Wild Grains Bakery - Review - Walthamstow - London - The Infatuation

"Wild Grains began life as aglorified bakery hatchon a Walthamstow industrial estate, and they’ve since moved down the road to sow their oats at Yonder, a climbing gym on the edge of the same industrial estate. It’s a tale as old as time. Or, at least, north east London." - Sinéad Cranna

The 22 Best Bakeries In London - London - The Infatuation

"The thing that’s most wild about this Walthamstow bakery is how often we visit. And it’s because of the potato sourdough. The crust is firm—unlike our resolve around this loaf—and it has a soft inside that rivals anything Tempur is selling. We’re also big fans of the focaccia which comes with a range of toppings baked into the bread—the confit garlic with big sprigs of rosemary is our favourite." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

The 12 Best Restaurants In Walthamstow - London - The Infatuation

"Unlike the small hatch you order from, our order from Wild Grains is always big. We like to get the cardamom bun for the journey home, the confit garlic-topped focaccia for lunch, and a potato loaf for our sandwiches throughout the week. This tiny, takeaway-only spot on an industrial estate is the de facto meeting place for Walthamstow residents at 10am on a Saturday morning." - sinead cranna, jake missing

A very welcome addition to Hookers Road and works well alongside the facilities offered by Yonder climbing and workspace. The potato bread is outstanding. In addition, the council's cycle parking project mgr has recently installed kerbside cycle parking protected with planters outside which is really nice and protects the space from bad parking.

Gochujang roll is nice! But overall: Yonder location feels off - quality, size and taste of pastries has dropped in comparison to the old location. The service could also feel a bit warmer; when you walk in first thing in the morning, it makes such a difference to be smiled at and greeted. It would also be great if the team could warm up pastries on request - feels a low effort ask?

Wild Grains Bakery truly rises above the rest — every loaf is proof that passion and patience make the perfect recipe. Their potato bread is so good it’s practically un-believ-a-ble! The crust is golden, the crumb’s cloud-soft, and the flavour? Pure kneaded perfection. You can tell they don’t just loaf around; every bake is handled with love and skill. I left grinning like I’d won the bread lottery and already yeast-erday I was craving more. Five stars, no question — this place has earned its daily bread and then some!

I usually don’t do bread as it’s not my daily staple, makes me bloated, and am trying to reduce carbs. Wild grains is the only bakery I’m naturally drawn to and willing to break my healthy diet rules. Their bread is just simply delicious and you can taste the love! My favourite is their divine focaccia and expand to baguette, sourdough and cinnamon bun etc - all is great quality and worth every pence

We love this bakery. Bread and pastries are always fresh and delicious. We have tried various sourdough loaves - olive, potato etc. Great to be able to get some fresh bread locally.

Very tasty baked goods. The cheese scones were outstanding, full of cheddar flavour and nicely baked. Similarly, the sausage roll was well filled and the meat seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend.

I like this place very much but unfortunately any queue takes way too long. I was stood here for 10 minutes and just gave up. It’s happened a few times in a row now. I think it’s because they serve coffee too so it holds everything up. If one person could serve coffee and the other pastries I think it might improve the speed. I only wanted one pastry. Next time!

This is the edited review after months of being a regular loyal customer: I love to support local businesses, but i do feel the quality changes: pastries are not always good, size wires a lot, it takes ages to be served even if there are 3 people queue. Some items are simply not tasty — basque cheesecake was hard to eat and I threw a half away. I don’t buy bread, only pastries, and danish was the best you’ve made, and for some reasons quite stable in size and taste.
