The 16 Best Caribbean Restaurants In LA

"Brown stew chicken, escovitch red snapper, and cow foot simmered in Jamaican curry—this tiny Mid City restaurant serves it all. Located in a bright yellow building on Pico, Wi Jammin is a complete neighborhood staple, a place where you’ll eat among families who have been coming here for years. On the weekends, they serve crab legs, spiced and seasoned in a signature herb rub. " - brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins

Nice people and great Jamaican food! Thursday Jerk Chicken Special for $14. Half chicken, rice, salad, and even plantains. Cash only! Learned the hard way the first time. Cash only and get there early to avoid lines. Great stuff!

The oxtails were so soft and fell off the bone. Hard to explain, but I can taste the flavor of these oxtails better than other restaurants. The rice and peas were al dente. I like to mix the oxtail sauce with the rice.

Oxtail flavor was perfect with a good portion size!! The brown stew fish is delicious. The rice and peas is delicious. The patty is yummy. The curry chicken is good and tender but none of the food is spicy so have your own hot sauce ready… The jerk chicken is a no. It’s extremely dry and lacks flavor. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

A friend of mine ... wanted too celebrate her birthday here... I've been too this place many years ago with my husband... and too my surprise... they've due a big remodel (all for the best)... in lieu of ... they must have changed cooks too... cause when I tell you this food made me feel like... I was in a little Jamaican restaurant on the island ... so full of favorite & tasty ... even if you're not in the area... come too the area .. and try this place... you will not be disappointed.... Customer service was great and the wait wasn’t long. I got the small jerk chicken plate. The only thing I didn’t necessarily care for was the jerk sauce. It was a red sauce. It reminded me of jerk sauce mixed w some type of hot sauce. I’m used to a brown sauce. Food was fresh and a large portion. I would still go back but would try something different.

I’ve been coming to WI JAMMIN since 2018, and let me tell you, this is easily one of the best Jamaican restaurants in Los Angeles no contest! I had the ackee and saltfish, callaloo and saltfish, rice and peas, dumpling, banana, and sweet potato, for breakfast and every bite was pure perfection. Authentic flavors that truly hit the spot! 💯💯💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We used to drive many miles to eat at this restaurant. The good ...when its good its good. The bad....when its bad its very bad. Suffice to say. I love supporting the community even if I don't live there anymore. But with the recession and all. Money is tight. I don't believe its possible to give me what I think $30 dollars is worth. When it becomes cheaper to eat in then it is to eat out. That's a problem. So say I take 4 people and we all get a large plate that's $120 not including any drinks or patty's. Now for $120 I can make the same meal for 4 people with money left over. Now add to that a lack of consistency. The portions lack consistency. While the food is usually pretty good. If you have to drive 20 minutes like I do. You expect consistent food after a long drive. 3 stars cause while the food is good. There are tons of places to eat at that price point. In a city with so many people and even more choices to eat out. Owners don't think about that. So, for $120, I can cater at other spots and get more food; or I can just eat at a cheaper place. So, we are now asking where can we eat for $120 and get more bang for our buck. I may still eat here but the price point pushes me out and makes me find other options more than not. I can afford to eat here maybe once or twice every couple of months.
