"It’s not easy for a restaurant to be truly unique, but Woodstockholm is doing a good job. The restaurant and adjacent wine bar, located on one of the city’s most inviting green squares, break traditional boundaries in terms of cuisine, and the dynamic menu, which takes various themes as inspiration, changes every month or two. Find a seat at the bar or one of the communal tables, then peruse your options for local, organic, and seasonal produce from small-scale producers. Past themes have included takeaway, trains, the ’90s, dim sum, the Alps, astrology, Thailand, renaissance, below the surface, and Salvador Dalí." - Per Styregård

"A compact bistro owned by a group of friends, who set up a furniture making business and now use the bistro to showcase their products. Cooking follows a theme which changes every two months – perhaps a country, a style of food or a famous chef – and the rustic small plates are simple yet full of flavour." - Michelin Inspector

We visited July 21, 2023… and just today my wife and I were discussing our favourite dinning experience ever. Woodstockholm was the first answer for the both of us. We brought both of our kids, and the server suggested they divide a meal between them which was thoughtful and worked perfectly. He walked the four of us through the menu and the inspiration behind it while including the kids in every step. The theme at the time was trains and the toy trains added a sprinkle of joy for my children. The food was outstanding, but many reviews cover that… it’s the energy of the space. My eldest was wearing a Nirvana t-shirt and so the staff through their Nevermind vinyl on. To think, it’s been a year and a half since our visit… and I can recall the entire experience like it was yesterday. Please come try this marvellous restaurant out for yourself and have a lovely time!

This restaurant is brilliant. Changing food themed around a story or history. Each course is carefully crafted to reflect the theme. The servers tell the story behind each course and these are illustrated in the decor of the venue and through the vinyl playing. They do cater for gluten free and lactose free, but you will need to check between each course. It's a small and cosy space so be prepared to get chatting to your neighbours. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Chef (×2) are magicians.

Google
Such a wonderful experience overall especially as my partner and I sat by the bar seating watching the kitchen staff prepare the food. Thanks for having us.

Google
The food is really good! I was actually impressed! Great flavors and texture, well composed courses. Also they tell you a story behind every course, I really enjoyed that. The theme was E4 and everything was great! The desserts were not to sweet, perfectly balanced. You must try the Swedish fika, it was one of the best I ever had! Service great and engaged! The atmosphere is ok but we sat at the bar and those bar stools were not nice to sit at for a couple of hours. Really uncomfortable! Also pretty loud! But will definitely come back.

The food was fairly good but we've certainly had some more interesting food experiences during our stay in Stockholm. The service was fine but it seemed they were considerably less talkative with English speaking groups than locals. The place was packed to its limits and very loud and busy to the point that it was annoying. Overall, the experience certainly wasn't bad, but it can be better in this price range.

Google
Woodstockholm feels like a cozy neighborhood restaurant but it is really a destination restaurant. It was highly recommended by friends who live in Stockholm, and the entire meal was simply amazing! We chose the set menu and they were able to adjust one of the dishes for my pescatarian husband. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly and made our dinner an evening experience and not just a meal.

Google
The restaurant is very small, and sitting at the bar next to strangers that scream is not an ideal way to start your evening. Regarding the food (theme pancakes), nice presentation but rather uninteresting flavors and very small portions. We had the four course menu, and that was in no way adequate amount of food. The service was lovely but unfortunately not enough to even it out, we won't be coming back.

Google
Such a creative and lovely restaurant crew! The menu changes every month and they never fail to impress. A lot of story telling into what went into the dishes, incredible food and great wines. Can only recommend

Yelp
Woodstockholm is a very trendy restaurant in the Södermalm area of Stockholm. It is a small restaurant with a large bar in the middle - it probably has space for about 30 people. We were told the food theme changes every 2 months - when we went the theme was an Italian Trattoria which means it was Italian food with a Swedish twist. Excellent creative food with superb attentive service - we had the prix fixe option which included delicious oysters in a butter sauce and the jalapeño arancini, a fermented broth, halibut, pasta agnolotti with sage, and finally pork cheek with pecorino foam and gremolata. And a dessert of mascarpone, Campari and pop rocks. Very delicious and creative.

Yelp
I went here during a trip to Stockholm with my boss and several colleagues. Several other colleagues highly recommended the place to us, so we were excited to try it! We had a 5 pm reservation and met at the restaurant (it started snowing). The spot is in a small space and it fills up fast! During our visit, there was a tasting menu inspired by the Alps and we opted for that (another thing that came highly recommended to us!). In it, we had the Rösti Ditch (smoked arctic char), Soup Attack (with the most delicious onion broth I've ever had), Schnitzel alla Coreano (Korean inspired!), Sauerkraut de la Mere (yum!). Everything was so good and filling, as well as presented so impressively! For dessert, we opted for one of each of the desserts: the Toberlone Gate (so good!), the Apfelstrudel (yum), and the Sound of Music (sour cream sorbet - tastes better than it sounds!) Loved this experience and it lived up to the up. Definitely a must-visit when you're in Stockholm.

Yelp
Outstanding food, great people and a fun location. I've been twice now and each menu has been innovative, fun and delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Dommage.

Susan C.

Yelp
Lovely Tasting menu, the staff was very accommodating for my gluten free sensitivities. They had some unusual things on the tasting menu. All very fun experience. Love the old records they played.

Yelp
I couldn't agree more with many of the 5-Star reviews. The food is very good, but it's the vibe and experience that really sets this restaurant apart. Literature (or books) was the monthly theme when we visited. An entertaining concept and truly engaging servers that bring the experience to life.

Yelp
Cozy and charming restaurant in Mosebacke. We made a reservation on the day of for the evening, and was glad we did so. The restaurant can be pretty busy during evening hours. Our server was pretty chatty and helpful. We opted for 1 vegetarian tasting menu (with 5 courses), and tacked on a few additional dishes as well. It was nice of them to allow us to only order 1 tasting menu between the two of us. Was impressed with the menu, which was themed plant life kingdom. One of the reasons why I loved this restaurant was because of the creativity of the menu as well as their sourcing of local materials. We were told one of the cheeses came from a farm that had existed since the 1500s, one of the garlic bulbs we ate came from someone's local garden... I think everything I ate was delicious (loved the asparagus & cheese, the chilled soup, herring). Also was introduced to (and tried) the alcohol free champagne by Richard Juhlin, which was super delicious! Perfect place for date night/girls night, or small groups.

Yelp
I was very fortunate to get reservations for two! My friend is a foodie who wants her meals to be wondrous sights to behold as well as enticing to the palate. Only the very best meals for her! Everything served here was TINY! We realized this is a place to drink wine and eat tiny plates of appetizers instead of the unique dinner we were hoping for. Nonetheless, service was absolutely outstanding. The servers tasted all the wines before serving to customers. Our own server was genuinely friendly and super passionate about their food. He regaled us with stories about each appetizer we ordered, tho I barely tasted the essence of each dish due to the microscopic size and having to share with my friend.

Yelp
There's an awful lot of hype about this place - one of the new hipster hotspots on Södermalm. And I confess I've only been there once (though heard a lot about friends' experiences too), so I'll have to go back to confirm the five-star rating. But I was impressed! When we went for lunch on a Friday afternoon, the place was packed, but we were still able to find a nice little spot in the window to sit and eat. It was remarkably busy and yet the waiter didn't seem stressed; he made us feel welcomed and was very helpful. The food was out of this world. There were only two options on the menu, one meat and one veg, but with food like that, who needs more? They also really know their wine. I ordered the meat dish but I prefer white wine, so the waiter came and explained his choice of white wine, what he would recommend to compliment the specific flavors, etc. For a candlelit dinner I would expect that kind of service - for a busy lunchhour I was impressed indeed. My only complaint is that the restaurant should be bigger so more people can partake of its awesomeness!

Yelp
I can not recommend a meal at Woodstockholm enough. It is not a typical "foodie" restaurant. The atmosphere, during peak service, is more like a packed pub- communal tables and a small bar fill the tiny dining room, music plays loudly from a (vinyl) record player, and you must push your way in. But once you are in and settled, you are guaranteed to have an incredible experience. The restaurant has a rotating "theme" that the menus, soundtrack and drinks are inspired by- "film" being the current theme that we enjoyed. We opted for the set menu, modified pescatarian. I have been lucky to have meals at so many phenomenal restaurants, and without a doubt, Woodstockholm holds its own with the best. Each dish, small in size, was complex, delightful, and left you wanting more- luckily, they just kept coming, and by dessert, we felt very satisfied. I couldn't help but wipe clean every drop of each dish- including some sauce that spilled onto our table! The meal was truly inspiring and the atmosphere was unpretentious, welcoming and cozy.

Yelp
I was in Stockholm from New York City last weekend with some friends and we wound up, through recommendations from other excellent restaurants, trying out Woodstockholm. Wow is probably the best word to describe our entire experience! I had one of the very best meals of my entire life, and certainly the best I've had in many, many years. I'm gluten-free and vegetarian, and the chef put together a spectacular menu for me, off-the-cuff. My friends ate a number of dishes off the regular menu, and they were equally impressed. Every single person in the restaurant was incredibly helpful and kind, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was exceptional. It looks like I'll be traveling to Stockholm again soon as I don't think I can go too long without eating here!

Yelp
It´s been a while since I have been blown away by a meal like tonight. Truly awesome. I was told it had gotten good reviews so my expectations were high, but it was much better than expected. Original, flavourful and with some excellent wine choices. The seating is communal and I thought a little tight initially but once the food was there I forgot all about it. I will go back

Kathryn M.

Yelp
This place is really something special. Charming atmosphere, great wines, excellent, inventive food that's masterfully prepared and considers not only flavor, but also complementary textures. The waitstaff was also knowledgeable and friendly. If I lived in Stockholm, I'd want to eat here all the time!

Yelp
Woodstockholm serves more than just good food. They have menus with certain themes and the thoughts behind them are always interesting to listen to. However, sometimes I feel a bit lured by the storytelling and the beautifully plated food and I think that I forget the flavor experience. Some times the dishes are excellent some times they aren't and I tend to let Woodstockholm get away with it. I'm not sure that's a good thing but I like it and the super friendly crew is always helpful and generous.

Pontus J.

Yelp
A five-course, perfectly prepared, tasting menu. Not too expensive. Cozy. Perhaps a little too close to one's fellow diners if privacy is important. They have themes that define the menu. We experienced "Vilse i växtriket" in May 2016, which entailed a completely vegetarian evening.

Yelp
Ever had dinner in a furniture store? Woodstockholm is a restaurant located in Stockholms Södermalm on the iconic Mosebacke square. It is not a furniture store as such, it is more of a showroom. To be honest, it looks like a normal restaurant, it was more of a savvy start for the review to bring forth that the company behind the restaurant is a design furniture store. And yes, they do use their own designs in the space. The restaurant focuses on ecological food and wine. We were at Woodstockholm to celebrate my birthday, so we went for a full tasting menu and a full flight of wines. In this case I actually don't mean a ready selected wine menu, but rather the sommelier helped us find a wine-partner for each course. We started of with some Dhont-Grellet Champagne, a nice toasty aperitif. The price was very reasonable for being Stockholm, only 110 SEK for a glass. With the starters, salmon, tartar and egg, we both chose Austrian wines, a field blend from Vienna and a Grüner Veltliner. Both were nice and crispy. For main we had duck paired with some truly interesting reds. I had a red Bourgogne made by Koji Nakada, a Japanese man who moved to France to make wine. The wine was velvety and elegant, perfect with juicy duck meat (the main). My date had a red from Mikael Boutin, a mechanic turned winemaker. I love it when the restaurant adds some information on the wine, something beyond the grape, area and method. The story of the winemaker often appeals to me when choosing a wine. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant. However it being Friday evening and all, the space was fully packed and the staff slightly stressed. We were a bit concerned in the start if they had lost our reservation (the waiter looked at us a bit nervously and it took some time before we were seated. Service, when we finally got some, was extremely friendly. Woodstockholm is definitely a place worth visiting if you are in Stockholm. A reservation is highly recommended and be prepared to share the table with others. We were seated in the same communal table as two other parties, but it did not really bother us. Price range is reasonable for being Stockholm and the wines were awesome!

Yelp
Our hotel set up this reservation for us, and I'm so glad we went. It doesn't feel like a touristy area-- more like where the locals would go. In fact, the place is so tiny that we shared a table with a Swedish couple celebrating a birthday. We really enjoyed chatting with them. I would call this a foodie place. We tend to not like foodie places (we're quite picking and I'm a vegetarian), but everything we had was delicious. The menu is limited and changes daily. There were about three options for each category on the menu (i.e., snacks, appetizers, entrees, dessert). We like a variety since we tend to be picky eaters and this is the only reason we give it 4 stars, but foodies will love this place. And, as I said, everything we had was delicious.

Frances R.

Yelp
Woodstockholm was a great restaurant! The food was delicious and creative and the waiters were particularly friendly. We don't speak Swedish and they explained everything to us and helped us navigate the menu and gave great recommendations. I would recommend making a reservation before going.

Silron N.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant because I heard so much about it. Very nice service. Unfortunately I was not so impressed with the food or with the place. Bad ventilation made that we were smelling to food when we came home. The food was just normal, nothing special.

Randall C.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals I have had. Ever. I'm normally a little cautious (some might say picky?) so when the waiter suggested horse tartare as an appetizer, I was hesitant. But am I glad I took the plunge. Served with a horseradish cream with just enough bite and sprinkled with mustard seeds, the dish was outstanding. For the main course, I had pressed pork belly, accompanied by "french toast"--bread soaked in pork blood and cooked until almost burnt. Amazingly flavorful. Overall, the food was inventive and interesting without going over the edge into silliness. Our waiter recommended the perfect wines to accompany each course. And the prices, while certainly not cheap, were far lower than I would pay for similar quality in New York. I wish I were going back to Stockholm so I could go back to Woodstockholm.
