to my local bakeries for my sweet treats . Very helpful staffs when asked for help . Place is always clean and organized .

I stopped in to grab a few things for the ride to JFK. I rarely shop at the chain unless I'm traveling and then I appreciate being able to get healthier items and care less about the cost. The best thing is when I got back to the car I saw a couple more of Isaiah Zagar tile murals I missed and we got to see another alley full of art before we left town.

This review is going to focus on two excellent departments of Whole Foods. First, the seafood section; as a seafood lover, I am very particular about the seafood I buy. Whole Foods offers an excellent variety of seafood. For me seafood must be fresh, never frozen. Most of the time Whole Foods labels it's seafood as fresh when it is. When in doubt ask the attendant. A word to the wise, I'm told Whole Foods get seafood deliveries daily except Thursday. Seafood prices are very moderate compared to others... especially if you shop the sales. Second, the cheese section offers a wide variety of cheeses from various regions of the world. Some cheeses are hard to find. I am a fan of Talegio from Italy. Many cheese shops don't carry it. Whole Foods always has it. Most of the cheeses offered are fairly priced. Here again show the sales.

This place is really really expensive. However, if high quality produce is your game, you've come to the right place. I am a big fan of their salad bar. I love stopping in for a quick meal. This is also a great place to stop to get alcohol during a South Street block party.

This is not my favorite Whole Foods location. Although they have a water filtration machine , they often lack essential organic produce, leave the hot food section wanting, and do not carry the same selection as the other locations in the city. To me its location and walk ability make this store desirable.

With Amazon taking over and planning to slash prices, I hope shopping here doesn't take my whole paycheck away anymore lol. It's a smaller WF compared to other ones I've been to, but it's such a good use of small space. Pretty much has everything that every other WF has, but I've seen more foods and coffee options at other WFs. Their staffs are always the nicest.

Good prepared food options but it is a little expensive. You can get a wine or beer with your meal just check out by the beer section.
