The 9 Best Paella In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"If Xerta looks fancy, that’s because it is. Gentlemen in sharp suits and ladies with purses that look like they cost more than college tuition come to this cream-colored restaurant surrounded by a terrarium-like garden inside of the Ohla Eixample hotel for the over-the-top, seafood-forward tasting menus. The arroz—made with ingredients from the marshy wetlands of the Delta del Ebro region south of Barcelona, where most of Catalonia sources its rice is worthy of Willy Wonka’s factory: it emerges from a miniature thatched house with a smoking chimney and caviar-topped tuna sashimi is served on a bed of dry ice. You can sample it à la carte, or during the 8- and 11-course dinner (€105-€135) and more down-to-earth €55 weekday lunch." - isabelle kliger

"If you’re unfamiliar with the natural bounty of the Ebro Delta, a visit to this restaurant in Barcelona is a must to savour the flavours of a region that has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve. Accessed via the lobby of the Ohla Eixample hotel, Xerta boasts a contemporary dining room with views of the kitchen. Chef Fran López, who trained and worked for three years with French maestro Alain Ducasse, showcases the flavours of his home region, providing guests with an opportunity to discover its superb gastronomy (eel, oysters, rice etc - 90% of his ingredients are sourced from here) from a creative perspective. The à la carte, which also features an array of delicious rice dishes and always showcases seasonal ingredients (sea cucumbers, galera shrimp, blue crab, wild mushrooms etc), is complemented by four set menus: Ejecutivo (lunchtimes, excluding public holidays, Monday to Friday), Delta, Degustación and Homenaje." - Michelin Inspector

The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona 2024

You can try the highlights of the 8- and 11-course dinner (€105-€162) in a more down-to-earth format during weekday lunch, €45. It includes a selection of fresh-as-it-gets fishy snacks—like mussels, eel, or tuna, depending on what's available at Delta del Ebro market, followed by a rice option, a meat or fish dish, and dessert. It also includes bread, water, and two glasses of wine per person, because, Spain. " - isabelle kliger

I was surprised with this place by my girlfriend and was very satisfied. Above all, the staff must be particularly well evaluated here. Nice, courteous personalities with good expertise and charm. The house wine is fantastic, I like the balance of freshness and creaminess, very typical for good Garnacha Blanca from the Terra Alta. The interpretation of the dishes is fabulous and resembles the narrative of southern Catalan cuisine. Convince yourself with the pictures, because there is nothing wrong with the food and the menu. Thank you for the beautiful time in your establishment, gladly again!

We had such a special and wonderful time here at Xerta for our anniversary! We had the chefs selection with the wine pairing. Each and every dish was better than the last!!!! The wine paired perfectly with each dish presented. The staff was so attentive and kind and explained each dish and each wine to us. It was a 10/10 experience that we will always remember. Highly recommend you go if you're in town!

The food is wonderful with an Instagram-worthy presentation. Although the dishes are a little on the salty side, the flavor pairs beautifully with a glass of red wine. While I wish the portion sizes were a bit larger, the styling and taste more than make up for it. (Check out the photos in the “Product Menu” for a visual treat!) The service is truly exceptional. The staff takes the time to introduce every dish and explain the intended eating sequence. Their thoughtful gestures—even providing a bucket of water for our flowers—add a personal touch that makes the dining experience even more memorable.

It’s a wonderful dining experience with nice atmosphere, service and amazing food. The appetizers are great, the squid ravioli is like fresh and unique. The flavor of the pork roll is so good and the mixture of the different food items are well considered. Amazing!

I had the full tasting menu and it was one of the worst 1 Michelin Star restaurant I’ve tried yet. The dishes started strong but from a certain point, it all went downhill. They served a dish with cod and sea cucumber, and the cod was chewy (rubbery) and had a hard piece of something that the wait staff told me was “crispy cod skin”. I’ve eaten crispy fish skin before and that wasn’t it. They also had a meat dish that was just.. dry. This is the first Michelin Star restaurant that I left disappointed and where I can’t wait to get the check and just leave 😭

While I knew I had made a mistake as soon as I looked at the menu, I realized this wasn't the top paella restaurant that a waiter elsewhere had recommended. I said I'd finish my Sangria, pay, and leave. They said the lobster rice would definitely meet my paella expectations. Okay, they did give me some unexpected morsels. A bread slice was served (and later replaced with an additional slice) and (tap?) water was poured into my water glass. I requested neither, but accepted as they were presented. Unbeknownst to me, these were not gratis. The delivery of my rice dish in a smoking house was forced and awkward. Given that my stated desire was seafood paella... it was mediocre. I finished the small serving and paid (surprised about the water and bread on the bill).

Conveniently located inside a hotel that shares their space with a sushi spot. I of course opted for the wine pairing. They have 3 options for the welcome drink. I opted for the yellow colored one. I’m however forgetting the name of it. The degustation menu is what I ended up getting instead of the one with two less dishes. They make one amazing dish which is the rice. It is so perfectly cooked. I feel like not one person who has had it would say they didn’t like it. The presentation alone had me so hyped. It was so good I found myself crying tears of joy. Like it wouldn’t stop to the point that I started to laugh at myself at the ridiculosity of it all. My table happened to have a great view of the kitchen. It was great to see the team as they worked as a team to get shit handled. The service was above and beyond. The floor team did a perfect job pacing every dish. Someone always refilled my water. The sommelier was amazing. He rolled out a cart of all the bottles used for the pairing. He handled the rude, drunk woman so graciously. That could never be me. I would’ve called her out for her rudeness. But he took her comments like a champ and turned it around
