Where to Find Top-Notch Vegan Burgers in Portland

"This spooky vegan food cart knocks out smashed Beyond burgers with horror-themed names like Van Helsing and House of 1000 No Corpses. Choose between single or double patties with mouthwatering toppings such as black garlic mushrooms, grilled pineapple, and smoky vegan provolone. Customers can also enjoy loaded fries, like the Machette with roasted corn, chipotle mayo, and cotija crumbles. The drinks menu features lemonades with eerie names and fun ingredients — for instance, the Black Dahlia comes with glitter, lavender, and droplets of black food coloring — while its neighboring taproom Leikam Brewing offers kosher beers." - Waz Wu

Yelp
I found Wicked Garden Alchemy through Yelp when I was in Portland for a short trip last August. I was actually having a pretty terrible afternoon and considered just staying at the hotel, but I am SO glad I got out and came here! I wasn't 100% certain I was in right place at first; this food truck is set up next to a little brewery that's in an old house. I ordered the House of 1000 No Corpses burger (I'm a sucker for anything with those little fried onions on it), fries, and a strawberry lemonade. Everything was PHENOMENAL. I sat outside at a litte table, enjoyed the cool breeze (kind of froze this Texan who was wearing shorts, but worth it!), and waited for my food. It was cooked fresh to order so it took a little bit before my number buzzed, but it's SO worth it. So fresh, so amazingly tasty. I believe the woman who took my order was one of the owners - she was so sweet! I will absolutely come here the next time I'm in Portland! (If y'all ever think about expanding to Dallas, Texas... let me know!)

Yelp
So I had a couple of beers at Leikam Brewing, and the food cart in front of me was enticing. Hamburgers. With a horror movie theme. Way cool. My first pick was the "Van Helsing". Popular by everyone. Delicious. Truthfully, I couldn't distinguish between a beyond patty or a beef patty. That's success right there. Very good. It looks like they serve gluten free drinks, loaded fries, chukin' bits and other vegan choices. Quite the accompaniment to an established brewery. Very well done.

Yelp
It should be illegal to eat here because it's sooooooo good and I might go broke if I want to come here every day Near the 82nd-side of the Cartlandia pod, I actually only found out about this cart from a local vegan Facebook group. I wouldn't have noticed it on my own because the signage and menus aren't really clear (my only real complaint) -- aside from an artistic V near the gentle chaos of the menu, I wouldn't have known this place is 100% vegan. Their menus are small and hard to see from a distance, so if you're like me and like to keep about 30 feet from you and a cart so you can admire their menu from a distance, don't -- get close to look and give this place a chance. I ordered the Maleficent (a matcha and ube oat milk drink), the pugsley (a slightly sloppy delicious mess of faux pork, onions, and pickles), and the vampire slayer (garlic parm fries). Sooo freaking good. Even the carnivore friends who sampled the fries were amazed how good they were and said they wouldn't have known they were vegan (cause sometimes faux cheese has weird flavors -- this did not and was amazing). Don't pass this place up. Get some well-proportioned, slightly greasy but not overwhelming, delicious-tasting vegan food!

Yelp
Uh-excuse me?! What?! This hidden gem of a food truck is right next to a great brewery in SE and y'all need to run not walk to eat their food! I had the Machete fries (think elote-street corn) on a basket of fries. A salad with some amazing smoked "meat" that had us questioning. And of course a Wicked burger. The flavors where there and its a women/indigenous owned food truck!

Yelp
The Vanhelsing double burger is our favorite option here. The house of a no corpses double is just ok. We are having non-milk shakes : chocolate /peanut butter and the chainsaw caramel shortbread non-milk shake; they are coffee drink / just ok; see photos.

Yelp
How are there only 20 reviews for this incredible place?!? I cannot believe how delicious the food is. Also the names of the food and beverages are so creative. Sometimes when I go somewhere and have a veggie burger it's dry and not so yummy. When I saw the photos of the burgers I had to try one! I had the Van Helsing burger and garlic Parmesan fries and was blown away. Also I had a lavender lemonade that had glitter in it and omg the COLOR was indigo! I will be going back often this winter it's the best comfort food. The cart is moving to Division and 35th in December

Yelp
One of the best plant based food carts this side of the river! Juicy, savory, burgers. Hot melted grilled cheeze with a pineapple chutney called a Kanaloa. It's literally grilled cheeze heaven. Brilliant idea to pair a chutney with a grilled cheeze sandwich. Fabulous local spot for vegan and non vegan. Leikam Brewery right next door has fantastic beer too! Service is grade A.

Yelp
We found this vendor at the Redlands Saturday Morning Farmer's Market. We were just talking about how to make plant-based nutella and there the stand was--a shining beacon with stuffed French toast. As described by others, it was delicious and we wish we had ordered two of them! The following day, we went to IE Vegan Sunday and this vendor was present and serving lunch. I let them know their stuffed french toast was amazing and they invited me to try their lunch menu and offered me a comp drink (blue curacao pineapple/oj). The drink was delicious and instagrammable, and I decided to try their vegan crunch wrap supreme. The first bite was satisfying with all the flavors and textures that made it hard to stop eating. The little one also enjoyed the flavors and that was a good sign, too. Based on these two experiences, I highly recommend this vendor and look forward to ordering other items from their menu. Since I was busy eating and didn't take any photos, I must try them again, right???

Yelp
When browsing Cartlandia, I spotted this tasty gem! There are so many good-looking/sounding meals on their menu, plus a lot of sweet drink options! It was super hard to just select a few items. I'm going to definitely have to come back soon so I can give more of their options a try. I really enjoyed my order: "Beast" (a vegan patty melt with mushrooms), "Vampire Slayer" (garlic Parmesan fries), & "Lydia" (cookie butter chai drink). Not only is their food delicious, but the creepy/gothic theme is so unique! Love it!

Yelp
Great vegan food and coffee conveniently located in Cartlandia! If you like mushrooms, I recommend the Van Helsing.

Yelp
One of my favorite vegan spots in town! I love the ever-rotating selection of fun drinks and the food is absolutely amazing! The vampire slayer fries don't hold back on the garlic and they are SOOO good!! The staff is also so sweet every time I visit :) will be back as much as possible!!

Yelp
Came here for a quick burger and boy it didn't disappoint! I got the single wicked burger and the dirty coconut chai and they were both delicious. The lady who took my order was friendly and I appreciate that there's some parking. Oh and I also overhead some young men being stoked about what they ordered as well. The only thing I don't love about this cart is how far away it is from where I live! Try it!!

Yelp
The food and the service at Wicked Garden Alchemy is out of this world. I have to say my top 2 vegan burger places that I've tried ever. There were 7 of us and we will all be back. The customer service is top notch. I wish we had pictures but the food was to good.

Yelp
Spooky Vibes for a Spooky Bae and her Hubby we enjoyed our Evil Dead & Ogre drinks (love the names!!) We can't wait to go back and try more things, we loved the aesthetic and the people making the magic happen!! They also let us sample some of the French toast and *chefs Kiss* I love finding places to accommodate my dairy allergy and my 80% vegan diet!! 10/10 loves you guys and wow 29th strong my hubby and I look forward to that long together!!

Yelp
I wish I would have taken better pictures but I just wanted to eat haha. SO DELICIOUS. The staff was so kind and I am so happy it was 100% vegan. Just get it. Go here. Everything looked delicious and everything we got was.

Yelp
Amazing food! We got a burger and their Vampire slayer fries, it hit the spot. They were super friendly, even came out to great outlet cat that we had with us. Totally recommend!

David G.

Yelp
They are incredible people who make amazing food with really fun twists on the average burger. The plant based goth vibes are strong and welcoming to all. My favorite burger is the Wicked, it's simple but it's literally melt in your mouth perfection. Do not sleep on this local vegan truck!

Yelp
I can't express any louder but EAT HERE! The garlic fries were phenomenal, the wicked Garden salad was amazing. How ever the chik'n is made for that salad is *chefs kiss* got The Beast sandwich which was un-freaking believeable. I can't recommend this place enough! Can't wait to try everything on the menu! Service and presentation was great as well, good quality ingredients and fantastic flavor profiles.

Yelp
I love the yummy food and I love that it's vegan. I've already been there two or three times and I'll be back for more. I've really loved everything I've had there. I'm trying to get through the menu.

Yelp
This gem is located in Cartlandia at the #11 spot on SE 82nd Avenue. What can I say but eat here! Eat Here! EAT HERE!! The absolute best vegan burger I have ever had and this includes my own homemade variety. It might seem a bit more expensive but damn! If you want the best, you pay for the best and that is what you will get. Their drinks are just as good as their burgers. I ordered my food to go with the idea of taking it home for dinner. I snuck "just one bite" while driving and my only complaint is that the darn thing disappeared before I finished the 20-minute drive. The drink also had some sort of magic spell that made it evaporate during the drive. I'll be heading back soon for more.

Yelp
You cannot go wrong with this place. Their food got me following them around like the Grateful Dead. The rotating menu keeps it new every time! I can not recommend this place enough. Quit reading and go eat there already!

Yelp
I tried their "El Chapo" at the 'Meatless Monday' debut that took place tonight in the City Church parking lot (4600 block of Pine Street) in Riverside. Despite my trepidation with the name, this was the perfect choice. Great flavor all around and just spicy enough to enjoy the well blended flavors. They didn't skemp on size. My intent was to eat half and save half for later. I lost all discipline and consumed it all in a single sitting. Wow, just wow!
google avatar

Jalissa G.

Yelp
Let me just start off by saying how happy I am to have a vegan pop up vendor in Riverside! Unfortunately there isn't a lot of places for us vegans to eat at. I found them at the Tyler mall farmers market on sundays! The workers are so kind and humble, they put a lot of love and work into their food and you can definitely taste it!! What's even better is it's not your average "tofu & salad" their motto is to veganize every day meals your average person eats, that way vegans can enjoy a larger variety of food! And I admire that so much. They come up with some crazy ideas, and they aren't just healthy food! I definitely get my fix of junk food with their stuffed French toast and loaded steak nachos! Anyways, if this review isn't enough you have to go check them out. Follow their Instagram to find out where they'll be next. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Been sleeping on this place ever since coming to IEveganSundays and today we finally tried the beast. I usually try to get multiple items from multiple shops that are light. I was planning on getting the skewers but decided to actually get the beast. Trust me I've had beyond burgers at many places and I try to venture out a little farther but when it's done different I can't knock it. They had me at garlic Texas toast with chopped up beyond meat with mushrooms and melted cheese. Definitely felt more like a "cheesesteak" sandwich. Everything blended so well and the beyond flavor wasn't overwhelming the other flavors. It cost a little more stomach real estate but definitely worth. Got some leftovers for dinner and next time the skewers most definitely!

Yelp
I stumbled upon Wicked Garden Cafe at Magnolia Center Marketplace on a Saturday evening. I had their Grim Reaper which was kind of like a breakfast sandwich. The stacked sandwich came with vegan chick'un, ham, sausage, and cheese. They coupled it with waffle fries and spicy honee sauce. It was all so flavorful and delicious! If you seen them at a market night or farmer's market check them out. The Inland Empire needs all the vegan options we can get!

Yelp
First of all the cashier who I believe was a co owner was extremely nice! This is the best vegan breakfast place I've had. I'm a new vegan and I'm so happy theres a place like this! There banana bread is amazing and their waffles, grim reaper, sliders, & English muffin sandwich is amazing. My family who isn't vegan loved it. Would definitely come here again

Yelp
Completely delighted to have a place such as this being local to my area. Not many vegan spots so this one being one mile away has made me rejoice ;) breakfast in weekend is absolutely delicious ! Still trying new things on menu . Hope the place is here for the long term

BB V.

Yelp
Yaaas I love this place! Only been here once so far but I was fully satisfied with my experience. The staff were super friendly and eager to answer any questions I had. I ordered the beast sandwich and omg it was amazing. The flavor and visual appeal were there. I also ordered the Gravedigger Frap which was good but a little in the watery side. Definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Very good vegan food. The owner came out and talked to us and was very friendly. I always appreciate a business owner who takes time with their customers. I ordered an Evil Dead drink with coconut milk and dirty chai. I love their horror themed drink menu. I will definitely be back!
