Forîn - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Wim Cafe has become Forîn. It’s the third location for the spot known for casual all-day cafes. But instead of swapping the menu completely, they’re keeping Wim’s Indonesian twists. Expect curry tofu baguettes, ube sugar cookies, banana chai, and warming mocha matchas at the South Street restaurant. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Candis R. The 9 Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Philly, Fall 2022 - Eater Philly

"Excitement doesn’t even begin to describe what the city of Philadelphia is feeling in anticipation of local legend Shannon Maldonado’s second, much larger Yowie shop, hotel, and cafe on South Street. The all-day cafe — called Wim — will be a collaboration between Maldonado and the folks behind ReAnimator Coffee and Eeva pizza, so expect coffee (duh), pastries, sandwiches, salads, and more, as well as a pantry of sundry items to purchase." - Dayna Evans

I loved this place in Kensington and I’m so happy to see the expansion! Breakfast sandwiches are delicious and the Ube latte is always my favorite. The owner has made this place super stylish. My one critique is that the Kensington location is more dialed in with decor and vibe, but the window seating is really nice to look out in south street. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite and coffee or relaxing place to get some work done.

got the ube and banana lattes (iced and with oat milk) and loved both!! the banana syrup is made in-house and it was perfect! the food was also amazing :-) <3

The place itself is cute and the baristas are friendly. However the coffee doesn’t taste very good, my cold brew I get black and it just tasted like I was drinking slightly bitter water. If you took a cup into dirty sink water that was basically what you were drinking. And my associate got a vanilla iced late and it was extremely bitter and watery as well. Felt like waste of money when there’s a better coffee shop less than two blocks away.

The employees are very friendly. I come almost three days a week. Their coffee is very high quality. The place is always very clean. A very nice cafe to sit down and spend time with my friend or on your own.

Google
It's a very cute place and the baristas are chill but their chai latte taste more like milk than anything else and they don't have caramel :( it's definitely a cute place to come get some work done and grab a coffee but it's not the best place in the area.

Their (featured) drip coffee was incredibly delicious. It even tasted better than most pour overs I've had in the city. Already wondering when my next appointment is in the area to go back lol.

Google
I googled “best coffee” and this place showed up as one of the choices. Unfortunately, the coffee isn’t the best, in fact I had to toss it as it is too bitter. The service was fine. The pastry just ok. The ambiance is pleasant.

Yelp
Yowie is a great new addition to South Street! The inside is beautiful-very simple and very open. There is indoor and outdoor seating and would be a good place to work or meet up with a friend to chat. My iced chai latte was literally ready in a minute or two-no wait at all. They have some seasonal drinks-definitely want to come back to try the strawberry matcha lemonade. I didn't order and food, but they have a few sandwich/meal options plus some pastries and snacks. Prices seem on par with other cafes in the city.

Yelp
Very cute spot for coffee. A solid place to WFH. I love that it's connected to a little artsy shop. The iced chai was great. The smoked salmon toast was good too. I would've liked the bread to be toasted a bit more, but if you like a fluffy toast, this would be for you! The service was great too. They were friendly and quick.

Yelp
Creative seasonal drinks. Chill vibe - not hectic. Dog-friendly indoors. Good place to WFH.
