Wilburn Street Tavern - Review - East Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Tucked away behind fine dining titansFolkandAudrey, Wilburn is a true neighborhood bar. Walk in on a weeknight and find folks reading in the corner, watching the game on the TV, or chatting with work friends at the bar, and if you’re lucky, there’ll be a pup there, too. Prices here are similarly laid back, with cocktails like the salty dog, ouzo lemonade, and Negroni (our favorite) running a cool $11, with the house wine topping out at $12. Domestic beers range from $4-5, and you can snag a super fancy hot dog for $8. The Devil Dog, a bacon-wrapped beef dog topped with potato salad, hot sauce, and tajín, will knock your glizzy-loving socks off." - Bailey Freeman

A Guide to Nashville’s Best Dive Bars | Eater Nashville

"Back from the dead after a short hiatus and change of ownership (enter Teresa Mason of beloved Mas Tacos), the McFerrin Park dive bar saw some renovations but remains the same low-key longtime Eastside hang. Thankfully, the name and iconic sign remain, but folks can get pumped about menu items like a Sonoran hot dog or classic bar nachos." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Music City Food and Wine’s Guest Chefs Can’t Wait to Eat and Drink in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Mark Oldman says “When you are seeking the shelter of a dive bar, hot foot it over to the recently revived Wilburn Street Tavern. It is a fine place to hang with locals, play some pool, and knock back a few well-made cocktails.”" - Delia Jo Ramsey

Mas Tacos Owner Plans to Revive East Nashville Dive Bar Wilburn Street Tavern | Eater Nashville

"A recently closed neighborhood watering hole on the east side is being resurrected: Wilburn Street Tavern at 302 Wilburn St. will be reopened this spring by Mas Tacos owner Teresa Mason. The dive bar, long run by beloved neighborhood fixture Miss Paulette, closed early last fall for renovations before a permanent shutter was announced in December; Mason says she’ll keep the name and current signage and intends it to remain a low-key hangout for McFerrin Park residents when it reopens in late April/early May. The space will get a spit polish — new furniture and a pool table — and will serve beer and liquor, but without a full kitchen Mason will only be able to heat items like nachos and hot dogs (earlier tamale rumors have been confirmed as false). Mason’s planned revamp is the latest addition to the quickly evolving McFerrin Park neighborhood, where chefs Philip Krajeck and Bryan Lee Weaver plan to open restaurants on the same block." - Matt Rogers

Google
Chill neighborhood dive bar. Couple of varieties of hot dogs on the menu for food and nachos. They have a pool table. Occasionally comedy, karaoke, or some band pops up. Don't expect anything too fancy though they do rock a decent negroni. Surprisingly a variety of canned beers including Helles and Pilsner Urquell. Overall price is good, parking is crappy, ambiance is fine. It's a dive bar through and through.

Google
This place exemplifies every phase of a phenomal dive bar perfectly. Simple menu, well priced, great people / service, and an atmosphere that can only be experienced in such a place. Margaritas and hot dogs were top notch. Can’t miss at any time of day or night

Stopped by for a drink on my way to the airport after a work trip. Just a wonderful little spot! Definitely recommend for any travelers missing their local corner bar.

Google
A cute, “very basic”( by bartender, explaining the absence of mint i asked for my gin/tonic. They didnt care/make our favorite drinks, and we went with the classics: gin/tonic and old fashion), neighborhood bar. We appreciated late hours (close @midnight), quick service and interior design individuality. Seems like a good place for a layback hang out.

Google
Pretty cool neighborhood dive bar with great ambience. We had beers - they only have can/bottle beers, no beers on tap which was a little unexpected.. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the laid back experience after a long drive day and would for sure go to this place frequently if we lived close by.

Google
Cozy spot in the neighborhood. Drinks are solid! looks like it can get a little busy for the bartender. Not too bad though. Great time and good music. Would recommend

Google
Wonderful little dive bar in East Nashville; the cozy vibes definitely make it a great spot to start or end a night out. Pool table in the center, and live music in the front corner. Took one star off for lack of AC, but it honestly didn’t bother me at all - too busy listening to the killer Tuesday night jazz group!

Google
Okay so I am giving this place five stars because I literally stan this place, but the bartender tonight was worse than any I have ever experienced. I asked him multiple questions about the drinks and he knew nothing. May friends also tried to ask him questions, as simple as what the people previous had ordered, and he was stunned like a possum in the crosshairs of a Ram 1500 and an 18 wheeler. I really think he was trying to troll me. I will still come back because like I said, I love this place. But this bartender is the biggest troll and I don’t know if I love him or hate him for it. To be determined.

Yelp
We were waiting for a dinner reservation next door and decided to pop in for a drink. I LOVE this local dive and was pleasantly surprised. Bartender was funny and made some mean drinks. Super chill, as you'd expect, and definitely a great place to relax with a drink. Fun decor and had some good quirks - which I'm always a huge fan. No tourists, reasonable prices, tasty drinks - you can't beat it.

Yelp
Wilburn has the best bar vibes in the city. The $7 shot and bar is what first brought me in. Now I play pool here every week. Sy behind the bar is the best bartender in town.

Yelp
Adding to what's already been said, "a neighborhood classic". No tourists - just a good vibe with food if you need it. Nachos are solid, and I haven't had the hot dogs. Love this place.

Yelp
Great local dive. Very friendly staff. Si the bartender was really nice. I would not suggest the food but if you are looking for some cool music and an ice cold beer this place is as good as any.

Yelp
Love this place! It's a hidden gem of Nashville - the whole street really is but it's very fun and inviting. Great outdoor space and drink specials!

Yelp
The vibe here is among the best of any dive bar in town. Teresa of Mas Tacos is the new owner, so no more Miss Paulette, but all the charm of this now updated watering hole is there otherwise. Occasional live music, a single pool table, plenty of beer and liquor. Pretty good deals for drinks on the relative cheap. Hot dogs, too, and they're not bad. It's really all about the community feel though - it'll be an "always neighborhood classic" for as long as it lives.

Yelp
It's more than a dive, but not too ritzy like a lot of Nashville have become. No marble countertops, no brightly-lit Instagram photo-ops. Yes some art and plants, some cozy booths, yes a pool table. It's just a bar. That serves good drinks. They're not making all their own bitters and lighting things on fire for you, but they're not just serving Jack & Coke. It's the perfect middle. My favorite thing is that they wrote their brief cocktail menu with a range of prices ($6 to $11), so you can drink and socialize without breaking the bank. My current favorite is the Ouzo Lemonade - a refreshing tart lemonade (house-made, I think) with a cooling anise flavor from the Ouzo. They also sometimes have killer specials (hello $5 bees knees!). I hope they write some new cocktails for winter. They also have a beer list (bottles and cans) that my partner often orders from. But if you're looking for taps, you are in the wrong spot (and you should check out Vinyl & Taps on the other side of Gallatin!). I don't come here to eat, so I can't speak to that. It's bar fare - mostly a couple hot dog options, which is just not my bag. On Sundays, they have special food for brunch that I've heard is a unique and yummy experience, but haven't tried it myself. So my rating is based on the cocktails and atmosphere only.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar on the East side. Drinks are well-crafted and snacks are tasty!

Yelp
I wish I could give them different ratings for staff vs venue. I enjoyed the drinks and the food but I was really alienated by the bathroom configurations as a queer woman. The options are "Men"or "whatever". So wrong toned. Seriously. Make all your bathrooms unisex at minimum.

Yelp
They have the best guacamole pop up and lavender drinks of my whole life, and the bartender is too amazing! 100% best bar in this town.

Yelp
Favorite nashville bar. It's nice to come to a local spot and not get bombarded. Fave nashville spot. As long as it stays under the radar, i will continue coming here 4 nights a week

Yelp
Love this place! Amazing atmosphere and drink deals. And the pool table is a plus. Definitely a must go on the east side.

Ryan N.

Yelp
Great style, vibe and atmosphere. Solid drink and a shot deal (tall boy and rail shot for $6). Nice pool table and seating options. Not pretentious. Service is quality.
