If you're looking for seafood that feels like it came straight off the dock, Wicker's Crab Pot delivers the full tide-to-table experience. From watching the staff pull live crabs from baskets out back to digging into platters piled high with shrimp, oysters, and crab, this spot celebrates everything about Chesapeake seafood culture. As well as a very traditional decor and sitting area.
We started with the Oysters Rockefeller -- rich, cheesy, and baked just right without drowning out the briny oyster flavor. The hushpuppies were golden and crisp, served with a honey-butter-style dip that disappeared fast. For mains, the Seafood Platter (fried fish, shrimp, oysters) was hearty, while the Lump Crab Tacos brought a punch of flavor with fresh crab and a creamy drizzle. The highlight, though, was the OG Steam Pot: corn, red potatoes, snow crab, shrimp, and clams, all seasoned with a Cajun kick that had us licking our fingers and wishing for extra bread to soak up the juices.
Service was friendly and unhurried, which works perfectly in a place where you're supposed to roll up your sleeves and enjoy the spread. Prices are on the higher end (our table ran about $170 with tax and surcharge), but the portions and freshness make it feel worth it -- especially when you know the seafood didn't travel far to hit your plate.
Final verdict: Wicker's isn't just a meal, it's a coastal Virginia experience. Come hungry, bring friends, and don't be shy about making a mess -- that's half the fun.
