"Tucked inside a historic inn in the tiny town of Ellison Bay, Wickman House has established itself as must-stop spot for serious diners in the area. The team smartly weds strong technique to local agriculture with menu options like a tarte tatin of foraged local mushrooms and ricotta gnocci with braised rabbit (smoked carrots, grilled chard, rabbit bacon). The food is alluring, but don’t overlook the lively cocktail list." - Naomi Waxman

This restaurant is amazing! My fiancé and I love the farm to table concept. If you want Door County flavor’s amplified, this restaurant is for you! Travis and Mike took care of us at the bar, and make some awesome cocktails. We tried a few smaller plates, and our personal favorites were the Deviled Eggs and the Whitefish Dip. Both perfectly balanced classics. After we had dinner we were welcomed to wonder around the vegetable gardens. We will definitely return our next trip to Door County.

Google
It's an absolutely phenomenal experience to be able to dine here. The service was impeccable. The rotating menu leaves you longing to return for more. The extensively crafted cocktail menu tested our decision-making abilities as each drink sounded better than the next. We are excited to dine here again!

Google
The food tasted amazing. We got many dishes to share since we wanted to try a few from the bites and small plates. We also ordered two of the house cocktails and they paired very well with the food profile of the menu. Overall, we think this restaurant has one of the best flavor profiles and taste in Door County.

Google
One of the best meals I have ever had. Farm fresh food, creative menu and wonderful service. This is an Outstanding Restaurant. Love the ambiance, high quality food, very creative, and outstanding service. We made a vacation around our reservations for the Wickman House

Google
Loved it! Super fresh and every dish was done well! Had the shishito peppers, a salad, devilled eggs, and steak. All of their cocktails can be made in to mock tails which is such a fun option for us non drinkers ! Had 3 little with us and our server was so kind . Definitely a must stop in Door County for any foodie !

Google
I want to start out by saying, the idea and the creativity of restaurant garden and local sourced seasonal food is spectacular. The concept, even walking in knowing this would be a driving reason for the high price of dinner, didn't stray us away from eating. The size of the meals is small, and that's ok, but they are also not fulfilling, not a lot of things to soak up the delicious cocktails they have. We decided to get a few apps and small plates to share so we could really do a flavor tour. The deviled eggs were good, bacon on them perfect, whipped perfectly. And then things got really bitter. I don't know if it was just what we picked or what but there was so much vinegary and pickled flavors that it was almost like it was trying to hid something else.. (or preserve the garden food when the growing season is done and still use it), and then using kale and other bitter leaf things on top of it, it was too much bitter. And like I said it could just have been that we picked things that happen to all have that, and therefore it was what it was. I was kinda bummed about it because like I said, this place marvels in all other comparison and the concept is magnificent. Our goal is to try again when a new seasonal menu come out and be more conscious in maybe pairing different things. Plating and timing of food was spectacular and they were really busy. Knowing we were going to have to chance it and walk in, because they were not taking new reservations til a month out; their flexibility with dine at the bar, and bar table area is also great. The staff, I cannot say enough good things. They helped each other out and ran things for each other. The bartenders, with all of the craft cocktails did well keeping up with the 10 tickets printing a a time and a full bar. The atmosphere is neat. The indoor and outdoor seating, the walkable garden, the cleanliness etc. I encourage you to walk the grounds.

Google
Service was top notch and speedy. Food and presentation was phenomenal. They only had an outdoor reservation, but the setting was beautiful and relaxing. Looking forward to coming back next year while in Door County!

Google
Food was absolutley amazing, one of the best dinning experiences I've had in a while. Friendly, welcoming, and knowledgebale service/staff as well. Make a reservation well in advance. Pork Belly Bao, Whitefish Ettoufee, and Roasted Cartots were the highlights of the evening. The entire menu was innovative from Korean to New Orleans ensipired creations which all encorporated locally sourced ingredients.

Yelp
Please get here before it closes at the end of this year, You will not be disappointed! First off the atmosphere and staff are amazing but the food and drinks are even better. The quality and love that goes into this food is breathtaking until the last bite. And don't get me started with the drinks, so creative and crafted to perfection. Everyone is dedicated to make your experience wonderful.

Yelp
A second visit to the Wickman House! Overall the food was delicious! The steak was "slightly" over cooked (we asked for medium rare) but the flavors were on point. We were full when approached with dessert but I couldn't pass up trying the Lime Tomatillo sorbet. It was unique and refreshing! Everyone was kind and attentive, overall great visit. Quick tip! We booked our reservations in March so this place isn't available for a late minute dinner however I hear that you can walk in and dine at their smaller bar area.

Christopher H.

Yelp
Finally was able to sneak into Wickman House. 5 stars for the service and 4 stars for the food/drinks. We ended up trying a handful of cocktails between our group and we enjoyed them all. The zombie and sazerac were our favorites. For food, we got the happy hour $2 oysters (hurry to order because they run out quick), salads that we shared, and I got the chef's cut ribeye. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, but the menu is unique. I would be interested in trying the new rotations

Yelp
Beautiful grounds, nice old farmhouse converted into a restaurant/bar. Super popular. Be prepared to line up outside if all you want is a cocktail at the bar. Reservations definitely required for food. Great service. Cocktails run $15-16 a pop. They're worth it because they are unique and delicious. There are a few cans and bottles of beer ranging $4-$8 a piece. I'm giving it three stars because the appetizers outshone the entrees by a country mile. The flavors in the salad were stellar, I can't even describe how great the flavor was. The stracciatella cheese appetizer was divine. The oysters were phenomenal. The complimentary bread was so good, I'm still thinking about it. The entrees weren't bad but they didn't live up to the apps. The steak was tough, despite being a rare rib eye and it was under seasoned. The Andouille Etouffee was good, but not really an entouffee, although the collard greens were pretty damn good. The potato gnocci were decent and had a little heat, but not a ton of flavor. The mushroom dishes were good. Entrees are going to run you $26-48. Apps were all around the $15 price point.

Yelp
The finest restaurant in DC will soon close for good, and this breaks my heart. I had posted earlier that they are already closed, but owner Mike Holmes just contacted me to inform me that they will be open until the New Year. My humble apologies for this error and thus this corrected review. I would post an actual review but I have not been able to get in this year. The online reservation book was filled by April when I visited it since The Wickman House has been receiving national attention and dining awards. My reservation problem perhaps could have been rectified had I stopped by the place and personally talked to Josh. Unfortunately I have had to deal with a boatload of health issues all summer long, so my preoccupations have been directed elsewhere. If you can get in, go for it for an outstanding culinary experience. Fabulous specialty drink selection as well.

Stephany S.

Yelp
Wickman house has the best crafted cocktails, the caipirinha is a must try! Everything we had at the table was delicious, felt so fresh and was packed with flavor. Our server was great and knowledgeable about the menu. The cozy seats and dim lighting in the enclosed patio made for a perfect evening. A must while in Door County!

Concerned C.

Yelp
Hands down the most delicious and inviting restaurant in Door County. The staff are quick to serve with a smile. The menu is full of farm fresh creations for the table to share. Very nice atmosphere, with the house being decided into rooms and porch, making for some quaint little dining! 10/10 Will be back!

Joan N.

Yelp
Deviled eggs looks great with the flower but the taste was nothing special. Dry square of bacon on top. The meatless tacos was awful. Meatless stuff was so salty I could not eat. One bite would of sky rocketed my BP. Sorry but not impressed. Love the atmosphere other then on a hot night plastic on the screens. Deviled Egg Du Jour

Andrea G.

Yelp
Always an amazing experience here. Staff are attentive and charming, food is to die for, fireplace sitting is the best, drinks are 5 stars.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
We made a reservation in advance as recommended by our Airbnb host. Very cute restaurant, seasonal food and great service. There's not much else in this area of Ellison Bay, we got here early hoping to walk around and there wasn't much to see like the other nearby towns. We stayed in Sister Bay so it was a quick drive. The food was very good. My favorite was the foraged mushroom tarte tartine. Foraged morels and homemade puff pastry?? Yes please. Cocktails are well crafted, you get homemade bread service (delicious!), and you know a place is on the fancier end when they fold your napkin when you get up to go to the restroom. All in all a great experience, definitely recommended if you're in Door County.

E L.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant with the best ambiance, service, and drinks. The menu seems to chance pretty frequently but the chicken dish is always great. Our family visits Door County every summer and this is a restaurant we like to come to each year. A must go spot!

Joyce L.

Yelp
This review is belated since the meal we had from Wickman house was thanksgiving of last year. I had drafted the review with all the dishes we had, and I still remember how the experience was like a whole year later. The drive to Wickman house from our B&B in Fish creek was kind of scary, since it was snowing pretty hard that evening. However, once we entered the parking lot, the welcoming glow of the Christmas lights enveloped us, and we were no longer afraid! When we entered the restaurant, I was able to appreciate the ambiance of the restaurant--it was dim, romantic, and cozy. The setting was perfect for a date with your partner or your friends, whispering and chatting away to catch up with each other. Funny thing was that I had initially booked our reservations for the wrong month! But, since we were just a table off two, the waiter was easily able to squeeze us in. The food and non-alcoholic drinks we ordered were nothing short of exceptional. To start, we got the harvest salad and the deviled egg du jour, both of which were perfect appetizers. I got the pork tenderloin and my partner got the steak, both of which were cooked to perfection with the flavors of the grill being perfectly encompassed with every bite. To end the meal, we got carrot cake, which is by far our favorite type of cake, and Wickman house did not disappoint! We highly suggest everyone check out Wickman house whenever they find themselves in Door County. It is by far the BEST restaurant in the entire county. We thank our co-B&B guests for suggesting the restaurant to us. If we ever find ourselves back in Door, we'll be sure to stop by Wickman house again.

Yelp
We had dinner here last night and I have no clue how this place is rated 4.5 and not 5. Some people are nuts because this is the best restaurant in all of door county. If you want a cheap meal, go somewhere else; if you want the freshest ingredients, amazing cocktails, fantastic service, and creative dishes all in a beautiful atmosphere, then come here And I already regret writing this review because getting reservations here is tough enough as it is. But great places deserve great reviews!

Joe H.

Yelp
This place has some really good food. We had some oysters, the meatballs appetizers and the gnocchi dinner. It was really good and the drinks they have really go well with the food. Top notch place.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start - If there were 6 stars, i would give them here! From start to finish our experience was magical - their COVID precautions were impeccable, but also, every single staff member could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The ambiance / atmosphere makes you feel so comfortable and is so inviting you'll have a hard time leaving. The cocktail list and wine list is outstanding - we enjoyed the El Perro - staff favorite and i could have had 12! The Albariño was amazing as well. We shared the oysters to start (which were on special until 6pm on a Saturday!) - they were incredible 4 different varieties hand picked by the owner. We then shared the reconstited beets - I don't even know what to say. The server described the process that went into preparing these - it sounded like it took 2 entire days and you could last the passion that went into the process- they were by far the best beets we had ever had. They were made with locally foraged mushrooms, butter, red wine, pomegranate juice and fresh herbs. We also shared the Brussel sprouts - they were great ... These days so many places do sprouts that it's hard to be wowed anymore. Their preparation included manchego cheese, candied cranberries and pickled onions - they reminded us of thanksgiving dinner. We then shared the acorn squash and kale salad - this was the highlight of our dinner. The kale was so well dressed and massaged it took minimal effort to chew and was full of flavor - the squash was perfectly prepared - not too mushy and still held its shape. We also shared the steak and frites - how can you go wrong? Hanger steak prepared perfectly with crispy frites and garlic aioli? We cannot wait to go back. Worth every second of the extra trip up to ellison bay. The owner put his heart and soul into every piece of that restaurant - and you can tell the staff is a family. It is very hard to get reservations - they have a first come first serve gazebo for cocktails and bar bites, but right now, reservations only.

Yelp
The standard in Wisconsin is just lower for food, I've come to accept. The restaurants are largely owned/run by a handful of men, which I think is part of the problem. The menus seem to all be trying too hard, and they don't get the basic things right. The restaurants don't play to their strengths (so much shellfish!)-- the more zany and exotic the better. A new diner opened up in Madison with a spam sandwich, I swear to god. But when I heard about the James Beard nominee at Wickman, I decided to give it a try. The ambience was warm and generally friendly. I could see it being an especially cozy spot in the winter. It's an old charming Victorian. The food, however, was terrible. Nothing looked particularly appealing as a vegetarian, and the milk bread ricotta toast was inedible. They offered to bring me another dish, but as a vegetarian who doesn't like Caesars, I didn't have many options. I did appreciate that their wine list showed if it was female-owned, biodynamic, sustainable, organic. I sat at the bar and the bartender rushed me to order. She was annoyed with my few questions about wine and food pairings, and rolled her eyes--didn't even respond initially. They did ultimately not charge me for the toast, and I gave them a hefty tip mostly because there was a second bartender who had been kind.

Yelp
Hubby and I dined here for our wedding anniversary. The place is very romantic. our waitress was very knowledgeable and our food was excellent. We'll be dining here again on our next trip to Door County...if we're lucky enough to get a reservation again!

Kat B.

Yelp
Such a fantastic meal. We devoured every bite. Freshest of ingredients, outstanding flavors. A lengthy craft cocktail list. We had impeccable service. Atmosphere is charming. You can't go wrong with a deviled egg du jour.

Mike K.

Yelp
Our waitress was amazing and the food here is incredible. The only issue I had at all was the portion to price ratio. Other than that the deviled eggs were delicious and my pork duo was delicious. They are focused on local ingredients and did a great job layering flavors. The smoky greens, polenta and pork paired excellently!

Michelle P.

Yelp
I have always loved Wickman House but my last visit was disappointing. The waitress seemed at a loss when it came to describing the specials. At one point when she could not give us an answer on how something was prepared, she had the owner (Mike) come over and explain it to us like we were some sort of knuckle dragging idiots. When our food arrived it was actually disappointing. I don't understand what happened. We had a party of 6 and 5 of us were disappointed. Normally ..... it's fabulous cocktails and plump sweet oysters followed by a delicious salad and a wonderful entree. The last time,...Cocktails ok ,oysters very good, entrees, not good at all. When you order grilled carrots as a side, you expect them hot if not very warm. These were chilled and the waitress never thought to say " Just so you're aware..." The whole thing was a bad experience. I may try again but, alone. I won't pay top dollar for 6 unless I'm sure the last time was a fluke.

Julie M.

Yelp
From the moment we sat down everything was AMAZING! The drink special with fig syrup was to die for as well as the oysters, Charcuterie board, cast-iron chicken(the potatoes had crack in them ), fish monger stew and the flourless choc cake! Seriously the best meal and the service is always top notch from these guys. Ya need to eat here or you will have major FOMO if ya don't!

Charlan H.

Yelp
The food is creative and delicious. The service is great and the atmosphere welcoming.

Emily R.

Yelp
Just didn't wow me. Waiter didn't having the time right and didn't know the portion size of the NY strip and we ordered based off her recommendation. Not accurate. The potato dish was covered with a mayo based aioli that was too thick and more of a Mayo taste than anything else. Kale Caesar was off with flavors. The dessert was the highlight. Could have skipped everything else and saved a lot of money!

Mia M.

Yelp
I first came to the Wickman House 5 years ago and loved it then & I still love it today!!! Came to Door county for an impromptu birthday trip and I was amazingly able to get reservations the day prior (This place books weeks out FYI -- but they work with their guests to get you in!!) The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone was especially accommodating about our reservation. We sat in the screened in porch & it was lovely. Very low level lighting with a small candle on the table. Simple & romantic. Ambience was relaxing and volume was average. Their cocktails are a must. Specially crafted with unique ingredients and taste amazing. I got the "gin beet down" and it was delicious & refreshing. My boyfriend wanted something that wasn't on the menu and the bartender was able to create that drink for him. Our food was .....phenomenal!!!!!! No way to explain how delicious this food is other than to experience it yourself. Everything is fresh & farm to table. Not to mention my boyfriend is Vegan and the chef was able to customize specific dishes for his dietary restrictions-- no issue at all and the waitress (Zephyr; she was beyond kind and so knowledgeable about the menu!!!) was able to discuss this with him. As any customer does, we appreciate it when chefs can accommodate to specific diets and be flexible/creative on their own dishes when needed. It says a lot about the restaurant & shows they really care. If you eat seafood -- you must order the oysters. They always have a special selection sourced from somewhere good! What I love about these oysters is that they do NOT serve them with the generic saltine crackers & cocktail sauce....they have a unique vinegar sauce with I think green onions...couldn't tell but it's DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! Love it! Overall this was such a great dining experience & Wickman house remains to be one of my all time favorite restaurants!!! Thank you!!

Darla D.

Yelp
Excellent food, cocktails, service & ambience. Highly recommend but you need reservations.

Lynn M.

Yelp
Not sure what's going on here. We had a remarkable dining experience here and were eager to return. I made a 7:00 reservation and called to say that our day's schedule had changed and we were hungry after skipping lunch. I was told he wasn't sure that our request would work. We arrived an hour before our reservation time. There were many empty tables. We waited half an hour with visible open tables. After this ridiculous wait, we were seated at one of the tables that had been open for hours. The food and service had made an obvious decline. We left half eaten plates and a feeling of extreme disappointment. We will not return when so many other options are available for wonderful dining in Door County. An expensive mistake.

Double L.

Yelp
Excellent all the way around. It's clear that Wickman focuses on every aspect of the dining experience to ensure guests have a great time. Food is excellent. Drinks are excellent. Atmosphere is excellent. Service is excellent. The grounds of the property are excellent. Can't wait to go back. This was one of the best meals we've had in a long while as every aspect of the meal was well executed and of the highest quality. Staff was extremely knowledgeable. There is something for everyone on the food and drink menu.

Megan P.

Yelp
Our trio was woo'd by the service, ambiance and food. Sitting at the bar was an experience of the lost art of bartending. Hope and Mike engage with you and make you feel like a local while they craft cocktails with ease. The Wickman house can cater to dietary restrictions and the staff is knowledgeable of the menu to make recommendations. Make a reservation because this gem is not hidden.

Stu L.

Yelp
Great food but limited menu. I had the steak, friends had the pork and the chicken. Absolutely no complaints. The various martinis were a hit.

T L.

Yelp
sat at the bar, enjoyed an incredible meal with prompt attentive service the entire time. The bartender Hope was great. wonderful all around and can't wait to enjoy another meal there soon.

Aaron A.

Yelp
Great selection of cocktails and wine, farm to table fresh. Loved the intimate setting, but also a hustle bustle environment. Great spot in door county.

Patrick M.

Yelp
I have had a lot of great meals in my life, but this was a top ten experience. Fantastic food and wonderful wait staff. I just wish it wasn't so hard to get a table here!

Amy J.

Yelp
Food menu used to be better and fabulous. The menu a bit too weird to drop $150+ for a couple to dine. Cocktail menu is impressive. Many including me are bothered the owners were very vocal about supporting BLM and some proceeds from meals were to be donated there. BLM is very controversial. If you are a business keep your strong political views to yourself. This way patrons with differing beliefs will not feel uncomfortable dining in your establishment. With the very high prices Wickman charges I'd rather dine elsewhere where I feel more comfortable. Wickman used to be my favorite restaurant in all of WI but cannot recommend it anymore and we've dined elsewhere in Door County every season since the pandemic started.

Cassidy S.

Yelp
We have been to Door County every summer for decades, so we were excited to try a brand new spot for dinner. This gorgeous restaurant is set on a farmhouse property. We arrived a few minutes early and walked around the vegetable garden (another option is the bar in the gazebo!). We were seated promptly and given an indoor table near the bar; my mom was worried it would be too loud but it really didn't bother us. Everything was delicious, from the craft cocktails to the incredible entrees. We recommend the pork, the chicken, and ordering off the well-curated wine menu! Our server was masked and very friendly. Highly recommend for a nicer dinner or a fun cocktail spot.

Mary T.

Yelp
This will be my favorite place forever. The ambiance is charming and welcoming, along with a fabulous staff. You know it will be a magical evening when the fresh bread that arrives at your table is the best you've ever had. The appetizers, mains, and desserts were all delicious! Local products, attention to detail, it's all there. Make every attempt to get Wickman House on your "places to eat" list. We'll be back!

Soren N.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious and a wonderful experience. Make sure to get a reservation (we used Resy) as the times fill up! Highlights include their amazing selection of cocktails (really loved Berry Blitz and the jalapeño Comrade), oysters, cheese curds (delicious) and entrees of the scallops and fried green tomatoes and the skirt steak. Dessert was a fruit cobbler with ice cream and was delicious. Overall it's pretty pricy but well worth a nice evening out.

Dusty K.

Yelp
Worth it. I love restaurants like this. I'd eat here every day if I could. The food was fantastic and very flavorful. From the bread to start, to the apps, then entrees and desserts. We were blown away by everything including the service and ambiance. They are also handling the distance eating very well. If you're a bit timid, they make everyone feel comfortable. I can't wait to go back.

John S.

Yelp
Used to be great but now way too exclusive and foodie. Insanely expensive. Food is fussy, service is attentive. Lots of farm to table ingredients which is great but not if you have to take out a second mortgage. Really the ideal place for Chicago trust fund babies.

Genevieve K.

Yelp
What a treat - even it if is a little pricier than other places, it is worth it!! Nice ambience in the old house and enough heaters on the porch in winter that it was very comfortable. The devilled eggs were a real surprise - who ever adds so many "toppings"? We were able to find some wonderful vegetarian choices from their limited menu that eating was a culinary experience. Good waitstaff and friendly environment. Be prepared to spend about $50/person in total but again, it was worth it!

Dick V.

Yelp
We've been coming for many years. It is a good restaurant but they started taking themselves too seriously. BRING BACK THE CURDS!!!

Abbi B.

Yelp
I have been to the Wickman House a few times before deciding that I would like to have my birthday dinner with them. So to end my celebrations, my fiancée and I brought some friends along for their first time visit and they were just as blown away as we were. The food, cocktails, and service were all exceptional. Kayla was our server this evening and was knowledgeable on the menu but also super fun and friendly. Hope and Travis (as always) crafted the most delicious drinks and even whipped up a few mocktails for our guests who do not drink. I was slightly disappointed when I heard that the heirloom tomatoes were sold out for the season, but that disappointment didn't last long, as their replacement dish was a spaghetti squash cacio e pepe which was to die for and probably my favorite plate of the evening. The drive up the peninsula to Ellison Bay is always worth it if we are headed to the Wickman House!

Jan M.

Yelp
We love it here! Since this was a last minute trip, we did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat us in the bar. The space was even more to our liking, and we had a delightful server named Rosa. She is a gem and really enhanced the evening for us!!! Everything from the wines to the starters, mains and dessert were fabulous. We will certainly be back next time.

John B.

Yelp
Four of us returned to Wickman House to celebrate all of having had the COVID19 vaccine. It was our first dining out experience since February, 2020. Nothing appears to have changed (which is good). Outstanding cocktails and cuisine in a beautiful setting, attended to by a cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful server. She wore a mask, which made us feel comfortable, despite having had our shots. (Our concern is that there is slim chance of catching the virus anyway and passing it on to some un-vaccinated or compromised person.) I order the chicken, which was accompanied by hasselback potatoes. Both were cooked to perfection. Would we come back? Well, yeah. This place is a gem.

Margo A.

Yelp
*we did the take out option* What a fantastic experience! I pre-ordered our meal online and showed up about 20 minutes early! My husband and I thought we'd enjoy a cocktail on their grounds before heading somewhere to eat our food. The host let us order the drinks with her, and server came to find us. We found two chairs and a bench to wait, and turns out they let us eat there too! We went for a feast with expectations of left overs; -1 lb pulled pork (dare I say it didn't even need sauce, it was cooked to perfection) - Two cheesy biscuits - Mac and Cheese -Elote - Baked Beans - Pickled Peppers Our favorite was the Mac and corn, but everything was delicious! It was just a perfect meal!

Kim M.

Yelp
Beautiful setting, great service. Food was best we had in the Door. Make a reservation, dress up and go here!

Alexis R.

Yelp
This review has been long overdue! The best restaurant in every aspect!!! We have been here a few times now and I cannot say enough good things about Wickman House!! We honestly come to Door County just to eat here!! Our last time visiting was truly amazing all thanks to Zach!! He is so passionate and knowledgeable and made the experience that much better! The food is phenomenal! The drinks are creative and actually taste so good!! Have a great wine list as well!! We sat in the gazebo and wow it was unexpectedly great ambiance!! We haven't sat inside yet but hope to on our next visit!!

Shane D.

Yelp
Meh. Not that impressive. All I hear from everyone in Door County is that the Wickman House is amazing. It is an excellent restaurant for the area but nothing special. I actually thought the prices were a little high. The drink menu is pretty insane and is probably the highlight of our experience. They have some pretty fun drinks to pick from. Naturally, if you know me, I went with the frozen cherry drink. It was pretty good. Our drinks came out staggered which we found a little weird. Overall, service was very strange. We are fairly sure our waitress was on something. She would have long pauses when talking. Service was not bad, just weird. After we got our drinks we ordered some cheese curds which were excellent. Highly recommend. After our app, we order our meals which were a steak dish, pasta dish and a burger. All were decent but nothing special. The burger did come on a dry bun that was disappointing given the price. I probably would not return just because I think better options are in the area. Nice place though. Just not for me.

Lily M.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere! Great food and great staff. Very charming building with awesome cocktails. Highly recommend. Seasonal menu.

Heidi R.

Yelp
We have known about Wickman House for a while since we've attended Taste of Door County (which is held on its grounds) for several years as it usually occurs the week that we're up in Door County. We were always impressed with the beautiful grounds that the restaurant sits on, but we thought the restaurant was a little outside of what we'd typically pay for dinner (not their fault--just our budget), but this summer thanks to Covid, they are offering BBQ for curbside pickup. This is more in line with our budget, so we ordered from them the other night--and it was mostly a very good decision. They offer brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, and chicken. All the meat is available by the pound, except the chicken, which is available by halves. Since we're not big red meat eaters--and I'd be eating that pound of brisket til the cows came home, we ordered two half roast chickens. The chicken was dry-rubbed, and I don't know how they do it, but the spice penetrated the skin so the meat was so flavorful and had a great pepper taste. It was also very moist. One could also choose from three different sauces--we picked the regular barbecue sauce. It was a tiny sweet for my taste, but my husband loved it. It came in a generous portion for $2. Besides the mains, there are different sides one can order. We got the classic coleslaw. The menu says it comes dressed with a sesame dressing. I cannot say what that takes like--it didn't take "sesame" to us, but the coleslaw was fresh and had a bit of spice that was really tasty. However, the menu says that it's 12 ounces for $6--and the container was about three quarters full which didn't seem very full given the price tag. We have no problem paying for quality, but at the same time, make sure that quantity matches the price. I reckon we got about $3-4 worth of slaw. Wickman does care about its food, no question. When we arrived for our 5 p.m. pick-up a few minutes early, they said they were resting the chicken so we had a wait a few minutes, but that resting was certainly worth it. Would we order from them again? Yes, that chicken was delicious, however, next time we will get a different side or just make our own at home.

Unbelievably good! Oysters were so fresh, clean and delicious, cherry tomato goat cheese dip was exquisite, my pasta entree was amazing! We ate outdoors in a picturesque setting and when it got a little cool, the maitre 'd turned on a heater without us having to ask. Olivia was an awesome waitress. Great experience!
