We came here on a calm Sunday evening for my husband's birthday. Whilst this place is pricey, it is most def worth it! From start to finish, we had an absolutely wonderful experience from the hostess to the maître d'. Being a slow evening, it was nice and quiet. The retro decor is accompanied by a low-lit ambiance and table lights, and each staff member was well-groomed and professional.
Starting off at why our experience was so exceptional is Gentry. He is a newer server, but that did not affect his perfectly attentive and amiable service. He ensured we had a top-notch evening. Also, a kind server assistant never let our glasses be lacking in cucumber water. We were greeted with complimentary glasses of bubbly and amuse-bouche which are lovely touches! The amuse-bouche was a scrumptious bite of arancini with truffle, a perfect combo! For y'all who haven't had arancini, if you like risotto, cheese and fried things, it's time you try some! Included with your meal are some popovers (aka Yorkshire pudding) - again, if you haven't had these, you are missing out! Basically, they're bread cooked quickly in a high heat oil to make the outside crispy while the inside retains a more softer, delectable consistency. The ones we had were slightly overcooked, but we weren't too bothered as the inside had a delightful flavor and the accompanied rosemary honey butter put our souls into a state of bliss.
All 5 people at our table ordered steaks to our cooked preference, almost all of which were cooked perfectly! The only one that was slightly overcooked was my mom's who ordered a medium well and she was given well done (I know, I know.... medium well is not how a good cut of meat should be eaten, but we're working on her! haha). Each steak had a wonderful char on the exterior, and these were clearly, very very good cuts.
Side note: a bottle of the Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy accompanied these steaks nicely without breaking the bank.
Appetizers: Probably the BEST steak tartare I've had... the horseradish cream and truffle... ugh. I'm drooling again thinking about it. The Burrata was perfection, just like it should taste and just like I had in Italy. I would come back here just to eat these apps again.
We, also, ordered the wicked wedge, robuchon potatoes, mac & cheese and brussel sprouts. All were great especially the wicked wedge (large enough to split into 2 with a super yummy blue cheese dressing and perfectly crispy candied pecans) and the robuchon potatoes (I have requested to be buried with these amazingly butter packed, creamy potatoes). The brussels were a nice slightly spicy sweet with the chili orange glaze but could've been slightly crispier and the mac & cheese was good, but I expected more flavor for $16.
You know we had to have dessert! I chose the ice cream sundae with brownie bits as the complimentary dessert for my husband who happily ate every bite, and we, also, tried the chocolate tart with peanut butter - this was made with dark chocolate and when Gentry compared it to a peanut butter cup, he wasn't wrong. This is an upscale peanut butter cup though, with the peanut butter on the side! At the end we were brought chocolate chip cookie petit fours (a sweet, complimentary ending to your meal).
Overall, I would 100% come back here to spend our money. Definitely a regal experience! Keep it up guys!
