Xecora Gastronomia Urbana is a modern Mexican gastropub. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with family and it was not busy. There is a private lot which is nice, but it will be tough to find parking during lunch and dinner rushes. We were greeted and seated upon entering. The space has warm lights and colorful decorations with music playing in the background.
We ordered the Taco Trio, Zarandeado Filet, Malefficio, and San Pedro Ports O Call Fajitas. After ordering, we were served complimentary chips and salsa. The chips seemed freshly fried and the salsa was unique -- it had a nice smoky flavor to it. The Taco Trio was solid. The Shrimp Gobernador was probably the favorite in texture and flavor. The pickled onions on the side were very tart and salty. The Zadandeado Filet was a good portion and the fish was cooked well. It came with some beans, tortillas, and similar pickled vegetables on the side. The Malefficio was fresh, flavorful, and had different types of seafood. It was served with tostadas and saltiness on the side. The San Pedro Ports O Call Fajitas came with a good amount of shrimp on top of peppers and onions along with several pieces of garlic bread. The garlic bread was good. The peppers and onions were caramelized which gave them a sweet flavor. The shrimp were fresh and cooked well.
Overall, giving Xecora Gastronomia Urbana a 4/5. The food is solid, especially the complimentary salsa and the Malefficio. Prices are a bit on the higher end, but is worth it depending on what you order. Towards the end of our meal, service slowed down significantly, so also taking that into account. This is likely because we were entering the dinner rush. Would recommend to people looking for unique Mexican food.
