Houston’s Crawfish Season Will Experience Some Delays This Year. Here’s Why. | Eater Houston

"According to owner Marty Wadsworth, crawfish season is “our Super Bowl” at Willie’s Grill and Icehouse: the Texas‑based chain has been serving crawfish for 25 years across about 20 outposts, sold nearly 100,000 pounds in the first half of 2023, and saw a 20 percent sales increase in that period. I was told Willie’s still considers crawfish its bread and butter, selling tens of thousands of pounds each month during season; Wadsworth says the season typically starts late January or early February, with March–April the “sweet spot” when bugs are more plentiful and prices drop, larger crawfish appearing later, and the season ending by Father’s Day as shells harden, and he emphasized that weather and cold snaps—plus reliance on multiple Louisiana suppliers—can make January a make‑it‑or‑break month." - Brittany Britto Garley

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Willie’s is our favorite local spot. The menu is great and the service is fast & friendly. Emily R always gives us incredible service! The burgers, fish tacos and salads are delicious. The strawberry margaritas are a personal favorite but there’s a nice bar inside too. This place is a must try.

This was the first time I stepped inside Willies, and I am glad I did. Emily was our hostess and ensured we understood how seriously the restaurant takes customer satisfaction. The manager also came to our table to ensure everything was going great. The food was perfect; their potato fries were simply outstanding. The vibe and atmosphere are so family-friendly. Going forward, this will be our regular hangout place. They have plenty of parking and are conveniently located.

Came in for dinner last night and had a great time, and Valeria took great care of us! Great music and even better burgers. I recommend their new bacon jam burger. Will be back next weekend!!

Willie’s has always been a comforting choice—a reliable spot where you can enjoy a simple, consistent meal. When the restaurant introduced its app with a rewards program, it was easy to see the value. Points were earned at a reasonable pace, and the rewards, such as free food, felt worthwhile. However, as of August, the rewards program seems to have changed, and the value has diminished. For example, the monthly 30% discount for members has been reduced to 25%, and when redeeming food rewards, the variety of options has narrowed significantly. Previously, there were plenty of appealing choices; now, the options are more limited to basic items. That said, the food quality has remained consistent—never bad—and the service is generally good. In the past, the rewards program encouraged us to visit more often, but now we tend to stop by only when we’re looking for something familiar and satisfying. While Willie’s may no longer be our first choice, it remains a dependable option for a straightforward meal.

Fantastic Food, Cold Drinks, and Great Vibes! I had an awesome experience at this grill and icehouse! The food was top-notch—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The burgers were juicy, the wings had the perfect kick, and the sides were delicious. The drink selection was impressive, with ice-cold beers on tap and creative cocktails that hit the spot. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. The staff was friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. Whether you’re stopping by for dinner, drinks, or just to hang out with friends, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
