We always make sure to stop by Wishing Well whenever on the North Shore. We've been fortunate enough to visit the island once, sometimes twice a year and no trip to Hanalei town is complete without going to Wishing Well for some shave ice and acai bowls.
I tend to order natural (organic) fruit juice flavor syrups for my shave ice. I usually go with lychee, coconut, lilikoi or pineapple flavs with li hing mui or a snowcap. No ice cream in the shave ice for me, ever. Usually runs about $8-$10 with toppings... My lady loves to get their acai bowls. She always gets the Good Times bowl ($15) that comes with granola, banana, peanut butter, mac nut, chia seeds, toasted coconut & a coconut cream drizzy. This is her guaranteed order every trip.
The whole Wishing Well compound has evolved in the last few years. When we started going to the island, shave ice, acai bowls and coffee were served out of the truck. Now, only shave ice and ice cream are served out of the truck. They built a beautiful, light, wooden space towards the back of the property for acai bowls and coffee. It's a really nice build out. There are lounge chairs, benches and board games out back. They've built a nice space for their customers to enjoy their refreshments and relax. I really like it... They have really cleanly designed merch too, The Otto trucker hats for Wishing Well coffee are nice and came in dark brown and tan colors. Simple and clean.
My lady's favorite store on the island is Slow Yourself Down which is also part of the Wishing Well Shave Ice property and run by the same folks. Nicely designed, consciously made shirts, hats, sweatshirts and hoodies. We always stop in. She always makes a purchase. Not cheap but high quality.
See you next summer.... Slow Yourself Down is the mantra.
