"This new Xi’an restaurant in Williamsburg serves a lot of the same dishes the Xi’an Famous Foods empire popularized in New York City, but has some interesting features of its own, at a similar price point." - Eater Staff

"Another hand-ripped noodle restaurant devoted to the spicy flavors of Xi’an has opened in New York City. Now Williamsburg has a new option for the idolized Chinese noodles with Xi’an Town, which just opened at 165 Bedford Avenue, on Eighth Street. The new restaurant has a menu of hand-ripped noodles, dumplings, and a spicy cumin lamb burger similar to NYC favorite Xi’an Famous Foods, though the two are not related. Xi’an Town also serves appetizers such as cucumber and kelp salads, a chicken burger, pork buns, and vegetable, pork, and lamb dumplings. Dumpling soups are also available, as are plenty of noodle options ranging from cold vegetable and stewed pork noodles to prime short rib and chicken options. Sweet soy milk and juices made from aloe vera and plum are also on tap. Xi’an Town was founded by three women from Xi’an, Jenny Zheng, Jay Zheng, and Helen Zhao, who wanted to change New York’s view on the cuisine by offering options they deem healthy, such as spinach wide noodles and spinach dumplings. The restaurant also claims that its ingredients are organic. A spokesperson says most of the staff is made up of single moms and elderly women, and the goal is to attract families by making the food they once cooked at home for their children." - Carla Vianna

Was invited for tasting, and have to say their hand pulled noodle is so chewy and yummy! Tried the lamb cumin spicy hand pulled noodle, short rib fried noodles, vegetable dumpling and house made plumb juice. My favorite was the hand pulled noodle, usually I don't go for the lamb cumin since several places I tried before, the spices were strong and lamb wasn't so good. Here, lamb was so tender, didn't smell gamy, with mild spicy flavor. You can choose spicy level. Short rib noodle was good too, though slightly salty for my palate, and flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place for some good old handpulled noodle. There are about 5 small tables for seating, and they have water station. Clean inteiroand friendly staff.

The food here is EXCELLENT and you MUST try it. Everything here thus far was above my expectations. The steamed pork buns are fluffy and chewy. The filling tastes delicious, tastes real. The hand-pulled noodles are made to perfection, the broth seasoned just right: neither too salty, not too bland. The meat is so tender it melts. One of favorite appetizers is the black fungus salad, I order that every time, as well as the pork buns. The place is clean, the portions are generous. Nothing here is greasy, lame, or blah. Xi’an Town’s food is at par quality with Birds of a Feather, sans the posh aspect. It is the perfect place to order take-out, prices are good and it is one of my go-to places when I feel I want to stay in, and eat something ultra-tasty without breaking the bank.

Amazing new Chinese spot in Wburg. We got the spicy beef (melt in your mouth) hand pulled noodles (wonderfully chewy), vegetable dumplings (very fresh), and herb tea (tasted home brewed). Will definitely be going back again!

Decent noodle soup and meat, but the “pan fried” dumplings were just deep fried and the “hand pulled” noodles were not hand pulled.

I love hand pulled noodles and spicy food.. but I was sadly disappointed, I really wanted to like this.. but its perhaps just not up to my taste preference.. the noodles itself were way too thick.. like chewing on a thick dumpling skin, the broth lacked the layered rich taste that I usually find in dishes like this, and some of the vegetables were over done, and some just thrown in raw.. :( The place looked clean and the staff were very nice.. the food just lacked the richness and flavor and spice I think it should have had, especially for that price tag

It's okay, but I'd rather make the trip to Manhattan and eat delicious xian food at Xian Famous Foods. I got the pork burger and the flavor was lacking, the texture of the bread was a little mushy. All around a missed opportunity.

Only takeout service. But the place was clean. Service was great. And the food was good. I ate the shrimp and scallop combo and it was delicious.

This place is decent. It ain’t Xian Famous Foods, but it gets the job done. Just wish the lady didn’t keep taking off her mask. I had lamb dumplings. They were okay, my gf had chicken dumplings. I think she liked them, saying they melted in her mouth. Something I come here and the food can be inconsistent. My stomach keeps making noise now too. Not sure what that means. I think this place is a decent Xian Famous Foods backup. Decent.
