We had an event at The Majestic and heard buzz about this new place and had to try it out. I'm so glad we did.
Walking in gives the ambiance of elevation, fine dining, but without a stuffy feel at all. The windows to look in at the oysters getting prepared expertly really set the tone for the evening.
We sat down at our booth. Our waiter came by and greeted us and gave us a rundown of the restaurant and a tablet for the drink menu and regular food menus.
As we were looking over the menus, we were greeted with two complimentary glasses of sparkling wine, Arancinis, and popovers. Excellent touch. The wine was excellent. Arancini was perfect temperature and texture. I do not like white truffle oil at all, and was nervous at the mention of it sitting on top of a white truffle oil aioli, but luckily they weren't heavy handed with it at all. Popovers were prepared perfectly and while they were served with butter, they did not need them at all.
The cocktails ordered were Smoking Gun and the Salted Manhattan. Both were prepared expertly and the flavors were very balanced. Highly recommended both.
Having studied the menu for a few days beforehand, my SO knew he was going to get the beef Wellington, and I knew I was going to get the 8oz filet and share the Cacio e Pepe side. Unfortunately, that side was no longer available, and we pivoted to the 3 Cheese Mac and Cheese. The Caesar salad had the unfortunate white truffle oil included. So, we both passed on ordering a salad, which was disappointing.
When our steaks arrived, our waiter asked us to check the temps. I ordered my steak medium plus, and the beef wellingtons are only served at Medium rare. Both were cooked to the exact temperature desired.
We have been to a lot of steakhouses in Texas and other states. I have to say that was by far the absolute BEST filet I've ever had. It was so tender, juicy, and seasoned the right amount. My SO said his Wellington was "delicious, buttery, and beefy within an excellent puff pastry." That is high praise coming from him.
The 3 cheese mac and cheese was okay. I'm a bit particular about mac and cheese and found the noodles to be a tad overcooked and cheese flavor underwhelming. However, my SO thoroughly enjoyed it.
For dessert we decided to try the Wicked Sundae, and it was worth every calorie. Chocolate and vanilla ice creams topped with hot fudge, brownie chunks, caramel corn, candied pecans, caramel fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry. I am still dreaming about it today.
Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our dinner there. The food, atmosphere, and service were fantastic. Cannot wait to go back again.
