The 11 Best Food Hall Restaurants In Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"Just about any plate at Wokker will fill you up. Especially the cowboy katsu curry served with crispy chicken, rice, and a jammy fried egg all doused in sauce. If you love Texas barbecue (and who doesn’t), the sweet and tangy barbecue sauce over the top will make your heart grow an extra size. And while nothing here will blow you away, it will comfort and satiate you, especially if you throw in  the brisket eggrolls." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi

Wokker - Review - Galleria - Houston - The Infatuation

"If you love Texas barbecue (who doesn’t), Wokker's sweet and tangy barbecue sauce over their cowboy katsu curry will make your heart grow an extra size. Everything here is extremely filling—that katsu curry comes with crispy chicken, rice, and a jammy fried egg all doused in sauce, for instance. And while nothing at Wokker will blow you away, it will comfort and satiate you, especially if you throw in the brisket eggrolls." - Chelsea Thomas

Google
Great food. I would definitely come here again to try different dishes. I had the cowboy katsu. The chicken was delicious and rice was good as well. The restaurant was visually appealing with a nice art piece covering the a whole wall. It was my first time coming here and I’m glad we chose to come here.

Google
Absolutely excellent food! Wokker serves up bold, flavorful dishes with a creative twist—I haven’t had a single bite I didn’t love. The vibe is fun and relaxed, the portions are generous, and everything is super fresh and delicious. The customer service? Top tier! The staff is friendly, attentive, and really goes the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience from start to finish. Bonus tip: Don’t miss Meo, the speakeasy tucked inside Wokker. It’s a cool, hidden spot with a great atmosphere and drinks—just keep in mind it’s 21+ only. Kids aren’t allowed in the speakeasy, but they’re welcome in the main dining area of Wokker, making it a great pick for both family outings and adult nights out. Yummy food, amazing service, and a little secret spot inside? Yes, please!

Google
That was the best brisket Pad Thai I've ever had.. I added a little bit more cabbage and some Sriracha but that's my own preference with a little soy sauce and wow I'm coming back for more

Leslie B

Google
Food was fresh and hot. The secret speakeasy entrance was cute but a distraction if you sit near it. Worth a try. The crispy bits on the broccoli provided some entertainment for how it moved like it was a live.

Annette Goh

Google
The soya eggplant was tasty and definitely a highlight. The Pad Thai, however, didn’t look like the picture and tasted just okay. The fries were a little soggy, which was disappointing. Easy to find parking here and the self service restaurant was clean and quite spacious.

Google
Stopped for lunch and had a great time. My family ordered multiple different meals and enjoyed all of them. Christine was very friendly when she helped us and her cooking was delicious, would love to go back.

Miriam Lopez

Google
Very friendly staff, the Bonito Brussels Sprouts were yummy and they have a good variety of draft beer. I had the Brisket Pad Thai which was good but I felt as if the brisket was lacking in flavor. The place is spacious. I’m not sure if I ordered the wrong thing, but I feel that my experience didn’t live up to all the good reviews here.

Dawn Mays

Google
The service here is so friendly and accommodating. She literally offered to pick out the green onions in the fried rice if I wanted her to. (I didn't make her) I haven't had the food yet but I am very impressed already and will definitely be back just for the customer service.

Yelp
Straight up, some of the most off-the-chain good food I've had. Their brisket egg rolls, are straight up incredible. Pretty much a must have. Man I'm hungry just thinking about them. Their signature fried rice bowl--with smoked chicken--oh man. Really nothing like it. This place is super unique. Kind of a Houston BBQ--Asian fusion, and it's so good. It's also in a chill part of the city. Really nice people working there, made sure to give me extra Sriracha and thank me for being a customer.

Yelp
Let me tell you about this place. I ordered from there yesterday over the phone and then called them at 9 PM the next day and they said they don't take orders over the phone because they were too lazy to take the order. I go here three times a month and never heard this before. Piss poor service when I'm hungry. This was on 6/17
google avatar

Sammy K.

Yelp
The brisket on the curly q fries was really good. I'd recommend them. The brisket eggrolls were a bit of a disappointment though. Should be served with bbq sauce as opposed to an Asian dip. Service was cool. I placed my order easily and food was cooked to order. Place was a vibe and full of people on their way to the Astro's game.

Yelp
I have to give this place a solid 5 because the food and service was excellent. Yes it's bare bones as far as decor goes but it is what it is. The food here is excellent. Popped in because I live in the neighborhood and I did not want to venture far. Service was friendly and attentive. It is a walk up to the counter, place your order and your food would be brought out to you establishment. It was a Sunday and the place was not packed. We started with the jalapeno bites. They were so good we ordered two more helpings to go. I had the orange chicken bowl (so good). The grilled onions and peppers where a nice compliment to the dish. My friend ordered the fried rice bowl and it was very delicious. The food came out fresh and made to order. I was really impressed with this place and was impressed by the quality of the food. I will definitely be back. There is a little speakeasy inside called Méo. One of the employees showed us the secret entrance because I asked. It was closed at the time but can't wait to have cocktails there. I will definitely come back here.

Yelp
The food is fresh and amazing and has a great spice and flavoring. I love the brisket egg rolls and their pork belly rice! The cashier was super friendly and was very informative about all three menus and their times. I love the decorations and the cool updated decor!

Yelp
I'd say solid place for a quick lunch, but their food does better as a food truck than a standalone store. It is a fast-casual Texas-Asian fusion restaurant that is spacious, but the furniture is pretty bare bones. It is a nice concept, but the execution is not inventive or new. Cowboy katsu- 6.5/10 Fried pork katsu in a BBQ/teriyaki sauce over a bed of rice topped with pickled onions, green onions, and a sunny-side up egg. I prefer my eggs more fried, but the yolk was nice and runny. The katsu could be more fried, crispy, and flaky. Sauce seemed like a pretty basic mixture of BBQ and ketchup. Pork belly fried rice- 6.8/10 I love the fried rice, it was savory, salty, sweet, not too oily. Pork belly is juicy and chewy; it's hard to get pork belly wrong! Feels like a homecooked cheat meal I make for myself haha. Bourbon pepper steak- 6/10 Steak and peppers were good, but no special twist or anything that stood out. You can get this at your local Chinese takeout for about the same price with a much larger serving. Not sure if I would return because the recipes are basic, nothing really wow'd me, but nothing wrong for a relatively cheap bite.

Yelp
Ordered from the Underground Hall location. Very disappointing, to quote my husband, "this is not good at all". We had the orange chicken bowl, no mandarin oranges as advertised, instead we had two carrot slices. The orange chicken was dry, with no sauce. The fried rice had no meat and was too spicy to eat. Unfortunately, we ordered takeout; if we had dined in, we would have given the orange chicken bowl back, money returned or not. Will not order again.

Yelp
UH student staple in between classes via food truck Have been having the pork belly fried rice for years and it always hits the spot. Cowboy Katsu is close second

Yelp
Oh man, I stumbled across the place by accident and I am soooo glad I did. I was grabbing food while on my way to my brothers for our Saturday family hang out. This food is so good! We ordered two of the fried rice bowls one pork belly and one brisket and my brother had the shaken beef. I specifically had the brisket and it's so delicious it tastes candied and it's cooked to perfection it compliments the egg in the bowl. In true little sister fashion I ate a piece of food out of everyone's bowl while unpacking the to go bag and can confirm all food was delicious haha. I didn't dine in but the person at the register was very nice and my food was ready quickly. Highly recommend trying this place out!
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Got the shaken beef and the brisket spring rolls. Everything was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. Will be back for the pork belly fried rice.
google avatar

Nina T.

Yelp
Delicious Asian fusion restaurant! Tried the BBQ brisket eggrolls, bonito brussel sprouts, brisket curly fries, shaken beef, pork belly fried rice, and brisket pad thai.

Rob B.

Yelp
Had the brisket pad Thai, and it was amazing. The noodles were flavorful by themselves, but the brisket added a whole new depth and a unique twist on a classic dish. Would highly recommend, especially for a hangover cure.
google avatar

Judith L.

Yelp
Really not sure why they have almost 5 stars. I got the chicken bowl and the chicken was very bland. It said it was waved with fried rice which I assumed would have some sort of veggies mixed in but definitely did not, the kimchi it was topped with was hardly anything so basically you are paying $16 for a cup of bland rice and some chicken. Also no sauce to add on top to make it tastier. Not worth it.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Fun fusion joint that combines Texan and Asian influences. The pork belly fried rice was tasty with tender and fatty pork belly. The brisket egg rolls were good as well although I wished the brisket was juicier. Great flavors overall. Love the vibe here. The space is pretty big with just enough decoration to entertain the eye. They were also playing killer Southern jams (e.g. Tammy Wynette). Friendly service. Clean bathrooms. Ample parking.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Such a good place for a quick eats. I got the cowboy katsu which was fried really well. It had that crunch. I also felt like the amount of protein given was just right. Overall a solid meal for the price. My friend got the pork bellied fried rice which was also good! The standout for me was their fried rice. I wish upgraded mine from white rice to fried rice because it was delicious.
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Found this place after a farmer's market run and it was a nice surprise. The interior was cute and they also sell kimchi and beers on the side. We ordered the chicken katsu with rice, brisket pad Thai, Brussels sprouts and spicy chicken fried rice. The katsu was crispy and the pickled onions were a good pairing. The brisket pad Thai had a generous amount of tender brisket but the noodles were slightly sweet for me. The Brussels sprouts were seasoned well but was drenched in oil. The chicken had a gochujang sauce that was flavorful but dry. I enjoyed the food and would come back to try out their shareables next time!
google avatar

Mariah M.

Yelp
Wokker offers a great vibe, great beer/cider and just as amazing food. My boyfriend is quite the fried rice fan and he said their pork belly fried rice is the best he's had. I would have to agree! I've been eating at Wokker since I worked downtown in 2018 and I have to say the quality has fluctuated. Some months I am pleased and others not so much. The most recent trip we had the pork belly fried rice, brisket fries and smoked chicken fried rice. The brisket fries used to be my go to but the brisket this time was dry and overall the fries were a tad disappointing. The pork belly fried rice was good but less pork belly than I remember. I would still recommend this place and have it on my list to checkout the location in the heights!
google avatar

Brice A.

Yelp
To start, the appetizers we had were good. I was excited to try to brisket egg rolls for sure, and they were good. Was I mind-blown? Absolutely not. Staying in trend, I had the brisket pad Thai, which had zero flavor. Also, it was pretty expensive for what feels and tastes like fast food.
google avatar

Fran D.

Yelp
The best part of the meal is the optics and presentation of the food. I loved the flavor of the rice however it didn't taste like the traditional fried rice. I order the pork and was not a fan because it was very greasy and fatty, I think it would have been better if I had the brisket
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
This review is for their new store, not the food truck. But I figured it is close enough.... Really great food! Perfect mix of Asian fusion and Texas influence. We enjoyed the pork belly and smoked chicken fried rice. Both super flavorful. We also got the brisket fries- lots of food but super yummy! There was plenty of seating and the staff was very nice- I highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Husband and I went here on a whim from IG for lunch today. Wonderfully fused flavors. The food was delicious and flavorful. The customer service was impeccable. I ordered pepper steak with kimchi added, he had brisket egg rolls and orange chicken. I cannot stress enough how tasty everything was. We'll definitely return!
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
The new brick and motor location of Wokker is SO delicious. Order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. We tried the Pork Belly Fried Rice, Brisket Eggrolls and Brisket Curly Fries. The fried rice might be the best fried rice I've ever had. I highly recommend!

Adelle I.

Yelp
We ordered the shaken beef and the pork belly rice bowl and we were blown away. The flavors were crisp and clean. DELICIOUS!! Highly recommend. First time customer. Will be definitely coming back. Staff were friendly and the decor was very welcoming.

Sonja S.

Yelp
I go to the underground rail for lunch, their food is always good. The ambience is always quiet and the service is always pleasant and on time.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
I went to the actual restaurant when I thought it was going to be a food truck? The presentation was pretty, but the food did not taste good. At all. The "fried rice" was sweet? The pork was very fatty... My friend had the shrimp which tasted a bit better, but not amazing. I would not come back for the food. The restaurant was nicely decorated, though.
google avatar

Nancy O.

Yelp
Food is beyond awesome here. I took it to go and it was ready and steaming hot when I picked up. I don't think their prices are real bad either!
google avatar

Ellie N.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Really like my pork belly fried rice! Flavor is on point and rice is really good! Compliments it super well.
google avatar

Yelp
I know I only order from you guys when I'm drunk but you're the best late night food around. Thanks for always making my order correctly and tasty. Some of the best food in town
google avatar

Gracie R.

Yelp
Le falta sazon. Spent $30 and the food was bland. I'm a foodie and I was excited to try this place out but it was lacking flavor in the dishes I ordered. Really disappointed for my first visit.
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
Very cool spot. Food was awesome. Great ambiance and the service was amazing. Will definitely be back
google avatar

Clarissa V.

Yelp
I can't speak too much on service since I ordered via door-dash. The food was delivered within 30 mins of ordering. Our food was still warm when received. I ordered the Shaken Beef. The beef was nice and tender and the sauce was great over the nice fluffy bed of white rice. I wish I got a bit more meat, but overall the meal was delicious and filling. The eggrolls were a nice choice for an appetizer. They don't hold back on the meat. My husband ordered the brisket fries and didn't complain. This place was great. I can't wait to go back and try something new!
google avatar

Angelica M.

Yelp
The food is great and the music vibe took back to high school. I'll would come again. This place will be added on my places to eat Houston.
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
This place makes a great selection for lunch, for you don't want to go crazy but you need something that's just different. Smoked chicken and rice bowl sealed the deal for me. If you're scared, get this, and if you're not, then have fun because their menu has range. Stop being a wimp and get your fat ass pants on and grub down.
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
If you love food after the club, this spot is it! Service is bomb! Food is bomb!! Prob the best food I had in Houston so far...
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
Great quality, decent portion size but great vibes of the underground hall! Recommend getting a beer from the bar as well!
google avatar

Tamica D.

Yelp
I ordered the pork belly fried rice to go and it was soooo yummy. The pork belly was very tender. I will definitely be back to try some of the other items.
google avatar

June C.

Yelp
Food was not that great to me only the brisket egg rolls was good. The service was great
google avatar

Charlene P.

Yelp
Yummy! Food was hot and fresh. My hubby was happy with his choice. The server was friendly. Highly recommend. I'm glad they were at the truck yard today.

Kacy H.

Yelp
Brisket egg rolls are TINY and overpriced. I can't even exaggerate how small they are.

Yelp
First time I noticed Wokker Food Truck was at a community event back in 2015 called Yelp Houston Photo Exhibit. I remember vividly as it was a hot day seeing Wokker Food Truck in front of Spring Street Studio. https://www.yelp.com/biz/yelp-houston-photo-exhibit-houston Few of us came out hungry after partying in the air-conditioned galleries. Depp, Maria, Gail and I were attracted by the cooking aroma and walked toward the truck. But the line was really long. So, we waited and regretted. Because some popular items were sold out. The only things we could order were the shareable (appetizers). We ordered whatever we can to fill our empty tummies. We shared our orders with each other. Once I got my Bonito Brussels Sprouts, I didn't want to share, because it was so delicious. Then, I said to myself, I've gotta catch them again. After reading the history on their website, I started to follow their schedule to see where they go. Next time we met was at a charity event called The Great Banh Mi Cook-Off in October 2017. I love their creativity in Asian fusion cuisine. I'd never imagine how versatile Wokker's signature pork belly can be on a French roll. https://www.facebook.com/events/120943718517810 My recent encounter was at HAAPIFest early this month. Wokker Food Truck fed dozens of hungry folks after a food-related screening called "Fermented". Our meals were packed in a bento box to preserve the beauty of their crafts. I ordered extra for takeout. Because I know I would love them even a day or two after. My favorites were Cowboy Katsu and Cowboy Katsu Tofu. Their signature sauce was perfect replacement of traditional tonkatsu sauce - doesn't overpower the tender chop. What's next? I'm gonna hit up their restaurant on Franklin Street in downtown Houston. My mouth is watering already. https://www.yelp.com/biz/wokker-houston **46th review of 2018**

Yelp
Not nearly as good as they used to be in 2022. Idk I can just really taste the lack of quality and I don't think the price is worth it. Also, $9 for obviously frozen tiny egg rolls? I could've gone to a less pricey and better place, but I was thinking it was going to be as great as I remembered.

TheBaked L.

Yelp
I don't leave reviews but when I do it's for here so nobody dies without having the best foodie experience of life. I'm simply talking about the eggplant dish .. it's seggs.. it's life. It's everything you would never think eggplant could be. It's sinful . Damn. I have food to cook here for lunch but f that. Im having eggplant for lunch again lol. Last time they had a crazy deal. Buy 1 get 1 of anything for free I believe. Those types of deals usually say somethings wrong or they're trying to get people in the door or what not I learned that from being in the restaurant industry myself or 10+ years, but in this case, that is not what I meant, it meant ! It's simply a thank you for dining with us I think. Anyways. Go get the damn eggplant dish.. Love you. God loves you. I don't have Depression ... depression has meeeeee
google avatar

Bobby S.

Yelp
Portion sizes are on the smaller side while the prices are on the higher side. I had the smoked chicken fried rice. Food quality and flavor was good. It seems this started as a food truck and now brick and mortar. Overall not super impressed but it ain't bad either.
google avatar

Michele J.

Yelp
Food: Great taste, no fillers which I appreciate just meat and rice or vegetables. We had the Brisket Egg Rolls Shaken Beef Popcorn Chicken Brisket Fries All were incredible, everything tasted different with no muddled flavors. Price: was relatively expensive (not a cheap way) for a some what smaller portion of food. Because everything was so incredible, can't complain honestly. It's worth it, the quality of meat was great all around. Staff: incredibly nice, fast, and polite people that seemed excited to be at help us out which we appreciated!
google avatar

MartyMar A.

Yelp
We had the brisket eggrolls, brussel sprouts, pork belly fried rice and shaken beef. All was very delicious! Staff very kind. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I love wokker! Had them first at underground hall and now having their own restaurant and still amazing!! Great Flavors, texture and Portion never disappoints! I also requested for extra rice through UberEats and they granted! 5 star service
google avatar

Trinh H.

Yelp
They're the sweetest! I placed an order of pork belly fried rice on Doordash at 12:30AM last night. My order arrived so quickly in under 20 minutes, well packed, and so delicious! Love the pork belly and kimchi combo! The best part was their "free gift" surprise of brisket eggroll. I didn't order it but ended up finishing them all. So glad I got to try this place out. Thank you for opening late and being so efficient and kind!
google avatar

Yelp
The food and service was AMAZING! My husband and I came in for a late night dinner and were blown away. The owner was in and helped us with recommendations and shared his story! We love to support a local spot and cannot wait to come back! For sure get the brisket pad Thai.
