The Best Salad Restaurants in Portland, Oregon - Eater Portland

"Chef Dominique Rodriguez runs the kitchen at this Alberta bowl bar, which goes far beyond a few scoops of canned corn and raw broccoli: We’re talking ufra sweet potato, turmeric pickled vegetables, smoky paprika cauliflower, plus heartier add-ons like stewed white beans. In place of dressings like ranch or blue cheese, Wild Thing’s dressings are more like sauces, with options like hazelnut red pepper romesco or green tahini miso. Those who want to leave it to the professionals can opt for the Wild One, mixed greens topped with ginger-y beets, lemony Brussels sprouts, sumac cabbage, and more." - Janey Wong

Wild Thing Is Now Serving Vegetable and Grain Bowls on NE Alberta - Eater Portland

"Wild Thing, developed by Kelsey Glasser and chef Sam Smith, is a vegan, vegetable-focused grain bowl restaurant located on NE Alberta Street. The restaurant offers a variety of bowls with brown rice, mixed greens, or quinoa topped with a selection of roasted, steamed, pickled, and raw vegetables. It distinguishes itself with a smaller array of dialed-in vegetable dishes, almost all of which are cooked. The venue also features its own label of canned wines and a collaboration with Never Coffee on a hazelnut-butter cold brew drink. The restaurant focuses mainly on takeout but has limited indoor seating and plans for a future breakfast menu." - Alex Frane

Tusk Alum Sam Smith and Arden’s Kelsey Glasser Are Opening a Build-Your-Own-Bowl Shop - Eater Portland

"Wild Thing will serve house canned wines, served alongside seasonal roasted and pickled vegetables for salads and grain bowls. When Kelsey Glasser, the owner of Pearl District wine bar and restaurant Arden, first came up with the idea for her vegetable-centric bowl shop Wild Thing, she had one person in mind: Sam Smith, the then-chef de cuisine at Tusk, known for his elaborate meze, salads, and hummus. The shop will have a few warm items like broths and curries, as well as Oregon wines canned special for Wild Thing. The biggest thing we want to get across is that we want to make plants fun or make them accessible to everyone. Wild Thing will open on 1477 NE Alberta, Unit 100, in the Bezel building." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

What a terrific place to eat clean!! Very tasty vegan and GF bowls, GF sandwiches, smoothies and more. Veggies are fresh and not overcooked!! Super friendly and helpful staff and a small but chill atmosphere. I'll be back for more! My favorite bowl so far is The Buffalo Gal.

This place is a sanctuary in the city! The customer service was amazing and it was a breath of fresh air to have such human to human interaction. The food is all high quality and well sourced and nourishing. Even the bathroom is the sweetest little surprise forest jungle. You can tell they really care. My heart, body and mind are full with so much hope and nourishment after eating here 🙂

Wow! Wild Thing PDX had sooo many tasty options! I was very impressed by the generous portion sizes, the wide variety of toppings, and the freshness. The ambience of the restaurant was amazing…so many cute plants and natural light. My mom, who is not vegan, really enjoyed her food as well! Highly recommend getting a protein bowl and the chia buzz pudding. We will definitely be returning!

I'd love to give this place another try, as they have an extensive healthy menu. However, the day I ordered a smoothie bowl there, it came to me a little bit melted and not ice cold. The flavors and ingredients were all great, I just wish it was in a more freezing state when I got the food. Edit: I got it at the restaurant, which is why I am confused about why it was melted.

Just checked out the soft opening and the bowls are delicious! I got a brown rice base with delicata squash, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, and beans with romesco sauce and crunchy rice on top. Each element is seasoned so the final product is super flavorful! I’ll definitely be back, this is a great addition to the neighborhood!
