We searched Google for a good crab restaurant as we were nearing Chesapeake VA in our way back north. We decided on Wickers due to menu options we could see online and good recommendations on Google. Recommendations were right! The food was Very good and amazing service, even though it was pouring rain When we got there the hostess was trying her best to get everyone seated quickly since the outdoor seating got temporarily closed due to the storms. Food was amazing and waitress was great. Will definitely return when we're in the area again

Google
The ambiance was good, there were a lot of people inside enjoying their seafood fix. Staff was friendly, we were seated right away, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered oyster Rockefeller - it wasn’t typical oyster Rockefeller where it’s baked or broiled on the shell. It was more like fried or baked oysters topped with cheese and stuff. Tastes good, but nothing extraordinary.

Google
Stopped here on our way to the outer banks, staff was so friendly and accommodating to our family. Our first time in the area and they showed us how to crack and open the crabs. Food was very good and had good options for our land lovers. Would definitely recommend stopping here when in the area!

Google
That was the best seafood I have ever had in my life. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here tonight and they made us feel so special! We will absolutely be back!! The service was incredible, never had an empty dish on our table and our drinks always stayed full.

Google
Had a wonderful family dinner tonight. Stand outs were hush puppies, tuna bites, crab cakes and crab stuffed shrimp. . Specially lavender lemonade was a big hit, with and without vodka. For dessert the key lime and the best carrot cake! Shout out to Sara for keeping us happy! Owner also came over and even bought us a dessert, so nice! Skip the oysters on the half shell and steamed clams. Overall great dinner!

Google
This was a great experience good food and service. There were some kids that were a bit distracting. But that was more the parents fault than the restaurants. Would definitely go back.

Google
It was my first time having blue crab! The waitress was extremely nice and taught me how to crack them open. The food was delicious; and definitely worth a detour. Fresh, and flavorful. The price was fairly reasonable. If you can, try the baked oysters as an appetizer. Whenever I am back in town i’ll be sure to stop here!

Google
Our retired ladies luncheon was a great experience. We all Loved our food and plan to return for our next luncheon meeting! The best part of our visit was Miss Brittany! She’s a great Waitress with a lot of personality and warmth. Not to mention, she’s a hard worker!

Yelp
Great hospitality! Our server Caroline was the best. Very informative and friendly. We ordered a dozen steamed blue crabs (half male and half female) and the She Crab soup & some appetizers. Key lime pie for dessert. Everything was delicious and above our expectations! Highly recommended when you're in town!

Yelp
The food was great! I never had crab stuffed shrimp before and was very pleased with it. The service was excellent. She was very attentive and even took back a drink that someone at our table didn't like. My only complaint was that it was extremely hot in the restaurant which isn't entirely on them, but you know it's a problem when the waiters are sweating from head to toe. Over, I was pleased! I'd definitely eat here again.

Yelp
My favorite seafood spot The best crab dip In the 757 and the service is always immaculate you get the freshest seafood and the drinks are delicious and strong

Yelp
This is my second visit in two weeks. I forgot to review my first visit but this one did not fall short at all. The atmosphere downstairs was a little more nosier than upstairs but probably because of the bar area. I love the option of the outdoor seating. The hostess immediately worked out seating for our party of five. She was very pleasant as so was our waitress. Service time wasn't super fast but good came out in a decent time. We ordered different meals and shared. Oyster rockafella , lump crab meat top with shrimp accompanied with string beans, snow crab pot, Dungeness crab, sausage, seafood mac and cheese, fried shrimp and hush puppies. Whew!!! Everything was great... no complaints from our first time guests either.

Yelp
We ordered the fish and chips, fried oysters, fried shrimp, and fried calamari to go using their online ordering system. Everything tasted rather bland, except for the fried calamari. The sauce that came with the calamari was delicious! I would definitely recommend ordering online. We had to change one of our orders, but you can't make changes over the phone -- you have to reorder at the to-go window. The wait there is rather long for such a simple order.

Yelp
We stopped by on a weekend and had a reservation and so had an easy seat! With a pretty straightforward menu and tons of options, the four of us who are eating dinner are you able to get exactly what we wanted. The best part of the menu is that there are more than just fried options, which I find is often in the case near this area. I really like eating steamed or blackened fish options and this place had them both! with a super great vibe, decent drinks, and delicious food, I will absolutely be back. Sure parking can be tricky, but there's extra down the block if you need it! If you're looking for a low-key fish spot with fresh options, to include softshell crab there in season, this is it!

Yelp
I am so disappointed in my to go order. We drove from Chesapeake to visit this place. I don't know if the food was bad because they were closing soon or what. Long story short I spent $109.26 on tasteless, thick, and hard food. I wanted to try the seafood macaroni. It was dry and it appeared that they made a crab cake and stuck it in the middle of the macaroni and chopped up maybe one to two shrimp. Cheese was not gooey and the overall dish was bland and dry. I also ordered the Rockefeller Oysters . Presentation was in a to go box were the toppings just glided right off the oysters. It was definitely not a Rockerfeller it was more cheese and bacon. I had to ask for lemons, like come on. Now to my husband's order. He had the Dirty Rice and added sausage. His food was in another brown takeout box that was not suitable for the meal. He said the rice was flavorful but the sausage was hard and over cooked. It wasn't what he expected either. He ordered 3 baked devil crabs that were not baked. My daughter said it looked like cat food. He also ordered She Crab soup. Looking at the take out menu it has a cup/bowl for size options. I don't know how she upsold him to a quart of soup. That cost $30. We get the soup home it's hot but thick like glue . I am just amazed because we haven't eaten here in years. I was very disappointed and it was not worth the drive. I tried calling but of course they were closed by the time we made it home. There was absolutely no love put into our food and the packaging for the to go items are not suitable for every dish.

Yelp
Great service and great food. Had two pounds of crawfish with sausage and corn. Followed up with a slice of key lime pie.

Yelp
Best Fish and Chips I've Ever Had! Wicker's Crab Pot Does. Not. Miss. Crispy, golden perfection on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. They were absolutely massive. Like... borderline hilarious how big this piece was. I had to take a picture. Their she crab soup is also a must have. I was surprised at how much crab meat was in there! They definitely don't skimp. If you're a seafood lover or just someone with taste buds, Wicker's is a must. I'm already plotting my return. 10/10.
google avatar

Yelp
Very casual ambience at the Crab Pot with an outside pick up window, Tiki Bar, outdoor dining patio, small indoor dining room and another enclosed porch type dining room downstairs. Lots of good options on the menu. We went for lunch on a weekday. There was only one server working the upstairs dining room. She was as busy as she could be but she never lost her smile and worked as quickly as she could. If the parking lot looks full, which it often does, go down the street half a block and park in the church lot which is reserved for WIcker's customers outside of church hours.

Bill A.

Yelp
Every thing that a crab shack should be! The vibes are pure old school. Good food and great service. Happy employees. Don't miss seeing Britney in the downstairs bar. Parking is limited so try the off hours. Either way you will not be disappointed.

Cathy D.

Yelp
Had two dozen BEAUTIFUL and FULL jumbo blue crabs today. Enjoyed picking for two hours. We can always depend on Wickers to have the best crabs around. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Madison S.

Yelp
I visited Wickers for the first time Sunday afternoon and got a dozen large crabs with heavy seasoning. Maybe 2 out of the dozen were large, the rest were medium and all the seasoning was at the bottom of the bag. However, none of that bothered me because the crabs were buttery, fresh, and delicious. I'm from Maryland and these were probably the best crabs I've had all summer. I'll be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Wicker's Crab Pot is a fantastic place to enjoy a great meal for lunch or dinner. They specialize in seafood and they have a great variety of different items on their menu. The crab cake are one of my favorites. They don't have a lot of filler, just enough to hold everything together. Check out Wicker's Crab Pot as soon as you can, you'll be happy that you did and you can rest assured that you are supporting our local restaurant community.

Yelp
First time buying crabs from here as they came highly recommended. They were not good. I'm gonna be serious. They were packaged well but many of the crabs were OLD and some had barnacles on them. I've NEVER been sold crabs that were not handled with care. One was completed spoiled. I am not saying that all of their food is bad, but this batch should not have been sold and especially not for $160 bucks this was more like a 60 buck mystery bag to me. Do better.

Yelp
As a first timer at this establishment, I was very pleased with what I ordered. I had a cup of she crab soup, which was creamy and seasoned well. I also ordered a one crab cake entree which came with 2 sides. I chose the green beans and French fries. The green beans had to be the best I've ever tasted. I mean it was just seasoned with butter and garlic but it was done well! The French fries were spot on, with a crisp exterior, but soft on the inside. My crab cake was good. I had a peppering of crab shell in the she crab soup & crab cake, but that's expected with those types of entrées. Our server kept our drinks filled, but the amount of time for the food to arrive took quite some time considering the restaurant was fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon.

Rodney H.

Yelp
The only good thing was the fried deviled crab! It is like 3 restaurants in 1, as the waitress explained. Went for the fried crab but found out you can only get them to go. you can't go get them at the to-go restaurant and being them in to eat with your family because it is not allowed. You can't eat them at the outside bar because it is not allowed. The streamed crabs were dry and tasteless, the corn was . They charge gratuities for 6 and over. Which I don't mind but if I pay gratuity and owed .59 back to me I want my .59 back. Don't assume that I'm adding to that amount to the tip. If you charge for using a card and I pay with cash I want my money back. You didn't give me anything for free

Michele R.

Yelp
Ordered she-crab soup. I was so disappointed! It tasted like mayonnaise and butter with very little crab. Also ordered a dozen #2 male blue crabs. The shells were coated in seasoning but the inside crab meat was bland. FIRST TIME AND LAST TIME THERE.
google avatar

Marianna F.

Yelp
We went here tonight because I longed for blue crabs. It came with corn on the cob and red potato wedges. The portions were generous. It said 1/2 dozen but I think there were 8. Some were a little small. Maybe that's why. It was $50. For the portions I thought it was quite a deal. My daughter got a "Build your Own". She chose 1/2 lb. Snow Crab, Andouille Sausage, corn and potatoes. I do not think she got 1/2 lb. of the snow crab. She should have said something. Her dish was over $30. This is my reason for three stars because I think she got shorted on the snow crab. We also had a dozen raw oysters. They were good. $18. Fairly good price for these days. The atmosphere is very friendly and we had a good time.

Yelp
Cute little family owned business. We had crab soup, hush puppies, blue crab tacos, and boiled shrimp. Everything was delicious, but the fresh shrimp were the best! The staff was very attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Ema S.

Yelp
Blackened tuna was very good and very fresh, and they had AMAZING hush puppies and Michelle's crab dip. The dip is amazing and literally addictive. The waiter was friendly and quick, and very accommodating. It had cute nautical decor and there was lots of seating.

Yelp
SheCrab Soup is fresh, tasty and full of crab, with just a hint of sherry...a welcome accompaniment is there homemade hush puppies it becomes a meal

Yelp
Looking for quality local seafood? This is a must-try in the 757! Went on a rainy day, not too busy, but not completely dead. If you got lost walking around looking for the front door, you're not alone lol. Staff is great - probably the highlight of the entire experience. They were very attentive and hospitable - something I definitely look for/am vigilant about in any establishment. Thanks Sara! We started with she crab soup. I would've taken a picture but I devoured it. It was my favorite thing on the menu so far. Very crabby, not watery. Not too thick and very mild and tasteful. The mid-Atlantic is known for this dish and they give it its just-due at wickers. We got the seafood platter and the stuffed shrimp with crab. Seafood platter: Oyster, scallop, shrimp, flounder, and a small crab can in a shell. you can only get it all fried or all broiled, no mix and match. Stuffed shrimp: good and tasty, pretty pricey for such a small amount of crab and shrimp was cooked perfectly, but just in a normal way. Dirty rice was really good but the broccoli was water as it was just steamed with no seasoning or edible presentation. All in all, everything was good and I'm looking forward to returning for another experience.

Yelp
This past Monday enjoyed a quick in and out lunch with my daughter. They had just opened and we were only eat in guest there. Got our apps and lunch in a jiffy. Good food is always good for the soul.

Yelp
Wickers is a local favorite. I personally like going during the warmer times of year as they have outdoor seating and often have live music. The crab boil is delicious and the atmosphere is suited as such. Wait staff has been hit or miss but not horrible. Cocktails are ok but nothing imaginative. If you are looking for a fun night out during a hot summer night go here and have a couple beers.
google avatar

Suzette D.

Yelp
I like the fried crabs! When I go to Wicker's I feel a sense of nostalgia my father would always have blue crabs for us, steamed, fried and deviled. I once had a bad fried crab with barnacles on top of its shell. But overall this is my go to place for crabs. I have tried a few different places but they don't come close to Wicker's batter for frying crabs. The outside service is okay, I feel that the person who takes the order should be a little more patience, helpful understanding when taking the orders (redneck vibes).
google avatar

Tequila C.

Yelp
The food is always good at Wickers. We tried the Deviled Crabs this time (not pictured) and it was really good. The Mac and cheese, green beans and dirty rice were all seasoned so well. I definitely like the fried seafood platter better, but we are trying to eat healthy so the broiled platter was a good substitute. Wicker's will always be a family favorite.

Emoni W.

Yelp
don't make no sense. no seasoning. fried crabs was burned to a crisp. maybe we caught them on a off day but that don't make no sense. not even any old bay on the crabs...
google avatar

Lynn F.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. Had the crab cakes...delicious! Hubby had steamed blue crab and fried oyster po'boy. Great food all around. Finished with house made key lime pie, well worth the extra calories. Caroline, our waitress was the best. A+++ experience.

EA W.

Yelp
Good ambience, great menu, fair service. Ordered bowl of crab soup, warm when served but cold before it could before it could be eaten. Crab stuffed shrimp (w/ hollandaise) looked beautiful, but very salty and shrimp had tails on (inconvenient to take tails off when covered in hollandaise). Sides were steamed broccoli (cold when served) and cole slaw (more like cabbage salad, not diced so impossible to get a small fork full). Folks I was with ordered fish bites (small bite of flounder very heavily breaded, no one ate more than one bite). One person ordered hush puppies that did come out with the rest of the food, so cancelled the order. Restaurant was not packed, but still just fair service.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
The server was awesome she was running our whole area herself and was on point. The food was fantastic as well! The only thing is you're going to spend some money on the food so bring a healthy wallet. The restaurant itself was decent looking. Ambiance is nice. Glad they focused on what's important which is the food!

Jamela M.

Yelp
SELLING FOOD GONE BAD. Nobody was there, and for good reason. The food was old and way overpriced. $34 for 4 shrimp, 4 scallops, 4 oysters, a deviled crab, and one flounder filet. The corn was at least 3 days old. It was brownish grey and tasted extremely stale. The deviled crab imperial was SOUR/inedible, and the cole slaw tasted like it was from a grocery store container. Even the she crab soup was super thick and had a strong sherry after taste. You're better off at Red Lobster. We had to ask for plates for the hush puppies, napkins, tarter and cocktail sauce. With two orders of the captains feast you'd think they would bring that out. The people were nice, but the servers were chatting and distracted. It's just unacceptable for a seafood spot to bring out two day old seafood, no matter the price they are charging. Avoid this place. It's gone way downhill.
google avatar

Daijlinn P.

Yelp
Wish I got my servers name, I just got a togo order but she was amazing and said the tip I left her turned her "bad" day around :,) Deviled crabs - 10/10 Crab Cake Sandwich (fried) - 10/10 Haven't had anything bad here, especially if you're a seafood lover like me. If you ever in the area, you NEED to come here! ALSO they have the best priced Raw Oyster bushels in the area!!
google avatar

Patrick P.

Yelp
I recently took my two sons (12, 8) to Wickers to try crabs for the first time. You can tell immediately that the seafood in Wickers is fresh as they sell you crabs to go if you wish-this is not a chain restaurant like several others in the area. We ordered half a bushel of crabs and a few soft shell crab sandwiches. Everything we ordered was listed at market price as expected. Our service was a little slower but I chalked that up to it being a Friday night. The venue is in an older house with bar and outdoor seating. I would recommend wickers to a more mature crowd, my boys loved the experience and I certainly plan on returning.

Yelp
Great food with good prices. Only negative would be the parkingWe ended up parking up the street at the church lot

Yelp
Ok after a hard day me and my wife needed some good food and Wickers hasn't let us down yet! We were seated immediately at the table where we first tried Wickers We started off with the oysters Rockefeller and She Crab soup and the surprise of the afternoon was the oysters they tasted amazing and the She Crab soup has consistently delicious.I departed from my normal bowl and order a Shrimp and Andouille Sausage with corn steam pot and my with ordered her usual Caesar salad with grilled Shrimp and a broiled crab cake both cooked to perfection and portions enough for lunch the next day. As conversations went on around us in the room and the owner and hostess ensuring everyone was served and happy with there decisions, the room was comfortable and the service was attentive and helpful with the light Low the ambiance was definitely intimate and quiet as me and my wife enjoyed our food and shared great conversation Wickers knocked it out the park! Again

Yelp
Good food as great service this is my go to for good seafood I really love there fried crabs

Yelp
We are visiting from the northwest and very likely move here (for work) by end of summer 2023. I wanted a great crab Cajun boil for our last day dinner. After all, seafood should be excellent here. Went to a couple of seafood restaurants (Asian and American) for the past two days and must admit seafood is EXCELLENT! FRESH! He picked this place claiming one of the restaurants that serves the best crab cakes. Before I put the review on CC and my steam boiled shrimp and crab, let's review the restaurant itself. 1. Didn't really order cocktails or specific drinks, just got an ice water with a slice of lemon. Hum. Yuck! The water has this distinctive smell (bad way). So I asked for bottled drinks; preferably bottled sparkling water or any bottled drinks. None. Hence, I got a coke. Something with their soda machine that... creates this yucky smell. this will be tough since I ordered spicy Cajun. If I order a cocktails, how many I need to tame the fire in my mouth. Will I get drunk and both my mouth and butt on fire? Darn! I should have brought my bottled water from the hotel. 2. Well, I am going to have a steamed boil. I need to wash my hands. Oh shit! Went to the bathroom, didn't even lock the door, I couldn't. The nasty smell, combination of fishy, damp, musty, aarrgghh so traumatizing! Gosh! I f-ing hate my husband by now. 3. Food. Oh gosh! I ended up eating only 1 shrimp and tell them to pack it up. I'll just give it to the bell boy at the hotel. I can't even begin how to write the taste of this food. Of course my dumb husband enjoys his salad because he didn't want to admit that the taste is below mediocre. It's NOT a boil like the Crab Boil restaurant. I ordered the garlic lemon pepper, didn't even taste any garlic or pepper. Cajun seasoning is NOT cajun sauce. I am definitely pissed! Well, the shrimp is pretty fresh and sweet. If you like a standard boiled shrimp, you may like this rest. Or, just go to a seafood market and buy shrimp and boil it yourself at home. Cheaper! If you want to come here, be prepared to smell a bad ventilation restaurant. Ugh.
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Amazing food, quick service from friendly staff. The waitress offered hush puppies as a small appetizer (free). I had the shrimp dinner- lightly breaded fried shrimp with a side salad, and one side. I chose the Mac and cheese as a side. Everything on the table was great with the exception of the Mac and cheese. It just tastes like cooked noodles with a glop of cheese on top. No salt and pepper added. Other than that, can't stop thinking about the salad nor the shrimp. Will def be back. I'll just order another side, no biggie

Charles P.

Yelp
First time there. The seafood was terrific. The server, Brittney, was exceptional. The ambiance was what you like in a seafood restaurant. One of the owners met us going out the door and asked about our experience which was a classy touch. And, yes we intend to put Wickers in our rotation of favorite restaurants. We'll done, Wi kers.
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
First time trying this place and it was very good. The ambiance is not the best, it isn't fancy or anything, so if that is what you are expecting, you won't be getting that, it's more if a local small place, a bit of a bar setting. The she crab soup was one of the best I've ever had. It was FULL of crab meat and the flavor was very good. The raw oysters were a great deal so we got a dozen. They were very good but a little dirty, probably could have been cleaned a bit better. For meals we got the crab stuffed shrimp and the scallops. The shrimp were very good. Came with a lot so I could not finish it after the appetizers. My SO said the scallops were also good. Both came with 2 sides, or 1 side and a salad. I opted for the broccoli with hollandaise (sauce is extra) and sweet potato fries. The portions were huge. For dessert we got the bread pudding to go, because again we were stuffed. It was delicious! I would eat here again for sure.

Aaron O.

Yelp
Trying to place a large takeout order and for some reason, I needed to provide a detailed list of why I needed to speak to the manager over the phone If the Manager is difficult to reach. Do not wish to give my business to a place like this.

Michele L.

Yelp
I went to Wickers to celebrate my 49th anniversary. I had the special Valenine's seafood. It consisted of shrimp, oysters, mussels ,clams, corn and red potatoes. I was so disappointed. Absolutely no seasoning. I ate 2 shrimp,2 potatoes and 4 mussels. I was suppose to have garlic butter seasoning but had none. The server tried to help with more seasoning but that was a fail. She gave me a free key lime pie. That was good.We paid for the food and i brought it home, hoping to fix it up. I got home and regurgitated..Not a happy ending. I will never go back and i won't recommend this place. The serving staff were wonderful.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
OMG!! This place is absolutely amazing! The best fresh oysters you will find anywhere in Norfolk! Brittany will take super extra good care of you at the bar! And the homemade Keylime pie will melt in your mouth and make you want to cry! Do not miss the spot when you're in town!

Yelp
My father in law was visiting, and I love that we can include him during our foodie adventures. We were driving in Chesapeake with no restaurant in mind. The hubs just searched places in the vicinity to eat and Wickers Crab Pot popped up. We missed our turn going into the parking lot twice. It was a bit tricky so keep an eye out as GPS can be slow on accuracy. They have a long narrow ramp entering into the restaurant from outside. At that time the hubs was on crutches, so it took some time since there was no closer entrance. Once inside a waitress seated us with a half booth and table. The menu looked extensive even it being just being the front and back. My father in law was looking for fried whole belly clams, unfortunately they didn't have them. We started with a special of crab stuffed mushrooms. They were the smallest mushrooms I've ever seen, unless you zoom in with a camera. The stuffing of the crab was very good. The hubs ordered clam chowder, and it was clam soup base. It was not the creamy thick chowder one would expect, but a thin runny texture he did not want to finish. I usually eat what he doesn't want, and I had to turn away from this. The hubs ordered Haileys seafood Mac and cheese. Now this one is a winner! The macaroni was cooked aldente. It was very cheesy and stuffed with shrimp. I was bouncing back from my order of fish and chips to his entree lol. Since I couldn't decide between the fish and chips and shrimp po boy, a side order of breaded shrimp was added to the order. Shrimp was ok. The fish was battered and fried nicely. Fries were the frozen kind so nothing special. My father in law ordered Big Rays flounder dinner which came with three huge pieces of flounder fried. He chose to have it with a side of fries and broccoli. No complaints and it was a large dinner portion. Dessert was key lime pie. This was light, tart, refreshing, and just wonderful. The crust was crunchy and buttery. No dye was used to make it green. So we were able to appreciate the authenticity of a key lime pie. This is very much recommended, and was devoured in a matter of minutes. Overall a good dining experience especially during Covid. Our waitress was also very nice and helpful. We would be back for their key lime pie!

The food was a okay but not great. We would return but wouldn't go out of our way to get here. The service, however is what brings this review to four stars. The service was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. She helped us work through the daily specials and was patient with our questions.

Yelp
Tonight was first time in years that we went to Wicker's. Everything was just a good as we remembered. I had the Soft Shell Crab with coleslaw and green beans. I haven't had Soft Shell crabs in years and they were fried perfectly, light, crispy and not greasy at all. My husband had the Blackened Flounder with She Crab soup on top. The flounder was a large filet and the She Crab soup was a nice touch. There is a reason they have been in business for as long as they have, they food and service is top notch!

Yelp
I really enjoy Wicker's. I've been on several occasions and each time, I walked away having a really good meal. In the past, I've had their fried oysters, salmon, and flounder and all were really good. Today, I had the fried shrimp and hush puppies and they did not disappoint. The reason I'm leaving a review this time is because the bartender was really nice, attentive and gave everyone an equal amount of attention. She did a really nice job. I also wanted to leave a review because it hit me today, that Wickers has a wide array of affordable options. Sure, you can go for the more expensive dinner plates but they also have some really good food options at a reasonable price. A nice combination. I really recommend Wickers if your looking for some good seafood.
