"Locals are annoyed by how many cyclists and day-trippers have discovered their favorite roadside bakery in Freestone, but it is a dreamy breakfast stop before hitting some Russian River wineries or swimming holes. The bakery looks out on a field of cows, while the wood-fired brick oven puts out fragrant sourdough and scones. There’s no indoor dining but the garden is open for visitors to enjoy." - Lauren Saria, Becky Duffett

Wildflour was recommended to me by a Santa Rosa local and needless to say, it definitely is a must try! Known for artisanal bread and their bomb scones, wild flour has a lot of variety of bread that fits everybody’s bread cravings ranging from sourdough, savory, sweet, flat breads, and pastries. Would recommend their garlic rosemary, any of their flatbreads, and anyone of their scones! There was a line on Sunday afternoon (assuming there’s always a line lol) Parking lot is kinda small but many people just park on the side of the road anyway. 10/10 must try or make it tour pit stop if you’re in sonoma county!

Google
This is a true, authentic reflection of west Sonoma County. Lovely people, beautiful displays, wonderful garden, amazing location...and those scones are to DIE for. All of the baked goods are legendary. I've been living out of CA for a few years now and I think about this place at least once a month. Truly a destination point on its own but it's right near the coast so there's plenty else to see out there if you decide to make the trip. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Sonoma County’s gem of a bakery. They have amazing gluten-free + vegan scones, and amazing normal ingredient scones too. They even use local flour. Go early (especially if you’re looking for something gluten-free + vegan) cause they sell out!

Google
We bought Superseed Bread, 2 scones: one is triple berry, the other is Meyer Lemon, omg definitely the best scone ever!!!!!! Definitely worth the drive here!

Google
Amazing Old French Wood Fire oven Bakery. Very rustic and the breads and pastries are amazing! The Scones are so good, this place is a must stop when heading towards Bodega Bay! Also they have a garden you can walk through and have picnic tables and seating tucked behind the garden.

Google
The strawberry rhubarb scone (paired with the hot chai latte) was phenomenal. I came back the day after I found this bakery just to buy more. They have a great selection of scones, cookies, breads (garlic rosemary!!), and more available at the cafe. Additionally Wild Flour has a beautiful garden to walk around/sit in while you enjoy your sweet treat. They grow a lot of fruits/veggies on site and it’s inspiring to see how well maintained the garden is. The bakery gets busy at times, but is very efficient so be patient as it is so worth the wait. (I don’t have pictures of the scones, I ate them too quickly I forgot)

Google
If I could rate this place 6 stars, I would. This is exactly what I needed from a bakery. Everything was so fresh and insanely delicious. We've never liked scones and now we realize we do if you make them right. This place does! We got two scones (strawberry rhubarb and jalapeño cheddar), a sticky bun, and a cheesy mushroom onion fugasse bread. I can't even tell you how blown away I was with this place and the flavors. I'm still amazed. Pictures of fugasse and sticky bun.

Google
Greatest bread. No other comment needed. Open 4 days a week (Fri-Mon) and a long fast moving line during the weekends. They have a variety of interesting breads; olive, superseeds, cheese and so on. The scones are also fantastic, my favorite is the gluten free mushroom asiago one. Drinks are passable but you should be here only for the bread anyway. Worth a detour on your California road trip or even the hour long trip from San Francisco.

Yelp
If you're a carb lover, then this place is for you! Situated in an off the beaten path, beautiful part of Northern California, this is definitely a must-go-to spot for anyone who loves their breads. They even have gluten-free scones. The most popular item here is easily the Fougasse (cheesy bread). You really cannot go wrong with anything you purchase from here. It's not just the quaint and picturesque features of this little bakery that draw the crowds - it's almost like you can taste the care put into their baked goods. I've never been here when there isn't a line, but it moves fairly quick. This trip we tried their triple berry scones, Egyptian bread, and sticky bun. As always, everything was delicious. The shop is small and parking minimal, but you can easily find parking on a side street and make the small walk. Take a little bit to walk around the grounds too. There's a cute garden area with little garden gnomes and statues hidden about, and picnic tables behind the shop where you can sit for a little bit.

Yelp
This out of the way bakery has some of the best bread I've ever had. The long lines are WELL worth the wait.they offer savory breads and various scones, which are also good and we often get them too. But, it's the bread. The first time we went here and got a hot loaf of the garlic rosemary we were under its spell. We've been back a few times since and always talk about how good it is. There is no seating area to speak of. So have a few bites in your car and go somewhere to enjoy it, maybe a local winery! Highly recommend! Pro tip - Buy extra and freeze it. I recommend cutting it into slices before freezing it. It saves great and is so good toasted after freezing.

Yelp
All roads lead to a most magical bakery called Wild Flour Bread! It is located in one of the most beautiful regions California has to offer. A trip to Wild Flour is one of my favorite drives! Rolling green hills and scattered herds of slow-moving cattle with the occasional group of goats will be your backdrop as you meander your way on a rural two lane road to the tiniest town of Freestone! What a fitting name. Out in the middle of nowhere yet close enough to the hustle and bustle of the busy lives of locals and travelers who flock to this well-known bakery. Once you arrive, one is usually greeted with a line of people quietly awaiting their turn to order favorite treats. Yes, before Covid, you could enter the old ramshackle farm house type building and be up close and personal with the sights and smells of all the incredible bakery items calling your name! And mingle with the employees behind the counter asking this and that. And even further back in the huge barn, you could catch a glimpse of everyone who is working on making the delicious goodies and doing their thing. But, alas, times have changed, and now you are greeted by a hole in the wall window where one employee takes your order and another quickly bags it up. This once wonderful and satisfying experience is now shockingly quick and over instantly! On to the next paying customer. The good news is that the items are still delicious and mouth watering. And once you have retrieved your precious treats, you may still wander around the bountiful garden in the back while noshing on your maple scone. It truly is a beautiful garden where peace and quiet and serenity await. Unless there are excited children running about, which also is fun to watch. I posted the menu board from my visit this past Sunday. There are so many good things. The coffee is excellent. So you are all set. All you have to do is get here. Open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.... It is the perfect way to spend a morning or early afternoon. Where are my photos of the wonderful goodies you ask! At Wild Flour Bread, it is impossible to think about taking pictures once those luscious treats are in hand:). Peace to all! #ThankYouThursday Wild Flour Bread.

Yelp
I stopped by Wildflour Bread on a day trip to Sebastopol/Guerneville based on a local's recommendation. While the bakery's location seemed a bit off the beaten path, the aroma of freshly-baked bread and the queue by the ordering window signaled that we arrived at the right place. The line to order moved quickly, and the employees were cheerful, friendly, and efficient. We arrived at the bakery around 9 AM when most of the breads were still available; however, I heard they sell out later in the morning. I tried the quince rose water marzipan scone and bought an olive loaf for the road. The scone was massive and loaded with fresh fruit. The rose flavor was quite intense, but it paired surprisingly well with the quince and marzipan. The scone tasted freshly baked and was very satisfying. Seating is limited to a bench outside the order window, but there is a lovely garden to the side of the bakery where they grow their own produce. I'd love to swing by Wildflour on my next trip to try some of their other loaves and seasonal flavors.

Yelp
This review is for the very delicious sticky bun. Our local friend brought us here and we picked up a piping hot sticky bun to take home. At first I was wondering why it was $9.75 for a bun, but it was huge and chewy and delicious. Three of us shared it and we still had a large part left over for later. Nice servers working at the window.

Yelp
This place is a gem. It's popular for a reason. The breads and scones are great. All fresh, made from scratch. They also have an impressive garden in site they let you walk through. It's worth a stroll if you have an extra few minutes. It's pretty much an order-to-go place. There was a long line but it moved quickly. The staff was friendly.

Mary W.

Yelp
I travel an hour to this bakery. Especially if you're in route to Bodega bay you drive right by this bakery heading to the Coast. If you are visiting Sebastopol, it's not that far and in a beautiful location. Earlier in the day the better, as they have less choices later in the day. I buy extra to freeze. Their Savory breads and sweet breads are great to slice for entertaining. Especially served with Cheese. Speaking of which, their Cheese breads are some of the best I've ever had. Very special place and great staff. ** Note: Be aware of the days they are open.

Swetha K.

Yelp
We never miss stopping by Wild Flour Bread on our trips to Bodega Bay! Highly recommend their Hearth breads - Olive Hearth is my #1, Super Seed is #2 and Garlic Rosemary #3!!! Will be trying more on my next trip! They also have a Gluten-free option for scones, and their cookies are good too. Service is quick by a the kiosk and everything is freshly made. Definitely stop by if you're in Bodega Bay! P.S: there's a cheese shop just down the road that perfectly compliments these breads!

Daniel M.

Yelp
Super cute bakery in Freestone, CA on our way to Bodega Bay. It's kind of crazy hot long this line stays...I thought for sure it would take 2 hrs but their staff is extremely efficient and very friendly to each other. "Another Rye love" My chocolate chip latte was tasty even though I asked for half sweet, and my artichoke and feta scone was delicious. I'm not a huge fan of sweetness so the savory items tickled my fancy and I'm just glad they had an option for me. I was a little summed that there weren't and tables and chairs, but a short stroll through the gardens provided benches, and picnic tables for our breakfast. Definitely worth the detour!!

Teri K.

Yelp
The most amazing bakery! This is a popular stop for us on the way to the coast. Their exceptional scones and breads are worth the wait in line. We stopped in on a Monday, which was much less crowded than a weekend, though the parking lot and street parking were still pretty full. Their baked goods are unique and varied. We tried the blueberry/apricot scone as well as the Meyer lemon/raspberry/ mango scone. The coffee with oat milk complemented the scones very nicely. We have tried several of their breads and sticky bun in the past and all have been excellent. Employees are always cheerful and helpful. Orders are taken at the window and your order is bagged up and promptly given to you at the adjoining window. You can no longer step into the store since the pandemic. Their baked goods are one of the best around. Closed Tues, Wed, Thurs.

Yelp
Amazing baked goods that I want to keep inhaling! We arrived a bit after 9:30 am on Friday morning and there was a bit of a line. It was our first time so it gave us time to look through the menu and make our choices. The person in front of us heard us chatting about what to get and gave her thoughts since she's a regular and loved this bakery. We ordered three scones, a sticky bun and a fougasse and none disappointed. If anything, I was blown away by the scones! So soft, great balance of flavor and not dry at all! We enjoyed some fresh scones in the garden which is such an amazing touch. You can find a bench in the garden or go further in where there's more seating and some benches too to enjoy your purchase. If you're remotely around the area, swing by because it is so worth it!

Christina G.

Yelp
Big menu posted outside, line moves quickly, order at the window and get your order at the next window immediately. Got a bunch of stuff to try since I've wanted to come here for years!! Peanut butter cookie - not great but not terrible... more like a peanut butter bread Gouda bread - love a cheesy bread and this was as advertised Salty dog bread - nothing that exciting about it but good Pumpkin bread - seasonal offering and not our favorite as it was savory and we didn't quite know what to eat it with (so not sure why we bought it other than we may have been inspired by PSL season haha) Rosemary garlic bread - tasty but not as garlicky as I would have wanted. Butternut squash scones - these were out of stock when I got in line and came available fresh out the oven before I got to the front. They were fantastic. Quince rose water scone - not soapy at all and the perfect level of sweetness Cinnamon sweet bread - so sticky and big. Kept us full for days Iced coffee - just wanted to note that they have this even though it's not on the menu :) It's just their warm drip coffee over ice.

Yelp
What an awesome wood fired bakery nestled along the country roads in Occidental. They have great breads and sweets that are top-notch. It's a nice location to stop and take a break on a road trip, get a snack and enjoy their garden. They only take cash but are very trusting and honor IOU's.

Ryo F.

Yelp
I haven't been here in many years. But I can tell you eating their bread is simply an amazing experience!

Brianne P.

Yelp
Yum yum yum. We took home the 'wonder' hearth bread, the fougasse cheese bread with shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions and various cheeses (to die for) and last but not least, a maple, banana, pecan scone. The smell of this scone alone was a precursor for how delicious it was. Take a stroll through the garden too. A small bakery in the mountains is true nostalgia.

Judy C.

Yelp
A friend of mine is willing to drive over an hour each way from Moraga to pick scones from Wild Flour so of course when I was in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. The line was long and I was with a group of friends so we had plenty of time to decide to what to order...and we decided on half the menu. Ok maybe not half but we spent like $60+. Overall, there were a couple items I thought were craveable, several very solid items, and a couple things that were fine but weren't for me. My favorite that day was the gluten free apple cheddar scone - so soft and delicious. There's a lovely garden nearby and some outdoor tables to sit at and enjoy your baked goodies. If you make a large order, double check what they give you because they did leave out a loaf of bread in our order, but were very nice about replacing it.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
No map needed-just follow the Smell of Freshly-Baked Bread. The fabulous bakery is centered on making the best most flavorful bread possible. Wild Flour Bread features brick oven baked sourdough breads, scones and coffee and the flavors and quality is truly magical. They host brick ovens, all natural seasonal ingredients. All of the breads are from a sourdough base and baked in a large brick oven. The aroma of fresh bread is so inviting ---and waiting in line allows you to really consider the delicious menu. We we wanted it all-but settled on: the Fougasse and the sticky bun. Service: Welcoming, fast, and helpful service. Note: come early as it does get busy. YOU don't want to miss out on the breads you have your heart on. They go fast. Perk: Stroll the cute garden while you drink your coffee and enjoy your bread.

Katherine K.

Yelp
My daughter, who is very particular, and tends to stay away from sweets, is crazy about the sticky bun from wildflour. Being gluten-free myself, I was very happy that they have gluten-free options. This place is very popular for a good reason! We can't wait to return.

R R.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Everything we have tried has been delicious! The people who work there are so nice and lovely to talk to despite the place being super busy on the weekend. Every time we are around that area we stop at wild flour.

James A.

Yelp
I've wanted to try this place for a while but the hour and a half drive kept me away. Finally planned a trip to go hiking on the coast specifically so we could stop here on the way and my life has changed forever. Never again will i balk at a 1.5 hour drive to go to Wild Flour, the food is well worth the 3 hour round trip drive even without a hiking trip planned. We got there at about 8:03 and only had two people in front of us in line. We placed our order, used the restroom and took a little walk around their garden (SO BEAUTIFUL!!). By the time we got back in our car at about 8:15, there were about 40 people in line with more showing up every second. We got: The mushroom fougasse - OMG incredible. Best thing we had from there. Best thing we ate that day. Possibly the best thing we had eaten in weeks. Pear walnut scone - One of the best scones I've ever had. Super flavorful, crumbly and delicious. Bohemian - I've never had a sweet bread like this, it was the definition of perfection. A very close second to the fougasse. Sweet but not too sweet, good sized and full of amazing flavor. Salty Dog - My wife LOVED this loaf. I, however, thought it was good not great. But that's all about personal preference. The crust is very thick and chewy which I don't love but my wife does. Garlic Rosemary - EXCELLENCE!!! I could not stop eating this. SUPER flavorful, crust wasn't as thick as the salty dog. And the smell, omg the smell was incredible. That loaf did not make it through the day

Samantha C.

Yelp
Drove up here with a good friend yesterday. We got there right before they opened and a short line had already formed outside. What we got: Shiitake fougasse (4/5) -- didn't get much mushroom, but great texture Rosemary garlic loaf (5/5) -- super prominent garlic and rosemary flavors, very memorable crispy/chewy skin and tender inside Gouda flat (5/5) -- great cheesy bread Apricot blueberry scone (5/5) -- love the sugar finish on top to add crunch and sweetness, the apricot was more present than the blueberry in this Meyer lemon, mango, rasp scone (4/5) -- a lot going on for me but I was able to detect every flavor as I ate it...I thought it needed more sugar and salt Nectarine chocolate chip scone (3/5) -- really heavy on the chocolate, too little nectarine Asiago mushroom onion herb scone (5/5) -- the best item, an extremely herby/cheesy/savory scone that might be the best scone I've ever had...moist throughout and crispy on the outside Oatmeal walnut cranberry cookie (5/5) -- really great crispy edges with chewy inside...the cranberry walnut combo kept me coming back for more I'm not much of a bread person, but I became one for the weekend with all these goodies. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area to try more of their loaves and pick up more scones!

Sharon S.

Yelp
What a cute name for a bakery, love the play on words in action. We stopped by here to pick-up some addicting bread we sampled at a winery open house. This bakery is walk-up window only and only serves bread. They have about 12 different kinds. We got the fougasse (the addictive bread) we came seeking, sticky bun bread, and garlic rosemary. Fougasse - contains shiitake, onion, Swiss, Jack and Gouda Sticky bun - contains cinnamon, walnut and raisins Garlic rosemary - contains bits of garlic in the bread along with a hint of rosemary Service was friendly and quick. Breads were a bit expensive. We paid over $30 for three breads. The star of this bakery is definitely the Fougasse. The sticky bun and garlic rosemary were both okay but didn't have the extra oomph that the Fougasse did. We would drive up to Sebastopol/Freestone area just to get this bread!

Mike G.

Yelp
This place makes excellent breads and other products. However, on our most recent trip there, I found the rye loaf to be under baked and VERY dense. My wife and friends suggested toasting it. Didn't really help. Normally, something like this would be a four star review for me. However, it is three stars because I sent them an email (with photos) about the issue and never got a response.

Kevin Y.

Yelp
Got the fougasse, comes out fresh and war.first time having a bread like this. A lot of stuff were sold out, but mainly came to try the fougasse and it's worth a stop.

Frank E.

Yelp
My wife and I got the bread with rosemary, which was very good and then we got Egyptian bread, which neither of us have ever tried and it was amazing. If you're ever in this area, please stop by. You won't regret it.

Ziyan C.

Yelp
Our friends got us bread from here and we were so thankful. Love their unique flavors and fresh baked goods. * Peach pecan scone - 4 stars Thick crust, lovely. * Strawberry white chocolate chip basil scone - 3.5 stars More flat than I expected, also quite tart. * Bohemian - 3 stars This is very sticky, more of a dessert bread.

Bharti S.

Yelp
We visit WF whenever we are passing through Bodega Bay for many years now but never wrote a review.... This time during our Labor weekend trip we stopped by on the way to grab couple of pastries & bread . They have a lovely garden with incudes veggies , herbs, fruits etc... we fell in love with their garden when we visited them first time... from then we always make it a point to take a stroll through the small garden. Earlier ( before pandemic) we use to go inside the bakery & choose from the wide variety of artisan breads & pastries it was so fun ... now they have stopped it ... hope they start it again... same with the garden too ... we miss checking out the garden .... Anyway, I purchased their whole wheat bread which we really enjoy & couple of pastries... everyone enjoyed the special treats especially the kids... We have tried all their bread which are delicious . Do check it out ... they accept credit cards. I enjoy the drive too.

John P.

Yelp
After coming out of Osmosis, we saw a long line at Wild Flour, so we decided to check it out. This place has a lot of fresh bread options, beverages and cookies! The bread is worth the price and they come in big loafs. There are no places to sit. Just grab and go. Here are my favorites: - Stickybun - Fougasse - Pumpkin - Garlic Rosemary We waited in line for like 8 mins. Service was fast! We got the bread almost immediately. Drinks took maybe about 5 mins? I would definitely come back again. The bread was soft, fresh and yummy! I'm glad we were curious enough to try it. No wonder this place had a long line!

Mari M.

Yelp
I go up every year when I go to a nearby camp. Their breads are always on point. Hadn't been back since covid, but I'm glad they're still going strong! I always look forward to this extra special trip to Wild Flour!

Vivian W.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon, around 2pm and waited approx 10 mins in line. Staff was friendly We got the rye bread and one of the savory scones. The rye bread was denser than I hoped, next time I will probably opt for a different bread (maybe one of the rounds). I don't eat a lot of scones, but this one had a nice crumb. Wish I ordered a cup of coffee to go with my scone though. I loved the garden and how there was some seating in the back. Hopefully they reopen the shop in the near future so we can walk inside

Bobbi Michelle W.

Yelp
Ambiance is so West County, communal seating indoors, rustic seating in spring & summer in an abundant and rambunctious garden. The parking is easy but can fill up in the summer. Street parking is available so in and out is no problem. The value and diversity is there, the quality and freshness is dangerously addictive if your local lavender, raspberries, strawberries, ginger, seeds, cheeses, flat, biscotti, scones, sour dough, flat breads, white etc

Mina G.

Yelp
You will love their bread and the scones you never knew you wanted! I have had many a scones, most are dry and I won't eat them, that is until I came here they're moist delicious crispy outside light as air inside yum! I used to say just get a loaf of sourdough, ahhh but there are oh so many delicious choices to make here, you must try something new. All I can say is every bread, scone, sticky bun or bohemian loaf it's delicious and bursting with tons of flavor, oranges, raspberries and my favorite there are the scones with marzipan it's heavenly. They change the menu frequently so check one out or many. When I left I bought the bohemian loaf and 2 chocolate raspberry scones and two of the cranberry and orange cardamon scones are bomb. When you have a chance swing by Freestone they have a walk up window easy Peasy fast. Before the pandemic you could go inside, and I am perfectly fine with grabbing and running home, maybe I'll brake off some bits of scones on the drive home it's definitely worth a trip, ah fresh breads how you gonna hate lol See you there, cheers ALL SYOY

Christina H.

Yelp
This bakery is one of Sonoma County's sweetest and most delicious places. Any scone with Meyer lemon in it is bomb! Today I got the Fougasse bread, which has cheese, mushrooms and more running through it. I ate half the loaf all by myself. And the garden in back - spectacular!

Monica S.

Yelp
Our AirBnB host recommended this spot, but I wasn't prepared for how special this little garden bakery is! We came on a Monday - no line, quick service, and easy enough to find space in their magical garden for a leisurely brunch. One warning: their pastries are huge! I ordered a sticky bun and the Egyptian bun thinking they were single serve pastries, but they are the size of like four normal pastries stuck together. We also got an olive loaf and a cheese potato bread - also unexpectedly huge for the price. The baked goods and iced coffee were all good, but really, what makes this place amazing is the whole experience of sitting under the shade of a tree in their lovingly quirky garden, nibbling on a bag of still-warm baked goodies. An absolute gem. Definite must-visit if you are in the area.

Lucy N.

Yelp
The ambience is definitely welcoming and inclusive. My partner and I are rather inclusive and let's just say we felt like we were the least inclusive here, so that's saying something. There can be a line, but it moves very quickly since all the bread is already baked and people are just selecting what they want to buy. They have good coffee but no iced options. All of the bread is delicious and our favorite has got to be the Gouda flatbread be worn that their giant cinnamon row bread is huge. It can be eaten by 8 people for dessert.

Ken A.

Yelp
Ooooh ya! No wonder there is a line for this place; and cars all over the place. This is bread coma heaven. They have so many different breads, scones, and cookies. All are of the highest quality and very creative. The orchard makes this place even more interesting. You can your the grounds, get your food, sit and eat at the various cozy little spots throughout. We will be coming back every weekend. Pro Tip: Get there early because the start to run out. They come out with tape and cross items off the menu. All is gone by 2pm.

HOLLY P.

Yelp
I really do Love this place, I do. Their bakery items are so tasty BUT ever since COVID they have had the take-out window, which I get. BUT it's not necessary any longer. I no longer go there on a regular basis because of this. You don't get to mingle with other customers in the coziness of their family sitting area they formally had; you don't get to see the setting of where their baked items are prepared and baked, such as the brick oven, the bakers in the back baking, the flour boards; you don't get to view the beautifully baked items that were on display and choose the item that draws you; you don't get the tasty morsels anymore; you don't get to lightly talk and converse with the very friendly employees behind the register; you're not in the hustle and bustle of an environment that exudes baked items and the company of those who enjoy them. The essence of this business has now become stand in line, order your baked items and/or beverage, pay for the items, and then leave. It's sad to me that they don't want to bring that back to the people who have supported them during and since COVID. I miss the old ways.

Carla B.

Yelp
Scone flavors sell out early. Creative combinations savory and sweet. Visit the organic garden on the property!

Lisa F.

Yelp
Best hit bread straight frown the oven. I drive 2.5 hours round trip just for hot bread.

Charity C.

Yelp
Never had anything I didn't love here! Everything is amazing from the bread to the service! And the gardens are another favorite to grab a loaf of bread and walk around exploring the gardens.

Mark K.

Yelp
First time here. Funky little space in Freestone. I got loaves of the Fougasse and Sticky Bun bread. Both loaves were moist and heavy breads with good flavor. I wouldn't use them for a sandwich. They seem to be best for toasting with butter. The Sticky Bun is not a sweet bread. It is slightly sweet because of the raisins. I'm not big into eating bread by itself, but if you are, then this may be the place for you.

Ki R.

Yelp
This place is located along a remote road, Bohemian, in a small countryside town called Freestone. If you get lost or overshoot the turnoff or mistake this place for another, it is all worth it. I have to say that this has to be one of my all-time favorites now for sourdough bread and breakfast breads. Made fresh every day starting on Fridays. You need to get here very early as the line gets progressively longer by the minute they open at 8 am. They are known for their sourdoughs (wildflower white and extra white) and their fougasse and sticky bread. All in-which we ordered and tried. The coffees are gourmet and made freshly, as well. The staff are very friendly and are locals too. Their is a very kind and sweetheart of a woman that takes the orders at the service window, I forgot her name, but she is British and calls everyone love. Love her! Anyway, try this place when in the area you won't be disappointed I assure you.

Yelp
One of my favorite indulgences in life is bread and butter. You can have it as a whole meal or a snack, and you never get tired of it. If it wasn't for all the carbs, I would have bread and butter everyday. Anyway, I really thought the reviews for this bakery were exaggerated. "How good could this bread possibly be?" "It's in the middle of nowhere, is it really worth it?" And man did I eat my words - literally! My partner and I came here on a Sunday morning. We waited in a line of about 10-12 parties for about 10 minutes or so. We ordered 1 garlic rosemary and 1 salty dog for about $18/$19. Pretty reasonably priced considering how big the loaves are. They were both still warm! Since we had our camping stuff in the car, we decided to rip the garlic rosemary open. We slathered on some butter and it literally was one of the best loads of bread I've had. The inside was warm and fluffy, there were bits of garlic distributed in the bread and there is a bit of rosemary that isn't overwhelming. I wasn't a huge fan of the bottom of the bread, as it did taste a bit burnt to me. We waited until we got home to try the salty dog which was good but not exceptional, it reminded me of sourdough! I regret not getting more loaves to take home and share with friends and family. I'm eyeing the Fougasse and Gouda Flat to try, next time we are back in the area!

Yelp
Everything is wonderful here. We were traveling in the Midwest for a while and as soon as we got back to CA we carb loaded here because we missed good bread and baked goods. The only thing I would change is to not put sugar on the top of the scones. They are delicious without it. The service is always great and walking through the garden is always a treat. Love this gem!!

Yelp
Mmmmmm.... another day, another delicious selection from Wild Flour. Today I had the salty dog (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) bread, garlic rosemary bread, cherry scone, raspberry scone, and a peach chocolate scone. Gastronomic heaven! I can't wait to return to try more soon!

Yelp
Game-changing bread. Bread that puts you off other bread. Bread you travel for. Wild flour is wildfire and it's got bread as good as its name. We snagged a loaf of the garlic rosemary Fougasse as a snack before a hike near shell beach in bodega bay, yet it had us jumping for it on the drive and during the hike. Every bite was soft, flavored with the texture that perfectly freshly made bread has. They also had a cutesy small farm in the back where we saw some kale growing. The shop wasn't crowded when we got there, but just as we got our bread a line formed. I also enjoyed the sweet pumpkin scone, but man the bread, that bread. I wish they send some over to SF shops in the future.

Yelp
Here's the honest truth: You haven't had bread until you've had Wild Flour Bread's bread. It's on a whole 'nother level. Absolute perfection. So here's how it works... you arrive. Then park along the street, safely cross the road if needed, and meander over to the line. Yes, there's likely going to be a line. But don't fret it's 'take out only' and moves fast so be patient, it's worth the wait. Plus, there's a line for a reason- This hidden gem isn't all that hidden and the secrets out... their bread is THE BREAD! I can't speak highly enough of it. Ok... So once you make it to the window know what you want to keep the line moving. This may sound easier said than done because when you take a look at their menu you'll find everything sounds, and is, delicious (I've added a pic from their website of the menu). The choice is yours- but my go to is the rosemary garlic. Anyways, once you pay, move out the way! because it's likely I'm in the line starving behind you waiting to get my hands on my own culinary loaf of gold. While you're there check out the garden - it's pretty neat. We usually stop here on the way to the beach to supplement our other picnic necessities of cheese and wine. Please note, I'm relatively stingy when it comes to handing out 5 stars but these are well earned. Keep up the good work Wild Flour! The name is also a great choice. :) I'll see you soon! What are you still doing reading this? Go get in line already!

Yelp
What a great stop! I heard so much about this place for years and we were finally able to stop by on our way to Bodega. There will always be a line but it goes fast and it's really worth it. We bought big round sourdough and olive bread with scones. There is a mini garden in the back but don't miss this place. It's a good stop to pick up sourdough before heading to the bay for oysters.
