I was blown away the very first time I tried these wraps. The flavors are amazing and they hold up very well. They're not cheap but definitely worth it for a splurge meal. Their name was what struck me first, I'm a lover of all things fantasy, including Underworld, True Blood and I'll even go nostalgic and include, Teen Wolf (obvi Michael J. Fox, because I'm an old head and an ~almost~ 80s baby)
My first bite was the Dire Wolf with fried chicken with lamb bacon, cheddar, green papaya slaw, pickled peppers and what they call "Wolf Ketchup". I also tried their Pink Moon, grilled shrimp with kohlrabi. I ordered both, "unwrapped", and they were soooo good! The lamb bacon and their sage aioli are what caught my eye and I told my whole family that they need to try these wraps.
Fast forward to now, when I've been given another opportunity to work at my gig in the city, and try their wraps again. This time, I ordered for the whole family. It was a large and pricey order and I was worries there might be mistakes but they took the time to package everything carefully and all the items were marked clearly so that I knew what belonged to whom.
Grub Rundown:
The Alpha - this surf & turf wrap was my next choice. It was great. It has steak and shrimp in a date and pumpkin wrap. Of course, I added lamb bacon and it was a Greta addition to the cheddar, fried pickles, apple, plantain chips and chipotle aioli.
Once I A Blue Moon - hubby opted for this fried chicken ans feta wrap, with cashew, spicy pineapple (yum!), sumac onions, cilantro, kohlrabi and a mint yogurt sauce. It had a nice kick to it and the flavors are so unique but meld together perfectly.
Himalayan - I got this for my brother-in-law, who is vegetarian. He loved his seitan and kohlrabi, spicy pineapple, sumac onions, cilantro, pumpkin seeds and vegan red choli aioli.
Howling - my sis opted for this one. Grilled chicken with fried pickles, feta, melon, mint & yogurt sauce. She loved it and even added some lamb bacon to go along with it.
Kid's Menu - for my daughter, I kept it simple because she doesn't love all the sauces like her momma yet, so I try to ease her into trying new things. I got her the chicken tendies, which come with the wolf ketchup (she was not a face of the ketchup but it's probably because I told her it was wolf ketchup...go fig). Personally, I did not like the tenders. I thought they were very thin and dry but she was ok with them. I was her meal with with tater tots, which she loves, and kohlrabi sticks, which she really liked, especially with BBQ sauce. Next time, we'll see how she likes a wrap.
My son ordered the Dire Wolf wrap and of course, he enjoyed that. Unfortunately, we were unable to order the wolf attack tots through the app (Please look into this!) as it would not let us submit the menu item without adding on extras that cost extra money. I'm sure it's a glitch in the system because I have seen this happen with other orders I put through. Normally, I would just order any side and then call the restaurant to clarify what I wanted, and if there's an extra charge, they'll let me know and charge it to my order. This time, I just got the feta tots. I had them before and they tasted good.
I ordered extra tots and steak fries, sage aioli (please try this sauce!) and tried their mustard horseradish as well. I love their inventive sauces. Any place that goes out of the box with a sauce cares about flavors and those of us that love to try everything.
Most of their menu items are customizable. You don't have to be a meat eater to enjoy their food. They offer many vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The inclusivity is just an added bonus.
Wolf out and grab a wrap.
