The Best Places to Eat at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) | Eater Chicago

"An airport sushi bar where chefs carve fish to order for nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls rather than relying on prepped product, paired with a fully stocked bar serving classic cocktails, sake, and shochu; the concept trades on a recognizable neighborhood name despite no direct connection to that neighborhood." - Jeffy Mai

The Best Restaurants At O'Hare Airport

"Terminal 1, near Gate C1 Terminal 2, Main Hall Wicker Park doesn’t have a world-famous fish market or a restaurant that’s related to this place, so we can’t tell you why it’s called Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi Bar. What we can tell you is that the maki, nigiri, and sashimi are all solid options if the usual airport diet of fast food, salads, and bags of half-crushed Cheez-Its doesn't really seem enticing. Plus, with a decent amount of tables and a spacious marble bar, it’s one of the nicer looking places for a sit-down meal." - john ringor

Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi Bar Review - O'Hare Airport - Chicago - The Infatuation

"We don't know why this O'Hare Airport restaurant is called Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi Bar (Wicker Park doesn’t have a world-famous fish market or a restaurant that’s related to this place). But we do know that the maki, nigiri, and sashimi are all solid options if the usual airport diet of fast food, salads, and stale bags of Chex Mix doesn't really pique your interest. Plus, with lots of tables and a spacious marble bar, it’s one of the nicer looking places for a sit-down meal. Located in: Terminal 1, near Gate C1 Terminal 2, Main Hall" - John Ringor

Some folks need to level the expectations. This is an airport. I travel extensively and this is the ONLY airport sushi I will eat. Today on a layover, breakfast Poke bowl. Sushi here is really good, fresh, flavorful. Staff is very curious and prompt. Again, airport. I don’t expect gush and butt kissing for a better tip. I’m here to eat, pay and get to flight. HIGHLY recommend, I always make time for sushi at Wicker Park if the connection allows.

Airport food is just airport food. Over priced menu is a given. The sushi here is not bad, about the same as the ones you get from the grocery store or a small Chinese owned sushi take out joint in the burbs. Good sushi rice. Nothing extraordinary, but no complaints. The wings (wingdings) were microwaved from frozen, soggy, do not order! Stick with the Sushi. I think this is the only Sushi joint in T1, full bar, plenty of seats. It gives more options then just burgers and fries.

The team was fabulous! I loved the quality of the spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and half dozen oysters. The taste was fantastic and this was truly a wonderful place to pause and take a quick break before traveling to my gate. The team was prompt and brought over a menu and took my order quickly. Additionally, they went above and beyond and when I asked if they could charge my phone, they plugged my phone right into an outlet nearby. So grateful, this place is absolutely fantastic and I recommend it highly for its sushi. Lunch had seating at the bar and a nice choice of drinks.

Google
Food was good. I enjoyed the geisha roll. You order on your phone and pay through a QR code so they are pretty quick.

Google
This ranks as one of the top places to eat at O’Hare. Got some edamame and a tempura roll and sat in the booth like table. Overall kind servers but I did see one of them eating a whole cucumber and then serving the lates with no time in between to wash hands. Generous portion of edamame.

Google
The food in in-edible. A 17 dollar cold in the middle turkey wrap, covered in pickled onions. Absolutely disgusting. Also the prep person managed to put their thumb through the wrap. Avoid. The servers are great, and feel bad because they have no control over the food.

Google
Great service, good food and fantastic atmosphere. A great place to grab some delicious healthy food at O’Hare airport. They were not too busy and there were plenty of seats. The salad was delicious and the Unagi bowl was absolutely scrumptious! I will definitely stop by again!

Google
This was one of the busiest food places that we walked past in the Chicago O'Hare airport. It was self seating but once we took a few steps in, a staff member guided us to a table. We both ordered a salmon poke with hot sauce on the side. The salmon was incredibly fresh. We were really impressed. Service was also prompt and the staff were all so kind.

Yelp
The service was superb! For this huge airport, this area was quiet and comforting. What we had to eat. Was absolutely delicious, and I was completely surprised. Of course, the prices were absolutely outrageous.

Yelp
I needed my sushi fix. It is between terminal one and two a little far from where I'm supposed to be in terminal three but I don't mind the walk. I continue to have a problem with the understaffing at this place, especially during meal times such as dinner. There is a very limited number of chefs and servers. And many customers are waiting to get their food. At a place like an airport it needs to turn over fast. It has been a little bit of time since I got the seaweed salad and it taste different this time. It taste less like seaweed and much more vinegar. For the summer rainbow roll the micro greens felt a little bit withered

Yelp
Given the food limitations in this Terminal, Wicker is my go to before I am sequestered in the aluminum radiation bombarded tube for hours. Had the tuna poke bowl - has a few sauces so if you don't like glop, watch out. It is good. Also had the shrimp tempura roll, uninspired but good.
google avatar

Gaz H.

Yelp
Uninspired but does the business. They would rather not be here. But they are. Space is decent and the process works. Serviceable.

Yelp
Probably one of the best food options at ORD. Look, it's an airport, not Nobu. But it's GOOD and you won't get food poisoning. Granted the price tag is heavy but whatever. I had a special roll and a spicy tuna roll. Both very good. Only thing was one roll was served way before the other one came out so that was annoying. If you have time to kill for a sit down meal, this is a solid choice.

Yelp
Decent airport sushi, service was really good and quick. I sat by the window and it was nice watching all the planes. They also have high tops with plugs. Prices are on the higher side but it's a given since it's inside an airport.

Yelp
I read about this restaurant as being one of the best airport restaurants at O'Hare (according to various sources), then while walking to my gate, it was nearby and I had the time, so I figured why not. They say the sushi chefs slice the fish onsite, and I was surprised by that when reading the article. While walking by, I saw a sushi chef with a large fish in his hand carving away, so indeed, that is true. Prices are what you would expect at a casual airport sushi restaurant. They're not cheap, but they're not outrageous either. When ordering nigiri, look to spend about $5 per piece, specialty rolls are around $22 currently, regular ones are in their teens, and most apps are over $10. The half dozen raw oysters are decently priced, but I decided to go with a popular selection with yelpers, the Spanish dynamite roll, and I added an iced tea. The roll, while not my usual roll, was the usual fish I order in rolls, and it was pretty fresh, which is most of what I am looking for in a sushi restaurant. I am not a big fan or imitation crab or crab mix, so I wouldn't say it's a 5 star roll, but it's a nice flavor that's fairly filling. Service was quick, as should be expected for a casual airport dining spot..

Yelp
This place is a complete fiasco from start to finish. Start with a sour hostess greeting you up front and taking you to your seat without so much as a smile or comment other than "one?" Then the app for ordering, which you access with QR code says to "see your server." There was none to be found so I chased down the hostess and she said, "Oh, I'll tell them to turn it on." Really? After about 3 minutes and multiple tries the app finally put my order through. I eventually got my water from a server (I guess) who asked if I placed my order. I got my poke bowl pretty quickly so that was nice but I found out it was mine from the sushi chef on the other side of the bar who was asking "poke bowl?" in a way that I could neither hear or understand her. The poke was fine but not worth the price. Five minutes later I got my spicy tuna roll which was dry and small and mediocre. Never saw the server again until using the app to pay was seeming not to work - it was just spinning and spinning for about four minutes. I showed the server that the app was spinning and she said I'll go check. Two minutes later she came back with my check and said it went through (along with my 2% tip for nothing.) Will never go to this place again.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst sushi I've ever had. I would have to saw pre-prepared supermarket sushi is better than this. Had the dragon roll. The tempura was old and stale, no crunch at all. You cannot have tempura without any crispness. The rice was had. The roll was small. Service was non-existent.
google avatar

Masaru O.

Yelp
I got the tuna poke to go. It was... weird. The sauce is more like a tangy hot sauce and it has greens and some other odd things. It just does not fit the standard poke flavor profile. Maybe I should've gone with a roll instead.

Yelp
I was on the last lap of a very delayed and long travel day. Was nice to stop here and tuck into some sushi while waiting for my flight. You won't get terribly attentive service, but that's okay.

Yelp
If you enjoy your airport experience as a solitary experience, this is your spot. You can stay plugged into your favorite audio book, podcast, or Playlist. You'll seat yourself at the bar, view the menu, order, and check out by using the QR codes clearly posted around the space. My meal arrived quickly, was fresh, and presented well. Don't expect a top up on beverages or hovering wait staff. Aside from bringing the food, you won't really see them.
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
Delicious! Always fresh. I purposely get to ORD early or schedule long layover just to eat here. It does get crowded and is pricey.
google avatar

Ryan T.

Yelp
Odd service.. went 10 minutes without anyone even checking in only to be told to place my order with the QR code. Four servers at the bar and only five people dining, so it felt odd to be pushed away from any actual service.

Susie H.

Yelp
The food was disgusting, there was a hair on my flat bread. The server was miserable, and all over priced airport food. Go to the food court and avoid this dirty place.

Yelp
Killing time before my flight in O'Hare I wanted to get a decent dinner (company was fitting the bill) because my work trip cut into my weekend and I needed to treat'myself. Located in a "less busy" corner between terminal 1 and 2, there's a very long bar (allowing for business travelers) but also a seating table area for larger groups. The hostess seated me at the bar next to this clearly intoxicated woman. Her backpack was on the stool I was supposed to sit on, so she got up (very unsteadily) moved her back and then proceeded to trip on it trying to get back into her stool. Luckily she caught herself and then declared that "I almost died so you can sit down." The server came over and got my drink order - I was not ready to order anything just yet, so I started with a water... but you can tell she was eyeing the woman next to me. Later in the meal, I overheard the server tell another server that my neighbor had been cut off a long time ago and she "wouldn't leave or get the hint." Thank goodness for smart phones and airpods since the woman next to me (slurring) was asking me where I was flying to and then some story about how she just finished a weekend bender in Chicago with her friend. I told her I was traveling for work and didn't provide further details... I thought she got the hint so she started talking to her other neighbor so that gave me an opening to put in my order and put my airpods in and pretend I was watching something. Solid spot for a Sapporo, sushi roll, seaweed salad, and soup (especially considering its in an airport). Everything came out super fast... I see the guest turnover is real - it's an airport! Servers were nice and they move you along... maybe not ideal if you are trying to kill time (since they are so efficient) but at least you know you can get good service and sushi at O'hare.

Yelp
The worst. Inattentive staff. You have to order with a QR code, which would be fine if it were functioning. A surly waiter sighed like it was my problem and then said, "Well, do you know what you want??" Just stick to any other options in the C terminal. Avoid this spot at all costs.

Lily S.

Yelp
Well here I am at the Wicker park at terminal C at O'HareAirport. Apparently, if you don't use technology, they won't serve you on a timely manner. The waiter was not at all busy told me you would take a half hour. It was his attitude. I'm actually on the senior status, and if he had asked to help me out, I would've been more than happy to eat here, but apparently I can't eat here unless I'm techie savvy. Considerate elder abuse!
google avatar

Yelp
Easily one of the best places to eat when at O'Hare. The quality of the sushi is very good, and my waitress was super friendly and working very hard to make it a great experience. The atmosphere is casual, and you don't feel rushed. Would highly recommend!
google avatar

Jonathon Q.

Yelp
Anytime I have enough time, I'll stop at wicker park. Their sashimi is always very fresh! The rolls are usually really good! Although I did have the Chicago Dragon recently and it was dry. In my experience, there's is nothing special about the service or staff, average at best. It is airport food but it is very good airport food!
google avatar

Timothy T.

Yelp
Conveniently located sushi place in between terminals. Service was very fast. I stopped by while walking to my next terminal on a layover. It is open air seating and thoughtfully decorated and very clean. Sushi was not bad. Prices are not terrible either. It was worth the stop and to satisfy a sushi craving. Spicy tuna roll was pretty good and relatively inexpensive.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
My go to stop when traveling for work. Food and good atmosphere/vibe from the decor/furniture are the highlights but mainly the food. Service and ordering process are very bad. Ask if you can avoid using the app because it is a nightmare. Poor descriptions of the dishes and you have to click each item individually to get a description so will take forever. Overall I enjoy the food here a lot especially for an airport but it is a little pricey!
google avatar

Cameron R.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with my experience here. When they brought out my food, the plates were dirty, and I had to ask for new ones. Instead of proper replacements, they just gave me plastic plates. The food itself was okay, but definitely not worth $50. For that price, I expected better quality and at least clean dishes. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.
google avatar

Amylynne F.

Yelp
For airport sushi, it's pretty decent. The fancy shrimp tempura roll is my favorite here. I'm not a fan of the California roll. You can get it to go within 20 min (or less). The servers are pretty unfriendly until you're ready to check out, so don't be alarmed, but you'll get a smile eventually. This is my go to place in ORD for food.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Pre pandemic business travel schedule is coming back into play and I've been able to revisit some old O'Hare haunts... Love this sushi place in terminal 2 - leisurely lunch - sashimi super fresh - catching up on some email over a glass of Chardonnay. Glad to see it's still here and going strong.

Yousif O.

Yelp
This place makes grocery store sushi taste gourmet. Super overpriced for the quality that you get. Couldn't even eat the fish it was not fresh at all
google avatar

Kia L.

Yelp
I decided to eat here in the airport because it was right next to my gate, no other reason. Really friendly service but it is extremely slow and staff seem stressed, I had a glass of wine and a signature roll, which was delicious. I'm not sure what the name was because the waitress gave me the wrong one, however she did make it right by providing a free glass of Pinot Noir afterwards!
google avatar

Marc C.

Yelp
The freshest Sushi I've ever eaten, Peroid! Great service and friendly staff and decent ambiance.

Gin C.

Yelp
Giving one star for not getting me sick and one star for being in the airport for options. This is in the hallway between Terminal 1 and 2. There was a line for to go but no one was taking any order. Sit down for food before to go even placed their order. None of the staff had smile or greeted the customer regardless sit down or to go. The price is expensive even for the airport. I ordered a tuna poke bowl to go, which involved waiting for 10 minutes before someone even greeted me another another 10 minutes for getting my food. The bowl was so salty drenched in sauce and the rice wasn't fully cooked through. It was chewy but still has that last bite of hardness. The on-site manager didn't care since there were so many one time transit customers.

Kathy E.

Yelp
Food was fine. Service ok, but a slow start. Wait staff, especially two of the waitresses that were there, when I was there were not friendly. Granted, I was at an airport, but if I am going to tip you could at least fake it a little instead of acting like it was just painful to wait on anyone.

Cordy P.

Yelp
Service was awful. Don't go here! Bartender didn't even look at me for 10 mins (wasn't busy, open chairs). Then asked me what I wanted, I told him the entire order... he said to put it on the app. After that I'd had enough and said "im out".

Joseph D.

Yelp
The food was very good. Service was very slow which I would not expect at a busy airport! Had to eat very quickly to catch my plane!
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
I had a roughly 3 hour layover at Chicago O'Hare. I had talked to my brother about wanting to get a nice lunch between flights and he had a few suggestions. However, sushi just sounded perfect. You walk up to a bar/restaurant with very clean lines, a white marble bar with ample seating and a few tables to the left. I was waited on by Justine. She was very relaxed and made you feel right at home. She was attentive, but not overly so. I didn't feel rushed in any way and got to eat and enjoy my sushi without worrying that I had to catch my flight or hurry up so the next patron could have my seat. I would definitely come back here if I have a long layover again. Pricey, but worth it to get service that is really great!
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
I had the Geisha Roll here. This was good sushi. Not super gourmet, but absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was rolled well with the right amount of filling, the seafood was fresh, and the flavours were nice. The prices could have been out of any good sushi restaurant; they weren't cheap but weren't the exorbitant airport prices I was expecting (my roll was $21). I guess in the "real world" I might take off a star for $$ but I'll let it slide in the airport. The roll was the standard size for a special 8 piece roll. My waitress was also very nice, attentive but patient when I needed an extra minute to decide what to order. My food and seemingly others' food came out reasonably quickly - they weren't too busy but definitely not dead.
google avatar

JoAnn S.

Yelp
This place was really quick with our orders! They are call themselves "Wicker Park: Seafood and Sushi". However, they didn't have Sushi (and we really wanted Sushi). We were disappointed because we thought we thought were going to have Sushi, and it wasn't available. I am glad we finally got over it. We loved their Shrimp Cocktail for $23--there were 5 HUGH Shrimp which were yummy!!! My Honey got a DFT20 Stella (beer) for $12.50, and a bowl of Miso for $6. We agreed the food was pretty good, especially for Airplane Food, but we thought their prices were high.

Hanna G.

Yelp
I travel frequently for work through ORD and a few times have had a gate near this restaurant. Today I decided to sit down and try a roll and a drink. Upon realizing that a cocktail (vodka tonic) would be $25 I decided to just order a coke. That's insane for a drink even in an airport. I got my roll which was fine, and it came out quickly and I had no problems with it. Where things went south was when I went to leave I was cornered by a waitress who accused me of leaving without paying my bill. I had used the online QR code to order and pay and apparently the payment didn't go all the way through even though it said complete on my phone. She just kept saying " I know you aren't trying to leave without paying me, we will call security if you try to leave again" I explained and showed complete payment on my phone and she said it wasn't paid on her register and I tried to skip on the bill. Mind you I had my credit card in my hand the entire time and said multiple times, I apologize it didn't go through, I wasn't trying skip out without paying the bill and here's my card. I was absolutely disgusted with her behavior, there was no apology for aggressively coming at me not to mention rude comments and dirty looks. Never ever again will I come here and be accosted for a mistake I didn't make.

Yelp
Two older women servers/waitresses were very rude and condescending. The first server was annoyed we sat in a table for 4 people (that's because we always order a lot of food), told us we will need to move if they get busy. And that was a big IF. No problem we will move IF needed. It wasn't busy at all. Like 6 customers. We decided to leave since she was annoyed she had to help us two that were seated at 4 person table because she didn't offer us any water or help like she did the customers next to us that got there AFTER we did. On our way out, I see one of the original guys that told us to sit anywhere and told them what happened. They were VERY NICE and understanding and called the manager. They apologized for the awful server and said "I'm sorry, she's always like this". I'm happy to know it's not us and it's always her. Then another woman server tells the guys "why are you guys even getting involved? We are a team". I told her we weren't talking to her, but she insists on giving her two cents. As we were waiting for the manager, the first angry woman server, laughed at us and asked why are we still here. WTF?!?! She has real issues and she's the problem that no one can solve. I feel bad for her coworkers and manager that they have to deal with someone so rude and unhappy. I pray she finds happiness, so she can be nicer to people. Otherwise, she needs to find a new job, maybe not in customer service. The manager was very nice and understanding. But I hope they help these two unhappy women. Everyone has a bad day and I don't know what's going on personally, but if you're coworker/colleague says "she's always like this". Then there's something within that she needs help with. Or maybe not and that's just how she's lived her whole life???? Then I feel sorry for her. Please help her find joy!

Yelp
Normally, I have enough self-respect to not eat at a phony sushi restaurant, let alone at an airport one, but at the same time I am not one to argue. When my co-workers decided on "sushi" I went along knowing full well in advance that I will not like it and that they probably have a few items that will allow me to gulp down something without having their phony sushi. This is another location in an international airport owned by the Conglomerate HMS Host. They had the standard issue California rolls and spicy this, spicy that rolls (things no one in Japan has heard of) and, of course, because we are dumb the Chinese waitress and Chinese 'sushi chef' because the presence of an East Asian is supposed to signal to us that this place is really Japanese. Now, 90% of East Asians have as much knowledge of and expertise in sushi as a Conservative does in family values, law and order or sanity, but hey the fake Japanese cheesecake shops around me are all staffed by Chinese/Filipino/Thai employees and never a Caucasian or other non-Asians. Enough said. My friends ordered 'sushi' and seemed to like it (or they were hungry enough to finish it). My shrimp salad was generous enough as far as portions went and came with three jumbo shrimps. The greens were quite dry so I used all my tangy sauce for it. The order came quickly enough (likely because they care enough to know that layovers are likely rushing passengers) and the seats were comfortable. The waitress scolding a young man who plumped himself down next to us to enjoy his Big Mac was the evening's entertainment. Speaking of which, there is a McDonalds down the terminal if you like to attempt suicide or brave the winding queue.

Yelp
OK. I'll say this - I liked the did for sure. The Spanish roll was very tasty with a lemon dip that was great. I was shocked. The service was too busy to care. They were quick but stressed, so can't be 5 stars.

Jay H.

Yelp
I don't like traveling on weekdays for work but Chef Jung's sushi may be the only thing that I look forward to. Jung makes sure his food is of superb quality and customers are happy. My recent visit was disappointing with unpleasant service and subpar food quality. I miss Chef Jung and hope he comes back!!

Sophie L.

Yelp
We got food poisoning. Do not eat here. It took 1 piece of a spicy tuna roll for my brother in law to end up so sick that he almost could not make his flight home. Do not eat here if you don't want to be poisoned.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the salmon poke bowl at Wicker Park. For an airport sushi restaurant, this place is pretty good. The salmon was fresh and the flavors in the bowl were well-balanced. Our server was also really nice. I would recommend giving Wicker Park a try if you're looking for good sushi while at the airport with a long layover. One star off for price, but it's the airport, what should I expect.
google avatar

J p.

Yelp
The ambiance was great. Service was horrible. If you are not dressed in a suit and tie or fit a certain description you are yelled at. My server must have assumed I didn't have any money because I had purchased a hoodie as my flight has been cancelled. He spoke to me like I wasn't worthy of his service. How disappointing. He wore a burgundy shirt and was quite arrogant. He made me not even want to taste the food. Therefore I only ordered a drink. Please don't waste your time. It is over priced to be treated so poorly. I need for you to do better!!! I'll go to the jazz lounge down the terminal!
google avatar

Terry M.

Yelp
Airport sushi is a bit of an oxymoron, like "military intelligence" or "jumbo shrimp". I decided to take the risk and try Wicker Park between terminal 1 and 2 at O'Hare and I'm glad I did. The rolls and sashimi were surprisingly fresh. The service was quick, and the ambiance was very good for an airport. I'll drop a star for a couple mediocre menu selections. The edamame was lifeless and a very small portion, and the oysters were as plane as a 737 (an airport metaphor I couldn't resist, but probably should have). The overall experience would be above average anywhere, but compared to the other options at O'Hare it is well above average and worth the "sushi tax" and higher price than a Vienna Beef-ish dog a couple steps further down the concourse.

Yelp
We came in for a drink while waiting for our flight. The bartender was really nice and on top of orders. He wore his mask the whole time as well. They have a decent selection for an airport bar. I ordered the altitude cab and my husband ordered a Goose Island IPA. They have 6 different red wine choices, 3 white wines, 4 bottled beers, 2 canned beers, and 2 tap beers. They weren't serving food at 10:30 but I would have loved to try their sushi! It was socially distant because not many people were sitting at the bar but I'm not sure if that's enforced when it's busier or not. The area around the bar is in the middle of 6 different gates so it gets a bit congested. Overall, pretty good for an airport bar. Not the best I've been too but pretty decent.

Yelp
Absolute rip off. Got sushi and wings for my daughter. The portions were so small it didn't even fill up my 8 year old for $35. Terrible. Trash, don't come here

Yelp
Came for a half dozen of oysters, knowing it was a sushi place but even then it was just ok. I thought there was a twist to the oysters but they just typical with lemon and cocktail sauce

Yelp
3 1/2 - stuck in Chicago airport with time to kill and craving something healthier than deep dish pizza or hot dogs, so this hit the spot. Ordered a glass of wine and nigiri sushi sampler. It took a while, but I had time. The sushi was really good, but omg tiny for $16. I ordered a salmon roll ($9) to fill me up and that was a little faster. They brought a spicy salmon roll. I ate it and it was fine, but not my favorite (which is why I didn't order it, lol). Place is in a super crowded area of the airport, so not too relaxing. However, the decor is bright and modern. Better than choices at my local airport and if I'm traveling on expense and don't mind the higher prices, the food is good.
