Yelp
Wildwood Still at the Moxy Asheville is an absolute gem and easily one of the most exciting meals I've had all year--worthy of every one of the five stars.
Perched at the top of the hotel, the restaurant treats you to sweeping mountain views and a front-row seat to sunset while you dine. The space itself is warm and stylishly rustic: great lighting, a striking central fireplace, and a smart-casual vibe that feels effortlessly cool without ever being stuffy.
The menu is a brilliant, boundary-pushing love letter to Southern and Asian cuisines, executed with serious skill and creativity. The koji-aged porterhouse is a revelation--deeply flavorful, perfectly cooked, and served with miso-braised collard greens that taste like the world's most sophisticated creamed spinach. The aged ahi tuna "steak" is an equally impressive meat-free option, with a rich, beefy richness that surprised and delighted everyone at the table. Portions are generous, flavors are bold yet perfectly balanced, and every plate feels like it was dreamed up by someone who truly loves to feed people.
Desserts are not to be skipped; they're creative, seasonal, and outright incredible. The bar program lives up to the restaurant's reputation with an excellent selection of unique whiskeys and inventive cocktails that pair beautifully with the food.
Service throughout the evening was warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed--attentive without ever hovering. For the quality, creativity, and sheer deliciousness on the plate (not to mention those views), the value here is outstanding. This is a special-occasion restaurant that somehow still feels approachable.
If you're a food lover with an adventurous palate, or simply someone who appreciates generous portions of brilliantly executed food, put Wildwood Still at the top of your Asheville list. I'm already counting the days until I can go back!
