The Best New Brunches in Denver | Eater Denver

"An airy, pastel-hued Berkeley space sets the tone for the rise-and-shine repertoire of Lydie Lovett of Chicken Rebel fame, served Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to featuring her signature fried bird in various forms, the menu emits California vibes via dishes like the wild-caught crab cake Benedict; the “fancy breakfast pizza” topped with asiago, pancetta, arugula, lemon-basil dressing, and fried eggs; the Baja breakfast burrito stuffed with carne asada, eggs, cheddar, guacamole, fries, and jalapeño crema; and the portobello mushroom burger with red-pepper coulis and whipped goat cheese. Carafes of rosé sangria match the mood." - Ruth Tobias

Service was extremely slow to start and took a good 10+ minutes to even get water. The waiter seemed new and hardly knew the menu, which is fine, but the confusion on his face over and over again was the problem. The low rating really comes in for the food. My husband received his food 5 to 10 minutes before I received my food, and there was no explanation as to where it was. When we received the food, my burrito was a soggy mess as if it had been sitting in the back for a while. His French toast was super basic like we could’ve made it at home and was just OK. The icing on the cake was the scrambled eggs, they were completely burnt. I was shocked that they served scrambled eggs like that when they’re so easy to remake. To say the least, we ate very little and decided we would never come back. We got two tiny mocktails, scrambled eggs, a burrito with no sides, and French toast and it was over $60.

Awesome food, drink and menu selections. It was very busy for Saturday brunch and wait staff was a little overwhelmed but they made up for it with their friendliness. Cute spot that I will definitely visit again.

Went here for brunch and it ... Wasn't very good. Firstly, the service was great, everyone was friendly! Unfortunately, service alone doesn't make a good restaurant. Our water tasted like it was scooped out of the kitchen sink after washing dishes. Normally I stick with water but decided to get the horchatta because the water was NASTY. The promise of good chicken and waffles was there but not delivered. The chicken was great but the waffle was lack luster and had the texture of a stale toasted waffle from a bag. Managed to be gritty somehow, like it wasn't cooked all the way through. The decor was reminiscent of a those "luxury" apartments that popup all over town. I think that description fits this place. This is the fast built luxury apartment that is overpriced for the actual quality you are getting. The millennial grey of brunch spots.

We have been trying to visit this place for a while, and now I am hooked. First of all, let's start with the service. Maggie was handling SO many tables when we cozied up to the bar, but it was still perfect service. Their bottomless is $23, and that is reasonable. Maggie, thanks. We had to go home and clean, and although our initial cleaning was fun, we then quit on it. Tomorrow sounds good. No sports on the TV, so don't go for that, but when you drink bottomless watching San Diego PB waves at a bar owned by a SD owner, what are the complaints? Wife said the shrimp and grits were the best she has had in years, and I will go to bat and say the crabcake sandwich with egg might have been the best crabcake anything outside of Maryland or Maine. Energy and music were great, and unique. You will go there and probably Shazam some songs. Boom. Bottled hot sauce, and I hope the kitchen reads this and creates some SD hot sauce that blows my mind next time. VERY minor complaints. Can't wait to try the burrito and burger. Definitely recommend and see you there. ADDITIONAL VISIT INFO: We went again for brunch on a weekend (Memorial Day weekend). I remembered that I got the magical crabcake sandwich (especially for a landlocked state), so I wanted to try something else. I still was in a crab mood and got the crabcake Benny. Jessie was running solo, and although we were one of the first three tables in there, she was handling about 8-9 when we left. She still was efficient, and I think they pulled someone from back of house to help. I still felt like every conversation with Jessie didn't indicate she had 1000 other things to do. Fun music in the background, and it made the place very energetic. Fun pink chairs too! The wife got the surf and turf burrito, and it was solid. I think it was a push on that day as to who got the better meal. The homemade chips that her burrito came with were MAGICAL. I stole a bunch of hers. My Benny was awesome, and wherever they are sourcing their crab, it is working. The potatoes that came with it were honestly good on their own, although I always drench mine with Hollandaise and hot sauce. I always LOVE when a place has a house hot sauce, they had it, and it delivered. Great stuff for us hot sauce folks. There was a $15 bottomless special, so the wife got that. Great deal, and it is still a decent deal at its normal price of $24. The drink itself wasn't her favorite, but still great value. My main recommendations would be more staff on each of our visits, and to invest in surround sound, so one table doesn't have the speaker next to them. Also, deliver the iced tea in a bigger glass for less refills. Next on my list here is the allegedly popular Baja burrito, I highly recommend, still a five, and see you there...

Had brunch this past Sunday at Wilde and everything was wonderful. The ambiance is cute, airy and makes you feel like you’re on the beach in Cali. The food was flavorful, fresh and delicious. Ordered the Chicken and Waffles, so good! The chicken was thinly cut, crispy and waffle was perfect. They’re super accommodating and support local non profits. Will come again!

My husband and I came in for brunch and loved it! I will say I think they were understaffed today so they deserve gold stars for keeping it moving like they did. My husband said if he comes back (which we will!) he will ask for extra pickled jalapeños on his carne asada burrito. He said they didn’t put enough on. But it was still fantastic. I got the chicken wrap and it was TO DIE FOR. I wish they would have offered ketchup with my fries but regardless they slapped. The drinks were great - my husband wishes the watermelon agua Fresca had another fruit with it because the watermelon wasn’t enough. He said he’d probably pass next time! The blueberry bliss was amazing and would totally get it again!! The elote bites were not our faves. I wish they just served regular elote. Overall, we were VERY pleased with our meal!!!!

Tasty, affordable brunch spot with really interesting drinks. Currently have a Grinch mimosa and an old school random cocktail called Tanqueray Almond for their holiday specials, both of which were expertly mixed and tasty. The crab cake benny was excellent, healthy amounts of crab and crispy, well-seasoned potatoes. My husband had the Nashville burrito which has the crispiest, wonderfully seasoned chicken enrobed in chipotle mayo. We’ll absolutely be back!

We ate here for brunch this morning and the food was phenomenal! We split the breakfast pizza and french toast. The breakfast pizza was so yummy, the crust and dough were fluffy and I savored every bite. The only thing I would change is maybe a crumbled sausage for a meat instead of bacon (I’m just not a big bacon fan). The french toast though… I am not much of a sweets person but I could eat this every single day and not get sick of it. Not overly sweet and had some crunch, so so good. The service was lacking a bit. They’re still trying to find their groove so give them a little grace as they figure it out! They could benefit from an extra server or host/busser and I’d recommend opening earlier! I’m so excited to have this place in the neighborhood, it’s absolutely worth it and I’ll be back for sure.

Yelp
Beautiful new(er) brunch spot in The Highlands! I met an elementary school friend who was in town visiting with a few of her other friends for brunch with my one year old. The table decided to share the rose sangria carafe and some stuffed churros. Both were the perfect way to start our meal. My daughter and I split the crab cake Benedict. The Benedict came packed with crab which was a pleasant surprise. They also loaded me up with all the potatoes which my little one was thrilled with! The staff were friendly but not the most attentive as we had to ask for water and our checks after waiting quite awhile.

Yelp
We tried Wilde yesterday for brunch and had a really good experience! The vibe is California coastal, with colorful decor and lots of live plants. We came around 2pm on a Sunday and there was no wait. We ordered a breakfast pizza and a vegan breakfast burrito. The breakfast pizza was incredibly good -10/10- with really fluffy crust. I would come back here just for the pizza! The vegan breakfast burrito had meatless chorizo, just egg, and fries inside (very cali). The burrito was missing guacamole and I was disappointed that they gave like five chips as a side (see pic). The flavor of the vegan burrito was great though! I would totally take vegan friends here to eat. We also spilt a carafe of rose sangria, which was a generous portion for 2 but a good value at $21. Overall a pretty space and a good experience- I would visit again. However, I think they can tighten up their menu a bit to make sure orders are accurate and appropriately portioned.

Yelp
Wilde has quickly become my new favorite brunch spot in Denver. The food is 100%! Try the chicken and waffles, fish tacos and Caliquiles! I love the ambience, taking me back to beautiful San Diego!

Yelp
Stopped in for a Sunday brunch at the Wilde. The space is extremely cute and vibey, however they are clearly working through some pains. There were three people working when we showed up and we sat at the bar. We waited 20/25 minutes for our drinks - it seemed like possibly a manager didn't show up and it was difficult to decide who was taking charge. We also did see someone behind the bar take dirty glasses and pour a drink in them. My only suggestion would be implement a few processes so that the operating flow works better. Let tell you, though, do NOT change the menu. The food I ordered was 10/10!!!! I was extremely impressed and still would go back and order more!

Yelp
We showed up right as they opened on a Sunday morning. Thank goodness we did because they filled up quickly. The restaurant is welcoming and bright, and the decor is really cute. To start with, the table shared the Pumpkin Pecan Stuffed French Toast. Holy freaking moly. Y'all, do not miss out on this. It is freaking yum. I had drip coffee and the Wilde Crab Cake Sandwich. My sandwich was amazing. The potatoes that came with were pretty basic. But the crab cake was so lovely, flavorful, well battered and perfectly crisp. I would come back for that sandwich again and again. I can see that they are a bit understaffed. Understandable as they are only about a month old (and no one wants to work anymore so there's that). I hope customers give some grace during this period as they are figuring things out.

Yelp
A group of 5 of us got there right at 10 on a Sunday and we were seated right away. It's a cute place and our server was very friendly. I got the pumpkin French toast and loved it! My friend got the breakfast pizza which also looked great, so I'll have to come back for that.

Yelp
I honestly had high high hopes for this place after all of the hype on social media about how great it is. Maybe I just went on a horrible day. I went with some girlfriends for brunch (we go to a different brunch place each month to try new restaurants) and heard this place was the new hot place to go, so we made a reservation. We arrived right on time and couldn't get in the building. The front door was literally locked. With people in it. Everyone just staring at us as we try pulling on the door, go around the side, can't find another entrance. It was quite embarrassing. Finally someone that worked there came over and unlocked the door for us and let us in. No greeting. No smile even. Just walked away after opening the door. We stood there for about close to 5 minutes waiting to see about being seated. No one asked if we had a reservation or even how many we had for the table. Just pointed at the table for us to sit at. At this time I was already pretty irritated and hoped that the service, food and cocktails would make up for that mess of a start. Sadly it did not. We waited quite a while for the server to come by and I feel like they were definitely understaffed. I understand that can be tough, but it was affecting everything else. The attitudes of how they were handling the situation really made the bright fun decor seem sad and frustrated. A few things to note. 1. They were out of espresso. 2. Had no coffee made and took literally 45 minutes to make some. 3. Ran out of ketchup and the reaction when we asked for more was a rude remark on her breath about being out. My food was good, but nothing that I would go back for. Maybe this is because the place is new but other social media reviews seem to be great, so maybe it was just my experience.

Yelp
Everything was just about perfect! We went for brunch and split crab cake Benedict's, power bowl and vegan burrito. All weee yummy, the side of crispy potatoes were the best potatoes all of us have had in recent memory. The drinks were varied and delicious as well. Service was great and even with the place getting busy, did not ever feel rushed.

Yelp
Had Saturday brunch here with my son's girlfriend. This is such a cute place. Definitely great for small group of ladies gathering for brunch. Service was great. The menu looks awesome too. I totally love the vibe here. I started out with a mocking bird and she got a coffee with cream and sugar. The mocking bird was refreshing and delicious. She ordered the chicken and waffles and I ordered the French toast with sides of bacon and crispy potatoes. Everything came out fresh, hot, and scrumptious. I tasted a little bit of her chicken and waffles and they were amazing. I've never had cornbread waffles. If you love cornbread, you should definitely try this entree or at least order it as a side. My stuffed French toast was wonderful and I finished every bit of it! Lol I was also hungry too. I did finished the bacon and half of the crispy potatoes. The sides were cooked perfectly and not dried. I definitely will come back to this place!

Yelp
Came for brunch on 3/16. There was one waiter working the entire restaurant (he was super kind!) and timing was pretty slow. They were also out of many of the food/drink options on the menu (vodka, sausage). Seemed like the restaurant was brand new, but it's been open for several months. We sent back the avocado toast as it looked super unappealing- looked like prepackaged avocado spread and pieces of Dave's killer bread toast. The burrito however was great. All in all, they need some practice.

Ann G.

Yelp
Got a breakfast burrito to go and WOW. Such a solid Cali burrito. Best in Denver area I have ever had hands down. Also the staff was SO incredible. Could not recommend this place more.

Ashley S.

Yelp
This place has so much potential, great menu, cute inside but first and foremost the staff has no clue how to work together. We waited about 5+ minutes before anyone even greeted us to sit and the people waiting without anyone checking in only continued to grow while we were there. Everyone working seemed completely overwhelmed and it translated to the service and you can tell all the customers felt it and were annoyed. The staff had no clear roles and reasonability and the efficiency was not there. We weren't once asked how the food was or if we needed more coffee or water. The bartender seemed very inexperienced and annoyed, almost all the drinks we saw go out were shorted on alcohol. They didn't have enough coffee cups to even go around. The food was overall good and you can tell chef is working super hard but the Nashville hot chicken burrito had no Nashville hot sauce what so ever, and came with 5 chips. Hoping this place can make some changes as it has so much potential and a great menu.

Yelp
Went there for happy hour. Best deal around $8.00 cocktails and great value on small plates. Will definitely be looking back. Now open till 7:00.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Great food and service, and the patio is dog friendly! Baja breakfast burrito was a favorite as well as the elote bites.

Louis L.

Yelp
Wilde had great food and even better service. The only reason I did not give five stars is that they were so short staffed. Two women worked so damn hard to keep things moving for the customers. And I got to believe the kitchen staff was crushing it too. The ambiance is good and I hope they can add a more cohesiveness. For example, some of the paintings were remarkably small of the space on the wall.

Paige S.

Yelp
Went there for Sunday brunch and it was a great choice! There was no wait and the food & service were great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I came for brunch and cocktails with a friend. Everything was amazing and Jess was the best server! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Went for brunch. Food, service, and ambience were great! 10/10 will be back. Staff was friendly, the owner/chef knows what's up!

Yelp
We had brunch there around 11 on a Saturday and had a great time! The decor was lovely and everything we ate was delicious with a great diverse menu and had great service. Highly recommend!
