We had the most wonderful time! This was our first year going and I could tell it will not be our last year going. The venues were all fun. The bands were amazing! The beer of course was on point! And all of the food trucks and the wonderful places to eat were wonderful. Love this, it was fun. It was peaceful. It was great. Thanks so much to the city of New Braunfels for sponsoring this event.

So much fun, my family and I enjoyed it. That was our first time at this event, I recommend highly, can’t wait to go next year. However, was a little pricey!

It was a very packed day when we went! Be prepared for massive crowds. It's hard to bring a wagon or stroller for your kids if you go on such a crowded day. We highly recommend the Kindertanzer performance. They are local children from New Braunfels who perform traditional German folk dances. The sausage was quite good, just messy (no napkins).

Super fun. Fun for all. There is great food and beer. Face painting and more for Lil ones. Lots if great music at multiple stages. Fun crowd

Google
Texas's most iconic Oktoberfest, for good reason! Wurstfest honors the town it calls home with an authentically New Braunfels atmosphere and some absolutely amazing food, all in a stunning setting built around the site of a prior canal.

Didn’t think it would be busy during the week, but there were other people that thought the same thing. Had a great time. Loved the music, food and beer! Loved the music by Molly B and Squeezebox.

Google
WurstFest is such a good time! Love the German feel to this festival. The Hill Country in Central Texas is awesome. A must visit. Great Beer, Great Shopping and Great Music and Dancing!

Google
The bestfest! Highly reccomend going on a weekday to avoid crazy crowds. Worth visiting every single year!

Yelp
Another year another WurstFest. I can't say anything else that people haven't already said, but I make the trip from Cali every year and it's a highlight for me. Such a great time. Great food, drinks, and music and the crowds are chill - never have seen any fights or bs. Tip: whatever merch you want, get it quick because things sell out fast and stock is not super huge.

Yelp
Second year attendee and love the experience! Great bands, great beer and fantastic food! Everyone is having such a great time. I did miss the vendor who sold the wooden Christmas ornaments and earrings last year (2023.) I wanted to get different version this year for my tree.

Yelp
Always a great time here, just be sure to get parked early enough or stay at a local hotel (book now). Also nowadays cash isn't needed everywhere, cards are often accepted even for parking. Prost!

Yelp
It was my first time to Wurstfest and it was awesome!! It wasn't super crowded. German beer is always a plus but there were some domestic offerings as well like Michelob Ultra. The food was amazing! And I love to support local and most of the booths are run by local New Braunfels organizations. The Large pretzel in the upstairs of the hall with the restaurant was more than enough to feed 5 people!!! And where else can you get a pitcher of beer and put it in a Pitcher Koozie?!?! Beer is sold by the cup, stein, or pitcher. All the booths take credit or cash. They do sell drink tickets but you can pay with your credit card.

Yelp
It was my first time attending the Wurstfest in New Braunfels! The atmosphere was incredibly festive; with the dances, music, food and drinks. Not a huge fan of German food but the options are endless and perfect for anyone craving German classics. The selection of German and local craft beers is impressive! If you plan to attend next year, one thing to be aware of is that it can get very crowded, especially on weekends, so arriving early is a good idea. Parking can be an issue. Lines can be long, especially for popular food and drink stands, but the festival itself is a lot of joyful! Overall, Wurstfest is a fun and festive way to dive into German culture and try new foods, all while enjoying the spirit of New Braunfels.

Yelp
This was my very first time attending Wurstfest. I went with my friend who has been several times (though not in recent years). I had a blast! It was so super crowded but it was also so well organized! Everything was streamlined from entry to exit and all in-between. Beer lines were long but moved quickly! Same with food lines, etc. This festival is a well-oiled machine. It was so cool getting to see so many authentic live bands, yodeling contests, and more. Next year I wanna do an entire weekend.

Yelp
So I've made a point to go every year, but this we started in the daytime, and honestly, it was just as Fun as just going a night. Daytime Experience: A lil less than 2/3 the normal crowd size, there were still lines for not as long, and they moved fairly quickly! It is a lot easier to maneuver around the fairgrounds and See stuff. Sunset is earlier, so if you get there by 2 or 3pm thats an ideal time to park and walk to the festival. It'll be dark shortly, and you'll get to experience both day & night experiences. Nighttime Experience: Sooo crowded. Energy is high. It's loud and easy to lose your group. Lines for beer, food, & restrooms are ALL long. It's expected and never took away from the overall experience, but if it's your 1st time, you might not enjoy it as much. Best Food (every year might be a lil different but these below are the spots are Always There) -Day Lions Club: Sausage on a Stick. It's actually a sausage wrapped in a tortilla. -Jacees: Bratwurst on Stick -Potato Pancakes were really good! @ Potato Pancakes (only 1 place) -Pork Chop on a Stick...its worth it! (only 1 place) There are lots of sausage and bratwurst vendors, but in my opinion, the 2 listed above are the best in flavor and Snap.

Yelp
06 Nov 2023 Meh. The old covered structure is gone because of the fire a few years back. They have rebuilt and expanded. There are buildings across the river now. One section mimics the food of the state fair. Fried Oreos and Snickers. And there lies the problem... It's way too big now. And too modern. Most of the charm and old world feel is gone. We couldn't find some of the food items we craved, namely the sausage and cheese balls and the etouffee booth. They may have been there; we just couldn't see for all the people. We had a sausage and kraut sandwich and a pork schnitzel sandwich with potato salad. $10 and $12, respectively. Drinks (water and tea) were inexpensive at $2. Later, I had a cheese danish from Nagelins bakery for $4. It wasn't the same, either. Sigh. Parking in the lots right across from the festival entrance is $20 for the Knights of Columbus. It is free Wurstfest admission Monday through Thursday. Saves you about $20 per adult. Get a BOGO coupon online and save some money if you go during the weekend.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday. If you don't like crowds, definitely go early. We were happy because you could buy drink tickets online, but it didn't save any time. You still have to stand in the same line as everyone who did not pre buy to pick up your tickets. Need tickets for drinks. Need card for food. Need different tickets for rides. Parking is more expensive the closer you get. Ranged from $20-40. Take cash for that. Some places did take card but some were just cash. Heard from a friend it was cheaper in the morning. The food was so good. Not bad pricing for the amount you do get. Card accepted. The drinks range in price. Not a ton of variety in beer. See pricing shown in pictures.

Yelp
I had never been to Wurstfest before but my daughter and her husband invited me so I went. I am by no means an expert so these are kind of first impressions. Parking is good but it's going to cost you, this year it cost me $20.00 to park but that's to be expected. I was there on a Sunday and it happened to be the last day of Wurstfest. I got there around noon so there wasn't a huge crowd but it began filling up fast. The weather was extremely warm for November and there wasn't a lot of shady areas. Normally it would have been a lot cooler so sitting in the sun would have been a good thing, but not this year. The grounds where Wurstfest is held are beautiful and spacious. The food that I had was delicious, the potato pancakes, sausage on a stick among other things was very tasty. I recommend you bring your patience because lines can be long and there will probably be more than a few people that drink too much. I didn't encounter anyone that seemed inebriated but I left around 4:00 PM. I imagine people that leave around closing may have a different experience. It's all good, it's all fun. I will go again next year.

Yelp
Been a NB resident for almost 3yrs and I'm ashamed to say this was my first visit to Wurstfest. We went on a Sunday afternoon when it was not too crowded yet. Love the atmosphere. Very festive. I can just imagine how fun it must be at night plus a lot more people. The beer is cold. Fools is pretty good too. My favorites were the pork chop on a stick and the funnel cake. Good food, music, dancing and good company. Im glad we came. By the time we left at 5pm, the place was getting pretty crowded already Fridays and Sundays are BOGO days, so keep that in mind. All in all we had a lot of fun. .

Yelp
We had such a great time. It had been several years since we had been (pandemic and the fire). We forgot how much we missed this German festival. Parking was super easy, parked directly across the street from entrance. It was $20.00. There was no entrance fee due to visiting on a weekday, which was a plus. The beers were extremely high though. $10 dollars for a 12oz cup, $30 dollars for a stein and $40 dollars for a pitcher.

Yelp
Wurstfest in New Braunfels? Man, that place is a blast! Seriously, it's the kind of event where you can't help but have an amazing time. First off, the food is incredible. They've got all these German goodies like bratwurst, sauerkraut, and pretzels that taste like they came straight from Germany. And don't even get me started on the beer - the selection is top-notch, and it's the perfect way to chill out and enjoy the atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, Wurstfest nails it. You walk in, and it's like you've entered a little slice of Germany with all the colorful tents, people in traditional outfits, and a friendly vibe that's hard to beat. The entertainment is killer too. Live music, dance performances, and even a chicken dance contest - it's all about having a great time with friends and strangers alike. Honestly, Wurstfest is the kind of place where you let loose, have a blast, and create some epic memories. I can't wait to go back and do it all over again! I will post pictures as soon as I find them. I have over 10,000 camera roll picture lol

Yelp
I had a great time. Lots of beer and lots of German food. Come on a Mon to Thurs and there is no cover charge. It's still crowded, but not like the weekends. The entertainment is fantastic. One band came in from Bavaria to perform. Spectacular! They engage the audience.

Yelp
I have gone every year for the past 7 years and it never gets old. The music is amazing the food is even better. Don't miss out on the pork chops and potato pancakes! Everyone there is always having a good time. We went on opening night this year and had the best time!

Yelp
Okay y'all! This was my first Wurstfest and it was amazing. We arrived early and got a great parking space across the street and we were in line in minutes. The ease of the metal detectors and bag check was perfect. Pre-ordered tickets scanned and we were in the gate. Headed to easy to reach drink ticket counters for our tickets and the beer next. Everything was clearly marked and easy to understand. Food out the yazzo with many favorites. We grabbed a table and waited for our friends. The entertainment was exactly what one would expect. Fun, easy to sing along to and had a good beat to dance to (for all of my American Bandstand friends). We met some amazing new friends, got some hats and enjoyed great beer and food. Next year is going to be even better. Great job to everyone who puts this on. From the sweepers to the exec's everyone did the absolute best job.

Yelp
It's a festival like a county fair, and has similar food quality, lots of fried items, sausages, dried out turkey legs, and pork hocks slices with Sauerkraut. I tried the sausage stew and fried Sauerkraut balls. Not great but better if you'd had a liter of Dunkel beer. It's spectacle with a lot of people, bands playing German polkas and kids roaming, great for people watching.
google avatar

Daryl O.

Yelp
Another great year! The best food is the final county retirement homes hot German potato salad and the potato pancakes with apple sauce! Give them a try!! I like to get there when they open at 11am and the crowd isn't as large. The polka music from Alex Miexner is a real show stopper! The man's a legend. Come out and get a German beer!
google avatar

Brianna E.

Yelp
Fun but ridiculously expensive. Bought 60 drink tickets and that covered 2 steins. So one round done. Also there's not much German culture shopping. There was one place w the traditional wooden Christmas stuff but the rest of it was Native American fake turquoise jewelry, and texas crap. Food was good but you can't choose between diff sausages or anything. It's really just a place to hang out w friends, drink, and catch up. Can do that at a bar for much less $$

Yelp
If you like German food, beer, fun crowds and looooud live music, this place is your gem! They do get very very busy and parking can be rough. Plan ahead and get ready to walk some distance to get there. Variety of foods is incredible and everything I tried was yum. They brought a small carnival area and that was a perfect little entertainment for younger guests. Tons of vendors inside, from pastries, to clothing and hand crafts. The location is gorgeous and you will enjoy exploring everything they had to offer. Weekend are the busiest and it gets packed, beer gets spilled, but everyone is there to have lots of fun. I'd avoid visiting with small kids past sunset as it gets rowdy, but overall it is rather family friendly.

Yelp
Don't miss Wurstfest! It should be called BestFest because it is one of the best festivals that I have ever been to. The grounds are massive and there is plenty of room for large groups of people. Make sure to get there early for parking but there are park and rides set up all over the place. The grounds are well maintained and there are plenty of bathrooms. To drink you will need drink coupons which you can pre-buy before coming or you can buy onsite. I recommend 30-40 per person if you plan on getting a stein. There is also a ton of food options. The potato pancakes is a crowd favorite and there will be a line for them. The line moves quickly so don't let it discourage you from getting them. If you are a sausage fan or bratwurst fan then you will be in heaven. The live music is outstanding and you are guaranteed to have a great time if you come to Wurstfest.

Yelp
Wurstfest is the best fest! We had an awesome time checking this out. I had some friends fly into town to visit and this event happened to be going on. We decided to drive out to new braunfels and are very glad we did! What a fun time, pitchers of beer, German food and tons of live music. There were a few thousand people here, it was much larger then I was expecting. It was a good time with good friends, I look forward to going back next year!

Yelp
Wurstfest is a New Braunfels tradition and local version of Oktoberfest. We went with some friends on a Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and the crowds were good but quickly grew. $36 for a pitcher of import (Paulaner Hefeweizen). Lots of food options and they are delicious. There are multiple stages and the music is enjoyable. We had kids and there were games and rides for them to enjoy.

Food K.

Yelp
Fun and expensive. The most disappointing thing about this festival is the price. Just a few years back it was only $12 to enter. It now cost you around $25 to enter. The price of beer here is just as outrageous is going to the Houston livestock show and rodeo. On large beer it seems like it's around a dollar an ounce. We paid eight dollars for a cup of beer. It's $26 for a domestic stein of beer and $30 for the import. Pictures are even more expensive and there was no shortage of people walking around with them. The food was expensive and very good. I think the pork chop on a stick was as good as anything. I ate several places that served sausage on a stick. I went to three different places where there were bands playing. Very crowded and hard to find a seat. This is a well organized event with plenty of security and plenty of folks to help you get in and out with no problem. There was a wide variety Of things to eat and drink. Some folks like to wear costumes that adds to the ambience of the festival. I don't see how you could say this could be a family event. I think they priced themselves out of the market on tickets, although there was a crowd of people there, I think they've taken the average family out of this event. Can you really say it's a family event when you're charging $30 for a stein of beer. I can understand having a decent markup on beer, but marking it up 6-7 times does not seem like it's in anyone's best interest except the festivals interest, even if it is a charitable event. They've done like so many other places and events, they've commercialized it to where it's just not affordable for the average family. In the past year admission has gone up five dollars. Apparently it used to be free on Fridays and now it's not. If you happen to download the coupon you can get buy one get one free on Friday. In 2019 the price to enter the festival was $12. On Saturday this year the price was $25. I read quite a few complaints online where people just don't come anymore because they say they can't afford it. I probably won't come back here next year. If you're going to go to this festival you should have another plan for the rest of your day. 1. The price for admission on Saturday for two is $50. 2. Add a couple of Steins of beer to that and spent an additional $60. 3. Add some food for each person and now you're another $40 into the event. 4. Add some parking in there and you could be another $20-$40 out of pocket. 5. Remember, you're between 150 and $200 into this event and you've only had one beer each. If you want a souvenir or dessert you better add another $20. I went on Friday and Saturday and wished I hadn't went on Friday. You could see everything you want, eat some food and listen to a band or two in a four hour period. If you plan on spending the entire day and drinking beer and eating food you're probably going spend between $300 to $500 for two people. I would encourage anyone going to this festival to find something to do the rest of the day. I don't know why anyone would want to spend more than about four hours here. Half the fun is taken out of it when you look at what you have to spend to go there. I guess with fancy buildings, high prices are to follow. I don't mean for this to sound so pessimistic, but this is a very expensive festival and if you're planning on spending the night or doing it more than one day you are going to pay a lot. I just think they've taken the small town out of the Festival, and it seems to me like one big beer drinking event. Maybe it's always been that way and it just didn't seem like it. If you're planning on spending $150 per person from the beginning you might not be as disappointed. They've priced themselves out of the family event Just like most events that were once annual events. I think they could do a little better job making the restroom signs a bit larger. This is a large facility that's very well-kept and a very pleasant place to be around. Everything was very clean and organized. I think the city does a very good job putting this festival on and that a lot of thought goes into how to make traffic flow and get people in and out in a timely manner. I think the Wurstfest has evolved with time, and for my liking, it's gotten too large and commercialized. I know that's a hard thing to control when you advertise on social media, but one thing you can control is the price and in my opinion it's gotten out of control. I would not recommend this as a family event. I guess I'd like to see what the worst fest committee thinks about how a family could go out to an event in their own town or nearby and spend $500 to hang out for the day on entrance, eating, events, and beverages. I'm looking at it as, "been there done that".

Yelp
This was our second time coming by. I didn't really know how everything works and where everything was the first time. With that experience I learned a lot for our second visit here. You have a few options for getting here. Drive and park, rideshare, or take the shuttle or Wurstwagen. Each has its own advantage. We opted to drive and pay to park at Knights of Columbus Hall off of Lands which was conveniently across the street from Gate 1. It was 15.00. Once you have gone through security there are drink ticket booths that are a dollar each. The prices are nicely posted on the window of the booth to help you decide how many tickets to purchase. Food is cash for the most part some booths may take a card you'll just have to ask. Sausage galore is king here. I wanted to try something new and opted for the Wurst Goulash. This soup was absolutely delicious. On top of that it was a bargain for$4.50 for about 12 ounces of soup. Very Hearty! To go with this I used 8 tickets for a Paulaner Hefeweisen. Great combo out in the crisp weather outdoors! If you have kids or just enjoy rides don't forget the carnival here. It is worth the drive out to New Braunfels for this annual event every November. Just don't forget to reserve your lodging early to snag that great rate because the properties in the area will charge you a lot as you get closer to opening day.

Yelp
I remember coming to Wurstfest as a kid with my Opa. Dressed in matching lederhosen and on display for all the cheek pinching I could handle! The grounds at Landa Park are spectacular and totally fitting for a German festival. It's definitely transformed over time and expanded with popularity. I try to get back every 1-2 years and it seems like there is always a new building, a bigger tent and more people! I'd suggest going during the day or weekdays to avoid crowds of drunk college kids and just an overall mob of people. Try a hot sandwich or Belgian waffle from the Edelweiss Deli or Wurst Goulash from the Wursthaus. When you're buying beer, grab tickets first, a bunch of em too so you can avoid double lines when you get thirsty. Unfortunately no short cuts, just look for the fastest moving line and try to finish your last beer just in time to get your next! Prost!

Yelp
What another wonderful year of Wurstfest. Able to attend opening and closing days and it was the best time. The new vendor booths and lots of beverage stands made the event very fun. Parking was easy and lines were short to get in and purchase tickets. The grounds are fun and being able to support small businesses is always a good time. Lots of nice items and the food is delicious. I ordered porkchop on a stick, fried oreos, potato tornados, and some great turkey legs. Come with an appetite and leave with a new hat and pins. It is a must try.

Yelp
What a great festival...we happened to be staying in New Braunfels during wurstfest! Lucky us! What a great tribute to German heritage! As mentioned, earlier is better for parking, with many options from free to $10-40. Some require a shuttle from a mile or so away! If you are lucky, you can arrive during a time that is free to enter, otherwise, it's $15 at the door ($12 if you prepaid on line). There are multiple areas set up, each with seating and live music. By wandering around, usually you can find a seat in different areas. The food is just mind boggling. Everything from sandwiches to authentic German items. We sampled their sausage on a stick, turkey leg, and German pretzel, as well as a few beers. Great fun for the whole family! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
If you haven't been to Wurstfest, you've definitely seen an Instagram post or two from a random babe you follow with the caption "On our WURST behavior *beers clinking emoji*" For $10, you'll enter the world of German culture as people celebrate with beer, sausage, polka music, and good times. Domestic beer is $5 and a pitcher is around $20--not too shabby! A common sight at the fest is people with stacked pitchers and/or cups. There are plenty of food booths run by local New Braunfels schools and businesses. Surprisingly, the food is amazingly affordable. I got myself a crazy delicious and huge jalapeño and mac&cheese stuffed sausage for only $6! For dessert, I treated myself to a 3-pack of fried Oreos for only $3. You seriously cannot beat these festival prices and you can truly embrace your inner glutton here. You have to go to Wurstfest at least once. It can get super crowded so be sure to come as soon as doors open. Also, don't be afraid to post that clichè IG post with a Wurst pun...I won't judge ;)

Yelp
If you love German food & beer and polka music, this is the festival for you! It's a little over an hour drive south of Austin and it is worth the road trip. Tons of good food-potato pancakes (my favorite!), sausage on a stick, sauerkraut balls, schnitzel, strudel...the list goes on and on with the 50+ vendors. The beer options are rather limited so don't go expecting a craft beer hall. They do have options like Shiner (less expensive option) and Paulaner (more expensive option). You will need to purchase drink tickets for these, and even for non alcohol drinks as well. (The food vendors for the most part do take credit cards.) If you manage not to stuff yourself, you can take a trip around the dance floor with one of the polka bands playing. I recommend checking out Wursthalle. They have the best bands and there is a dance floor. If nothing else, check out all the other folks dancing while you enjoy the classic music!

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Went to this in highschool and found it to be a great time. Years later though I see it's fallen apart. Not enough restrooms and everyone is drunk so expect to wait 30 minutes just to piss in a bathroom drenched in urine (can only speak for the men's bathroom). It's so crowded that if one thing went wrong or someone had a medical emergency, it would be an actual hazard, people would trample one another. You likely won't get any service even outside the entrance, no texting, no phone calls. Parking now is 20 bucks, tickets themselves are 25. If you're wanting to get a decent buzz on, expect to pay 32 dollars or more... for bad drink tickets. Food has gone down hill, pretty terrible base-level carnival fare posing as "authentic" German food. The "artisan vendors" they have are even bigger jokes, straight up garbage from China. The whole thing is mostly a bunch of anglos who don't do skin care and probably drink too many beers on a regular basis, LARPING as people from a socialist country whose politics they themselves would be bitterly against but they love the costumes. There's no where to sit, there's very little cover from the rain, people are trashed in overcrowded AND overpriced conditions... lines to get drinks took for forever, the ticket folks and line managers are rude... I mean it was so bad I gave my drink tickets to a nice lookin couple and left within an hour and a half of being there. Colossal waste of money for a long drive to a town with zero tastes.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and we truly enjoy it year after year. The crowds vary depending on the day and time but it's manageable. The food is awesome and the prices are fair. A decent meal item can be 4-7 dollars which is cheaper than other events which may cost average of $10. The food lines are a bit long but they do move fast. The beer line is always a mess with very long lines so be ready to wait. My suggestion is to buy your drink tickets on line and redeem at the window. This line is short in comparison to the cash line. Parking can be a challenge. So come early. Parking lots vary from $10-40. There are free areas but those are the first to fill, of course. The entertainment is always great with American and Europe German / Polka bands. It so much fun. People always look happy to participate, dance and sing. That's what makes this event so much fun. Restrooms are busy but clean. Port a potty are gross. People don't respect that someone else is going to use them next. I don't understand why they behave different in port a potty vs a bathroom. There is plenty of workers who make sure the grounds are clean and so it looks pretty decent considering the amount of visitors. Plenty of security making the event safe. We really enjoy coming year after year. Can't wait for the next one.

Yelp
Festival was a cool experience. I would say they are very over priced for drinks and food but that's to expect. What I didn't like was getting warm-ish beers because they had them already poured and sitting out. No one wants to pay $9 for a warm beer, we let them know and they gave us a colder beer. What was disappointing was they dumped the warmer beer!!! That was the most surprising. What German throws out any beer?! Another thing that bothered me was the Ferris wheel. They packed the carts full with people not knowing each other which is a Covid risk. I'm not crazy Covid scared but I've been on plenty of Ferris wheels where you can definitely have only two people sit in one cart. So that's all, the wasted beer and the trying to get everyone in and out while paying a pretty penny. Please don't waste beer next year! :)

Yelp
If you like a lot of people and beer then wurstfest is for you. I love that they expanded the grounds. The wurst in tachen (i think that's how you spell it) is amazing also the blooming onion. The music is always so delightful no matter where you go. You hardly ever see anyone in a bad mood. My favorite thing to do is sit by the water and talk to my friends and just soak it all in. Even when it's raining and cold like 2018 i still had a blast

Yelp
Very overcrowded.... So choose your time wisely. Also, the admission price on top of extremely high beer prices are a bit much! That said, it's a great time with lots of food options. Very safe and clean venue, especially when you consider the number of peoples.

Yelp
"Kiss Me I'm German" Old timers will know exactly what that means. Newbies won't get it. (Just ask me if you are curious) Willkommen to New Braunfels where Germany is our homeland and we celebrate our heritage as often as possible! What better way than to host a festival to honor the sausage?! Wurstfest is a 10 day celebration of Wurst & Bier in early November along the banks of the Comal River in downtown New Braunfels ... and a place to do the Chicken Dance! Over 50 years of Wunderbar! *HINT*FREE ADMISSION* The first day (Friday) before 6pm The last day (Sunday) after 3pm OR look for discount coupons in local papers My personal story: I grew up in Canyon Lake which is just 20m west of NB. In the 70s and into the 80s, there really wasn't much to do around here. Comal Country Fair and Wurstfest were our two big events of the year. I have spent a lot of time here from a teenager to young adult. Then I just got burned out. I have visited more recently meeting up with local friends on the last day for free admission after 3pm. Oh my how Wurstfest has grown! Lines, Lines, Lines. It's the land of lines. One of the longest lines will be for the potato pancakes. I lucked out a few years ago on a (last) Sunday and was able to get one w/o much of a line. It was as good as I remember. Just expect lots lines especially on Thu night which is college night and both weekends. *HINT* Keep this in mind not only for Wurstfest but any festival... better the weather, the more people come out to play. So please don't let a little cold or rain keep you away. It's actually so much better w/o all the people and the festival could use your business during those times. (I also say this about Sherwood Forest Faire, a Medieval Festival east of Austin) Pitchers of beer are Back! ... but they aren't cheap... At one time, they actually discontinued the pitchers of beer because of the drunks. Germans love their beer... but people are stupid. I highly suggest getting a local hotel room and using a taxi or Uber (my how NB has grown) to get back and forth. Also most recently, German beers are now available for purchase, at an additional cost of course! *HINT* Do not walk around with stacks of beer cups. Local PoPo are watching you. Comal County as well as Bexar County are both "no refusal" counties 24/7/365. Entertainment... several areas to enjoy music. In the old days, it was just the WurstHalle but now tents and stages are all over the park. There is even a carnival area for the kids but honestly I wouldn't want to bring kids out there, but if I did it would be a day time thing, and keep them home to avoid the rowdy crowds at night. *Parking* Either pay for parking at the front entrance... OR park for free closer to downtown and walk a few blocks... OR try your luck in Landa Park where it's also free. *Note* Mark your calendars to break out your lederhosen and dirndl a day early, the Thursday before Wurstfest starts, as Pub Crawl New Braunfels host their famous (or infamous) Best Wurst Pub Crawl in downtown New Braunfels. The hosts organize this amazing event with the generosity of the Faust Hotel (great place to stay for the night!) and other local pubs in the few blocks around the plaza. The crawl is lead by an Oomph band. It is just so much fun!!! Wurstfest... It's the best of times... It's the wurst of times...

Yelp
Annual event that I look forward to every year. I got an email a few weeks before the start of Wurstfest and bought my tickets online. I was able to use them as mobile tickets also. Easy peasy. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves this year. There's always lots of really great people watching and there if food and drink a plenty for everyone! There's always a great polka bands on all the stages. If you're in the mood to dance you might be surprised to hear a familiar tune on the accordion. Last year we discovered a new area that has all local, craft Texas beers. There's also a stage and seating near there as well. A great place to hangout if you like craft beers. Some food highlights: Wurst-n-Taschen Pita pocket with sausage, topped with sauerkraut and diced peppers and onions. Slap some spicy mustard on top and you're in business. Pork Chop-on-a-Stick This is the reason why I LOVE Wurstfest. This is the greatest thing evener. Juicy, salty porkchop. I like it when there's a little bit of fat on the edge and it's crispy and adds flavor to the whole chop. I think one year I saw some soy sauce laying around in the grill area. I can taste it a little bit. Whatever they do to prep and cook these things it's amazing. Fried Pickles This are fried dill chips. A little on the salty side but it's a nice addition to all the fair food consumption. Has a nice dill flavor kick and the breading stays on when you eat it. Caramel Apple Funnel Cake The day before my husband and I couldn't stop talking about getting our funnel cake. Hot sweet fried cake topped with caramel, powdered sugar and apple topping. How can you go wrong with that? It was a great finish to the food journey. This put me into a total food coma.

Yelp
Wurstfest is fun and all, but I don't think I'll be back because the main feature is standing in lines. You have to pay to enter the fest, which starts with a wait in line, then everything in the fest costs money, which means more line-waiting. I think it's worth a visit during an off-peak time. I'm sure I sound like a complainer, so keep reading for the good stuff. The fest is full of delicious food, great music and dancing, and a pretty elaborate amusement park with rides for kids and adults. If you like German culture, you'll find imports straight from Deutschland like bretzels, clothing, beer, mustard, candy, Christmas decor, and glassware. The river runs right through the park, which is very picturesque and makes for great photo opps. The crowds are full of fun costumes and hats, so be prepared to people-watch to your heart's content!

Yelp
I grew up around polka music and I'm now a director of a high school German club, so this was not my first "fest", but my first time at Wurstfest in November 2019. This was the most crowded fest I've ever been too, to the point where I thought I would get trampled if not careful. They had a lot of fun places to eat, shops and performances by polka musicians, but not anything you couldn't find at another fest in Texas. My favorite part was the performance by the theatre troupe; if you do come here, you have to see it! I would skip this festival in favor of a smaller one with just as many things to do.

Yelp
Go early in the afternoon and you won't have to wait in long lines. My group arrived at 3 and there was basically no line to get in! Buy drink tickets early because the drinks can only be purchased with the tickets and the lines for these will only get longer the later you wait. I shared a turkey leg, 5 types of sausage on a stick, sauerkraut, funnel cake, and a pitcher of beer with my friends and we were very satisfied with the taste and portion. Only downside as with any big event is seating. They had a lot of seating, but with such big crowds and many people reserving seats, it was hard to find seats for my group.

Yelp
First time at Wurstfest. I enjoyed coming to the event but was disappointed with the lines for adult beverages. I liked the area woth food and stores, we purchased a shirt and hat. The music was good and there were several areas to hear different bands. Expect to walk around like sardines in a can if you're there Saturday nite.

Yelp
I went to the Wurstfest for this first time ever this past weekend. It was a great experience! THE GOOD: - The food is so yummy! I loved it all. - I don't drink beer but come on, Wurstfest right? The pitchers are huge! THE BAD: - They only accept cash. There are ATMs available but it's 2017. Let's get with the program and accept card. - It could be more organized. PRO TIP: - Purchase drink tickets ahead of time so you don't have to wait in line. - Bring lots of cash for food because it's delicious. - Be ready to dance because it's funsies. - If you plan on drinking a lot, book a hotel and uber. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. It's worth checking out with a good group of friends.

Yelp
This year was the last straw I had gone a previous year and paid for parking, paid for admission and paid for food and thought it was a ripoff. So this year we decided to go on a free day. Boy were we wrong! The place was sooo crowded- long lines for everything and food is still overpriced. Not worth it even on a free day. I would NOT recommend going here.

Yelp
I cannot even put into words how awesomely fun Wurstfest really is. What a glorious 10-day festival all dedicated to the most delicious thing on the planet: SAUSAGE!!! First off, allow me to start with some pro-tips for those who feel Wurstfest is a tad bit "too pricey...." Don't go. Haha, just kidding. (1) You'll want to go on the first day (before 7pm) or on the last day (after 3pm) to avoid having to buy tickets. (2) Try to avoid those pesky $10 parking lots. There's always ample parking at Landa Park if you are willing to snake around the lot a couple of times. Watch out for pedestrians!!! (3) Definitely be sure to take a gaggle of people with you so you can afford to split that ridiculously priced $29 pitcher of beer! And when you do acquire said $29 pitcher of beer, try not to spill it everywhere! (4) Get the Wurstfest kabob. It will be the only wurst on a stick you'll need to buy since there's a sample of each. And finally, Wurstfest Essential Tip number (5) Get you a Flammkuchen (German pizza) for $12 and let that delicious flavor overload take over your mind. Do you even Flammkuchen, bruh? And voila! As long as you adhere to my tips, you will have a Wunderbar time. Don't forget to dawn your best derndles and lederhosen and go out and have a blast! Remember to partei responsibly!

Yelp
This was my first year attending Wurstfest, and I just as much fun here as I did at Oktoberfest in Munich. What is not to love?! *German Beer*, *Awesome Bands*, *Bratwurst - Potato Pancakes & applesauce -Funnel Cakes and more*, *craft booths* and *photo ops*! My wunderbar experience is in part due to the many tips I received from others ahead of time and so, in summary here's what you need to know: 1. Go on a weekday evening vs. a weekend day. We went Friday after work, and yes traffic was hellacious getting out of Austin but after that it was an easy drive. It was all the excitement and a good sized crowd, but far less than on the following Saturday. 2. Get a hotel on the Wurstfest Wagon line. A shared room really isn't that expensive and many of them offer coffee and a light breakfast to boot....and trust me you'll be glad you did! 3. Use one of the several Wurstfest shuttles (Wurstfest Wagon is the "official" one, but also the priciest), there's more than one option and it's $5-$10 RT). Your hotel will likely have the information on them. The best thing about this is you don't have to mess with parking in a dirt lot or driving anywhere after consuming more beer than your realized. 4. My biggest tip of all: buy your tickets online in advance! The Wurstfest entry tickets are cheaper the earlier you get them and it saves you from wasting time in a long line once you get there. Also buy your drink/food tickets in advance online, as this saves you from yet another long line. They come in packets of 20 and you'll need at least 25 for a premium pitcher, plus more tickets for food. 5. If you want some Wurstfest bling (silly hat, pins, costume, stein, etc.), there's a building in the parking lot (Knights of Columbus Hall) with several craft booths that sell those things cheaper than once you get into Wurstfest. 6. Wursthalle is my pick for a place to plant yourself; it has a larger dance floor and is close to the both the biergardten and the food vendors. 7. Wear your dancing shoes! The happiest faces were of those folks out on the dance floor singing along to Roll out the Barrel, doing the Chicken Dance and attempting a polka. So grab your friends and get up close to the band. Good luck and Prost!

Yelp
More than just a sausage festival, but definitely a festival, a wonderful one that celebrates the German culture and heritage of the small town where it's celebrated in. Donn a drindle or a liederhosen and you'll fit right in! Such a rich experience of food, polka of all sorts, and take a waltz in the plaza, or allow the kids to enjoy the small carnival. Be sure to find out the free admission days and times; bring cash for beer tickets, and be prepared to wait in admission line, which tends to move at a decent pace. Family friendly during the day, can get boisterous and crowded for children at night. Expect to pay for parking close by which only takes cash. Designated Uber and Lyft locations which is probably your best mode of transportation during the festival!

Yelp
A little pricey but seems inline with other venues. Multiple music groups and a variety of music, not just the German inspired folk music. Lots of good food, turkey legs, sausage on a stick, funnel cake, etc... great activity for the whole family, from the kiddos to Grandma and Moms to Dads... many kinds of beer of course, domestic and German. Beautiful grounds and connected to the beautiful Landa Park. We'll be back again next year...

Yelp
Mmmm.... sausage, alcohol, polka music, fuzzy Viking helmets, and dense crowds... sign me up!!! Don't forget to get your beer tickets in uneven numbers for what you actually need... also make sure you get a pitcher and set of cups that you take home and never use again...
