The 16 Best Restaurants & Pubs In The Cotswolds - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"Worton Kitchen Garden should be prescribed for stressed-out, frazzled folk. Guinea fowl scurry along stone paths and well-heeled diners fork meaty venison sausages while gazing out over their own personal, wildflower-strewn patch of farm. Dishes at this idyllic Worton spot—hearty, seasonal, British-leaning—look like they’ve tumbled straight out of a country kitchen cookbook. You’ll leave feeling blissful, and maybe a bit tipsy, because their white rioja is very gluggable and complaining about new builds is thirsty work." - sinead cranna

Worton Kitchen Garden - Review - Worton - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"Worton Kitchen Garden should be prescribed for stressed-out, frazzled folk. Guinea fowl scurry along stone paths at this idyllic spot in Worton, and well-heeled diners sip spritzes while gazing out over their own personal, wildflower-strewn patch of farm. The dishes—hearty, seasonal, modern British—look like they’ve tumbled out of a country kitchen cookbook. While not everything hits (the grains in particular lack some flavour), you’ll leave feeling blissful. And maybe a bit tipsy, because their white rioja is very gluggable and complaining about new builds is thirsty work. The best seats are in the Beatrix Potter-looking glasshouse, where chef Simon can stroll straight out of the kitchen, glass in hand, prop himself up on your table and ask how everything's going. Order the crackling and your answer will be “extremely well”. photo credit: Worton Kitchen Garden photo credit: Worton Kitchen Garden photo credit: Sinéad Cranna photo credit: Worton Kitchen Garden Pause Unmute Food Rundown Globe Artichoke With Hollandaise This artichoke arrives whole and we can confirm that it’s quite flirty to have a ‘one for you, one for me’ situation happening over the tender petals. They’re good, but really they’re a vegetal vehicle for that thick, creamy hollandaise. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Crackling With Apple Sauce No notes. This is what pig skin perfection looks like—bubbly and blistered, with lashings of salt and a light airy texture that doesn’t trouble your gums. If you’re ordering for the table, get a few. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Loquat, Endive, Walnut And Stichelton Salad The kind of salad that would shake a caesar by the shoulders and say “grow up.” It’s bitter, and even the juicy loquat doesn’t offer much sweetness. We like the unapologetic boldness of that, though, especially paired with the blue cheese funk of the Stichelton. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Roast Cod, Beluga Lentils And Wild Garlic Perfectly cooked, flaky fish and a tangle of wild garlic is a very good thing. Like all the grains we tried, the lentils are a bit lacking, though. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Venison And Pork Sausages With Coco Beans A sausage large and meaty enough to make you blush. Sausages are made in-house using their own Worton Saddleback and it’s delicious. The beans, however, could use more seasoning. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Sri Lankan Crown Prince Curry Gently spiced and comforting, this is the kind of curry you want to curl up with on a cold night. The crown prince squash is nutty and sweet. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna" - Sinéad Cranna

We went here for a late lunch at 3, which was one of the only places open during that time. After a friendly phone call we made our way to this little gem. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL! Lovely little bits to discover with so many nice flowers and fruits tree organically growing! We sat in the glass house by the back garden and enjoyed some lovey fermented vegetables from the garden as a starter with their homemade, excellent rye bread! For main we had the pork shoulder vindaloo which was super aromatic and tasty! Having loved the experience so far we also had the lovely tart tartin as a dessert! Simon the owner was super friendly and we had a little chat about the history of the place! Would definitely happily stop by again!

We had an amazing experience here for my grandmother’s 80th birthday party. The owner, Simon, is very charismatic and made my grandmother laugh more than she has in years! The chef, a young woman named Cailen, is incredibly talented - she made the most buttery and light roast plaice! Our beautiful waitress, Eliza, was very sweet and attentive, with an excellent knowledge of the menu and wine list. Another lovely waitress, Emma, kindly showed us around the gorgeous grounds to see the guinea fowl - the cutest things ever!! Will definitely be coming back!! Amazing staff, food and atmosphere!!

Out of this world place serving exquisite organic food by Simon - proof you don’t need a Michelin star to offer the best seasonal and sustainable cuisine. Don’t forget to visit the shop for everything fresh and the rest is pickled, juiced, fermented. Eat your heart out Daylesford! It only I could give this place sox stars.

Incredible farm to table food with the best atmosphere. You’re surrounded by gorgeous flowers all year round, and the staff is so lovely. The roast is the best I’ve ever had - incredibly flavourful, and the portion is very generous. The menu changes seasonally and there are always inventive dishes - somewhere where I would eat absolutely everything on the menu!!

This is the garden of EDEN! 🥰 Absolutely out of this world, the place where you go and you don’t want to leave. Amazing freshly cooked food, fresh fruit and vegetables grown at the farm. If you prefer a totally different experience in terms of food quality and atmosphere, this is the place to go. Enjoy ☺️

A Hidden Gem Worth the Journey Worton Kitchen Garden delivers an experience that goes beyond just a meal. The setting alone makes this place special - stunning surroundings that invite exploration and discovery. The Food Hits the Mark The porridge stands out as genuinely tasty. The sourdough toast shows real quality. You can taste the care in the preparation. Meeting Simon, the owner, added a personal touch. Watching him craft tarts gave insight into the kitchen's dedication. This personal connection makes the visit memorable. The Team Cares Every staff member showed genuine helpfulness and friendliness. Their positive attitude shines through, even when things get busy. Room to Grow The experience had some bumps. Service could flow better with clearer systems. But this feels like growing pains rather than fundamental problems. Worth the Investment Yes, prices reflect the destination nature of this place. You're paying for the complete experience - the food, the setting, the personal touches. The Bottom Line This place has heart. The combination of quality food, beautiful location, and passionate ownership creates something special. The small hiccups don't overshadow the bigger picture. Would I return? Absolutely. Sometimes the best places are the ones still finding their rhythm.

I took my family here back in June for my parents birthdays. The scenery and setting was gorgeous and really pretty- an unusual and different place which is what attracted me to it initially along with its values of using local produce. Unfortunately 3/4 of us opted for the roast which was extremely disappointing. The young waiter seemed a little unsure or nervous and messed up our drinks order. It’s fine, mistakes happen, no worries but then the roast potatoes in our meals were completely rock solid (actually inedible) and we awkwardly had to ask for some new ones. The young lady who came shortly afterwards was lovely and replaced our potatoes though we had to wait a little while for this. The meat was v fatty but the small amount we did get tasted like it was good quality. Perhaps we just got unlucky with what we ordered or roasts aren’t their forte. I left here feeling quite embarrassed as I had suggested it to my family and it really missed the mark. I also ended up paying a hefty price for our meals despite them being sub par. We all agreed that we would come again but only for coffee and cake rather than a meal unfortunately.

Just had our anniversary lunch it was our first time visiting after hearing lots of good things. I had the courgette bruschetta, which was absolutely lovely. Great flavour, and the courgette was nicely charred . My wife went for the gazpacho, which was really refreshing even had a little piece of ice in it that kept it chilled the whole way through, which I thought was a clever touch. For mains, we had the pork vindaloo and the sausage with Coco beans both were full of flavour and really satisfying and wholesome. The chef even came out to tell us a bit about the origins of the vindaloo he'd created, which made it feel a bit more special. Drinks-wise, we had a blackberry vinegar cordial (which was delicious) and a homemade elderflower really refreshing. Afterwards, we had a little wander around the garden, which was a lovely way to round things off. All in all, a great spot with a relaxed atmosphere we’d definitely come back.
