"Woods, named for owner and brewer Jim Woods, is a small chain of tiny brewpubs spread out from Oakland to the Outer Sunset. Stop by this one, which has a vague chalet theme, for a flight of creative brews including some with Yerba Mate and an empanada or two from El Porteño, the Ferry Building merchant that provides food for hungry patrons." - Lauren Saria, Eater Staff

Somehow this spot feels like a backcountry ranger station or mountain top ski hut. What I’m saying is it’s cozy, simple, understated and completely unique for the area brewery/bar scene. These guys make great beer and wine locally, and empanadas are on point. Look for the ski lift chair out front and escape.

Small, intimate brewery setting with a good selection of craft beers. The herbal varieties were a bit intense in my opinion (watch out for the honey beer) but everything else was quite good and fresh. NOT dog friendly (though if you’re lucky they have a swing for 2 outside where you can sit with a pup, if you don’t mind the road construction outside). Staff was really helpful.

A lovely little place serving their won great beer together with a more weird variety. They offer flights which I recommend you go for. Gets very crowded quickly, as does everything on Polk St. I'll return for their more common styles carrying my growler.

Great beers, amazing empanadas! After hitting a restaurant up the street, we headed down to Woods and got a taster flight and then a pint. While closing out our tab, we decided to pick up a coupld of empanadas for breakfast the following day. What a great beer inspired idea that turned out to be. Heated in the air fryer for 5 minutes, both the chicken and the mushroom treats were so good. We'll be back.

Great small place for a beer and a empanada. The empanadas are the same ones as are in the ferry building. Really great.

Nice micro brew with many drink options. The staff is knowledgeable and pleasant. It has a fun set up like a ski lodge. Stop by when your in the area.

Saved me from hunger with delicious Empanada at 10pm. Felt magical to find good quality snacks at that time of the night 🤌

What a nice pub! Super cool vibe with great local beer and the good staff. I came here once while traveling but if I lived in this area I would visit them everyday. It’s that cool.
