"William Jeffrey’s Tavern is adding weekly meat specials and boozy frozen drinks. The restaurant's latest seasonal offering is Billy Jeff’s BBQ, a weekly cookout that includes assorted grill fare, southern-style sides, and frozen drinks. Core entrees range from Carolina-style pulled pork and beer-can chicken to rotating chef’s specials such as pork belly or brisket, with sides like house slaw, grilled corn, and potato salad. Dessert options include a regular root beer float, as well as one made with a milk stout beer. They are also experimenting with boozy Cheerwine popsicles and a liquor-spiked variation on chocolatey Yoohoo." - Warren Rojas

Friendly staff, and plenty of room at the bar on a Saturday night. The Buffalo wings are breaded and fried to a crisp even with the sauce, but the sauce was way too tangy for my preference. We also got the tavern burger (not pictured). It's a huge juicy burger; they didn't cook it to the requested temperature, but it worked out because of how juicy it was. The bartenders high five cocktail was also just okay. It was intended to be an herbal cocktail, but I got more of an antiseptic flavor than anything. The atmosphere is great, with lots of TVs to watch any sport or game show you like. For parking, if you park in the same building as the tavern you can get free parking, but you don't get free parking if you park in the parking garage across the street with Giant.

Google
This place is a wonderful secret treasure. We have enjoyed a daytime date here and family dinner with our young kid. The space accommodates both very well. They have a great selection of beers and super good cocktails. The food is amazing. The old style pub vibe really hit it outta the park for us. The lighting is moody so you may need to use a flashlight if you have a hard time reading in low light but we had no trouble.

Google
Great place to hold an office party!! The food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. Love having the fireplaces - they add a lot to the atmosphere.

Google
Loved the beer options, the ahi tuna nachos plate, the cosmo and the service that this place offers! Whenever I travel to Arlington, this is one of the spots I look forward to. Wish I could come more often, as I noticed that once you become a regular (which I cannot because I do not live there) they immediately know what you are ordering and you become familiar with one another!

Google
This place is just amazing. I keep coming back every time in in Arlington. Great brunch spot with very reasonable prices. Food is excellent and drinks are great!

Google
Nice place with a good menu and plenty of draft beer choices. Lots of space at the bar, and some tall tops and table seating as well. Had the daily special brisket sandwich, it was great, the fries were terrific, hand cut and crispy. Wish I'd been there at happy hour instead of lunch to get a better feel for the place. 3 hours validated parking as well.

Google
This is the place to be! The new menu choices are like little surprises for your taste buds—always hot & fresh! The service? It’s like catching up with an old friend who just happens to bring you amazing food. Never disappointed, always delighted!

We have been here several times and it is always good. We were here on Saturday during brunch. I'm not a big fan of brunch in general because I don't like a lot of eggs, but if you do there are a lot of great options. Unfortunately, you can't order off of the regular menu during brunch, but I understand why they do that. I had the Ruben which was delicious and my wife had the chicken sandwich mildly blackened with cheese and fries. I also should mention that I got the side salad with ranch and the ranch was very very good. Drinks are also very reasonable I had a couple of Miller lights in a frosty glass and my wife had a mimosa and a cocktail.

Yelp
Came for a quick dinner with my friend. We were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We got the ahi tuna nachos, which were very filling, even being split by two people. Be careful if you do not like spicy dishes, because it was very spicy. We also got the crab dip which was a nice portion and delicious. The espresso martinis were really good, the espresso tasted very fresh.

Yelp
I've been in DC since 1994 and have had my share of crab cakes. Good crab cakes. Bad crab cakes. Ok crab cakes. This was by far one of THE worst ones I've ever eaten! PURE MUSH...SOUPY even! The avocados didn't help the mush factor! The sandwich had old bay potato chips on it which could have helped add some texture. It didn't and they were softened by the raw crab cake and mushy avocado! The only thing that saved this meal is the French fries and I added bacon (on side)! They had some things on the menu that I see have pretty good reviews so I will try again but this meal was a definite MISS!!

Yelp
WJ Tabern is a good happy hour place if you're lover of wings. Each of the flavors that we picked with legitimately good and I don't think it necessarily has a bad selection of beers. One thing -- the waitstaff wasn't as attentive when I asked for a nonalcoholic cocktail and gave me an alcoholic one. That docks a star but otherwise I think for happy hour prices, it's worth it.

David M.

Yelp
I walked in on a Tuesday night. Which apparently was one of the smartest decisions I made because they have a raw bar and on Tuesdays it's a buck a shuck. Oh yeah. Oysters on the half-shell, baby. And they're all mine. The oysters were delicious. I also got the lump crab dip, which was good. They have a great selection of beers. The hush-puppies are delightful. My least favorite thing I tried was the fries, but I think that's because everything else I ate was just that good. Our waitress was awesome, keeping us happy even while dealing with multiple tables and groups. There's TV's all around the the sound is off so you can have a decent conversation without having to shout. Great place.

Caroline N.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday afternoon, not crowded, and low noise. We were seated quickly and service was quick and efficient, the waitress was also very nice and ensured that any modifications we requested to our orders were honored. The food is great (especially the fries ). WJT also has a great brunch on the weekends which is definitely worth checking out as well. A+++ mimosas! Parking is not a problem as there are plenty of options around (street and garages).

David S.

Yelp
At least based on my lunch experience, I'm surprised WJ's Tavern is rated so lowly. I loved the salmon wrap...and they even asked how we wanted our salmon done (and mine was perfect medium-rare which is my usual test of the kitchen's attention to detail). It's a great wrap with wasabi slaw poised against the strong salmon flavor with other delicious bits thrown in...but lunch also includes a wide choice of excellent sides (mine was the fine side salad and my companion's elote corn was great, too, served on two short corn cobs). Service was friendly, if a tad slow (it was an off-hour lunch) and the tavern is a cozy place to hang out. There's a great central TV bar with some hunky slinging drinks and working hard. The sour cherry pie and ice cream for dessert was also delicious. Cheap, no; but I'd go back for that salmon wrap ASAP.

Clare O.

Yelp
Another solid takeout in the books. The Cobb salad is my old reliable, so good so fresh. The chicken is the best I've ever had (on a salad) and the balsamic is so so good. And can happily report the beer cheese tastes more like beer (it's more pronounced in a good way). Always knockout food, 10/10 would recommend.

Jessie L.

Yelp
WJT always has really great service, and great reliable meals! With their daily specials and weekly deals, I think that they put a lot of creativity into their menu and customer experience. Some of my favorite menu items are their tempura cauliflower, crispy wings, ahi nachos, and french dip. Of course, their $1 oysters and other raw bar specials on Tuesdays can't be beat for this area. Overall, some of their menu items definitely outshine others, but if you're looking for a solid meal, it's a good choice!

Ronald H.

Yelp
The food and service were great during my visits. Their nightly specials (taco bar & wing nights) are priced right and tasty. Plenty of tv's for sporting events and good music.

Parth R.

Yelp
Nothing crazy special but a solid neighborhood upscale-ish bar food spot. Service is quick, polite, and excellent!

Yelp
I went here last night 5-10-24 like 11:00 pm with my boyfriend for date night . The ambiance was very chill vibes and they had a live band the lady was singing she sung several covers of songs I knew it was great!! The vibes were good the place overall had a nice bar set up and fireplaces on both sides!! The service was good consistently checking on our table and what we may have needed. The Food!!!!!....App; Fried Chicken Wings the Sriracha Honey that the waiter recommended was soooo gooood I'd definitely get them again, My Bf got the Beer Cheese & pretzel logs they sprinkled too much salt he brushed most of it off then it was good & edible, but the beer cheese was very good....we got the Tavern Burgers to Go!!! I'm impressed by the Bourbon Mayo and the Bacon Onion Jam!! and I got lettuce and tomato so I'll come back to review that!! But the burger itself was thick!!! No complaints on the burger to bun ratio at all . Since the tavern burger was ordered with 2 patties I split it and gave my mama a Pattie and she tore that sucks uppp (her words) lol it was flavorful the bacon onion jam was a great combo she'd definitely get one again. Overall I'd definitely return!! And they it's great they stay open til 2am!! So we left right on the nose of closing tiiiime

Yelp
Want to find a place where all the joy has been sucked out of the world. Come here. This place is so sad. Just sad people sitting around a sad bar looking at their phone. Eating alone. For some reason I was never served. I went with a friend, a white male, and the bartender did not talk to me. He asked my friend for his drink order but when I chimed up he walked away. When he asked for a food order he asked my friend and not me and he walked away. We were sitting next to each other and talking to each other so how could someone in the restaurant industry not know that I wanted to orderdidn't even get to order. Garbage. Don't go here. I did not eat. I did not drink. I left. This ruined our night. I felt bad for my friend because he felt guilty. He packed his food to go. I insisted that he not have to be my protector. I needed to extricate myself because I was so upset. This impacts my impression of the other establishments like dogwood and bear branch tavern (I used to love these places) And don't attempt some canned management response or gift card. Fix your staff and how you treat customers don't bribe me.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for somewhere to watch the game and they were very accommodating! Our waitress was on it! She got the game on, was attentive with our food and drinks. She made sure to check in regularly but not too much were it was annoying. There was live music and the band was playing some oldies and some new music! And the crowd was entertaining, definitely recommend!

Emma M.

Yelp
Good food! Good service and good music on a Friday night! Would definitely come back. Reasonably priced too!

David S.

Yelp
Bartender was cool, they were out of a few beers and the cocktails were weak. The steak was just ok but the Brussels sprouts 0 out of 10 super dry almost burnt. The potatoes were good though. Probably won't comeback

Anne C.

Yelp
I was contemplating an order of the buffalo wrap, which is $17 and used to come with alternating sides at no up charge. Laughably, a *side* of tater tots is now $10! I laughed and laughed, and then ordered from another establishment. Attached are screenshots from a previous receipt and the menu now. William Jeffreys : we charge $10 a handful of frozen readymade potato wads!

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Husband and I were here for a happy hour with his job. We had the small bites such as the pork sliders, cheeseburger sliders, bbq and hot wings, and the fries. Didn't order drinks due to a fast, but the water was tasty! OH MY GOODNESS THE FRIES THOUGH! Super good. Apparently they have a parking garage, but couldn't locate it. Just FYI for when you do they validate, just not the one where the giant is lol.

Roberta G.

Yelp
This place wants to serve liquor and the food was mediocre. The emphasis on quantity not quality. The waiter made mistakes although our order was uncomplicated Many large screen TVs and lots of liquor

Katie P.

Yelp
The food is AMAZING. Has become a new favorite. Friendly staff, and a clean, chill space. It's generally open pretty late, and they close the kitchen at a reasonable time.

Lily S.

Yelp
Surprised at the low ratings here. Came here for an early dinner on a Friday. The place wasn't too busy. The chicken sandwich was delicious and they honored happy hour prices outside on the patio. Only issue was it took a bit to be noticed when entering (I.e., getting seated) but other than that our server was stellar.

Sandra H.

Yelp
Came in with a needy party of 14 for dinner. Our server Niko was amazing despite our many requests. Bonus- the food was good too!!

Michele S.

Yelp
My "grilled chicken Provençal" was very nice! The fries were also very good. While the restaurant was mostly empty, the bar was relatively full. This would be a cool place to watch football games, Eat and have drinks in the fall! Server was quirky, cool and on top of things.

Marcy M.

Yelp
The juiciest tastiest cheeseburger that I have ever had! Real beef, well seasoned, moist big burger, delicious sandwich!!! Shockable! Their best appetizer is the corn on the cob, covered with seasonings and light sprinkles of shredded mozzarella! This dish is addictive! I ordered by phone and the gentleman (guy was a bit cold though lol) who took my order as well as the cook got my order specifications just right! Had a great meal, reasonably priced for the value of the food served! Bravo!!!! Thank You, Father in Heaven for the blessing of a great meal! Lord Jesus Christ, deliver the poor and hungry among us and all over the world. Grant us, O Savior, Our God, the grace to help our most afflicted brothers and sisters as much as we can. Amen

Yelp
My friend and i come here all the time and he loves it. He brought me for the first time and I had such a great experience . If I am being completely honest, my favorite part is the bathroom is the bathrooms are very private and super super clean. Also, my friend and I love the wood accent all around the restaurant, I love the lights and the overall aesthetics . When you come here, please request the bartender Drew he was sooo nice! He makes the best long islands [pictured below] Will return, Love Victoria

Yelp
I recently attended an event here. It took place in the back room where the second bar is. The space is very dark and dated. I have attended other events here, and it seems as though the food offerings were pretty much the same. They had a few different crostini to choose from, steak with horseradish, olive tapenade, and smoked salmon with goat cheese, as well as tuna nachos on crispy wontons. I enjoyed all of the aforementioned items. In addition to the items previously mentioned, there were sliders, wings, veggies, hummus with pita points, and cheese. Nothing to write home about, the wings were lacking in flavor and salt, the hummus was just standard, it tasted almost store-bought, the sliders were dry, and there wasn't any kind of barbecue sauce or other condiments put out for them. The bartender was friendly and made decent drinks.

Dea K.

Yelp
I was surprised by the reviews here because this is hands down my favorite place to order delivery from- their salmon and broccolini is my favorite, ever, truly. I don't know how they make something as simple as salmon and veggies taste so good. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked, flavorful, warm every time. Every side I have ordered has been something special in its own right. I have spent an embarrassing amount of money getting their salmon delivered, I could literally eat it every night. Can't speak to the ambiance/service as I've never been in but for food alone, wow wow wow- definitely 5 stars!

Kagame L.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick bite before a comedy show at the Arlington Cinema Drafthouse and I am glad I did. It was super swanky inside and the bartender greeted me right away. I had a margarita to drink (delicious) and some buffalo wings with fries. The fries were a bit too greasy for my liking, but the wings were tasty. I got their ghost pepper sauce on the side (super spicy, but good!). Looks like there's a live band as well.

Charles O.

Yelp
Food was good, service was good, portions are big but parking sucks. The prices are a little much BUT on par for the area. Our group had a little bit of everything and everyone enjoyed their food.

Florence C.

Yelp
A welcoming spot with live music, lotsa fireplaces, yummy food, and fun drinks. After busting out of Escape Room around the corner at around 10pm on a Saturday, my friends and I wanted a snack and some drinks. Here, we found a table right away. Our server recommended their Chicken Nachos which arrived huge and legit with toppings galore including plenty of jalapenos. Then churray for Churros Donuts! They matched perfectly well with my XXX Adult Hot Chocolate full of brandy, aged rum, spiced cream, and honey topped with a house-made marshmallow- SO YUM! Zero pretense, good food, and good drinks! NOTES/TIPS: **Wheelchair-accessible **16 beers on tap, several HDTVs **They practice covid table spacing and masky service

Bobby H.

Yelp
Came here for Super Bowl Sunday a couple weeks ago. Very nice tavern in Arlington. The setup is nice with multiple TVs everywhere and spacious bar seating. Even has private rooms and sections for those reserving space for an event. Definitely a cool spot to chill and drink at however, the service for me was very slow. I ordered poke nachos and waited nearly 40 mins for nachos which was annoying. And honestly, the nachos weren't that great. Also had the cinnamon roll-ups for dessert but they were just okay. Overall the food wasn't that great, if I go back I would just get a drink.

Kay D.

Yelp
Food is amazing. I had oysters half shell and Baby Back Ribs. Zombie Dust IPA on draft is delicious. Service is depended on the days and the server.

Heidi R.

Yelp
Christy is the very best bartender!! She was friendly and made great cocktails for us!

Myvan B.

Yelp
Fun, cozy local hangout with excellent service, delicious mocktails and specials. Love their fireplaces in the winter - really nice ambience.

Dustin C.

Yelp
I love wjt. Been coming here for years. I decided to switch it up and order that tavern burger. Unfortunately this item was not that great. Everything else here is great however. I've had almost every item on the menu and the burger was the only one that I was dissatisfied with. Tonight they had a live band which was fun. Our sever was very friendly. I still give this place 5 stars for all of the other great food options.

Marqui W.

Yelp
The staff is great, but the food is very mid to lackluster. The chicken Marsala was the blandest, unseasoned version of this dish I have ever had, despite me asking for extra wine sauce. I could not even taste the wine sauce. The charred broccolini was good, but the woeful chicken Marsala makes me unlikely to return.

Yuchen Z.

Yelp
Came here after we went to do the Escape Room of Arlington next door. If you escape the room successfully, you get a free appetizer or $10 off your meal. You get one coupon per reservation of escape room. So we got 2 since we escaped 2 rooms!!! Great deal! Overall, the service and food was pretty good. The pretzel bread was excellent - fluffy and tasty. The nachos were OK. The other entrees were decent. I think the overall atmosphere and food scene was pretty good for the price.

Lisa B.

Yelp
My fave din/lunch spot in Arlington. This night the music was def too loud but usually perfect ambiance!! Shrimp flatbread was best thing I've eaten in recent memory. Fries were classic as always. My bf didn't love the hamburger but loved the wings! Staff is always so kind!

Jessenia R.

Yelp
We touched down in DC from NYC, checked in to the Sheraton, and found the most amazing tavern, which was William Jeffrey's. It was great; grilled and crispy wings were our go-to! The tequila selection was elite! Thank you, Megan, Nick, and David! For amazing service, you rock, and keep up the phenomenal hospitality! This weekend was great.

AJ S.

Yelp
Well this is a romantic place to go! My husband and I went for the first time and had a lovely time. The drinks are in my opinion some of the best and we tried everything! Cause well that's what we do The staff wore mask and social distancing was enforced. The menu has something for everyone and I'm just going to lay this out here the food is phenomenal! So get those taste buds ready you'll love it! During this time it's hard for places but rest assured the restaurant is taking every precaution to keep staff and customers safe. To be honest they are seriously going above and beyond and as a customer I appreciate that! If you are in the area please stop by and show some love. Go in enjoy some of the best cocktails around and good food and atmosphere! Cheers!

Nina L.

Yelp
Great time. Came in with a bunch of girlfriends for a fun night out. Most people watching March Madness but we got our own "nook" and wait staff was super attentive, food menu had great variety and drinks were fun. Glad we checked this place out!

Tori R.

Yelp
I attended the restaurant for the first time last night with my fiancee and close friend. it was our first time dining and we went around 5:30. We were not immediately greeted but we're given water. It was 35 minutes before we gained the attention of a server to order our food. BUT when the food did come we were pleasantly surprised. The nachoes were superb and the steak was delicious. I had the Bavarian Pretzel which was also spot-on. The servers need more training about customer service and manners but the management was excellent.

Daniel F.

Yelp
Probably one of the best crispy chicken wings I have had. Great selection of various flavors as well. Great drink and draft beer menu. We'll worth the visit. Relaxing environment.

Angelina B.

Yelp
Visit this spot at least every other week with a friend. We're a fan to say the least for dinner, HH and Brunch! On special they were having grilled oysters (out front on an actual grill!) and had to try. The oysters came with a garlic butter $5 for 10. They were ok, probably wouldn't get again because I'd probably need 3 servings to be satisfied. We ordered bread on the side, because it came with none.

Hannah J.

Yelp
Great service from the bar. Order the French dip one of the best I've had in a while!

John G.

Yelp
Went for happy hour and dinner. When we first got there around 430p, it was really slow but picked up as the evening went on. Large selection of craft beers and pretty solid HH specials. The Steak Bomb was a solid sandwich for sure and the fries were really good as well. Parking in the garage is a little pricey ($18 for 4 hours, they validated $11). Will definitely go back when Im in the area.

Tara D.

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere, bartender was very attentive and the calamari slapped. They were out of the ingredients for the first cocktail i ordered but the bartender helped me out and i chose a good beer! If your in the area for a quick bite and a quality beer stop in! My friend got the burger loaded with all of the toppings and i heard no complaints!

Dee M.

Yelp
I got the New Orleans Rock Shrimp Po Boy with two elotes as my side. The sandwich was pretty good. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and shrimp with some ranch sauce slathered on the inside of the bread. The shrimp were deep fried and juicy. There were so much of them that the sandwich was overflowing with shrimp. I couldn't keep all the shrimp inside. I figured the extra pieces were for us to enjoy and to dip into the ranch (whatever the white sauce was) individually, without the sandwich. I feel like the price for the sandwich (with a side) was justified (about $13). The sandwich was pretty huge. The elotes were... meh. The toppings weren't the same like the way they make it at Tortas y Tacos La Chiquita down the street. The corn was cut in half so you get two pieces, and the toppings were spread sparingly over them. It wasn't disgusting, but it wasn't the best I've had. I liked the interior design. It was nice inside and cleaner than other bars I've been to. They have autumn decorations all over the place right now. Really nice. This place is catty corner from Bob & Edith's and to the right of Taqueria El Poblano. Lastly, their glass doors had huge letters that read "Free Parking". I should add that their food is kind of expensive, but justified due to its location I suppose.....

Jacquline A.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE this place. Brunch, dine in, or carry out, the food is always fantastic. Portions are large and the quality is consistently outstanding. We love the wings (both fried and smoked), nachos, and drinks. At brunch, we'll have chicken and waffles, brioche French toast, or eggs benedict. We even went just for drinks for my boyfriends birthday and our service was incredibly friendly. They were more than accommodating, and are handling COVID restrictions very wel. I have never had a bad experience here, and that's why we keep coming back!

Hamid S.

Yelp
I went on a late midweek afternoon and found the establishment decently busy. Despite this I was seated and given water by my waiter. The happy hour menu is well priced and has a solid amount of choices. In regards to food, I had the orange chicken off of the happy hour menu as well but I believe that it wasn't really much to rave about. The rice was okay at best and the chicken was a little too sweet and wasn't really as crispy as I would've liked it to be. The overall ambience of this location is nice and cozy, yet also very spacious. The bar is well made with numerous TVs which would cover almost all sporting needs. Overall, the service and ambiance really pulled this rating up as I feel like the food was a tad second-rate.
