"Xi’An Famous Foods has quickly become a mini empire, with locations throughout the city. The spicy cumin lamb noodles and “burger” sandwiches are about as good a spicy cheap meal as you can find. Xi’an’s presence in Midtown is great because this area desperately needs more cheap and delicious things to eat for lunch. If you spend your weekdays here, you’re already aware of this. And if you don’t, screw you and your perfect life. As a matter of fact, I hope that free artisan salad you eat in a beautiful loft every day puts your start up out of business. I mean it. You don’t know this kind of suffering. Do expect lines. Food Rundown photo credit: Emily Schindler Liang Pi Cold Skin Noodles An excellent cold noodle dish served with seitan (wheat gluten). This is actually a pretty tame option in terms of spices, and it’s really good. Vegan too. photo credit: Emily Schindler Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger One of the “famous” things from Xi’an Famous Foods. This little “burger” is more like a Chinese English muffin stuffed with fragrant lamb, but it’s good no matter what you call it. And at $3 each, you’ll probably want more than one. Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles Another notorious dish. This is the same meat as what you’ll find in the burger, but instead mixed in with some jagged looking noodles that are a little al dente and amazing. It’s greasy, but it’s good. photo credit: Emily Schindler Stewed Oxtail Hand-Ripped Noodles in Soup A beefy, brothy soup, this one is an excellent move on a cold day. Anything oxtail here is actually a pretty solid move. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Hand-Ripped Noodles This dish will pretty much blast your face off. These noodles are slicked in spicy chili oil, to the point that your lips will be numb in a few seconds. We love it, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. Spicy & Tingly Lamb Face Salad That’s right. A lamb face salad. That’s served cold. This thing is delicious." - Chris Stang

"Along with a miniature Statue Of Liberty replica and a beer on the ferry after work, the best way to spend $10 in FiDi is lunch at Xi’an Famous Foods. Get two spicy cumin lamb burgers, or the intensely spicy hand-ripped noodles, and sit at a counter seat along the wall or eat in Zuccotti Park a block away." - Matt Tervooren

Absolutely floored away by the food here. Everything we ordered was amazing. I’ve had their lamb burger in the past and loved it but this time I was accompanying my vegetarian friend and chose to try veggie dishes instead and they were so good! The server was very accommodating of my friend’s dietary preference and even made one of the dishes meatless by removing pork. Definitely going back and with a larger crew so we can try out more dishes.

We drive down from Oakland to come here for Shaanxi food — their handmade noodles & 凉皮 are the best!

Google
You must try braised chicken with potato & pepper (big plate chicken in Chinese)!!! Please see my photos of this dish for both in-store and togo. They are both very delicious; the main difference is about the noodles, which are dryer and more sticky for the togo version. The plate is huge; we still got lots of chicken left after two people are full. The dry fried cauliflower tastes good for me. But my friend felt it was fried and too oily.

Google
This place used to be super popular. I remember in 2019, I need to wait one hour to get a table. I recommend any noodle with lamb. Gluten noodle ( lang pi ,涼皮) is also delicious.

Google
This restaurant has the authentic Xian cooking that was attracted to me. I like the healthy way of cooking and tasty method.the only issue for me is the meat, not tender. The interior design and the decoration of the rastaurant are wonderful.

Google
This restaurant serves Shaanxi style street food. A good number of lamb based dishes that are pretty authentic. They have a special "sandwich" that can be found on the street of the region, similarly the noodle dish and the bread dough in lamb soup. This only thing keeping them from a 5 star is the portion of meat vs the portion of noodles or dough. A couple of tiny bits of meat in the big bowl of carbs... wished it's not that authentic. The wide noodle in dry sauce is also very good.

Google
Pretty decent place to get Xi'an style food. There are big posters on the wall to describe the most famous Xi'an dishes, but they are in Chinese only.

Harry Hao

Google
The taste is very authentic, the noodles taste very good and the portion is very generous. There were three of us and we did not finish our food. Meat pie and noodles are very recommended!

Yelp
Food: 1. Pita Bread soaked in Beef/Lamb 2. Garlic sauce with noodle Pita bread soaked in beef/lamb The "beef/lamb" means you get to choose between beef OR lamb. We chose beef. Relative to the amount of pita, I didn't think there was a lot of beef. For the cost, it was an okay amount of beef. It did seem like SO much pita bread cubes. The pita didn't seem fresh and it was chewy. Once it cools down there was diminishing returns on a bowlful of soggy pita cubes. Tip: piping hot soup goes well on a cold/rainy day Garlic sauce with noodle It doesn't photograph as well, though we appreciated that the noodle/soup came separate from the sauce. That way the spice level can be regulated. Tip: dip in one noodle at a time and then rinse of excess in the soup. Helps keep each bite from being too spicy and then helps add flavor to the soup.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of biang biang style noodles (I think), and Xian kitchen was recommended to me as a great location for the dish. I went here about a year ago and had a notably unremarkable experience with their special hot oil noodle - the texture was not (IMO) QQ enough and flavor wise things just weren't "hitting". Perhaps I'm too big a fan of the other places in the bay area for this dish (qq noodle, ok noodle, etc) I went in here a second time in May and unfortunately things hadn't gotten any better. This time, I tried the pork bun which came back WAY too salty. And this is from a guy who loves/needs salty food to function (my body loves to sweat and smell bad - sorry!). Thankfully, the servers were kind and attentive enough to give us a new pork bun dish with less salt...but only because they put in significantly less meat! I opted for the hometown style noodle with vegetable and pork. Again, the flavors here were just...off. So was the texture of the noodle. A bit too much of a bite (for me). Maybe this is the most authentic place on the planet - I can't really speak on that credibly. I will say it's not somewhere I'm visiting again in the future.

Yelp
Food: very authentic Chinese cuisine and their specialty is noodles in north west region local food. The portion here is pretty huge, so my friends and I are always eat half and keep half for dinner whenever we don't feel like cooking the dinner. Biang Biang noodle (spicy oil) is very recommended as your first thing to start here! Service: Very nice yet since most of the customers are Asian, they tend to serve with Chinese first but no need to worry about communication. Ambiance: very casual and a bit small.

Ethel C.

Yelp
Always a very safe favorite spot to go to when hankering for satisfying clear lamb broth noodles or spiced up cumin lamb dry noodles. The lamb noodles come with a hot broth that's very addictive, and slippery broad noodles. Add a dash of chilli! And haven't found a place that makes better liang pi (cold and gelatinous rice noodle appetizer dish) and serves such a hefty portion. You can order the version without peanut sauce. The servers are fast and courteous. It's a small place, the doors have this funny mirror tint on it so sometimes it even looks closed but then you open it and see it can be pretty full of people slurping away on their noms. I wouldn't say it's the most well maintained and decorated place, quite the opposite, but it's very good food and crazy authentically good.

Wenjun K.

Yelp
The onion fried mutton is super tasty, highly recommended, the other two dishes- braised eggplant, potato and pepper; and Braised beef brisket with dried beancurd was not what I expected. The delivery is fast during weekdays' dinner time, the other time I went there over weekend, it's super crowded, so you know when to go now.

Zoey L.

Yelp
Xian Noodles is a very cozy spot in Milpitas; inside a plaza where there are many other restaurants, 99 ranch, and boba spots! This location is self served by scanning their QR code, and you order from the mobile app. The mobile app comes with lot of flexible adjustment to your food like... less/more oily, less/more spicy, and etc. The food came out pretty quick, and quite big portions too! The only downside side is that, a lot of the dishes were too oily and missing some taste, but they have sauces on the table for you to add on if needed.

Maliyamu K.

Yelp
Worst food I have even had in my life. Worst came imagine the taste I did to go the food. Just very bad

Jinan L.

Yelp
*** Takeout alarm*** Absolutely don't try it with takeout orders. We order a $19 lamb pao mo and there isn't any piece of lamb inside. Perhaps only costs $5 in food ingredients.

Beini L.

Yelp
Cheap and authentic. Chinese burgers are really good. The restaurant is busy on weekends.

Krithika S.

Yelp
This place deserves all the love it can get. Being a vegetarian there's not many options in the menu for me here, but I'm a regular customer of their hot oil noodles ( biang biang mien ). Noodles are hand-made and perfectly chewy, comes with a generous topping of scallions and flavorful hot oil with garlic. It's some of the best noodles I've had in my life. Such a simple dish, but makes for a happy stomach. Service is effective, and they are very considerate of any customization you want.

Furby W.

Yelp
Delicious food. Very impressed by their noodles (hand made?), side dishes are very tasty too.

Bing C.

Yelp
The signature dish of Xian is the lamb with bum. The dish offered here is definitely Americanized with hot water. It's so far from Xian, you might as well call it any Northern Chinese food. It's a damn shame to call the place Xian Kitchen. The owner should go to Xian and really learn the dishes. Will never return. Sad for people from Xian that there isn't a true authentic place to around here.

Hannah C.

Yelp
We stopped through Milpitas on our way from Monterey to San Jose and loved this restaurant. Our party of 4 was seated immediately. Ordering is done online with photos of dishes, as well as chinese and english menu. This place serves Shaanxi dishes, including rou jia mo ('Chinese hamburger', a pita-like bread stuffed with braised slices of beef or pork with some fresh garnishes) a variety of noodle soups as well as the iconic yang rou pao mo (bits of pita-like bread scattered over a piping bowl of lamb/mutton stew). I tried the latter dish and enjoyed it, though was truly too stuffed to attempt to finish it. We also all shared an order of the beef roll, which is a scallion pancake rolled up with slices of braised beef. The pancake was thin and had the just-right chewy texture, and the beef was flavorful. Staff were very friendly, and service was quick!

Tammy Y.

Yelp
Stir fried noodles were very oily and oil had a bad taste to it, like it had been used to deep fry food prior. Took 2 bites and didn't bother taking it home. Mom almost threw up after. Seems like the soup noodles are a better option. We had the one with pita bread chopped up in it, interesting and unique, but wouldn't get it again. This at least wasn't incredibly oily or salty but very minimal other toppings (3 thin slices of meat and very few veggies)

Matthew C.

Yelp
Got the special noodle with meat and vegetable. It was tasty, but it took a long time to make and the menu was incredibly confusing to order from. A lot of items lack pictures and lack descriptions, so you sort of just guess from the name of the item. It's definitely a more chinese-speaker friendly place, but the food was good. English menu just needs a little work.

Eric J.

Yelp
Authentic north style Chinese food. hamburger are pretty good and cold noodles are tasty

Scott P.

Yelp
It was really tasty but somewhat difficult to navigate. We got biangbiang noodles, fried rice, and a beef stir fry noodle. Even with English, the menu is somewhat difficult to navigate, but overall the food was tasty and I'd love to come here again after getting more familiar with this regional cuisine.

Ya Y.

Yelp
Came to Xi'an Kitchen for a late dinner, and I was craving noodles. So I ordered a bowl of Biang Biang noodle with toppings, and a bowl of cold noodle with chili oil. Their portions were big, noodles were chewy, and sauces were flavorful! The cold noodle one was a little too oily for me though.

Benjamin T.

Yelp
BUG ALERT!!! Not only were the waiters too lazy to clean up but totally have the time to sit around and swipe at their god damn phones, there was also A BUG IN OUR FOOD!

Xiaoying S.

Yelp
Came here after hiking with a bunch of friends to grab lunch. We ordered stir fried cabbage and a tofu dish, which were served pretty fast before our noodles. I got the noodle with tomato and eggs, which came in a big bowl (although the soup noodles came in an even bigger bowl!). Towards the end the noodles started to get a big bland, so I'd hope there're more topping or sauce! I like the fact that their menu is quite long, but the restroom is not super tidy.

Lily J.

Yelp
Great food, very nice people and excellent service! We loved all dishes ordered for our dinner tonight, authentic and delicious... we def will come back next time when we visit the area.

Jerry Y.

Yelp
Pros: - Noodles are hand made and a big variety of Shaanxi cuisine especially with chili oils - Family own and local business - Uses waiting list to help with the wait times Cons: - Not kids friendly as everything is spicy and oily - Service is super slow especially the noodle soups (Took 50min from order to table) while the dry dishes came out right away. The wait for a table for party of 6 took about 1.5hrs .. wait too slow! - Have to order through the QR code which has a horrible user interface and really hard to find dishes Overall, most likely won't be returning or if i do i'll go when they first open to avoid the wait and hopefully have faster service

Tammye B.

Yelp
First of all, the hand pull noodles were really good. Great texture and plenty of it. The bowls were big and filled with hot soup. The spicy soup was quite numbing. Great if that's your jam. The beef noodles soup was good for non spicy eaters. I deducted 1 star because the QR code menu asked if you wanted English and still had items without English text or photos. We had to ask the staff what everything was. Overall a good solid 4-4.5.

Da X.

Yelp
Food are very delicious even better than most restaurants in China, fit for friends but not business dinner. One thing dislike is has request you to scan to order, and the internet connection is so bad.

Kristin L.

Yelp
They have the best, authentic Xian noodles in the bay area. Tried all the noodle dishes, nothing disappointed me. Good flavor, good portion! Service was ok. One time I found lipstick on one of those water glasses tho.

Crystal G.

Yelp
Pretty damn delicious. I loved all the flavors. We ordered two noodle dishes, one of their crispy sandwiches, and a stir fried vegetable dish. The dry mixed liangpi was so gooood. I definitely wanted more. The noodles were long and fun to eat. You order via your cellphone by tablet. The English translation is a bet muddled but they have pictures for most of their dishes. The place is pretty small, it definitely gives me hole in the wall vibes. Their sandwich was two fried savory buns and there was some sort of vegetables, fish tofu and crunchy tofu skin I believed in there as well as a sauce. I'm pretty happy with it and I'd love to come back.

Shirley L.

Yelp
Overall- We enjoyed our food, especially living on the peninsula where you just don't have the same amount of Chinese food options [south of Millbrae] as you do in Fremont, Milpitas, Cupertino etc. Greasy but delicious! Pretty fast service, a little mixed but overall good, and accommodating of our baby and toddler. Parking in this Ranch 99 (or rather, 99 Ranch) lot can be a major pain but in general the turnover is fast so you can find a spot and get some groceries, boba and pastries afterwards. Food / Dishes- We ordered the home style noodle with pork, eggplant and pork, and the green beans. Actual dishes were good but super oily - be warned and I would expect you are in the mood for rice with these. Noodles were still my fave - very good, tasted a tiny bit italian with some of the seasoning (in a good way), but those thick flat wide noodles were definitely Asian and the perfect texture of chewy. Would definitely order this again. Prices - Super reasonable for large portions. Service - Our server was not amazing ie I asked for a serving spoon and he gave me two tiny plastic spoons, I asked for takeout boxes to pack up leftovers and he gave my styrofoam boxes vs the plastic covered containers that would make much more sense for noodles and dishes with a fair amount of oil. That said there was another guy who helped us when I asked. Overall seems like some young guys who are waiting tables who are fluent in both English and Mandarin. Ambiance - Two decent sized outdoor tables and a decent number of indoor tables. Loud music, crowded, but not too bad. Other - High chairs available upon request. Two outdoor tables that seat 4-6. Menu less - order online via app.

Ee Vonn Y.

Yelp
Big Plate Chicken with Noodles - Must order! So much food to last us for 2-3 days. The peppercorn kick is one of my favorite things about Xian-styled foods, and this had plenty of peppercorn to pass around. Every bite was bursting with flavor. Cooked shredded cabbage - On the plainer, traditional side. Healthy and light. Sweet and sour pork fillet - Like orange chicken but pork and lighter. Next time try: - Sesame cake - Chinese mix food casserole or rice noodle casserole - Braised eggplant and potato with pepper - Quick fried mutton slices with scallions - Special hot oil noodle vegetable egg no Pork - Cake - tea flavored egg and veget burger

Ginny R.

Yelp
One of my favorite xi an food restaurant in bay area. Love the big plate chicken, cold noodle, cold dishes that you can choose and mix. Everything is so tasty and authentic. A lot of choices and you will not be disappointed.

James C.

Yelp
涼皮 很香 很Q 羊肉泡饃 好香 好吃 好大碗 羊雜 加點 不錯。心 肝 肚 腸 不錯 孜然牛肉炒拉條 肉夾饃 豬腥味有點重

Katherine T.

Yelp
I mean maybe I'd come here as my last meal on earth. Not bc I liked it so much but because I feel like it's gonna kill my anyways. It's SOOOOO greasy. My bf eats unhealthy and even he thought it was way too oily. He also will eat anything and asked to not come back. Got the lamb stew soup and was so disappointed that there was barely any meat. The beef stew noodle soup had a bit more meat. Both were sooooo oily though. I mean the flavor was decent. I guess if you just really wanted noodles and flavorful oil soup then it's ok? I came here because it was the only noodle soup place open nearby and I was starving. I think next time I'm starving I wouldn't come back. If someone handed it to me, then yeah I'd still eat it. So 2 stars it is.

Coco N.

Yelp
Do not order their Liangpi to go. The worse I have ever had. It's a joke. Nothing tastes like Liangpi. I threw it away after only a couple of bites. Disgusting forgot to take pics

Changling L.

Yelp
Found this plastic piece until we almost finished... OMG Be careful for take-out guys

Jenny W.

Yelp
I have to say wasn't as impressed as I was hoping to be. The liangpi was soft but it's a heftier version than I like, and I wish there had been some more garnishes to add some textural diversity. I also wish I had gotten it with the sesame paste sauce. The roujiamo was super oily, which I didn't love. Also got their tomato and egg noodles, and while I liked the noodles, the tomato and egg sauce itself felt lacking. All in all, not a bad meal, just I've had better renditions of all these dishes elsewhere that suit my tastes better.

Shaun H.

Yelp
If I had to describe Xian Kitchen in one word: LEGIT! The food served here is 100% authentic Shaanxi cuisine. We visited this restaurant a few times pre-pandemic, and now that we're venturing out again we have been back twice. The food and service are just as good as they have ever been. The most popular dish here is probably their massively portioned Da Pan Ji, a giant plate containing very long, wide, thick, chewy handmade noodles in a savory, slightly spicy sauce with chicken, potato, and other veggies. This one dish can easily feed 5 people. When the two of us get it we end up with 2 meals of leftovers. Another favorite is their tasty rouburger, aka Chinese Hamburger. We like to order this because it comes out fast and is pre-cut in half so we can both nosh on it while waiting for our other selections to be prepared. Other stand-outs are the pan fried noodle with choice of beef, egg, pork or lamb and the stewed lamb soup. Liang Pi is a favorite of my lady's. We get it many places. Here it is fine but not the best so we pass over it usually. Their fried jelly is tasty, but the portion is too big and it doesn't hold up well as leftovers, but if you have a larger group this is a must-try. Their chili oil condiment is deluxe, better than other places. Like a lot of places post-pandemic, Xian Kitchen uses a contactless ordering system. Just point your mobile device's camera at the QR code on the table and a menu pops up in Chinese or English. Order on-screen and hit send to submit the choices to the kitchen. Xian Kitchen has always done a lot of take-out business, they have a long table covered in pickup bags, and this likely sustained them through the hard times. Now, in addition to a temporary tent in the parking lot holding 4 tables their indoor dining is back. I really hope the powers-that-be allow restaurants to keep their outside dining for some good reasons. Having the outdoor tables could increase capacity, possibly boosting sales in a time when eateries need to recapture lost revenue. Also in the dreadful event there is a resurgence of COVID the outdoor options remain available. Outdoor dining is also still safer and I prefer to use it when I can. Xian Kitchen is current one of my favorite places. I recommend it.

Kai B.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and don't order through their qmenu.us website. They don't accept orders through the website and won't tell you. Overall success seems to have gone to their heads and they seem to not try to make up for that error.

Dounya M.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience here. We happened to be in the area for a chess tournament and came upon this restaurant without reading any reviews. We ordered Hot & Sour soup, beef fried rice, and vegetarian chow mein. The food was great and came out in no time! Moreover, we enjoyed the pot of hot tea. Service was efficient & friendly. Would definitely recommend!

David L.

Yelp
Very authentic Xi'an food! Pao Mo, Rou jia mo, and noodles are exactly the same as I had in China. Hui main is not recommended though. The environment is definitely not good but very Chinese street restaurants style. You can expect only the basic service. But food for me is the most important thing.

Xuan Z.

Yelp
Stopped by multiple times. It is the best Xian Style Chinese food of Bay Area. My husband used to stay four years at Xian. He said the pita bread soaked in lamb soup is very very similar to the dish he had back in Xian. Almost every time, he ordered this dish. For me, I love the cold noodle with sesame sauce, three chili oils noodle and braised spicy beef noodle soup. Also the cold dishes combination is another favorite by us, you could choose up to three cold dishes, just $6.99. It is really a great deal. Although the menu does not have various choice, you could always choose the classic and popular dishes here. The staff is friendly here. Rice app has 10% discount. Remember that it is cash only. If you do not have the cash at hand, Venmo works as well.

Vivienne C.

Yelp
Tried this place out on a whim mid-afternoon on a weekend and was quite surprised there were still a couple of tables filled in-store. I believe they also have a patio area for outdoor dining if you so chose. Ordered the Big Plate Chicken with Noodles and it was so good! They don't give a lot of noodles, but the portion sizes are HUGE, definitely can feed 4 people if you add in some noodles on your own. I really like how wide and thin the noodle is so it can grab a lot of the sauce, which has a lot of that Sichuanese peppers flavors. The potatoes are usually my favorite part of this dish, and this place is not exception. The chicken is pretty standard. Overall, I really liked the dish we got and will definitely come back for more.

Laura L.

Yelp
Cash only! I'm not sure why the ratings for this place are so low; we were really happy with this place and thought the service was pretty good as well with the convenient iPad system. Here's hoping their rating improves soon. If there's a wait, you'll have to sign in on the iPad outside. We came here on a Saturday night at around 8:30 PM and ended up walking into a packed restaurant with a wait time of about 15 minutes. Not too bad but I was surprised there were that many people eating relatively late. Ordering is also done with the iPad system that even tells you how many times certain items have been ordered! We ordered their most popular dishes: 1. Cold noodle (no sesame AND with sesame) 5/5 I have a hard time deciding if I like the dish with sesame or without, but we ended up ordering one of each. I think in this case I liked the dish with sesame since it made it kind of creamy with a nutty taste. I like that they give quite a large portion of noodles (more than QQ noodle) and the texture of the noodles is great too! Very thickly sliced noodles with some gluten and cucumber mixed in. 2. Special hot oil noodle (Biang biang noodle) 5/5 These noodles were springy in texture and delicious! I like that the dish didn't feel too oily even though they literally pour hot oil on top of the noodles. I also didn't see much black vinegar in the dish which is usually a staple but maybe it was there and I didn't taste it. 3. Pork rouburger 4/5 This rouburger was pretty good but I did think it was a bit on the dry side. The outside of the burger was hard and the inside was soft and fluffy which is exactly what it should be. The meat portion was pretty good too, although I do wish they had some more "juice" to the meat so that it wouldn't have been too dry. 4. Noodle of soy bean paste sauce (zha jiang mian) 3.5/5 We only ordered this item because someone in our group really does not like to eat spicy food. If you're nervous about that for the other items, don't be because you can customize the level of spice for everything, and even when we ordered the normal versions of the items above, they were not that spicy at all. With that being said, i thought this dish was just okay. It wasn't bad but I definitely would not recommend it over any of the other items we got! I was really pleased with everything we ordered here! I'll definitely be coming back since I thought the food was excellent with large portions at a decent price. Only con is the wait time which I heard can be pretty bad at typical eating time.

Jack F.

Yelp
Saw a fly in my soup noodle, they did no say sorry but gave me $2.7 discount as attached showed. Very disgusting and badly operated restaurant. Never ever go!!!! A fly in my soup!!!!!

Sara S.

Yelp
A die hard fan of Xi'an food, I am happy to say this restaurant makes the cut! The self-ordering system through iPad was an exciting and convenient experience, allowing us to browse through the menu and selections at our own leisure. Prices are decent and portions are very large! Only down-side is that dishes are more on the oily side... - Cold noodle w/ sesame (5/5): my all time favorite! Will have to try w/o sesame next time to compare. - Special hot oil noodle (Biang biang noodle) (5/5): Noodle texture and thickness were on point. May have to say it was the best biang biang noodle I have had! - Braised chicken w/ potato and green pepper (3/5): We finally ventured to try this dish as it is humongous!! Sadly, it was a little disappointing because it was made of curry base. Nothing too special. All the chicken pieces have bones in them, and there may be stray bones in the dish, so be careful of your teeth! Also has noodles in it! All in all, I'm so happy to have found a Xi'an restaurant in NorCal. Will definitely be returning!

Mandy C.

Yelp
Ordered two fried vegetable burger. One burger is around $10 w/ only vegetable and bun. I am OK w/ the price if the food tastes ok. This dish is so salty and oily... It is not just salty a little bit, it was extremely salty! I consider myself as a person w/ very heavy taste. However, I think this is definately too salty and oily to me... Probably better if you eat in the store since the vegetable is fried. However, I do not think I will visit next time upon this price and flavor of this restaurant.

Christa N.

Yelp
Super fresh food. Friendly service. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Honestly, we loved everything. I don't understand the bad reviews. We will definitely go back here.

Mario B.

Yelp
For the people saying this is the best Xi'an food they've had outside of China, I'm so sorry to hear that. I am not even comparing it to LA but even just the Bay Area, and arguably the very same plaza, has better Xi'an food. That's not to say it's not authentic; just that it's not very good. Thankfully now you can sign up online so you don't have to wait forever to get seated and can plan accordingly. They are still figuring out how the whole online sign-up thing works so be patient with them. Also if you have a small party of 2-3, you might end up having to share a table. Let's get this out of the way. As everyone has said, the service is downright terrible. That's even by Chinese restaurant standards. If you don't have a mandarin speaker in your group, I'd imagine it only gets worse. But hey, if the food is amazing, you can overlook all that, right? Too bad it isn't. We had the special hot oil noodle w/ tomato & egg and spicy noodles with pork. Both were perfectly mediocre and I'm being slightly generous here. You can tell the ingredients in the tomato and egg noodles weren't even fresh. It tasted bland. The spicy noodles with pork wasn't even that spicy. The noodles were soggy. And even worse, the small bits of pork were dry even after being drenched in the soup. There are far better Chinese restaurants in South Bay, even if you are specifically seeking food from Xi'an. It wasn't bad but it's certainly not a place that makes me consider returning any time soon.

Yelp
OMG! WE FINALLY FOUND OUR FAVORITE CHINESE BEEF NOODLE SOUP IN THE BAY AREA. I should tell you we have tried hundreds of Asian noodle places within California to Vegas and this is SO FAR THE BEST we had! Strong beef soup base and we are NOT THIRSTY after the meal. If you have noticed, many places after you finished eating you have to drink lots of water caz they put tones of MSG in the soup and this one we are not thirsty at all. Beef is tender, the thick noodle is handmade, good portion, plus the garnish of cilantro and green onions give a refreshing taste in the soup. We ordered the original flavor, next time will try the spicy one. We also ordered the chives and pork dumplings. Generous portion of stuffings in every dumplings. This is the northern style type of Chinese dumplings, so they have thicker dumpling skin. Taste like the ones in Beijing. Very good. You can select with serving in soup or no soup, and we ordered without soup. Eat with dark vinegar and their house made chili oil. We don't live close but we will definitely drive to Milpitas for the noodle soup again when I have my day off! This place is a very very Chinese restaurant. Eat and leave. Just focus on the food. Cash only.

Yelp
3.5 The noodles are the star of the show. Theyre those wide knife cut ones. The broth and etc was solid but could be better. Food- Qishan style Grand Pork Burger: Good but not $6.5 good. Its really small. The buns (maybe its a pita) coulda been softer. Meat is like a diced/cubed marinated "spicy" pork. I liked it but its def overpriced. Its honestly as small as a single cheeseburger at mcdonalds. Special Hot oil Noodle w/ tomato and eggs: Really good. Wish they spread the spice all around instead of just one lil section though. The spice really changes up and adds to the tomato/egg gravy. Noodles were perfect. Hot and spicy braised beef stew Noodle Soup: The broth was just alright. It has a hint of that szechuan peppercorn thing goin on, which some people might like. Appreciate that the beef wasnt too fatty, but it def was not that tender. Maybe the regular beef noodle soup woulda been better. It uses the same noodles as previously mentioned. Overall, a very solid noodle and Xian spot.

Yelp
I would not mind coming here again, but if I do, it will be the final verdict on if I would come here a third time or not. Anyhow, I came here with 3 others for a weekend dinner, and we waited about 25-30 minutes. The wait here is still unusually long...and they don't even try to improve their system in any way. Parking: plenty, since it's the same plaza as the other restaurants. Pro tip 1: cash only. Pro tip 2: no reservations. Pro tip 3: no AC in the place- you'll be warm from the body heat in no time. We ordered: 1) A3 Pita bread soaked in stir-frying beef or lamb ($10.99) // +1 I like the lamb soup! -1 Too much pita...plus, it was already pre-cut inside for you, so it already soaked up half the amount of soup before you could eat it. +/-1 Make sure you ask for the sweet garlic and the spicy chili sauce! It's not spicy at all, but it's the right way to eat the dish. 2) A2 Hometown style pork rouburge ($5.99) // +1 I like the "bun"/shell part of it! +1 The cumin flavor is legit! I've had other places that just tasted like curry powder +/-1 Kind of pricey... 3) A6 QiShan Noodles with Grand Pork ($10.29) // +/-1 SO this is the dish that they incorrectly ordered for us. We wanted A8 instead +1 I like how chewy/al dente the noodles are, but it might not be for everyone -1 No meat in it, besides super fatty pieces of pork fat (redundant?) +/-1 Soup base is really red- it's just a lot of chili pepper/hot oil. 4) B12 Lamb stewed noodle ($10.99) // +1 Lots of soup! Few slices of lamb. +/-1 The picture shows glass noodles, but you'll get the knife-cut noodles in stead. -1 That's it? Service: mediocre. The girl put in the wrong order and was scared to tell the chef...and tried to make us keep the dish that we clearly did not order. I blatantly told her she was the one who put in the wrong order, and that as a compromise, we should at least get the beef from the beef soup (they gave us a pork dish). Luckily, she did go get it. However, it took a really long time before we got it, despite the number of people she was actually serving. Overall, not bad, but would not wait more than 30 minutes for this spot.
