On the Grid : Wong Good Hand Pulled Noodle

"In Brooklyn, you can rarely go a day without walking past several if not dozens of hole in the wall establishments. After a first taste, Wong Good Hand Pulled Noodle will not be one you breeze past any longer. The prices are low. The soups are large. The broth is delicious. The noodles are made in front of you. This place can de described in countless tiny sentences. As you may have guessed, eating there is a pleasure. The owner and workers are attentive and kind even though their English may be limited. It seems to be one of the few places that although languages and backgrounds are disparate, people can respectfully sit down and comfortably enjoy a meal together." - the serif design

This place is the absolute best! Hand pulled noodles are chewy and the beef broth is transcendent. The pork dumplings have an incredible depth of flavor and you get 10 to an order. There is no need to go anywhere else.

Google
This is such a special place. This food belongs in the Bible. It should be revered like the Kings and Queens and even the gods of mythology. You’re not getting better dumplings than this. The shredded meat and cabbage or leek is so tender, so sweet, spicy, sour, vinegary, and the tender sheath, the skin of the dumpling is so chewy yet soft and wheaty and flavorful like nothing else. It’s just as unique as the distinct flavor of a Cheerios or Quaker oatmeal, but completely different and better. This is just the steamed dumplings mind you. The rest of the food will need subsequent reviews. Phenomenal. Eat there today. Edit: These days it’s all about the oxtail noodle soup. Hot dog that dish is popping.

Tasty, flavourful. It was hot inside during summer. For the price, worth it! They also have quite the variety. The staff were friendly.

Google
Growing up, one of my all-time favorite dishes has been the hand-pulled steak noodle soup from this noodle shop. My last three visits have been great, making me satisfied with my experience. I did have one experience that wasn’t quite good when I ordered it to go, as the flavor didn't quite match the dining experience. However, overall, I absolutely love this place! I highly recommend dining in inside!

Google
Good soup oxtail noodle. So much oxtail portion. Flavorful and good slurp, chili oil on point. Fj taste a ten.

Google
This place has great food and great service. It is like most restaurants around this area, you pay and then get your food. No tipping is required, you just eat and then leave. They will help you clean up after.

UPDATE: I got some kind of food poisoning and was sick for 3 days. Don't do it and hopefully they'll see this review and make some serious changes. Original POST: "the dumplings made me ill. I'm feeling it the NEXT DAY. I asked for recommendation for handmade noodle w/ beef but not soup, and they gave me boiled beef, noodles and not sauce. I tasted terrible and dumped it. I'm all about supporting local spots but damn not good. I would keep it moving."

Yelp
Oxtail noodle soup is so good here. Gives lots of meat and is flavorful and chili oil is on point. Shouldve asked for bak choy tho these reg spinach is not very fitting with my bowl of noodless.

Yelp
Convenient place. Oxtail noodle soup was okay, could have used more meat but maybe I'm just not used to oxtail. The standard beef noodle soup is the way to go. Fantastic noodle quality. Their dumplings are also very good!

Yelp
I always get their noodle soup from here. It's it quickly and efficient. I usually go for #1 which has all the different parts of the beef and a hard boil egg. The broth is good. Make sure to add veggies on the table to add smokiness to the broth. And hot oil for the heat. This place is good for a quick solo dining, no need to give tips. The environment is simple, tables, seats and menu on the wall.

Yelp
A small place in Brooklyn with mostly locals from around the area. They only accept cash and the only way to order is by calling them or walking in. Can't find Wong Wong Noodle Shop on any mobile food ordering app, unfortunately. Fortunately, they do have English menus and are able to understand orders in English. Even now, it's always crowded inside so I only order to go. But everything is super fast-paced and the people who do stay and eat in a group are super loud. Everything is super affordable, so can't complain. It's much like a food court, they have actual seating, but don't really acknowledge you and want you to take care of everything yourself except for preparing and bringing out the food. Nonetheless, their noodle soups are super cozy, simple, and delicious, so great for quick-cheap-eats or take-out.

Yelp
I got the beef hand pulled noodle soup, beef chow noodle, seafood chow noodle, and pig intestine flat knife noodle soup. Big portions of noodles here and they are good! Have a slight bouncy, chewy texture to them and the orders are pretty big! Cash only!!!! I used to always get the beef hand pulled noodle soup and that always hits the spot with its light yet rich broth along with plentiful noodles and thinly sliced rice along with some bok choy. The soup dishes also come with a small portion of pickled vegetables that add even more flavor to the soup dish so I recommend to try adding it in and see if you like it. This time I tried the pig intestine flat noodle dish and the noodles are thick so that got me full quick and they also gave me a good amount of pig intestines! You can also call ahead and order to come pick so super convenient!

Yelp
Small place with hand pulled noodle soups and stir fry noodles. Locals filled the seats wall menu in Chinese only but takeout menu in English. Try the noodle soup with the hot oil and preserved muster greens for contrasting flavours. Loved the lamb noodle soup, ox tail noodle soup, all beef noodle soup (their most popular dish).

Yelp
Here for a Friday night date food pick up Super affordable noodle and they are delicious. It's best you speak some Chinese but pointing works just as well. The place is not pick up only from 10 am to 7pm. So sad we have to settle for that. They used to have 5 or more employees here but now just 2 guys owners. No line so come help this spot out.

Yelp
Roaming around 8th Avenue and wanted a snack. Dumplings on 8th Ave? Sure! But I only wanted from Wong Wong! We love their leek pork dumplings so decided to get their cabbage pork dumplings. They only have 2 styles dumplings both being boiled. They taste just as juicy and flavorful but we liked the leek pork more. Still.. memorable dumplings.....

Yelp
Ordered stir fry noodle with eggs. The noodles were so hard. Look like uncooked and raw.

Yelp
Setup for the COVID climate. This now takeout/outdoor eating establishment gives you a great value for your money. A tasty broth with a healthy helping of soup, veggies and the protein of your choosing. Dumplings, noodle dishes and appetisers are also available. I enjoyed a nice bowl of soup, with Shanghai Bok choy and roast duck. The $7 bowl had pieces of beautifully roasted duck with a hint of sweetness, that paired well with the salty soup broth. Another great Sunset Park value.

Yelp
This is a no frill hand pulled noodle shop. You go to the counter and put in your order & pay. You grab a seat and the food comes out usually in minutes. There are condiments on some of the tables you can use. After you finish eating, someone will usually come pick it up. I typically order the beef hand pull noodle soup. If you want the chewier type of noodles where they pull off bits of the noodle, you'll want to order from the "peel noodle" side of the menu. The interesting thing is that I don't think there is an expectation to tip here.

Yelp
Wong Wong Noodle Shop OVERALL: 7.3/10 It used to be better, got a little worse now maybe because of all the customers, but this is one of the most famous noodle shops in Chinatown 8th avenue. FOOD: 7.3/10 Everything there is almost the same! Used to be better, but is still good now. The dumplings are must haves... I'd recommend the beef tendon or any beef related noodle soups. Maybe bring a spoon yourself cuz they got the tiny spoons... You not getting any soup with it. SERVICE: not a service place. CLEANLINESS: 6.7/10 Man this is street food. ATMOSPHERE: 10/10 Busy workers vibe, in and out. Eat your noodles 1 2 3 . Vanish. #noodles #food #review #yelp #chinese #nofilter

Yelp
Great local spot. They used to have some crack addicting pork leek dumplings but they change the recipe after COVID :( They are still good but not as yummy. Miss them! The noodles are fresh but the broth lacks in flavor. The pb noodles are cheap and can feed two ppl! Which is a plus. Overall, will come back !

Yelp
This noodle shop is my definition of quick and delicious comfort food. I usually come here after work and the flavors are always consistent. My favorite dishes are the braised beef brisket Ho fun, beef hand-pull noodle soup, noodles with peanut butter.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and they sent a woman worker with with orange dyed hair. After i paid with $3 tip too, she said out loud in a rude and nasty way while walking away, "get your own food next time". What in the freaken heck? She got a problem with amount of tip I give for her to walk only 1 walk ? Or Just that she hates her life? Btw this is the 3rd time they messed up my order and Oh yea she spilled the soups in the bag.

Yelp
Sometimes I get sick of the good neighborhoods and the sometimes compartmentalized way of life. Times like these, 8th Ave Brooklyn is a welcome relief. It reminds me of nyc before the gentrification, the hordes of tourists and the corporate takeover. This noodle shop could be considered grimey by well to do suburbanites. A tupplewear of pickled mustard green is passed around between tables and everybody shares adding some to their soup noodles. People eat with plastic disposable spoons and takeout chopsticks. They don't serve you a drink when you sit down. Nobody tips. Service is prompt but not touchy feely. Most of the customers appeared to me as 8th Avenue locals. I could hardly even spot any affluent bridge and tunnel Chinese peeps eating here (after street parking their Lexus suv of course). This wasn't the type of place you wonder regarding their sanitary practices or whatever. You block those thoughts out and rely on your instincts when presented with the food. The beef noodle soup was really delicious. This place serves Lan Zhou style Chinese food, which is famous for its beef noodle soup. Noodles were cooked perfectly and very elastic. I don't think the noodles were hand made on the spot but still good. The beef was tender and flavorful. In sure they have a giant pot of meat simmering in the back and marinating flavor into it continuously. The place is very busy which made for really fresh food. The tupplewear of mustard greens tasted pretty fermented which actually to me was a good thing. The pork steamed dumplings were very legit too. I sometimes question the meat quality of dumpling shops but it tasted good and it was fully cooked. They had interesting things on the menu including rabbit noodle soup. Maybe next time... Or not. Prices were amazing. 6.50 for a delicious noodle soup and 3.50 for dumplings. I didn't like that they default to serving your hot soup noodles in a plastic disposable tupplewear. You can request a metal bowl instead. I wouldn't eat here every day but once in awhile hits the spot. Especially if you are trying to escape the burbs for the day.

Yelp
Perfect place for a nice, flavorful, hot, and cheap noodle soup. VH and I came here on a cold Saturday afternoon in October, lured by the steady stream of customers: this place sounded good. They serve two kinds of noodles: hand-pulled or peel (which are kind of flat and thin). They have quite a large selection of soups, about 20 per kind of noodle. We had the ox tail with hand-pulled noodles ($5), and the pig intestine with the peel noodle ($4.5). They were both really good, and of generous size. Definitely Wong Wong Noodle Shop was a nice and pleasant discovery. They have a very limited drink selection, so to speak, and they don't serve tea. The bathroom is not scary...

Yelp
Quick, cheap, hot, yummy, satisfying comfort food! Loved the beef stew in my peel noodle soup! It was very flavorful. And don't forget to add the hot sauce if you can take it ;) Totally would go back!

Yelp
Decent hand pulled and carved noodles here and very cheap prices too.. I think about $5 a bowl of beef noodles. There is a spot near kitchen where the chef makes the noodles right in front of the customers and I always like to go there to watch. The beef noodle soup is flavor and savory, you can add unlimited amount of condiments available on each table, parsley and pickled veggies. It's very satisfying as you fight your random communal neighbors for the last bit of parsley left in a container on the table.

Yelp
$4 Hand pulled vegetable noodle soup was good. Tea soaked egg. My friend had the duck soup and had good reviews. Chill spot.

Yelp
Good spot if you're looking for a quick bite or craving beef noodle soup. The atmosphere is very much come-and-go (you will see a lot of people eating by themselves - probably because they are also looking for a quick cheap bite). I ordered the beef stew with knife cut noodles. Very decently sized for $6. The broth wasn't too bland nor too salty. The beef chunks were tender, well-seasoned, and flavorful, which is something I can't say for beef slices I find in pho. My guess is that the beef here was marinated separately from the broth. I recommend adding chili peppers to make the broth spicy. Pickled vegetables and cilantro are also available on the table for you to add according to your personal taste. The pickled vegetables look a little weird at first glance but I promise it gives the broth an extra kick. Not much to say about the service. Again, don't expect much given the extremely fast-paced and casual atmosphere. That said, you don't need to tip. And expect to pay for the food the same time you order.

Yelp
I've become a regular here. The food is great. Like coming home to grandma for food. Everything is healthy and boiled. Love the flavors here.

Yelp
Love their wonton soup fuzhou style & peanut butter noodles. Tried their hand pulled ox tail noodles and they basically gave me no meat, all bones, I don't recommend that dish here.

Yelp
Best "Hand Pulled" Noodle Shop in Brooklyn, in fact I don't know any other "Hand Pulled" Noodle Shop in Brooklyn. I Love coming to this gem on 8th Ave, located in Brooklyn's "China Town". This establishment is very small, nothing fancy, just a few seats and freshly made-to-order hand pulled noodles. The menu is pretty extensive but most menu option consists of Noodles with something, either stir fried, sautéed or in soups, which Is good because I Love noodles prepared any which way, especially noodles that are freshly made to order... by hand! I am a weirdo, I don't even order off the menu anymore, I just order any type of combination that I can create in my sick little brain, I order Noodles with Beef Stew & Beef Tendon, with a Fried egg on top, their menu already consists of crazy menu options like Pigs intestine, Fish Balls, Pigs feet, along with other regular menu options such as chicken, beef, pork, etc, but I try to order multiple things at once, creating one unique dish that my taste buds usually thank me for after. Wong Wong's also has freshly Made Dumplings at 10 for $3, it's a steal! I always order more than I could eat at Wong Wong's, since it's so inexpensive, you and up to 3 friends can easily eat well, order drinks, and include a tip, all for under $20. I recommend Wong Wong's for anyone looking for some freshly made Hand Pulled noodles... sautéed or in soups. Yummy!

Yelp
I used to love coming to this place for some hand pulled noodles. For any typical Fujianese owned restaurant, especially on 8th avenue, I don't expect service to be spectacular. You walk in and sit wherever you find empty seats. You might have to share a table with someone if it's a busy afternoon or dinner time. This place to me does not ever look clean. Their cilantro bowls they have laying around at tables have lids covering them BUT I have seen people using their own utensils that they put in their mouths already to take the cilantro out of the bowls. Like people are so disgusting and inconsiderate. Nobody wants to eat a strangers saliva. Gross. One time I came here for dinner and that was my last time ever. A guy came in (who clearly had some type of issues) was spitting on the floor and table. The staff didn't even bother to wipe it down or mop it. I felt so disgusted. I am only giving this place two stars because I love their beef stew hand pulled noodles, but I need a place to be clean and hygienic!

Yelp
8th Avenue's Chinatown doesn't have the vast diversity of hand pulled noodles that Flushing's Chinatown have but over the last few years, a small collection of competing hand pulled noodles specialty restaurants that have opened up around this neighborhood. Wong Wong Noodles is one of the older ones. The restaurant is nothing fancy. Just a mish mash of bare white walls, cheap wooden tables and chairs, and a giant yellow menu on the wall that is all in Chinese. Don't let that deter you from walking in here as they do have paper menus with English as well. Just be aware that most of the people working here speaks mandarin so some pointing at the menu might be in order if you don't speak the dialect. They have table service here. Order and pay at the cashier, then sit down at an open spot in any table and they will bring the noodles to you when it's done. Don't be afraid to sit next to a stranger since they don't have private tables here. For anyone dining in, despite the table service, no tips are expected. No really. I'm not being cheap. They actually have a sign by the door that states this fact. Don't see it? Yeah, neither did I since it's in Chinese only but no one else around did during my time eating here, and one of my friends that does read Chinese told me that's what the sign out front said. The noodles are hand pulled in the back when ordered so it have a nice chewiness to them. The broth is light, beefy tasting, and flavorful enough to compliment the noodles. I ordered mine with oxtail, and although the quality of the meat was good, they were a bit skimpy on the amount given and it could be meatier. The soup also comes with a small amount of bok choy swimming in the broth. I highly suggest you take advantage of a container of pickled preserved vegetable that you have to ask for. Not sure how you'll do that is you don't speak mandarin but mime it if you have to. I have provided a photo of it in the tips section of this business on Yelp if you need to know what it looks like. Maybe show them the photo if you have a smartphone but do get it to go with your soup. Not an ox tail fan? They carry noodles with many different meat toppings.a few examples with be steak, duck, lamb, intestines, and even rabbit. The prices for these varies but they run anywhere from $4 to $6. Pretty cheap. Although I had only the noodles this time, I saw that many people ordered the steamed dumplings here. It's only $3 for 10 and something I'll look into the next time I'm here. So why a 3 if I like the place? Although good, I can't give it higher because I know there are places that are more deserving of 4 and 5 stars for hand pulled noodles in Flushing and in Manhattan. But until I get to those places again, this will tide me over easily. 3.5 stars then.

Yelp
Hand-pulled noodles is known as La Mian in Chinese, where noodles are made by hand, by the pulling technique that I'm no expert about. This is a no frills hand-pulled noodle shop in Brooklyn's Chinatown, mid-sized, spacious, fast food type of place, with enough seating. I had the classic beef hand-pulled noodles. After placing my order, I turned my attention to the noodle master and watched the small piece of dough transformed into a handful string of noodles, which was ready in a flash for only $4.50 and it's freshly made by hand when you order! Broth is rich in flavors, tender noodles, with beef slices, bok choy, and minced preserved vegetables, delicious!

Yelp
LEGIT STUFF HERE MAN. No fuss family run restaurant that serves up some mean hand pulled noodles. i got the ox-tail hand pulled noodles and the fuzho styled dumplings and shared it with my momma today. The soup for both dishes were on point! Not too heavy but strong on flavor. The soup didn't make me feel like I needed to down a gallon of water to get the salt out of my system. The noodles are hand pulled in the store so its bound to be fresh and chewy. This place is pretty much a sit down, take your order, eat your food kind of place. Decor would be a 0 star rating here but for the food alone, I give this place 4 solid stars because it's a no fuss good home food kinda joint. If you're around 8th avenue and hungry, skip the Vietnamese food and come visit this place. It's pretty tasty and the bill only came out to $8. No tip required and they take your bowls away when you're done. SCORE! Happy eating !

Yelp
Great place for soup noodles if you want to eat something quick. They have delicious beef noodles. my favorite is the duck hand pulled noodles and dumplings. There's no need for a tip but you don't get much service as well. Food is served in plastic bowls and customers use plastic utensils.

Yelp
I am so, so disappointed. Wong Wong Noodle Shop has been one of my favorites for a really long time. I loved the transparency of the noodles' freshness, the taste of the delicious broth, the various types (pork belly, beef, mixed beef which includes tripe and stuff, oxtail, mmm), and the awesome shareability & cheapness of the meal. When I came home for break, my mom got me some to-go when I was at home, and it was alright - not as great as I remembered, but I thought it suffered from the delivery. Unfortunately, I went again today; the first thing I noticed was that the price had gone up 50 cents. Nbd. After all, it's super delicious! Totally worth it ... not. I only realized when I tasted the soup, which tasted pretty artificial. It was reminiscent of ramen soup packets, but lighter (in flavor, not in color). I saw powdery residue at the bottom of my bowl. The noodles were still pretty fresh-tasting, but the soup as a whole was just really disappointing. :( I don't know if I'll come back.

Yelp
Usually get their fishball soup or beef stew noodle soup. Divey restaurant where you pay first, then sit, then eat, and don't need to tip. It gets busy here and expect to share tables. Their dumplings are quite good also! They sell a whole bag of 50 for $12 that you can pan fry at home which I think tastes the best.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by here to get a beef stew noodle soup and it was delicious! The soup smelled really good. The noodles were perfectly chewy and springy. The pickled vegetables were very homey and unique. Pretty good for $6.50.

Yelp
My location of choice for hand-pulled noodles in Brooklyn. Whenever I am starving and I don't know what to eat, I know I can sit down here and enjoy a cheap, fast meal. I walk in, order, and my food is ready in five minutes. I usually order the beef hand pulled noodles soup ($6) along with some dumplings on the side ($4?). The soup is hot and rich in flavor, comes with an adequate amount of meat, and the noodles are pretty good. It gets really crowded in here, so I recommend against going here if you have a large group. Don't be surprised if you have to sit next to or across from strangers. Be courteous of other people and eat fast, as there are usually people standing waiting for tables. This isn't a place where you can sit down and chat with your friends for hours. I usually leave them a small tip, even though it's not necessary. Definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
Don't get the clam noodles... they were full of sand or dirt and the shells broke into the noodles so I was basically eating clam shells and sand with the noodles
google avatar

Yelp
This place is one of those awesome hole in the wall spots that serves good food fast and it's cheap. Their specialty is freshly made hand pulled or hand peeled noodles in a delicious mild soup broth. They don't have much else so if you're not in the mood for soup I'd steer clear.

Yelp
My dad wanted some warm food because it was a rainy cold day so we chose to go to this place since I've never tried hand pulled noodles before. Needless to say when we walked in, there was nobody to greet us so we basically sat ourselves down. This place is not restaurant. It's more like a fast food joint. The tables and chairs are a bit old and musty and the place could use some cleaning up but that's just my fantasy. The place serves a variety of noodles with a soup base. They serve two kinds of noodles: the hand pulled kind and the peel noodles. I wasn't sure what the latter was at first by my father explained to me that it starts out as a ball of dough in which they scrape it down with a knife into little thin pieces which will be the noodles. When I got there I was starving so I ordered the Seafood hand pulled noodles and my father ordered the lamb and beef peel noodle. The food arrived in sufficient time which was about 15 minutes. I was a bit worried that the noodle was served in a plastic bowl because I know how hard it is to wash off the oil from plastics and isn't it a bit hot to put in a plastic bowl? The good part about the noodle from view was that you can barely smell any MSG at all so I just assumed the MSG level must be low. It was from this experience that I learned that I'm not a huge fan of hand pulled noodles. The soup base was as the Chinese would call it "mama de" or just okay. I wasn't crazy about the seafood that came with it. There were three shrimps and about five clams with shells. There were three shrugs of bok choy for flavoring and color. My fathers noodle was also served in the plastic bowl with chunks of beef and lamb meat. My father complained that the peel noodles were undercooked and that the soup base was just "mama de." Maybe I'm just not a fan of hand pull noodle or maybe it was just the soup base their noodles were made of but this experience was just enough for me to say it's not my thing but feel free to differ.

Yelp
I was feeling pretty sick this past weekend, and we were in the area looking for a good noodle shop to help ease my cold and stumbled on this place. I was curious about it before, but never had the courage to step inside. I am an ABC, and at times, places that are only filled with Chinese people intimidate me. But, on the other hand, my chest was really congested, and I needed a hot soup to make me feel better. We sat down and ordered the ox tail hand pulled noodle soup and also the pig intestine peel noodle soup. Both were excellent! Both soups had bok choy and also a Fukinese-style fish ball in it. Not to mention, for such a large dish of soup, each were only $5. What a steal! It really hit the spot on a cold rainy Saturday afternoon ;-)

Yelp
I'm a big fan of all types of noodles with a soup base and am always venturing to find that hidden hole in the wall gem of an establishment. For the most part I've been a bit successful with findings but that streak came to end when I patronized this place. So this place offered the hand pulled noodles and peel noodles, I opted for the pork chop and hp noodles soup. Immediately the color of the pork chop raised a red flag and the flavoring reinforced my concerns! Setting aside the pc, the soup base bland (need a few sprays of sriracha) and the noodles were on the doughy side. I also ordered the dumplings (siu jao) which upon my first bite revealed meat that seemed undercooked, it was reconfirmed upon my second bite of another dumpling. With a unfinished and unsatisfying meal I opted for the check. What I failed to realize was not only did I leave with a bad taste but also left with food poisoning which I paid for the next 2 days! Sooooo Noodle Soup lovers BEWARE!!!

Yelp
Pretty good noodles - quick and fresh (you see the person pulling the noodles). Staff are friendly or rush you to order, depending on the days and hours, but the orders come out pretty quickly. All orders are in a small plastic bowl but with so much flavor (like, MSG level flavor). Still pretty good with the ingredients, I like the pork chops, fishballs, shrimp, and veggies combinations. Overall, good place for quick food on the cheap. Easily locatable with the bright awning.

Yelp
truly a great dive spot! Go in, Order, pay first, sit, food will arrive in less than 5 minutes. No tip required. Be ready to sit next to strangers that seem like they just came from China. lol If you like Noodles this is the spot to go to. In soup or stir fry, either way it taste pretty darn good. I usually start with the FJ fishball soup ( fishball with pork in middle), add some cilantro, white vinegar, fish sauce and I feel like im back in FJ. Then onto the noodles, I usually order the house special noodle soup with tea egg (also have fried egg) and extra veggies. comes with different kinds of soy sauce stewed meat and soup, add some cilantro again and im diving in! they have a variety of meats with soup that can arouse anyone's pallete such as pig feet, pork shoulder, rabbit, and a whole bunch of other stuff. they also have wonton noodles with peanut sauce. its decent but I make it much better so i dont get that here. Hope you enjoy some noodles like i do! place has good amount of seats but often gets packed by locals, young, old and ME!

Yelp
"Do you think I ate too many noodles?" I ask my friend as I slurped down the last gulp. "Uhhh...." His delayed silence spoke volumes as I felt my girth widening as the noodles settled in my stomach. Carb bomb! Anyway, they say noodles are good for a long life, so I comforted myself with this idea. Beef Chow noodles with a side of steamed dumplings is the way to go. They said they don't have fried dumplings which made me a little sad. Cash only. Fast service. Good amount of seating. And cheap.

Yelp
This place is not the fancy noodles place...No, it is actually very ghetto. People are yelling and you may need to share your table with strangers (which is a pet peeve of mine). However, the hand pulled noodles are so fresh and the broth is so tasty! Please add the cilantro and pickled veggies on the table, because they do make a difference! You can watch the guy pulling the noodles in the corner and you know you are getting the real hand pulled noodles. Although this place is loud and obnoxious, I am thinking about bringing my boyfriend here...and teach him a thing or two about real romance, which is good food served in any condition!

Yelp
Came here after Sunset Park's New Year celebrations. It was busy, but it was definitely true what they say about this place. Some of the friendliest service I have ever seen at a Chinese place. The guy greeted everyone, and was super friendly. We ordered the steamed dumplings which were really delicious and large and only $3.50. The fried ones looked good too for $4. I also liked how they had a GIANT container of cilantro just sitting there so you could top off your noodles or dumplings with a bit of extra cilantro. We also got a spare rib noodle soup, which was tasty, as well as a friend noodle with pork. Reminded me like a chow mein. Sadly, I probably won't come here often because it isn't convenient, but I would come back if I was around. A solid cheap choice, huge portions, friendly service, and lots of cilantro. win.

Yelp
Honestly, it was good. It was very inexpensive, tasty, and not dry. I am a customer that have been to the restaurant a lot of times. Test it out yourself but it's really busy at 1-4PM in the afternoon and the other times it really isn't that busy. Your food will be ready within minutes.

Yelp
i can't really say this is the best noodles i have had but it was decent. the noodles was chewy. the soup is not really as flavorful as I wanted. i got the beef noodle soup. I wanted more broth and beef flavors. it was on the lighter side. probably won't go back again. but it was less than 6 dollars (or something like that). they were quick with the order.

Yelp
Wong Wong was one of those places that I went to on a recommendation. I took his word on it, and I had no regrets. Do not expect the frills and the frou-frou (as with most of the restaurants on 8th Ave) - they do not need it. The method is simple - order from the menu at the counter, grab a table, await bowl of noodles (it doesn't take long), eat said noodles. With that, service is actually not applicable here. Even though they speak Mandarin Chinese, they do understand English (just be patient). My bowl o' noodles (spare rib hand-pulled) was delicious, to say the least. The broth started a bit bland, but it's nothing Sriracha, pickled veggies, and vinegar couldn't fix. After that, I couldn't get enough of the "al dente" noodles and generous portion of spare ribs (had a nice pile of bones afterwards) - with that comes value (about $5.50/bowl averaged). I (and my wallet) left happy. Verdict: I can see this place becoming one of my regular spots. EASY.

Yelp
They either use a lot of salt and msg or ramen soup packets for the broth. Some times after eating all my noodles I will see residue that you see at the bottom of a ramen noodle. They used to have a chief outside making the noodles in a area where customers can see their noodles being made to order. But they stop doing that, makes me wonder if their noodles are still really hand pulled. The lady at the front never smile, she will take her time with her phone before taking an order. The quality just keep going down but the price just keep going up. I would rather walk an extra few blocks to the other hand pull noodle shop in front of the B9 bus station on 60th street. Their broth taste better and you can still see the chief making noodles. You can also see the kitchen where they cook your food.

Yelp
My favorite place for hand pulled noodle soup. The soup base has changed a bit over the years but is still very good. Quick efficient service. Their pork dumplings are so good. We always buy a bag of their frozen dumplings to go.

Yelp
Super cheap, quick, and good place!!! With steller noodles and dumplings. My favorite is the potato ball soup. I have to come back all the time because I'm always craving this soup.

Yelp
It's one of several hand pulled/peel noodles restaurants on eighth ave, but this is the one I usually go for when I want to get hand pulled noodles to go. Decor: It's pretty utilitarian. It's plain and looks clean enough. You have a big version of the menu (in Chinese only) on the wall and menus under the glass that cover the tables. In the back corner near the cash register counter, there's a counter that they use when pulling the noodles. However, unlike the other hand pulled noodle joints around here, you'll only see them pull a new batch of dough if you get lucky. The noodle pulling for individual orders is done in the kitchen, away from view. So if you're coming here to see noodles being pulled, be prepared to be disappointed. Service: Is nonexistent but so is tipping here. You figure out what you want, go to the cash register, order and pay, and either find a seat or get it to go. They bring your food out to you and take your bowl away after you're done and if you want anything else (like a drink from the fridge), then you'll have to go up to the cash register again. They mainly speak Mandarin Chinese but understand English to some extent (easier to order by giving the number of what you want on the menu). Food: I've always liked hand pulled noodles because of their "chewy but not TOO chewy" texture and Wong Wong's noodles don't disappoint. However, the broth used in their noodle soup has been rather inconsistent. I usually end up coming here once a week or so, and sometimes their broth is great. However, sometimes, I get a MSG filled broth that leaves me drinking cup after cup of water for hours. Lately, the broth has been a little bland. I balance that out by dumping loads of the self-served pickled vegetables into the broth. The pickled vegetables are pretty good, have a slight kick of spiciness to them, and best of all, you can add as much as you want for no extra cost. Overall: Three and a half stars (rounded up to four on yelp). Despite the inconsistency of the broth and the increase in prices of some menu items, the generous portions of noodles and pickled veggies has me coming back here over their competitors when I get that craving for hand pulled noodles.
