"Wisconsin isn’t especially well-known for its pizza, but Wild Tomato owner Britton Unkefer (Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio, Water Street Brewery) has defied expectations and successfully leveraged industry knowledge to bring lovely wood-fired pies to Fish Creek and Sister Bay. He also makes liberal use of ingredients from the area’s many small farms on pizzas like the Fun Guy (five types of mushrooms, spinach, caramelized onions). Unkefer also owns Clover & Zot pub in Baileys Harbor." - Naomi Waxman

The pizza was perfect, per usual! I highly recommend the hot honey za, it was a fan favorite in our group! The family style caesar salad was enough to feed a party, and there were only six of us. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great. The majority of employees seemed to be teenagers and there seemed to be a lack of management. Our waitress took a long time to greet us, didn’t check in while we were eating to see how the food was, etc. Yet the food outweighed the lack of service in the end. Hopefully it was just an off night for the staff. We would happily visit again!

Google
Great place to grab a salad and some pizza or other Italian foods. We ended up sharing a large pizza between the 3 of us with a family sized salad and everything was delicious with enough food for everyone in our party, every thing was very good and I think the only complaint was it would be nice to have a bit more cheese in the salad which is very trivial, I would definitely go back in the future!! Also keep in mind if you're heading here it gets very busy later in the day so getting there early or parking out back of the shop are your two best options as it really can fill up tight.

Google
A perfect lunch in a friendly place. The wood fired Hot Honey pizza was incredible. BEST cheese curds ever. The lemonade was refreshing and the service we had was great! Our waiter was from Romania and he was fantastic. Thank you!

Google
If the cheese curds were a bit less salty, this would be the hands down my best one I’ve tried. So crunchy and bit. One of the pizzas come out not cut all the way. Cherry and walnut salad was so good. The garlic bread in my appetizer came out a bit burnt. Coke felt watery. Men’s bathroom is very small.

Google
Not only was the food served and a table ready super fast for us. They did it all while being poured on. It was pouring rain and we still had amazing service. The food was super good the cheese curds are the best ones we had in door county all weekend and we had curds at four other places. 10 out of 10!

Google
It pains me to write this but I do this constructive criticism out of love and hope that the new owners will take the feedback to heart and improve the quality of the Door County institution they have taken over and degraded. I have been coming to WT for many many years, I know exactly how its supposed to taste and after a trip last fall and again over the weekend, its clear this is not the same quality of pizza anymore. I’ll share pics, the first is recent and the second two from 2-3 years ago and while they look similar you can tell the previous are far superior. I went to the Fish Creek location on Sunday and ordered a Margherita, it came out way too fast, like 10 minutes and was barely warm. It had to be just sitting under a heat lamp. The sauce was skimpy and flavorless, the dough was mixed poorly, had too much flour left and was just cardboardy, the cheese did not have any flavor and neither did the basil, there was no sea salt sprinkled on. Just heartbreaking. I used to buy an extra pizza on my way out of town to bring back home. On my next trip I cant see myself going there again. Please undo whatever changes you have made to increase the profit margin. I’m sure its fine for Illinois tourists, but for Wisconsin residents who have been coming for years, we have noticed and won’t be returning until you go back to high quality ingredients.

Google
Stopped in just to try the cheese curds, but the server said they just ran out for the night! I was super bummed after reading all the other reviews about these- so naturally I ordered the second best warm, soft crunchy crusted option: the Parmesan knots. Oh my goodness! So yummy. A must try appetizer. Service was very friendly and quick.

Google
What happened to this place? Out of sausage on a Monday night? Handed me a cheese pizza that was badly burned. Our margarita pizza somehow burned and yet soggy. Served us a salad with tomatoes that were darn near frozen. Apparently it’s under new ownership and it’s a mess. Super bummer. We won’t be back.

Nabila M.

Yelp
We came here for pizza since it's located across the campground. We were the first ones inside the restaurant at the time. Looks like staff was sort of rushing to get things settled around there but we ended up ordering the parmesan "knots" which were not knots. They just fried pieces of dough and topped it off with Parmesan so that was disappointing. I looked at other photos and what we had were definitely not knots. As for pizza we went with a Hawaiian pizza. It was good but not the best. Definitely huge slices, lots of cheese and wish the ham was caramelized a bit instead of it being cubed raw ham on top? I think they could have done a better job. Unfortunately no pics because we were too hungry! Would we come back? If camping here again i think i would give them a second chance.

Yelp
We had a great carry out experience at this location during our visit to the area. We had searched vegan on Yelp knowing that I had to be dairy free. I loved seeing this pizza place pop up as an option because they offer vegan cheese toppings. They also have a great selection of salad! We ordered a vegan margarita, pizza and paired it with the cherry pecan chicken salad. The salad was especially delicious! They have a handful of picnic benches back by the carry out shelter behind the dining building. It's quite the smart set up and they are very busy on the weekends. There is another location in one of the neighboring villages in case you want to try both of their spots :-) Picnic area also has a small bar with some local beers and ciders.

Yelp
This is one of the few places we have been in door county that was completely not kid friendly. The kids would not eat the kids mac and cheese. The service was awful, took about 20 minutes to get the attention of the server to get the check and boxes. The pizza we had was so spicy it was uneditable and there was an ingredient not listed that give me an allergic reaction. Complete waste of a dinner.

Cathi L.

Yelp
Great place for the wood fire pizza. The sauce was the biggest winner here. We went for lunch and the service as kind and fast. A great place to check out.

Terry E.

Yelp
Highly recommend this pizza place! Fun atmosphere (we could watch the pizza guys tossing the crusts in air) excellent service and most importantly the food was delicious. Fire oven cooked pizza was scrumptious we got the DLux and I loved the sauce- flavorful but not over the top. We also had the bread basket which was a very generous portion of a fun variety of different breads, flatbreads, garlic rolls, cheesy rolls and pizza crust puffs. There were just 2 of us so we brought a bunch home but so fun to try all. Cannot wait to return to Door County to go again!!

Lefai K.

Yelp
Had to come here based on the many recommendations from Yelp, and I left here loving the pizza. Probably one of the best pizzas I've had in a really long time, which may not say much, as I don't really eat pizza that much. But, it was a fantastic pizza. They use a wood-burning oven which is THE best way to cook a pizza. The dining area is somewhat limited, with a few tables and chairs, if I had to guess, probably no more than 30-people can fit in there. We ended up eating at the bar, which from what I can tell, offer several beers on tap. The server was great. We ordered, from her recommendation: The D-LUX pizza. It had sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, red and green peppers with extra cheese. Get the small for $23 or the large for $27. Like I mentioned, one of the best pizzas I ever had. The ingredients were great, cheese creamy, and the crust fluffy. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located out the door, go toward the back of the restaurant. There is a single-person men's and women's bathroom. One of the not-so-nice bathrooms I've been at, considering I frequent Chinatown bathrooms. The toilet was so short, I'm so glad I didn't have to do a #2. Dimly-lit, but it got the job. Sit or squat? Squat.

Adam R.

Yelp
Great food. Great Service. Get the Wood-Fired Bread Basket, it's worth it! We will be back!

Morgan G.

Yelp
Super yummy pizza, the garlic knots are super addictive, and the spiked hibiscus lemonade is very good. I love the pesto sausage pizza. Usually fast service even when there's a lot of customers. It's a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. Didn't get a picture because I was focused on my food

Tracy G.

Yelp
The plates were filthy - there was dried food on 4 of the plates we were given. The pizza was okay. The cheese curds were very greasy like they weren't drained. The salad was decent but they forgot to serve the salad until 10 minutes after they brought the pizza. Also, there was a loud hot rod type of car that went back and forth several times in the parking lot and was speeding way too fast (kid got out and went into the back so was an employee). I would skip the Wild Tomato in Fish Creek. We have been to the one in Sister Bay and it was much better and cleaner.

Michael G.

Yelp
Who knew that going to a pizza place would be your best option in Sisters Bay for GREAT cheese curds? I have enjoyed many a cheese curd in my day, and the curds here are at the top! they melt in your mouth! Oh, yea the pizza is pretty good too! they have great outdoor seating and a nice staff!

Michael F.

Yelp
Veggies weren't cooked. Cheese barely melted. So called "woodfire crust" was barely browned, not crisp at all. Sausage needs an upgrade. Pepperoni flavor was OK. Wild Tomato" was more "Mild Tomato". Total lack of flavor. UGH!

Patti K.

Yelp
We ate dinner here last week with a friend. Our pizzas were fabulous. Hubby ordered a meat pizza and I ordered a vegan pizza. We loved them and look forward to another visit before we head home next week.

Sydney H.

Yelp
This is hands down the best pizza in all of Door County. My family visits Fish, Creek every year & I make them go with me every year because I love it so much. They have a few different locations around the area, so if you pass one definitely stop in! They have different combinations of pizzas you can't find anywhere else. My favorite is the fungi, but last summer they also had one with cheese curds on top I wanted to try. Great atmosphere and amazing food. A must try while in Door County!!!

Paige H.

Yelp
I've heard the hype for Wild Tomato and had to try it for myself! The place was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon, which is always a good sign. Thankfully, we were able to order beer while we waited for an outdoor table. They've got a great tap list! They also have a good-sized parking lot, so we didn't have to deal with street parking. We ordered two pizzas. The Fun Guy was at the top of our list. Five types of mushrooms! It was excellent. My group agreed this one is a must-have if you're a fan of mushrooms. The cream sauce was the perfect pairing. We also tried The Paloma. Shrimp on pizza? Very intriguing. Unfortunately, this one fell flat. My group felt like it was missing something. We doctored it up with some red pepper flakes and salt. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't get it again. All in all, this place has solid pizza. Check it out!

Jeff H.

Yelp
Had my family here in Fish Creek for dinner. There was a wait but it was a beautiful winter evening and wasn't to cold outside while we waited. The inside seating is small thus the wait. The pizzas were excellent! We had four different kinds. The staff were friendly and attentive and we had a good time.

Tifanie T.

Yelp
I have been here twice now and have had great food both times. I got the veggie pizza and subbed traditional mozzarella instead of the goat cheese and it was delicious. The waitress was very friendly but food was a touch slow in coming. I think our order may not have been put in right away as other tables weren't having the same issue. That being said, it was a nice summer day with the big door open so it wasn't a big deal. Place is cute and clean and I love the outdoor seating options.

Sid B.

Yelp
A great pizza joint , the bread basket is something you wouldn't necessarily brag about but this one is worth it , their marinara sauce is some of the best I've ever tasted . Opens at 5:00 and by 5:30 it was a 30 minute wait , not a large place, you can watch the pizzas being put in the wood fired oven ,and occasionally the chef puts on a little show. Nice size patio for seating , can't imagine this place on a raining day what kind of wait that would be

Brenda T.

Yelp
Always a good bet. Big crowd and the outdoor seating was just too cold to stay. We took the pizza to go and the server kindly brought it to us boxed.

Puja B.

Yelp
Easily the best pizza in Door County. We love the vibe of the place, the local beer, the extremely good wood fired pizza. Good topping choice. Good wine/beer selection. Usually pretty busy, but definitely worth the wait! Added bonus is the outdoor area is dog friendly and they often have live music.

Linda B.

Yelp
This is truly a delicious Pizza! It's their sauce. And the generous use of toppings. Every time I gather a group to visit Door County we definitely visit Wild Tomato. It was rated 4 stars because this time the pizzas weren't hot. The cheese wasn't fully melted. I need my cooked food served hot, all the time everywhere. This time we ordered 2 pizzas, both were luck warm, even though I had requested mine extra toasted on top. I sent mine back & even then not hot. I kept it and reminded myself to stress the need for HOT next time. Still the best pizza I've had in a long time.

Joyce L.

Yelp
On our first night in Fish Creek, we looked for a restaurant and came across Wild Tomato. Since there aren't many restaurants to choose from in the first place, it wasn't hard to decide on this place. First off, we completely appreciate the honest sign posted outside that due to the pandemic, the restaurant is short-staffed so the wait may be longer than usual. While it's often implicated this is the case, the sign does give customers more awareness of the situation instead of complaining about the prolonged wait time. We ordered the fried cheese curds and the D Lux pizza and we were not disappointed. The cheese curds were SO good--in fact, I found them to be more enjoyable than the pizza itself. The pizza was also fairly delicious but it wasn't mind-blowing (hence the minus 1 star). I think the specialty pizzas would have tasted more special, such as the Al Pastor pizza they had going on. I also want to comment that this is a family restaurant, so it was cute to see the different family members working together to make their customers happy. There were so many takeout orders, in addition to the dine-in customers, so the restaurant is very popular! I'm glad to have tried this place out while in Door county, but I'm not sure if I'll go again unless we were starving with no where else to go at night!

Molly W.

Yelp
Always always always get the Mac. It will exceed expectations. Fast service. Always a stop on our trips to door county. Food is great and the patio is even better. Great ambiance for an outdoor pizza night.

Alicia M.

Yelp
We had "the fun guy" which is 5 delicious kinds of sautéed mushrooms on a delicious garlic cream sauce. Highly recommend this pizza and this place. Staff is friendly and efficient

Abigail H.

Yelp
10/10. I LOVED it. The guy throwing the pizzas was crazy fun to talk to and the service was lovely. The food was even better and I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone. The people here were friendly. The wait is totally worth it. Live this place

Chuck Z.

Yelp
The pizza we ordered for takeout was good, very cheesy, which I like, and the crust was good, which my wife enjoyed. There was only one person serving for both takeout and the bar, so I had to wait in line for several minutes. Since it was a takeout order, I have no opinion about the ambiance.

Dusk D.

Yelp
Not your average pizza joint. The woodfire pizzas here are delicious. We tried an italian pizza with some great spice and kick to it. Super friendly staff, and a great outdoor seating area with plenty of room and heaters to warm you up. Excellent beer selection too!

Anthony R.

Yelp
Fabulous it's a real treasure ‍‍.!!! Great service, excellent food, and talk about ambiance just plain awesome

Jen G.

Yelp
Disappointing pizzas. Very bland tasting. Sauce tasted like tomato paste. Toppings were minimal. Crust was less than desirable. Go elsewhere. Pricey pizzas and have had much better in the area. I'm not impressed

Brandi J.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here while visiting and had our Great Dane puppy with us. The staff was super friendly and welcoming to not only us, but to our puppy! Our waiter was amazing and very attentive. The food came quick and was absolutely delicious! This is somewhere we will definitely come back to if we are in the area again!

Linda R.

Yelp
Disappointing considering I heard about this place on a podcast from a local. We were told there would be a wait upon arrival, but after new people passed by us we went to check on the time for waiting and were immediately sat outside on a rainy day. Wine was average, pizza was fresh, but average.

Aric B.

Yelp
The D-Lux is our go to pizza. I like how they have the box you can use as plates and also store in a smaller space which makes eating at the room / reheating it simple. They have fresh veggies and tasty meats. Sometimes the Fish Creek one is super busy so also look at ordering from Sister Bay if you are between them.

Sasa T.

Yelp
So good! Now you are going to wait a while. And the wine was expensive. But, if you are a beer person, this is your spot. Pizza was really good. Garlic knots were even better. It's worth the stop.

Jen C.

Yelp
Pizza was delish. Sit outside if you can because inside the place is warm due to the oven. Waitress was nice. Being that it is a tourist town, be ready for a longer wait on the weekends.

Margaret O.

Yelp
We visit the Wild Tomato every time we are in Door County. We love that they are a small business and the food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and pleasant even when stressed and busy. They are always super busy but give a realistic time frame for orders. This time our pizza crust was burnt, very disappointing after waiting almost 2 hours for our food but definitely an anomaly since we have never had this happen before. We will go back again but hope the pizza isn't burnt.

Joshua H.

Yelp
Great food overall, happy I got to experience this door county staple! Unfortunately, I don't think it was worth the wait of 45 minutes on a Monday night. All of the food was good, and the chicken tenders were my favorite part. Unfortunately, waitress was mid :( she said water refills would come in two minutes but they came in 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Hopefully this isn't a common occurrence. There was also a 2.75% card surcharge we weren't informed of until the check came. They had good music though!

Linda V.

Yelp
I did not bring my phone for pictures but this place was great! I ordered a salad with candied pecans, dried cherries and goat cheese on mixed greens ($13)...1st it was huge and full of pecans and cherries...very impressed! The pizza comes out quick; we ordered a small and we had to take with us half bec of the huge salads! Very popular place snd everyone is hustling but you'll wait!

Kim W.

Yelp
Pizza was excellent. The patio is cute and has plenty of shade if you're trying to stay out of the sun. Our server was Sydney and she was wonderful. Would definitely recommend this place.

Bonnie C.

Yelp
Had looked forward to stopping in for lunch past few drives by. That's done. Service was best part of experience - quick and attentive. (There were only two other tables occupied.) Ambiance, not so much. Way too chilly on a cold winter's day. Half-dozen tables in a small, pretty much bare, area. Little bar with 2-3 barstools. Pizza was mediocre. "Wood Fired," but crust wasn't even browned, let alone showing even a bit of char. Barely any sauce, not many vegetables for a veggie pizza. And they were out of non-dairy cheese. Not worth the $26+ by any means.

Maria T.

Yelp
We were vacationing in Fish Creek. Due to Covid, we were looking for takeout dinner and decided to give Wild Tomato a try. Glad we did. Their Margherita Pizza was delicious. Hubbie thought the crust could be crisper but I liked it just fine. Perfect amounts of ingredients. We also added sausage. Yum! Other: The small sized pizza was perfect for two. I liked that carry out was in a separate building in the back.

Marlene S.

Yelp
Pizza was not good. Not much ingredients or taste. It's gotten worse. Bread good drinks great. Service good

Christine B.

Yelp
Just had the Donation Creation for April. Superb! They have gluten free crust that's acceptable. We love this place and eat there every trip we make to Door County.

Hannah C.

Yelp
If I could describe tonight's dinner in one word, I would say this: it SLAYED!!!! The food was scrumptious, waiters were attentive, and even when disaster struck (like my younger cousin spilling his 7-Up for the third time this weekend), they were nothing but helpful with supplying us with an abundance of napkins. However, I will say, my family and I were THIRSTY!!!! We had just returned from a long day of goat yoga and yah girls were parched, and I wish we could've had a tiny bit more agua. But overall, I'd say this place is definitely worth visiting if you are a pizza lover PSA: the waiter did look like Joel McHale

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This was my first Wild Tomato pizza experience! We went during the lunch hour and it was fairly busy but we were seated immediately. We chose outdoor patio seating but they have indoor too. The service was good and the server was friendly. They have specialty pizzas or build your own and appetizers to start you off. A small pizza can definitely feed two people. I appreciate the puffy crust and the red sauce is probably one of my favorite sauces I've had! Wild Tomato is a must in fish creek!

Sarah B.

Yelp
We ate at a table outside. Service was very fast and food was great. We loved the bread platter with dips.

Landon P.

Yelp
The food is amazing, but when we came in the waitress was all mad and did not bring waters or anything we asked for except food. The atmosphere was okay but the food was great.

Brittani S.

Yelp
Awesome and yummy pizza! Visited in the winter so we were only inside but seems like a cool place to get pizza in the summer as well. Definitely a good spot for pizza!Sausage and Pesto Pizza

Bri B.

Yelp
Atmosphere: Great outdoor seating area for the summer. The inside maybe had 5 to 8 tables, so I can imagine this place gets slammed pretty quick. The bathrooms are outside, so if you need to use the bathroom in winter, you are going to be taking a nice long walk. Service: Very friendly server who was passionate about what he does. We always had water in our glasses and our food came out really quickly. Food: Um wow. The food was just fantastic. I had an amazing salad and I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THE BREAD BASKET ENOUGH. No matter what you do, get that bread basket, it is worth every penny. All of the ingredients were fresh and the group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I hope to make another stop here soon, in the meantime I'll be dreaming about that bread basket.

Graham D.

Yelp
Used to work here in the summer of 2020 as a host, and it's a great place to be for anybody who enjoys good food and friendly staff from all over the world. Britt is a solid guy and I know he is going to continue to do great things for the County.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Fabulous pizza! We went for brunch and were seated immediately with food served very quickly. Will absolutely come back to eat here for lunch again.

Lynette P.

Yelp
Pizza was excellent. We ate in Fish Creek. Highly recommend! Service was friendly and prompt also!
