"An outdoor Chinese takeaway that’s in the unassuming Chrisp Street Market. Husband and wife duo Sam and Viv have been cooking some of the finest Cantonese fast food in Poplar since 1952. Think cha chaan teng (HK-style cafe) meets greasy spoon, with food that’s strictly no-frills easily filling stomachs for under a fiver. Find classic takeaway dishes that have been given the wok-hei treatment such as roast duck Cantonese style in a salty thick brown gravy gloop sauce, chicken chow mein flecked with charred bits of spring onion and beansprouts and chunky sweet and sour pork that’s not in the least bit soggy. What’s more, the elusive Chinese-Scouse hybrid salt and pepper chips make an appearance on the menu and they’re mixed with hunks of chunky onions, peppers and liberally tossed with chillis and spices. —AH" - Jonathan Nunn

It is a delightful Italian gem nestled in Poplar, East London. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance and inviting aromas set the stage for an authentic dining experience. The menu boasts a variety of classic Italian dishes, from freshly made pastas to wood-fired pizzas. Each dish is crafted with care, using fresh ingredients that highlight the rich flavors of Italy. The Margherita pizza, with its perfectly crisp crust and flavorful tomato sauce, is a must-try.

I moved here around 2 years ago and only recently have tried this place out and since my first time getting their salt and pepper chicken with fried rice I was hooked. Since then I've gone back again and again - you can really taste the wok in the food and the seasoning is just right. The salt and pepper chicken is well seasoned in contrast to the rice which is flavourful but not salty - which makes the dish very nicely balanced. I really can't recommend this for the price enough.

One of the best Chinese takeaways in East London! The chef is incredibly nice, and I've been eating here for years. My absolute favorite is the salt and pepper chicken fried rice – it's a must-try and worth coming back for again and again.

Feeling hungry didn’t know what I wanted. Seen someone have chips and curry sauce, asked to try a little sauce and it was absolutely lovely. Would recommend again and again; can’t wait to go back next week.

One of my go-to spots for delicious Chinese food! I’ve been a few times now, and it never disappoints. So far, I’ve tried the special box with the salt and pepper mix: 2 wings, 3 spring rolls, and chips. The flavour is super fresh and seriously tasty. Can’t wait to explore more of the menu!

Staff are very polite Excellent service & portions Dishes I've had over the years are prepared well and tasty. Cash payment only. Food Pictures veg noddles with curry sauce & chips. Also special curry & boiled rice. A nice gem in Chrisp Street Market
