9 Best New Restaurants in Asheville Right Now | Eater Carolinas

"It was go, then stop, then go again, and just in time to catch the first breath of spring, Wildwood Still is up — on the 7th floor of the new Moxy Hotel — and running. The bar stocks over 150 whiskeys and bourbons from distilleries worldwide, national brands and products from local makers Oak and Grist, Chemist Spirits, and Two Trees Distilling Co. Several signature cocktails are based on those spirits, and one of three nitro draft cocktails is the Bourbon Barrel Buzz — Buffalo Trace bourbon, toasted hazelnut, coffee liqueur, cold brew, demerara, and nutmeg. Asian-inspired small plates include wagyu sliders on Japanese milk buns, hamachi crudo, pork gyoza, kabocha gnocchi, and plenty of sizzle from the Robata grill — har siu pork ribs, ora king salmon, chargrilled oysters, and local mushrooms with barrel-aged shoyu." - Kay West

I made the reservation earlier in the week and once I got to the hotel, I loved being able to just go upstairs for dinner. I was seated immediately and had the most beautiful view of the mountains. It was absolutely beautiful and very low key. My waiter, Ryan, was such a sweet person and gave great recommendations and was consistent with checking in on me. I will admit, I was skeptical on the chicken, but it was absolutely delicious! The calamari and shrimp was seasoned well, and I was able to not have spice. I wanted to continue the experience, so I ordered the carrot cake, and surprisingly, it was amazing with the sauce. The drink was absolutely great and flavorful that I ended up getting 2. Soon after I was done with my meal, I was ready to shower and go to bed. If you’re ever in town and wanting a great meal, this is the place to try! 10/10 I recommend!

Tucked inside the Moxy hotel 🏨✨, this place feels like a stylish little surprise once you step in. Parking is straightforward with a paid garage nearby 🚗💳, just note the restaurant does not validate. It is a great fit for small to medium groups 👯‍♀️🍽️, with a decorative interior and elevated views from most seats that instantly change the perspective 🌆👀. The menu leans non traditional and invites a bit of exploration, which we appreciated 😊📖. Craft cocktails shine with creative ingredients and unexpected pairings 🍸🌿 if you’re into that, and there is also a solid spirits list for anyone who prefers familiar pours 🥃👌. Food wise, the stuffed chicken wings were a standout 😍🔥, the lamb shank was fall apart tender but could have used more flavor depth, and the sea bass with bok choy 🥬 was absolutely phenomenal 🌟🐟. A quick heads up that the carrot cake is not your classic version, so go in curious 🍰🤔. The glassware is beautiful ✨🍸 and art installations throughout add visual interest at every turn 🎨📸. Raea was a lovely server who made thoughtful recommendations and stayed attentive, with great support from Yessenia and Ryan as well 🙌😊. We really enjoyed the overall vibe, the views, and the experience, and it felt like a refreshing break from eye level living 😌🌃. Definitely check it out, I’d recommend it 👍✨.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wildwood Still in Asheville is an absolute gem and a true locals’ spot! From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a great experience. The food is absolutely delicious — every dish feels fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The drinks are equally impressive, with creative cocktails and a great selection that pair perfectly with the menu. The staff truly makes the place shine — friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Combined with the cozy yet vibrant environment, it’s the perfect spot for a night out, a casual drink, or a special occasion. Highly recommend!

My son and I were traveling through Asheville and stopped in and had an amazing dinner at the bar in this beautiful rooftop restaurant with killer views! Definitely stop into the Wildwood still when visiting Asheville you won’t be disappointed! They’re bourbon/whiskey selection is amazing!

So let me start with the positives: the atmosphere was lovely. The design leaned masculine with browns and blacks, but the touches of greenery softened the space nicely. The views were fantastic from anywhere inside, and especially beautiful from the patio. Our server was kind, helpful, and attentive overall. My friend ordered a small batch flight and really enjoyed both the product and the experience. She also loved her smash burger, though she did wish it came with fries for the price. Now for the less positive side: I ordered the Chilean sea bass marinated in a miso soy sauce. The portion was extremely small, and the texture seemed closer to California white sea bass than the thick, buttery Chilean sea bass I expected. The flavor was fine, but it didn’t quite deliver on the promise of that dish. To their credit, the manager graciously removed it from the bill. I then tried the Caesar salad since I’d heard great things, but it left me underwhelmed as well. For dessert, we shared the chocolate cherry blossom cheesecake. It was tasty, but presentation-wise it was simply a slice of cheesecake - with a side of whipped cream and a drizzle of orange sauce which felt a bit lackluster. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but unfortunately not a great one either.

Google
My fiancé and I chose Wildwood for our anniversary dinner and, unfortunately, it fell flat. The service was genuinely subpar—we actually had to ask for water, which set the tone early. Poor service can sometimes be forgiven if the food delivers, but that wasn’t the case here. Several dishes had to be sent back, and even the ones we kept were noticeably lacking in flavor and execution. The experience was disappointing and would have felt like a complete waste if not for the Duck Bao Buns, which—credit where it’s due—were absolutely delightful. The skyline view was also a lovely touch, though it couldn’t make up for the overall dining experience.

You have to come see Cindy, Quinn and Luigi!! The curated cocktails and conversation at the bar is unmatched. From traveling to unforgettable eats no table was left unturned. Not to mention, you have to try the chargrilled oysters! 10/10 I highly recommend!

What an amazing experience! We came for my birthday dinner and we were very impressed! The views were magnificent and the staff was so amazing! Our server Malachi was absolutely wonderful! He brought over a sweet birthday treat and card that made my night! The food was also amazing! The calamari?! Sensational! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Can't wait to return to this cozy, welcoming space with a great view! You enter from the street and walk into the hotel and take the elevator up to Wildwood Still. As soon as we left the elevator we were welcomed by staff. We already had dinner, so let the staff know we were just going to have drinks. They sat us in the most cozy, lounge space! The chairs were so comfy and right next to the windows! The drink menu has a great cocktail list. We tried several and all were delicious! Staff were friendly and attentive. We were here when the weather was cold, so didnt get to take advantage of the open windows and outdoor patio space. I cannot say enough positive about this space! It is warm, inviting and has modern decor. My favorite part was that there are tables if you are eating, but the space is so large there are plenty of small lounging areas with modern and cozy chairs. The lighting is perfect and sets the mood! There is also a large bar near the entrance. I walked out to the patio and it has such a great view of Asheville! Plenty of seating and fire pits. It looks like they have tall door/windows that slide open. I would love to come back when the weather is warmer! We had such a nice night here and would definitely return!

Yelp
Wildwood Still at the Moxy Asheville is an absolute gem and easily one of the most exciting meals I've had all year--worthy of every one of the five stars. Perched at the top of the hotel, the restaurant treats you to sweeping mountain views and a front-row seat to sunset while you dine. The space itself is warm and stylishly rustic: great lighting, a striking central fireplace, and a smart-casual vibe that feels effortlessly cool without ever being stuffy. The menu is a brilliant, boundary-pushing love letter to Southern and Asian cuisines, executed with serious skill and creativity. The koji-aged porterhouse is a revelation--deeply flavorful, perfectly cooked, and served with miso-braised collard greens that taste like the world's most sophisticated creamed spinach. The aged ahi tuna "steak" is an equally impressive meat-free option, with a rich, beefy richness that surprised and delighted everyone at the table. Portions are generous, flavors are bold yet perfectly balanced, and every plate feels like it was dreamed up by someone who truly loves to feed people. Desserts are not to be skipped; they're creative, seasonal, and outright incredible. The bar program lives up to the restaurant's reputation with an excellent selection of unique whiskeys and inventive cocktails that pair beautifully with the food. Service throughout the evening was warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed--attentive without ever hovering. For the quality, creativity, and sheer deliciousness on the plate (not to mention those views), the value here is outstanding. This is a special-occasion restaurant that somehow still feels approachable. If you're a food lover with an adventurous palate, or simply someone who appreciates generous portions of brilliantly executed food, put Wildwood Still at the top of your Asheville list. I'm already counting the days until I can go back!

Yelp
Bummer that some people had bad experiences with a newer restaurant in a service town still reeling from Helene. Some grace is still welcomed. Clear that some have never experienced life as a server/bartender/manager. Even clearer some have absurdly silly expectations of any restaurant. Meh. I truly enjoyed my experience. I signed my wife and I up for a tasting event and when that event was cancelled due to the rep being sick, I was immediately contacted and offered a full refund and a complimentary cocktail that we would have received as part of the tasting if we wanted to dine with them that evening. We did. The space is great, nice views of the mountains and some of Asheville's iconic buildings. Upscale and modern, but comfortable. The food was legit. Both types of oysters were excellent - the chilled were the best. The mushrooms were tasty. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and the wilted bok choy was a perfect compliment. My wife's wagyu burger was just right. I didn't love the eggplant dish, but that's probably a bit of me having a tenuous relationship with eggplant. No issues with any of our drinks. They have a great whisk(e)y list. The service was attentive, even though it was obvious our server had most of the tables in the restaurant that evening. She was very friendly throughout. The birthday card and treat were a nice touch. I'm local and I'll be back.

Yelp
Atmosphere was so nice! We sat outside and had a view of the town. Service was good. We ordered the edamame, grilled oysters, pork gyoza, wagyu smash burger and persimmon dessert. For drinks, we had the special "sneaky pete", which had buffalo trace, coffee liqueur and heavy cream, and a glass of Chardonnay. Everything was 10/10, with the exception of the dessert. Just not our pick! We should've gone with the chocolate cake. Overall 9.5/10 spot!

Yelp
Wildwood Still may be one of our new favorites in town. It's on the roof of Moxy which means the views are incredible - go have a drink one night at sunset and I promise you won't be disappointed. Their food is decadent & interesting. The bone marrow topped with Chinese sausage was my favorite dish of the night. Their service is awesome and they're all so knowledgable about the menu so ask them for any and all recommendations!

Yelp
The atmosphere, service and food were delicious. They had some of the best Korean shortrib bbq I have had. Great bourbon collection too!

Yelp
Ambiance: Beautiful and classy rooftop bar overlooking the city and mountains. Wall to ceiling windows that bring in plenty of light. Service: Our server was sprinting back and forth between several tables so it took her a bit to get back to us on several occasions, but that was alright with us since we were not in a hurry. Food: The food took about 20 minutes to get to the table. Appetizers: Gyoza (Pork) and King Salmon Crudo (citrus, cucumber, vidalia onion, macadamia nut, tamari, lime, wonton chips) Both appetizers were delicious, and I'd absolutely order both of them again! Main entree: Chilean sea bass- Really good flavor. I loved the balance the veggies gave to the meal.

Yelp
Edamame- rivals the best I've had. Crudo Scallops Grilled Scallops Sea Bass Tuna The Edamame set the tone, and everything else followed through on the promise. Delicious! The setting on the roof is a great view, Karina was fantastic to have assist with our choices and everything was timed perfectly.

Yelp
4/5 only due to salt content. Too salty for our pallet but delicious overall Friendly staff Knowledgeable bartender - bottles are shelved alphabetically by type Wide selection of Whiskey/Scotch Risotto was delicious. Tofu was crusted with a salt that was unexpected. Vibe was high end but warm

Yelp
Sorry, I just don't get all the hype about Wildwood Still. Rooftop location is OK - nice view of a bunch of apartment buildings and a pool. Drinks were overpriced with weak pours. Service was incredibly slow from the bar (maybe add a couple more bartenders on the weekend?) Food was good, but $13 for 2 Bao Buns - I think not!! It's a tourist joint, so I get the high prices. As a local, I won't be back - too many better values in town to enjoy without the crowds.

Yelp
Y'all, I stumbled upon this gem. Rooftop Asian fusion with a breathtaking view! The food: chef's kiss. The cocktail: fabulous. The Staff: incredible! My server, Malachi: perfect! 1010 out of 10 recommend!

Yelp
3 out of 5 for the ambiance. We went when it was already dark so not much of a view, but the vibe was still nice. Tried the gyoza, which were small for the price and not a lot of individual gyoza to split between two people. I ordered a midnight in Tokyo which was okay, too much ice but looked pretty with whatever made it purple at the bottom. And my fiancé ordered the numbing cocktail which was unique with the tingling sensation. Nice, sophisticated drink to end the night with. Overall seems like a place to chill with friends and talk while enjoying cocktails, can't speak towards the food menu since we only ordered an appetizer.

Yelp
When I come to fancy places I have high hopes but this one failed me. They have one vegan option and hardly can make anything vegan off their menu. I asked the server and she said this tomato dish and I mean it's really really bad. Edamame beans are good though. She also recommended the green tea with ginger and it's okay but it would burn your insides lol. Ambience although is amazing. I don't think I recommend this place if you are vegan or vegetarian.

Yelp
This place has great views and is a lot of fun. The food was absolutely delicious. The only problem was with the wines. I ordered three different wines only to be told they were out of them. Others in our party had the same problem. Finally we found a wine they had but server brought me the wrong wine. They did not charge me for that and eventually brought the wine I ordered. Cocktails were good.

Yelp
This is our second time eating at this restaurant. The first time was on Mother's Day, where our daughter was charged the full price for all nine meals as she made the reservation 2 weeks in advance. She was not notified that they would be charging her full price at that time. The second time we brought 11 people to celebrate a 50th birthday. When we walked in with a small cake we were told there would be a $24 cutting charge. Never in our lives have we experienced that. Then they would not separate checks for the 11 of us and one person was stuck with an $800 check. That doesn't happen in other restaurants. There were a few mixed up orders at our table also. I don't think we'll be back. By the way, we took the cake to a local bar to listen to their bluegrass band and their delightful waitress brought napkins and utensils so we could celebrate with our cake. At NO charge. Do better.

Yelp
The view is great, unfortunately that's all. The vibe is off. The store staff, hostess, waitresses, bartenders seem rushed and bothered. The drink was terrible and I almost just drank it but asked for another. It was just a dirty martini but it tasted like a glass of vermouth. The place was not busy enough for the staff to be so inattentive and bothered. :-/

Wolfgang C.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in during our anniversary weekend to check this place out. We did enjoy the views. We got in around 8pm. Just in time to catch the sunset. Really nice experience. Definitely worth checking out. We ordered the bone marrow and lemongrass shrimp. These were pretty great. I'd definitely recommend those if you stop by. The drink service was pretty terrible though. We ordered their flirting with flames cocktail and a glass of brut rose. It took about 30mins for us to get the drinks. We received and finished all of our food prior to getting our drinks . Our server came up to us after we were waiting for about 20mins and said " Sorry, we're looking for wine glasses". That was a little weird. When our drinks finally came we were already pretty annoyed. The rose was flat and the cocktail just tasted like pineapple juice. We paid our bill and left. Probably not going back. They have some work to do

Yelp
Amazing! Sat at bar for cocktails & apps and the bartenders were delightful and so friendly and knowledgeable! New fav place in Asheville! Such delicious Japanese inspired drinks & food. We're heading back for our night cap (old fashioned is the best i've ever had!). Well decorated mix of woods and finishes make it very welcoming and comfortable too.....amazing mountain vies on 3 sides!
google avatar

Yelp
Great view, excellent food and fantastic service. The duck bao buns were my favorite part of the meal. Out of the 3 deserts we ordered for the table the matcha and olive oil cake was my favorite.
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
Car siu pork ribs Wonderful five spice bbq sauce Fast courtious service Beautiful mountain views
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
The view from the roof is amazing but their cocktails are terrible! Most disgusting Prosecco, cocktails (old fashions!) taste like gasoline. I'd expect a little more from a place that prides themselves on being a bar for whiskey enthusiasts

Asheville H.

Yelp
Beautiful location... Very nice service... Gorgeous views... But quite pricey... Definitely a special occasion spot. I don't know how many locals will make it into the regular rotation.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was very good however our service seemed a bit rushed. We were not even offered a dessert. I also was not offered a second glass of wine. Our entire experience was just over an hour. The views were incredible and everything tasted delicious. I'm willing to give the another try
google avatar

Stacy B.

Yelp
Love and ambiance, plus the view. Our server was a tad bit all over the place. Had to track her down a few times and we only ordered two drinks (old-fashioned and mocktail mojito) and a dessert to share. As great as the Matcha & Olive Oil cake SOUNDS, it was not good. The cake itself was dry like a graham cracker crust, and it was overwhelmingly drenched with the Caramelized White Chocolate. It was rather interesting to say, but it was not enjoyable after two small bites. We did let the server know. All they could offer was another dessert option. We declined because it was rather late and didn't want to add to our wait -- yet we were still charged for the cake.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Incredible view. I had a nice time getting photos outside and relaxing with friends while watching the sunset. Ordered a ton of items with a large group and got to try a bit of most everything. The short rib was delectable and so tender. The duck bao buns were also noteworthy. I think it was the pancatta I had for desert that was purple. I had to refrain from licking the bowl on that one.

Lauren B.

Yelp
The views of the mountains are the best in Asheville paired with great cocktails and food. The duck bao buns are so delicious and the cocktails are too! Last night's sunset was great.

Braeden S.

Yelp
We loved our night out at Wildwood Still!! Our server Malachi was AMAZING. He recommended the new elixir drink it was soooo good. Also just an all around amazing time, the views are breathtaking. Definitely an asheville must! Would come back again. The food was also very tasty.

Courtney P.

Yelp
Views and service were excellent, 5 star on both of those fronts. I'd put the food at 2 star. The bao buns were pretty good. The two mains we got were unremarkable (sea bass) to actually not enjoyable (fish of the day). The dessert was dry and not worth eating.
google avatar

Donna W.

Yelp
Come for the view, stay for the food! Tried apps and cocktails and everything was superb. Special moment when Chef Tisdale introduced himself. No need to head to GPI anymore for world class views. This is my new place!

Ian L.

Yelp
We were guests at the hotel. Made reservations for 6pm. Arrived and then were setted. I didn't get a welcoming feeling from the start. Felt like we were being looked down upon. Didn't see a waitress for 15mins. The only reason one came out is because we had to ask. We put in drink orders and food orders at the same time, because we didn't know if the waitress would come back. Well she never came back. There were very few other dinners in this place. Maybe 6 total tables. After waiting for drinks for 40mins. Got got up to leave. Then the waitress shows up saying sorry. Still with no drinks, appetizers, or meal. So We left and had dinner at The Black Bird. It's just a few doors down from the hotel. They get 5 stars. Very welcoming and kind. Waitress did a wonderful job. And the food was absolutely delicious.

Carly T.

Yelp
ambiance and food are amazing! service friendly and on point as well. my favorite spot in Asheville for sure.
