Someone told me about this place, they said it was fine dining… fine dining it is not, BUT they have one of the best ceviches I have had. The WTF ceviche is addictive, I go there often just for the ceviche. Service isn’t bad, but could be better, we always see ourselves flagging our service down to get more water, more cocktails or simple things like chips and napkins. Servers are very nice, I just think they need to hire more to provide the attention required. Cocktails are pretty good, too sweet for my liking, but all my guests always love them. WTF Ceviche is the winner in this place.

The gobernador Marlin Tacos tasted good. It was ok. :). The watermelon 🍉 drink was sweet. I enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey, but it is understandable. Nice place to come eat out with family or friends. I like the atmosphere here. I appreciate the service here. Thank you. 🙏

Google
Plenty of parking outside and the interior decor was nice, but I had higher hopes for the food than was recieved. Our server was in a hurry the whole time even though there was only one other table, like it was a bother we were there. The water was infused with cucumber surprise- undrinkable because I don't like cukes. Guava margarita was good, big chunky salt was a nice touch. Salsa was just diced tomatoes, no Jalapeño/cilantro/onion, etc. Birria tacos had a good amount of meat and cheese. Carne asada meat was cooked nicely medium, with smoky grill flavor. Beans were barely warm and lacking any flavor, very watery. Tortillas appeared to be freshly made. This isn't really 'Mexican' but rather 'Mexican fusion' - although I'm not sure what's infused aside from disappointment.

Beautiful restaurant. Variety of food from sandwiches and tacos to pasta and ceviche. Service was attentive.

Google
great flavor. I shouldn't ordered tacos though. instead I ordered the chicken skewer and it was a little over-cooked/ dry. Everyone else's food looked great

My wife and I always enjoy our date nights here. No matter what we order it's very delicious and full of flavors!

Google
Loved the food and the Aguas Frescas. The place Decor is beautiful too. I had the Carne Asada Plate with handmade Corn Tortillas. My mom had a Breakfast Plate, the Chilaquiles Rojos and Eggs. I loved the Agua de Pepino con Limon. Also that Salsa they serve with the Chips is great. Will need to revisit this place again & hopefully soon.

Yelp
I was craving chips and salsa and we haven't been here in forever! Luckily the wait wasn't crazy on a Friday night. Comp Chips and Salsa - the chips are fresh and that salsa is so delicious! Love the smokiness of it! It hit the spot. Make sure not to be like me and eat too much, then can't eat your entree lol. Lilikoi Ceviche - shrimp, passionfruit, mango, and sesame seed ceviche - OMG!! This was soooo good!! I abandoned the salsa to finish this dish!! Sweet and tart. Definite must get! I liked the tostada chips it came with as it had really good corn flavor, but it was thicker. I ended up using the chips to dip. Shrimp Turnovers - that crispy shell and yummy filling, and THAT cheese pull!!! This is yum! Super IG-able! Kesabirria Tacos - So delish! Love it with the pickled onions. I don't usually like to dip my quesatacos in the consome, but they had reduced it down to a sauce thickness... The flavor was unbeatable! Xurave - Watermelon-lavender, tequila and lime - YUM! and it's so pretty! I ended up not eating my entree due to the chips lol! Everything I've had here has been great! Make sure to check out their Happy Hour! Shout out to Abby! She was doing such an amazing job making sure we were always taken care of! Inside is super cute and colorful! Love the bar area! Private parking lot, but it can get full quickly. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
Xecora Gastronomia Urbana is a modern Mexican gastropub. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with family and it was not busy. There is a private lot which is nice, but it will be tough to find parking during lunch and dinner rushes. We were greeted and seated upon entering. The space has warm lights and colorful decorations with music playing in the background. We ordered the Taco Trio, Zarandeado Filet, Malefficio, and San Pedro Ports O Call Fajitas. After ordering, we were served complimentary chips and salsa. The chips seemed freshly fried and the salsa was unique -- it had a nice smoky flavor to it. The Taco Trio was solid. The Shrimp Gobernador was probably the favorite in texture and flavor. The pickled onions on the side were very tart and salty. The Zadandeado Filet was a good portion and the fish was cooked well. It came with some beans, tortillas, and similar pickled vegetables on the side. The Malefficio was fresh, flavorful, and had different types of seafood. It was served with tostadas and saltiness on the side. The San Pedro Ports O Call Fajitas came with a good amount of shrimp on top of peppers and onions along with several pieces of garlic bread. The garlic bread was good. The peppers and onions were caramelized which gave them a sweet flavor. The shrimp were fresh and cooked well. Overall, giving Xecora Gastronomia Urbana a 4/5. The food is solid, especially the complimentary salsa and the Malefficio. Prices are a bit on the higher end, but is worth it depending on what you order. Towards the end of our meal, service slowed down significantly, so also taking that into account. This is likely because we were entering the dinner rush. Would recommend to people looking for unique Mexican food.

Yelp
And here randomly while I was charging my car in the area and was pleasantly surprised. The mushrooms al pastor taco was amazing. Also the prickly pear drink was great, not too sweet and actually pretty strong, didn't expect that! The real star of the show was the whole fried fish Zarandeado. Comes with beans, fresh tortillas and a cucumber, tomato, onions side. The fish was perfectly cooked, so flavorful but also light and fresh. They also had live music the whole time (on a Sunday afternoon). Would definitely come back here again to try more of their menu.

Yelp
The ambiance is nice. Colorful chairs and artwork on the walls. We came in about 8:30pm the place wasn't too busy. We ordered a tortilla soup which was delicious. We had the signature cocktail which as also delicious. Charbroiled octopus was good. Birria tacos were excellent. Negra ceviche was on point. Presentation of food was excellent. The wait staff was bit less attentive. I saw our waitress on her phone by the bar when we needed some additional napkins. Luckily, the bartender was observant and attended to our needs. Shout out to the bartender who makes excellent drinks. The place had a cool vibe. Overall staff is friendly. Restaurant is clean. Plenty of parking. Family friendly, good for large and small groups. I would come back again to try other items on the menu as there are a variety of tasty looking dishes.

Yelp
I have been going to Xecora for several years and I don't know why it took this long to review it. The food is mostly seafood, from the state of Nayarit. It is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in a town full of options for Mexican cuisine. I particularly enjoy brunch at Xecora. Everything is so tasty and expertly prepared, you can close your eyes and pick a random item - and would most likely be happy. Standouts for me are the shrimp and cheese turnovers, charbroiled oysters, the whole Zarandeado fish with outstanding tortillas and beans, lilikoi ceviche, grilled shrimp, and tacos - mainly the ensenada fish taco and smoked marlin taco. The salsas are so flavorful and there are fantastic choices of authentic, fruity drinks. The decor is colorful and inviting and service is very good.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience here with a large group. We came to had a a family dinner after one of them had been affecting by the fire. The restaurant was pretty empty but there were some people still there. We were seated quickly and the server seemed to be new or did not have a great understanding of the menu. She messed up multiple orders and seemed to have forgot dishes that came an hour after we had gotten most of our food after we had to re-ask about about. After we ordered we even went over the whole order again to clarify all the dishes and she still did not get the order correct. There was a significant wait for the food which we didn't mind because we were talking, but the restaurant was not busy. Once we started getting our food we also had to keep asking her for utensils because none of us had them so we were just staring at the food for the first ten minutes. She was very nice but this many errors was slightly concerning and we had waiting so long that we didn't even want to correct them because we thought there would be even more issues. The food was pretty average, but wildly overpriced. She recommended the langostinos which came thirty minutes after we were done eating(probably because she forgot to put them in when we initially ordered) and they were mushy and very fishy. The taco trio was probably the best thing, but at $6 per taco they better be good. I don't understand the hype behind Xecora but I will definitely not be coming here again. Food was average and you have a pay a pretty penny for bad and slow service.

Yelp
This is a beautiful restaurant in El Monte. We came for brunch and I liked that the menu was simple and not overly confusing. It was pretty empty at 10 am but people started coming in around 11 am. These are the breakfast items we had. Cafe De Olla - One of the best cafe de olla I've had. Would recommend, its not overly sweet and they have creamer on the side. (5/5) Breakfast Sandwich - This is a really basic sandwich with scrambled eggs and some veggies. It's okay but also nothing special. The truffle fries are bomb though. (3/5) Chilaquiles Rojos + Meat (Carne Asada) - This is a delicious dish. It's very presentable and everything was cooked perfectly. I would get this again. Definitely pay extra to add the meat. (5/5) Overall I enjoyed this breakfast spot. Simple menu, beautiful interior, and solid service. Looks like they are a vibe at night since they have a bar and some fancy drinks.

Yelp
Don't miss the shrimp turnovers and make sure to eat it when it's piping hot so the cheese is still cheesin'!! The ceviches here are delicious and always packed with flavor. We tried the fish chicharron this and it isn't as good as their zarandeado filet/ fish options. Their tacos are also super huge and more than enough for sharing. The only thing is the music always seems to be absurdly loud here, especially now with sports playing at the bar, it's even louder making it hard to have a conversation.

Yelp
My mother and sister have been going here and rave how good it is. I been wanting to come and try it and let me tell you... the place is tucked in a small area by the gas station, but inside is beautiful! The decor, the ambiance, the details, everything looks great! The service was quick and amazing! The food was spot on! Everything we tried was delicious! The ceviche is a must get, the birria tacos were good, it was just missing the jugo that they never brought but still good. We went during happy hour so it was two margaritas for the price of one! We got the classic in the rock, it was really good! 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
Not too shabby for tacos. I recommend the shrimp ceviche, bottle coke, and the marlin taco.

Yelp
Some of the best food here! We've been here a few times now and it's time to show them some love. Our friends introduced us to this place and now we go as often as we can. Shrimp and Cheese Empanada's are super crispy and the dough or batter seems light. There's a few pieces of shrimp inside with a good portion of cheese. The octopus is something we keep coming back for. It's grilled and is always cooked well. They care about the quality of their food here and you can tell by this dish alone. Highly recommend this one if you're a fan of octopus. The drinks here were also very well crafted and I'd recommend trying at least one during your visit.

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch around noon on a Wednesday, restaurant was so cute, good vibe and very well decorated. It wasn't busy at all, which made for a relaxing experience. We enjoyed a couple of vodka drinks, and for food, we tried the tacos Gobernador and birria, both were DELISH! The tiny pot of beans that came with the meal was so good too. Next time, I'm definitely ordering a side of beans to go with my chips. The waitstaff was attentive, and the bartender was nice. While the drinks were a bit pricey, it's expected given the vibe and the type of place.

Yelp
Upon arrival and entering this unique restaurant/bar one ca t help but notice the decor . Immediately it grabs my attention. It is very creative and unique with so much color and original art. The seafood taste fresh and flavorful. Even the simplest of item like the guacamole is yummy. I have tried several dishes and each have impressed my taste buds. I usually try the different ceviche choices. Soooo good !!!! The Acura's are a bit sweet but yummy. I would like more places to use less sugar and see sugar I. Drinks a bit too normal. Either way the place is worth it and find that I come here often to grab seafood. It is great for huge groups and has ample space . Also has plenty of parking .

Yelp
Still one of my favorite happy hour spots. They updated their hours from 3 to 7pm, instead of 8pm. Always the best service with a vibrant interior. Food options are delicious and priced well with Cadillac margaritas.
google avatar

Yelp
My second time here, first time a few years ago where I got tacos and margaritas. I recall the tacos being good but the margaritas kinda weak. We got here around 5:25pm on a Tuesday to discover it was taco Tuesday and happy hour. Happy hour on Tuesday is from 3-7pm. Seems like they have specials every day and happy hour varies along with those specials. I recall that Thursday happy hour is from 11-7. Today we got shrimp and marlin tacos (very good), carne asada appetizer (really good and tender), ceviche (good), and sangria (could be stronger). Will Definitely be back.

Yelp
Xécora Gastronomía Urbana is a visually stunning restaurant that brings elevated Mexican cuisine to El Monte with an artistic flair. The ambiance is undoubtedly one of its biggest draws--beautifully designed with Mexican art influences, it's the kind of place that makes you stop and take in the details, like the quirky chickens wearing serapes that add a touch of whimsy to the space. The food is good, with certain dishes justifying the elevated price point. This isn't your traditional Mexican fare--it's a more refined take, perfect for special occasions. The drinks also stand out, expertly crafted and a great addition to the overall experience. However, the service was a letdown for our large party of nine. Despite the restaurant not being full, we had to wave down our server multiple times just to get attention. It was frustrating, especially for a big group that should have been given more consistent care. Overall, Xécora is worth a visit for the ambiance and some standout dishes, but the slow service could use some improvement. Four stars for its unique vibe and good food, with room for growth in customer service.

Yelp
This space is quite large with friendly service. I was here for an event and we used the side of the room with the tv screen. It was a good sized area with colorful murals on the walls. The catered food was delicious. I also ordered vegetarian tacos after and was left wanting more to take home! I would go back next time I'm in the area!
google avatar

Frankee F.

Yelp
I really enjoy the ambiance and vibe of this place, I just don't like how far away it is from me. I used to have a Xecora in North Hollywood but it closed down. Gobernador tacos are 5/5, empanadas 4/5, feel good drinks 5/5. Service is a little slow but our server didn't seem to have much help, understaffed. Xecora is worth the visit. Decor is cool, vibe is cool. I highly recommend this place.

Maricelle R.

Yelp
Food was so good! A little higher on price point for Mexican but it was better than your traditional taco stand. Very good. Also had their mixed drinks which were delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I was in town and looking for an elevated experience. I fired up the Yelp machine and it pointed me here and I'm so glad it did. Since I live in a more urban environment, it's always a strange thrill to pull into a parking place in a lot right by the front door. Freaky! Anyway, The food was bursting with flavor. I had grilled butterfly shrimp. Simply amazing. The beans and rice were spot on as well. Great looking bar with an impressive array of tequilas to boot. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely return.
google avatar

Tina V.

Yelp
I went back recently and was very disappointed. Service was poor and food quality wasn't great. My ceviche was very undercooked and even after asking for extra lime to add it didn't help whatsoever. Pricey and not very satisfying.
google avatar

nikie n.

Yelp
Took my mom to this Mexican gastropub near my house that I've been eyeing for a while! The store is very colorful and catchy design! Everything we ordered r really tasty! The Iilikoi ceviche - shrimp ceviche with passionfruit and mango The taco trio - quesobirria , shrimp and marlin fish Carne asada plate - the beef seasoned very well but it's kinda over cooked. However The vegetable that came with it is very delicious. Too bad that I have to drive and can't order any cocktail. They have a big extensive drink menu. I will be back soon!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
This place is so good! Everything we had was delicious, and the service was great. The drinks were also fantastic, perfectly complementing the meal. I can't wait to come back during happy hour. The ambiance was inviting, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The flavors in each dish were memorable and I'm looking forwarded to trying other dishes that they serve. Highly recommend this spot for both the food and the excellent service. The best sinaloense ceviche I've had by far!
google avatar

Yelp
Arroz con mariscos 100 % recommend It can be a little price and not to much portion but flavor it's amazing

Zaida V.

Yelp
We were there few months, but the food was very good ,fresh, and a lot of flavor,I like the service was perfect very polite people!! And the place is gorgeous, beautiful Mexican Art !! And nice place!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been a huge supporter since Xecora opened. I have always been a fan with the menu updates always focusing on fresh ceviches, quality tacos, and excellent cocktails. Even 6 months ago I was impressed with the new additional menu items. I went last night and the menu completely changed. Yes you still have the most classics but the menu is now a scramble of soups, pasta, sandwiches , mexican dishes and then seafood and tacos. The prices continue to increase yet the quality in my opinion has deceased. Even my favorite staple- gobernador tacos have decreased in flavor yet cost now $6 per taco.
google avatar

Stacy H.

Yelp
Came here to dinner with my family and really enjoyed the food here. We loved the happy hour menu as well. The guacamole was perfect with the chips & my kids loved the carne asada plate. Definetely will be back to try other items ! Service was also really fast and nice.
google avatar

Zinnia V.

Yelp
This place has good drinks!! The food is good but I wouldn't say delicious but it does the trick!! I went twice and our service wasn't the same. The first time I went with my friends and we had a very attentive server and she was friendly and kept checking up on us. The second time I went w my family and the service was veryyy slow and the food was very greasy and inconsistent compared to the first time. For happy hour to only have one server is wild to me! The guy said he got it but I could clearly see he was struggling and constantly forgot to bring us things we asked for (water, plates, napkins, straws) the basics. I think it would do them well to hire another person to help on the busier weekdays (Wednesday-Friday)
google avatar

Corazon A.

Yelp
I gave this place 5/5 stars last time, and I'm back to say that I've been vegan for 5 months and they have absolutely INSANELY delicious vegan options, with delicious as hellllll drinks!!! I brought my partner here for the first time this weekend, and he's a meat eater, but he loved my vegan al pastor mushroom tacos so much, that he said they were better than normal al pastor tacos. He loved it so much, we came back the next day lol. Definitely a hidden gem in El Monte.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and got the carne asada and octopus tacos. Pricey but pretty good, service was solid and the place looks pretty nice. Would come back.
google avatar

Alyssa G.

Yelp
Great options; Love their vegan tacos & the best ceviche I've had ! Fast service & checked up on me even when they got busy. Beautiful Mexican style art throughout the restaurant. The hanging lights were my favorite I personally can't drink due to health reasons but they definitely have various drink options & there's Happy Hour. Check it out if you're in the El Monte area
google avatar

Jonathan T.

Yelp
The food here was good, the fried octopus tacos had a good crunch and flavor, Service was great and the staff here are very friendly

Fabiola D.

Yelp
A little disappointed!. I ordered pescado zarandeado.. and had no flavor... Definitely was not zarandeado the right way!! Was missing all de condiments.

Yelp
My wife discovered this gem on Yelp over a year ago, and we've been enjoying the food and drinks ever since. Although it's a bit pricey and the service can sometimes be slow, the quality of the food and drinks more than makes up for it. On our most recent visit, our waitress Brenda, was exceptionally attentive, friendly, and courteous. There's also waiter who also bartends, and he's also very friendly and attentive. We wish all the staff were like them. We usually start with the delicious Tacos Gobernador and the Ceviche LiliKoi. If you want a spicier ceviche, try the La Negra ceviche. Our go-to dishes are usually the Zarandeado Filet and the Octopus Chicharron, both bursting with amazing flavors. This place tends to get very busy in the evenings and on weekends, so plan accordingly. Lastly, the agua frescas are very good well!
google avatar

Jenny Y.

Yelp
My friend was in town and wanted Mexican food so we tried this restaurant in town. The decor is super cute, but location is pretty odd next to a gas station. We ordered the shrimp tacos and fish ceviche. The food is decent and I'd love to come back to try their meat options. The drinks also looked pretty enticing but we didn't try any of them that night.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and I finally got to. I got out of work early and I invited my mom to go get some lunch. I was originally going somewhere else and since it was on the way I decided to go in and try their food. As soon as you walk in they welcome you and they sit you down. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. It is colorful and very authentic. As soon as we got sat down our waitress approached my mother and I. They serve you chips and salsa immediately took our drink order. I got the 2 Micheladas it was happy hour therefore they were 2 for $10 which was a great deal for me. My mom ordered the Agua Fresca de Pepino con limón and said they it was delicious. What really caught my eye was the menu. Everything on their menu was looking good and my mom and I were very indecisive about what to eat. My mom ended up ordering their pescado zarandeado. I got the Secretaria Taco and the Ensenada pescado taco. I really wanted the ceviche though and ended up asking our waitress what she recommended and let me just say that she was absolutely right. I got the Lilikoi Ceviche and it was so delicious. I did want to try the Octopus a la braza but that will be the next time I go. Everything looks very good and I will definitely be back. If you're ever in El Monte stop by and show them some love. They also have an open bar called Mixology. Definitely worth the visit and I thought the price was right. I promise you that you'll also want to come back for more.

Yelp
I was given this Restaurant By fellow people of my trade. They said if you want to eat a F 'King good shrimp tacos go here! Yes!! They are Awesome! So I do recommend Xecora for a First Date or Mama's night out with Papa! Leave the kids at home is what I'm letting you know. Save some coins!

Yelp
Found this place on social media and wanted to try it out. We came during brunch time and ordered bottomless mimosas. Thank goodness the waiter gave us the brunch and lunch menu because we had trouble deciding. I wish they had some chorizo dish in the brunch section but it's fine. I got the Shrimp Aguachile with the tostadas, which was very delicious. The portion was small but the amount of tostadas and crackers they gave me kept me satisfied. I wish they had given us chips and salsa when we arrived but we had to ask and then were charged for it. The interior is so beautiful and colorful. They had humongous painted murals on some of the walls. The service was just alright. The waiter wasn't too attentive even though there weren't many parties yet. Cute place for the experience.
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Our waitress Brenda was so sweet & attentive. The WTF ceviche was sooo delicious! It had the perfect amount of spice & full of flavor. For our entree we ordered the carne asada plate & came with fresh frijoles de olla, handmade tortillas , chile serrano & the carne asada was flavorful & juicy. The agua fresca de pepino was so refreshing , especially with this hot Cali weather. Will definitely be coming back here.

Yelp
Love the food, service was amazing! She was very patient and the food came out super quick, will be coming back just cause of Brenda!

Yelp
This place is a gem. I have been here multiple times and it's always leave me amazed. Not only is the presentation of each plate impressive but the flavor in each dish is absolutely amazing. You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu I have tried several dishes, and all of them have been super good. One of the things I really like about them is that all other dishes are freshly made whether it's a ceviche or something battered. You can taste the freshness. Another thing I really like about this place is their decoration and the set up they have it's really nice. They got some nice paintings on the wall and also a little history on their background. Service is another plus here. The ladies are very attentive, always checking up and they are super friendly. They make you feel welcome, which is much appreciated.

Yelp
I stopped by on Tuesday afternoon for happy hour with some girlfriends. We intended to order one drink each but perhaps due to a mixup we ended up ordering the 2for drink specials for each one of us. We didn't realize the errors until two glasses stated getting placed at each person's side. The happy accident allowed us to both the sangria and the margarita. They were easy to drink but not strong. We also shared the turnovers and kesabirria taco. We all really liked both items. It was a nice time and not overcrowded at the time. The chips and salsa were pretty good too. Service was quick.

Yelp
Xecora has one of the best guacamole I've ever had - so creamy! They have an excellent selection of cocktails here, perfect for happy hour. Their handmade tortilla tastes soooo good paired with the carne asada. Such a cool spot to hang out with friends. Pro tip- you get a free Aqua Fresca when you check in on Yelp! Parking is very easy, located behind the gas station. Perfect for large parties

Yelp
Came here after long night and early-morning flight from Minnesota. The service was fantastic. We were greeted with a nice smile and soon had our order taken. I ordered cafe de oya, a costume that has a very special place in my heart since my mom has made it in our family for decades. It's a sweet coffee that has cinnamon and Mexican chocolate and needs zero creamer. It tasted just like it would from my mom. I proceeded to order the Chilaquiles, which I was not let down one bit absolutely delicious, my partner got the breakfast. Tacos are so very tasty. Their side hot sauce was also tasty. Glad to help me find this great gem as I'm not from this area, but our dogs were at daycare close by. Betza our server was on top of everything. Thank you Betza!

Yelp
Great restaurant! Lots of delicious food and drinks! First time I went their service was pretty good. Second time, the service wasn't as great. It seem like they only had one server working and a bunch of help staff. There were moments where we wanted to get a refill on water or needed to add more food or what not.. They give you complimentary chips and salsa, which their salsa is delicious! However, they started to charge after the first round of salsa... Their food is amazing! I would definitely recommend their aguachile and octopus appetizer dish!

Yelp
This restaurant cantina only gets more beautiful the food was fantastic my mom ordered a juicy carne asada plate with two chipotle topped lobster tails that was an elegant plate and experience to say the least I watched her smile with each bite and there was enough to bring half home .. Also if you like stuffed shrimp this is the place as well great for a local date night great to just catch a game and I liked the alluring decor there's beautifully art work from the Nayrit region here and gorgeous murals painted inside if you want a real Michelin worthy experience I suggest you try those lobsters! The service was prompt polite and kind look for Betza ! She's wonderfully polite and friendly as well as attentive A/C is being adjusted so just have patience but I am sure they'll have that worked on soon . Gorgeous place to have a great time dining out ! This is a fancy local place for a fun date without any LA traffic ! And there's a wonderful selection of seafood as well as tacos and the vegetables they serve are so good they're simple but thinly sliced and look a lot like pickles or a spicy garnish but instead they're freshly sliced and gorgeously sautéed in a fine rich artisanal cream sauce.

Yelp
Place is trash. Don't be fooled by the good reviews. If you're looking for a full course meal, this place is NOT for you. This is more of an appetizer/botanas restaurant that won't get you full and you'll still leave feeling hungry. Portions are crazy small and ridiculously expensive. $30+ for 4 tiny pieces of meat, one small scoop of vegetables, and 2 tablespoons of beans. Are you freaking kidding me????!! $6 for one small fish taco! Seriously? The menu and prices are extremely flabbergasting. The birria tacos were atrocious too. We ended up spending $200 on barely any food and everyone left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. The restaurant was completely empty when I arrived, and now I know why. This place is highway robbery. No need to go to the hood, just come to this restaurant and you'll get robbed even faster. This place charges as if it were a Gordon Ramsay Las Vegas restaurant when in actuality, they're a trivial joint in El Monte. Please save your wallet's life and go elsewhere.

Yelp
I liked this place after my first visit, but wanted to come back again to double check - and yup, it's delicious. Pros: 1. The shrimp gobernador taco is bomb. So toasty and flavorful and wonderful, I don't know of any other place that has anything quite like it. 2. The aguas frescas are super delicious (not watered down). 3. The ceviche here is fresh and plentiful - you get a big bowl and I like the unique flavors you can choose from. [Also note that I like the regular cooked shrimp better than the one with half cooked shrimp and half raw shrimp, which sounded intriguing but wasn't my jam]. Cons: 1. The tostadas that come with the ceviche are too hard for my taste - I prefer to just use the regular tortilla chips that come with the chips and salsa.

Yelp
OK, I apologize, but I have no pictures. I've been meaning to post something on XECORA for years. Our first visit was when they first opened their location in Montebello. Soon after, we discovered the location in El Monte; the food and the quality is outstanding. I love their vegetarian options; their marinade, and sauces are something I had never tried before until I came to Xecora. I was just there recently, on July 9, 2024, and I tried the Pescado Sarandero it was (Bass fish) and it was Amazing! Always on Point. The drinks options are great. This Restuarant Just Remind Me of being in Condesa-Roma in Mexico City. I Love There Art on the walls and colors. I would totally recommend this place. Please open one in Whittier.
