Xibei - Review - Arcadia - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Santa Anita mall has more Asian restaurants than shoe stores at this point, but the newest one brings something different to the mix. Xibei focuses on northwestern Chinese specialities like lamb stew, oat noodle salad, peking duck served with flour pancakes, and sweet options like housemade yogurt and chilled sticky rice with millet. Also, the banquet-style dining room looks as big as a basketball court." - Cathy Park

Xibei Brings Northwestern Chinese Cuisine to Santa Anita | Eater LA

"Quietly opened on August 1 at the Shops at Santa Anita in Arcadia, this first U.S. outpost explores the grain-rich, lamb-forward flavors of Northwestern China in a sleek, 11,356-square-foot space with high ceilings, multiple private dining rooms, and a modern dining hall, with a refined bar to debut soon. Operated by China’s Xibei Catering Group and led by executive chef Defei Meng, who grew up in Inner Mongolia and champions “honest, soulful flavors,” the kitchen favors slow-cooked stews, roasted meats, and handmade noodles over quick stir-fries, yielding bold, rich dishes that highlight natural flavors with less oil. Lamb is central—charcoal-grilled lamb chops marinated with cumin, chile, and a proprietary spice blend are popular, served with house-pickled vegetables and a secret dry seasoning, with marinades layering cumin, fennel, dried chile, garlic, and onion powder plus touches of fermented black bean paste, soy sauce, yellow rice wine, or rice vinegar. Signature oat-based specialties include “wowo” honeycomb-shaped noodles in tomato sauce; youmian, chewy, high-fiber oat noodles; and “yuyu” (“fish fish”) noodles in three broths—a tomato soup simmered six hours, a mushroom broth brewed nine, and a lamb soup cooked ten. Even the dumplings use oat flour, with fillings like leek and shrimp or zucchini and egg, and most mains run $15 to $20. Traditional grains beyond oats—millet, barley, and sorghum—also appear, from the Xibei Signature Chilled Golden Millet Sticky Rice dessert to a Xinjiang-style Big Plate Chicken that swaps the usual hand-pulled noodles for wheat seashell-shaped pasta. A nod to Inner Mongolia’s dairy traditions brings housemade yogurt that’s thinner and more tart than Western styles and a Fresh Mongolian Cheese Bing, a chewy griddled bread layered with cheese. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m." - Kristie Hang

So happy to see Xibei finally open in Arcadia! The space is clean and modern, and the service feels genuinely friendly. Tried a few of their signature noodle dishes — perfectly chewy noodles, rich broth, and balanced flavors without being too heavy. It’s the kind of comfort food that hits the spot whether you’re shopping or just craving something warm and authentic. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the overall vibe makes it a great new addition to the mall’s food scene. Definitely coming back to try more! 🍜

This place is on the second floor of Santa Anita mall, the outdoor area. Came here for Northwestern Chinese dishes. I've been trying to find a good place but no luck, so I thought I'd give it a try. It didn't disappoint! All the dishes we ordered were delicious! Servers were friendly and attentive. We came here off peak hour so it was quiet and I loved it. Definitely recommend!

Everything we ordered tasted good. Kids loved the fried rice and cauliflower. We got the - Mongolian beef rib platter, I ordered this one both times I went. - lamb skewers - dry pot cauliflower with pork - simmered beef stew with potatoes and carrots (it was okay will probably not order this one next time) - fried rice with shrimps - crispy fried golden millet bomb with molten brown sugar. I really like this dessert. Fried mochi with hot brown sugar filling. Tried the WoWo before, it was fine and the shredded chicken with cold oak noodles. Service is good, the staff was very nice. And they have private rooms which is a plus.

Tried Xibei in Arcadia and it was great! The beef rib-bone platter was super tender and full of flavor. The Oat Wowo had a nice sweet and sour taste, really fun and kids loved it. The big plate chicken was tasty on the spot, but even better the next day after the flavors settled in. Ended with the golden millet sticky rice, which was refreshing and not too heavy. Will definitely come back.

It was heavenly, but everything was honestly so good! The service was great! The restaurant is Beautiful! We loved it! And cant wait to come back!

I recently visited Xibei at Arcadia Mall, and it was such a wonderful experience! The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I especially loved how fresh the ingredients tasted, and the portions were generous. The staff were warm and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal with family or friends. I will definitely be coming back again and highly recommend this location to anyone who wants to try delicious and satisfying Northern Chinese cuisine.

Google
Tried Xibei for the first time and really enjoyed it! We ordered the roast duck, oat noodles, and lamb shumai. The roast duck was crispy on the outside and tender inside, packed with flavor. The oat noodles were hearty and healthy. The desert was light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness. The lamb shumai had thin wrappers, juicy filling, and an authentic taste. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try authentic Northwestern Chinese cuisine!

Google
One of the best northwest magnolia cuisines that recently came to USA! Back in china I already loved this restaurant and they finally made it here! The highly recommend honey shaped with sweet and sour sauce is a must order! Very soft and the sweet and sour tomato sauce goes perfect. Also highly recommend their beef rib the meat melts in your mouth! Their service is also great!

Yelp
Xebei is fairly new to the Santa Anita Mall, located on the top floor of the outdoor restaurants. The inside is very spacious, chic, but the table cloths are an interesting choice. I was seated immediately and service was consistent throughout my time there. I tried quite a few dishes but a few that stood out to me were the Peking Duck and Truffle Mushrooms. There's lots to love here!

Yelp
I go here for their Peking duck. I ordered half a portion to go for Thanksgiving and ate the whole thing by myself. I like it more than duck house, ji rong and all the other Peking duck places. I've also been to Beijing and had the OG Peking duck. In my opinion theirs is prepared the best out of the three. Service they're very courteous and kind. I recommend you give it a try. It's not Beijing level Peking duck, but the best you'll probably find in LA.

Yelp
Xibei is a Northern Chinese restaurant located on the second floor, external restaurant area near Macys in the Santa Anita Mall. It's in a cavernous facility with super high ceilings, large ceiling-high shelves, and beautiful modern interior. The red and white checkered picnic table covers however don't match the decor. Maybe go with a dark red table cloth?!? Service is polite and helpful with English, Mandarin and Cantonese speakers. Xibei also has numerous specials and the half Peking Duck Special for $84 that easily feeds four is a tasty good deal. I would definitely do again. Where else can you eat Peking Duck along with Salad, Soup, and Garlic Shrimp Glass Noodles in a Clay Pot for $21 a person!?! We also had their Mongolian Beef Bones, 2 bones for $17. Food Evaluation for Three Mains: - Peking Duck, the skin is crispy and expertly carved into small slices with skin & meat, and displayed in a beautiful mound. I must commend the knife skills of the carver. Also the duck was not oily, a similar place has larger slices with double fried skin that is much oilier. Xibei's version is less greasy and beautifully plated. 10 steamed oat skins come with the half duck order. The oat skins are delicate and seem healthier than the more common flour-based skins. - Mongolian Beef Bones, two large braised bones accompanied by cumin spices and a pickled garnish. Cut the meat off the bone and eat it while it's hot. Tastes a little like Cantonese Beef Stew with a slightly sweet, anise, flavor. Tasty and plenty of meat off two ribs to share for four people. Dip in the cumin for a spicier kick. - Garlic Shrimp Glass Noodles in a Clay Pot, six shrimp with cloves of garlic. I still taste the garlic in my mouth the next day. But I love garlic. Overall, I will go back for the Half Duck Combo Special which is a bargain for four people. Service is good with polite and helpful workers.... They cleared away the rib bones after we cut off the meat, announced each dish in Mandarin when brought to the table, and boxed up our leftovers for us. Good job!

Yelp
This is based on their lunch buffet, as we didn't try their dinner menu dishes yet. Through a foodie group I belong to, I heard about this cheap buffet that took over the spot of an upscale restaurant. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how they can charge so little and pay the rent of this large premium location. It's located at the promenade, an outdoor area of the Santa Anita Mall. They were a bit unorganized but we were seated quickly. The buffet area isn't big at all, and during lunchtime, the line gets long but it does move fast. The staff is constantly replenishing items that are low, and sometimes they bring out different items. The food were all just OK. Nothing really stood out except the meatballs. They were very soft and savory. The spicy fish filet, though had the spice I like, was mostly batter. Like several others, we didn't stick around long and just treated this like a quick lunch spot for a decent price. There was no need to go back for seconds. Surprisingly, the staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. That would do well during the higher price dinner crowd. The buffet is 'Once and done' and it answered my curiosity. I might go back for their dinner menu.

Yelp
XiBei replaced Meizhou Dongpo at the Shops at Arcadia Mall. So this is right next to the Haidilao. So for the interior of this place, I have to say it's pretty tacky. I mean I don't know what kind of vibe it was going for. Did it want to be upscale or not? The red and white checker plastic table cover is really out of place and the tables are round so it feels like you're going for a picnic. Some of the stuff they kept from the original restaurant like the TV and the vase/shelf display. The bathrooms are pretty much identical to the previous place but just with new faucets that are too close to the edge so it makes washing hands a pain. So XiBei also exists in China so it was interesting to see it here in the states. Some of the food doesn't exist in China, like XiBei isn't known for Peking Duck but I'm sure they kept it because of the previous restaurant. So I ordered a whole bunch of food ranging from their Shiu Mai, Leek Dumpling, Cold Noodle, Brocolli, Roasted Fish, Scallop and Vermicelli, and cumin lamb. The Shiu Mai did not taste good, I feel like it's undercooked or something because there is raw flour in the crevices which gave it an odd dry taste and texture. The leek dumplings are interesting, I believe the skin is made from oat flour, and it's okay. Really thick skin. The roasted fish was good but it was a bit too salty. I think in general, a lot of the things here are a bit too salty. Like the Broccoli that I ordered was too salty to really eat and the cumin lamb was a bit too salty and had too many fillers? The fillers made me a bit nauseated, I think it's just too much parsley or cilantro. The service here is pretty good I would say which I think is the only really good thing about this place. The pricing is pretty expensive, I think on average each dish was at least 20 dollars and some were around 30-40 and a lot it went to waste because it was just too salty. Overall, I'm not a fan of the new place, it makes me miss Meizhou Dongpo. Service is good but the food is too salty. The funny thing is, on my credit card, it's charged as Meizhou Dongpo. LOL.

Yelp
I was very excited when I heard XiBei was opening in Irvine! Upon entering the restaurant, I was shocked to see how large and spacious the dining room was. The decorations and open office design of the restaurant made the experience feel unique and grand for a restaurant that just opened recently. My partner and I was going to order to meal for two for $68 total, but instead we decided to choose our own dishes. We started with the cucumber salad, which was savory and crunchy, but a bit too salty for my liking. Next were the lamb skewers, which was high quality and well seasoned meat. We wish some of the seasoning mix was provided on the side as well. The Mongolian beef ribs were enormous and worth the price, though they were a bit dry in some parts. However, the cauliflower included in the dish tasted amazing and paired well with the rib. The braised pork belly was SO GOOD, but I ended getting intense bloating afterward (but still worth it). My favorite dish of the night was the Oat wowo. I've never tried this dish before, and I loved the texture of the noodles as well as their unique shape. The tomato based sauce was very flavorful. The portions of the restaurants are definitely shareable and you will most likely bring leftovers home. Pricing wise, the price is a bit on the higher end, but the quality and taste definitely accounts for that. The staff were polite and patient as well. I look forward to coming back one day to try all the other dishes on the menu!

Yelp
House special hawthorn and pear juice - thick and viscous not too sweet tart, kumquat flavor (9/10) Mongolian Rib: (8/10) star anise, traditional brased beef flavor, cumin skewer blend, pickled cauliflower was a great touch Peeking Duck: (10/10) Best peking duck i've had. Very similar to the authentic ones i've had in China. I heard it's the same chef as the dong po restaurant before. the sour cream is a game changer, super thin oat silk skin, 3/4 slices per wrap is perfect juicy, duck tender and rich in flavor in its thick fatty skin. I would have wanted more tortilla wraps but everything else was perfect. Oat wowo noodles (7/10): silky warm oat noodles rigatoni in honeycomb shape. The pasta texture was very unique and pleasantly surprised me. Poured over is a tangy tomato sauce with eggplant and bell pepper bits. I would prefer if the veggie bits were diced smaller or maybe blended into a puree to make the noodles hold the sauce better. Overall, it was a fresh and clean dish that didn't feel too greasy unlike an italian pasta This dish had a fairly large portion size Saliva chicken: (7/10) looks unamusing but has a floral aroma. has the smell of spicy thai peppers but not the spice level. has a good amount of numbing mala spice. A bit too oily and salty. Very unique dish though. Yogurt: (8/10) less viscous and more sour than traditional yogurt honey infused was a tad bit sweeter not very noticeable. osmanthus and rice one bad a unique texture xibei golden sticky rice: (9/10) mochi cranberry and raisins have a pop of sour tart, sweet chrisanmemum syrup two rice grains

Yelp
This review is for their AYCE as I've only had their buffet! On weekdays, it is $12 from noon-230pm and $16 for dinner 530-730pm for adults. I came on a weekday evening for their dinner buffet and for the price, I can't complain. They only have about ~10 dishes but they're all solid. I am not a particularly picky eater but I don't eat red meat and I was still able to eat majority of the food! Some buffet items include: tomato egg, stir fry(?) baby potatoes in satay sauce, cucumber salad, wood ear mushroom salad, egg fried rice, eggplant, kung pao chicken and string beans, and more. They keep the food on hot plates and it's refilled really often. It reminds me of Chinese comfort food like when you go to eat with your family with the spinning glass thing in the middle of the big table (I hope you know what I am referring to). Those who opt for the ayce sit in a particular section close to the buffet items, away from those who are dining ale cart. They clean up your empty plates really quick and service was good!

Yelp
I finally checked out Xibei in Arcadia, which I learned is actually part of a big restaurant group from China known for bringing Northwestern Chinese cuisine to the U.S. Think hearty lamb dishes, chewy oat noodles, and rustic comfort food made fancy. The restaurant itself feels sleek and modern -- kind of like your favorite noodle spot after it studied abroad and came back with confidence. The space is clean, stylish, and warm, and it's nice to see something so different from the usual Cantonese or Sichuan places around here. I ordered the Sichuan pepper chicken with chili sauce, the steamed oat dumplings, the Mongolian lamb, and the sautéed mushrooms with truffle oil. The chicken was a solid 3 out of 5 for me -- flavorful but surprisingly mild for something labeled "Sichuan." I was ready for that numbing peppercorn kick and it just never showed up. The oat dumplings were the biggest curveball; I was expecting something completely different, and the egg inside caught me off guard. Flavor-wise, it was pretty mellow, so that one was a 2 out of 5. Now, the Mongolian lamb -- that was the star. Tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced, with just the right amount of heat and richness. I know lamb isn't for everyone, but I'm firmly on Team Lamb, so I might be biased. The sautéed mushrooms with truffle oil were another standout -- earthy, fragrant, and rich, with the truffle coming through beautifully. Both of those dishes easily earned a 5 out of 5 from me. Service was friendly, though the pacing leaned more "we're taking our time" than "we know you're hungry," but honestly, the food and atmosphere made it easy to relax. Prices are on the higher side, but you can tell Xibei is aiming for a refined take on traditional dishes, and I respect that. Overall, it's a welcome addition to Arcadia -- not every dish was a hit, but the highlights made it worth the visit. I'd definitely come back for that lamb and mushroom combo alone.

Yelp
We wanted to try this newer place at the Santa Anita Mall! This is the Food Street section of the mall outdoors. The seem to have inner Mongolian specialties with many kinds of noodles (wheat, rice, and oat) and some lamb dishes. The decor kinda reminds me of an Italian family restaurant! Quite expansive. While filled with patrons we were seated quickly as food comes quick and people finish quick! We ordered by filling out an order form and handing off to the server. We got a variety of dishes featuring different noodle types. The food was quite delicious and "clean" tasting (as in not too oily not overly seasoned). We liked the signature noodle (flat wheat) and the signature WoWo noodles (honey combed oat). The fish soup had some glass noodles (likely mung bean). We couldn't finish it all so the server packed it all neatly to go.

Yelp
Nice ambience, great service and very good Xibei dishes. There are very few Xibei restaurants in the US. Xibei is a province south east of Beijing with a lot Xin Jiang influences, so lots of lamb dishes. First time having this and was very impressed. Something new to enjoy!

Yelp
Food: - oat flour noodle: 7.5/10, not super authentic but the texture is good - lamb shank: 9.5/10, very good, -0.5 for size of the dish, amazing pickles/bbq seasoning, meat falls off the bone - yogurt: 7/10, it's okay, traditional - chinese hamburger: 8.5/10, flavorful, juicy and flaky bun - golden millet sticky rice: 10/10, not too sweet, amazing texture, tastes like home Service: - friendly staff, quick service - English speaking staff available - pretty pricey (like Cheesecake Factory) Ambiance: - odd table cloth but the ones in China are also set up like this - spacious, tables are not too close

Yelp
My auntie wanted to try a new restaurant today so we came to Xibei. as you walk in, you see a beautiful decorated restaurant with a chill vibe. We quickly ordered some items: - Roast Duck (half portion) - Northern Style Pork Bun - XIBEI SIGNATURE Chilled Wheat Noodles With House Sauce - Kung Pao Chicken - Grilled Beef Skewers (3pc) - Grilled Lamb Skewers (3pc) - Mongolian Beef Rib-Bone Platter (2EA) - Oat "WoWo" (Honeycomb Shaped) Oat Noodles - Oat LuoLuo (Stir-Fried Oat Noodles W Beef) - XIBEI Style Shumai (Beef)(3pc) - Stir-Fried Pointed Cabbage W Chili Our favorite were the Roast Duck (with their thin crepe wrap), Northern Style Pork Bun, Oat LuoLuo (Stir-Fried Oat Noodles W Beef), Kung Pao Chicken (wished it was a little sweet and more spicy), Northern Style Pork Bun, and Stir-Fried Pointed Cabbage W Chili. We would have like the dishes more if the staff let us know which sauce went with which dish because it definitely changed the flavor profile of the dish (for example the Mongolian Beef Rib-Bone Platter and the XIBEI Style Shumai (Beef). The service was excellent and their yogurt and fruit teas were refresh. They are also currently giving away coupons for return visits so check them out if you're in the Santa Anita mall.

Yelp
Xibei is a new restaurant in the Santa Anita mall that took over Meizhou Dongpo. I had not heard of it before but there are apparently over 300 restaurants in China with the first shop originating in Inner Mongolia in 1988. Upon looking at the menu, I noticed it was definitely not your typical Chinese cuisine that you see in SGV restaurants. A lot of items had some element of oat in it - "oat wowo, oat noodles, oat dumplings"; so naturally we had to order something with oat! We ordered the oat wowo, oat dumplings, lamb shumai, Peking duck, lamb shank (free from instagram game!), and the chilled millet sticky rice. My favorite was the chilled millet sticky rice - it had the texture of zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) and it had a delightful subtly sweet/flowery honey-like sauce on it. Next favorite was the Peking duck - though it was a bit pricey for the half portion at $52. My husband really enjoyed the oat dishes especially the oat wowo - the texture of the noodles and dumpling wrapper made with oat had a nice chew and a subtle earthy flavor which made it unique! I would recommend this restaurant as there's nothing really like it (yet!) in the area and the quality of the food is good. I would come again to try out some other dishes! Service was great as well - servers were attentive and nice!

Yelp
We came here for the AYCE lunch special and honestly, it was totally not worth the price or the time. The food was pretty terrible with very limited selection and nothing really stood out. It felt more like filler dishes than a real taste of what Xibei is known for. If you're curious about this place, I'd skip the lunch buffet and come back in the evening instead. Their regular menu supposedly features authentic noodles and dumplings from Northwest China, which sounds way more promising. Hopefully dinner service shows what this restaurant can really do.

Yelp
I came here for the $12 lunch buffet. I dont recommend it, and in fact i would advocate for the restaurant to get rid of it completely because of the extra chaos it brings. Because of the amount of people who come for the buffet, you are expected to share large tables with other strangers. Our first table refused to let us sit, claiming that they were saving seats for their friends. We had to ask the waiters to redirect us to a separate table, while the waiters had to stop people from charging into the buffet without being directed to their assigned seating area first. The buffet is pretty small (2 side dishes, 2 types of rice, 6 entrees, and soup), so you have a crowd of people around the only buffet area. Originally only one side of the restaurant was assigned to be for buffet eaters only, but eventually it took up the entire restaurant. The servers are trying their best to manage the traffic, but it is clear that they are struggling to keep up refilling the food, clearing the tables, and stocking the cutlery/clean dishes and trays again. This is one of the rare occasions where i dont think hiring more people would help, because it would only crowd the dining area further. Based on the other reviews, it seems that the ala carte option is the better option to eat for a more relaxed dining experience.

Yelp
I wanted to try XiBei since it's a (currently scandalous) chain in China and serves food from my hometown region. Overall the food wasn't bad, but nothing here makes me miss it or want to come back despite the nostalgia, which doesn't seem great for a restaurant just starting out in LA. The red checkered tablecloths give a strange vibe to the restaurant. The space itself is big and clean. Service was mildly intrusive, fine overall in terms of bringing what we needed. I don't know if the server was happy because we ordered a lot or what but we struggled to have a conversation at times because she was there so much and talking to us. This would be a solid 3 if not for the duck. Duck meat was good, surprisingly tasty--my expectations were low since this is not a duck restaurant and there's no way they're cooking them fresh. The reason for the low rating is because the duck carcass they gave us to take home was rotten, and since the meat was fresh, it means the server and/or the kitchen decided to switch it out for an old one. We stuck it in the freezer as soon as we got home and when we took it out to make soup, realized it was spoiled. This restaurant won't make soup or stir fry the carcass for you (we asked), they'll only pack it tightly for you to take home, which says a lot. I haven't been to another restaurant with Peking duck that does this. The fish, forgot the name, wasn't very good. The cuts are big/rough and the fish was kind of dry. I don't know if it's the quality of the fish or just overcooked. It's like a $60 fish and unfortunately I don't think their chefs have the skill to make this to its full potential. Since this place isn't cheap and the food is mid, plus the issue with the duck carcass, I see zero reason to return.

Yelp
This review is for the lunch buffet. My mom loves the lunch buffet and took me along to experience it along with her. The food menu changes everyday so you never really know what will be out, which spices things for regulars I'm sure. The food was good! Nothing to blow you out of the water, but solid, good food. The staff was very nice in explaining the process and was nice enough to let us not sit at a communal round table, but our own square four too. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, most likely from the previous restaurant it used to be, but the fun colorful banners make it super festive inside.

Yelp
I came for the lunch buffet. The buffet reminds me of hotel breakfast or a friend's party. It's feel clean, the foods is fresh. The foods is nothing fancy, and definitely not high value item. It's decent enough if you're on a budget. The flavor is not heavy, feel light. Like mapo tofu, it's not very spicy/ not spicy. Self serve. One of the problem that I experience is that refilling the foods took a while. I left the establishment feeling full and confuse. I should be happy and be excited to plan my next visit. I think it's missing cold sugar drink. It should offer us at least ice green tea with my meal.

Yelp
This might be the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. And I'm including Panda Express in that statement -- yes, it was that bad. We walk in, and the hostess asks if we want the buffet. We say, "Sure, let's give it a try." Suddenly -- from like 30 feet away -- a guy who looked like the manager sprints over at Olympic speed and just starts yelling at me: "NO BUFFET! NO BUFFET! BUFFET TIME OVER!" Bro came running like I was about to steal the Holy Grail of Chow Mein. We get seated. Then... nothing. Ten minutes. No server. No water. Not even eye contact. We finally raise our hands like we're in elementary school, and the busboy (who was in the middle of wiping down tables) sighs, takes off his gloves, and just takes our menus away. No words. Just menu gone. The entire staff looked like they got hired five minutes ago. No one spoke English, the manager was panicking, and dishes were being slammed around in the background like someone was losing a rhythm game. Overall experience: Chaos. Confusion. Regret. 0/10. Would rather eat instant noodles in a parking lot.

Yelp
Our group of four visited Xibei for an early dinner since it just opened recently. We didn't know much about its popularity in China or what they're known for, so we were thankful their menu had pictures--that's when the hunger really kicked in. We ordered a mix of dishes to share: Oat Wowo, cucumber salad, zucchini & shrimp dumplings, lamb dumplings, steamed oat dumplings, grilled whole sea bass, stir-fried pointed cabbage, sautéed mushrooms, and black pepper Angus beef cubes. Clearly, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! We even scored a complimentary Mongolian cheese bing by playing their Instagram guessing game. The highlights for us were definitely the dumplings and all the veggie/mushroom dishes. The sea bass was fresh and flavorful but extremely bony, so be cautious if dining with kids. The Oat Wowo was beautiful to look at with a tasty sauce, though the pasta itself was hard and chewy--not quite my favorite. Since it replaced Dongpo, I'd say prices here feel even higher. They did gave us $20 vouchers to use within 30 days, so we'll see if I can squeeze in another visit before they expire.

The healthiest all gluten meal I ever had! Their honey comb tomato sauce signature dish is a mush order! Loved their service too! Xibei makes the best noodle dish in town their dumplings are very tasty and authentic and fresh. The must orders are the dumpling with tomato sauce soup!

Yelp
This place replaced Meizhou Dongpo at the Shops of Santa Anita. A bummer becase our family and friends loved Meizhou Dongpo. Anyway, we came here because our first option which was Din Tai Fung had a 3 hour wait. We came here and we were seated immediately. Food was solid and the favorites were the lamb based meats. Service was good too. Will probably be back to try other dishes.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurant chains in China but my last experience at the Arcadia location was underwhelming. Not only did one entree go missing, but two. We kept asking different servers to check up on the dishes as we were in a hurry. After a 30 min wait since our appetizers, we decided to just cancel the entrees since the kitchen sounded confused and did not even start making them yet. Was really upset that we wasted 30 min especially since we were in a hurry and left hungry. A good touch would have been giving your customer a coupon voucher to use next time or something instead of just a "sorry we are busy today." I want this restaurant to succeed but can see how other customers may never want to return again after an experience like this.

Yelp
Never tried Chinese northwestern cuisine and Xibei provided a great first time experience. The service was very fast, after we ordered for 5 mins we got our first appetizer. The servers are very friendly and always provided what we need in quick manner. First time trying Oat Wowo, which is a noodle-ish carb with tomato and sweet pepper sauce, it's very appetizing and the texture is chewy. Also the chilled golden millet sticky rice is tasty and refreshing, not very sweet. And we loved the Mongolian beef rib platter, tasted good! The overall dining experience is pretty pleasant, a lot of tables for different party sizes. Would recommend to bring friends and family here.

Yelp
Thank you to this restaurant for the thoughtful invitation. On my return visit, I tried different dishes and was pleasantly surprised. The grilled sea bass was fresh, and they even carefully removed all the bones; such a labor-intensive dish. The chicken and tofu soup had a rich chicken flavor, and the beef shumai had a thin wrapper with a generous filling. For drinks, we ordered the sour plum juice and pear juice, both of which were excellent. The service was truly on par with a five-star restaurant. Overall, this experience was outstanding. The food and the service were absolutely flawless.

Yelp
Xi Bei is a very popular and famous restaurant in China, and the food at this new Arcadia location is identical to their China menu. It is very authentic and delicious. Their signature dish is the "Wowo", as well as other fun and interesting noodle shapes like "Luoluo" and "Yuyu". The interior is very well decorated and staff are helpful.

Yelp
I used to go to Meizhou Dong Po, and when it closed I wasn't sure what could replace it. Xibei has taken its place, and it does so with a completely different style that feels both refined and rooted in tradition. This is not just another Chinese restaurant, it is fine dining with the flavors of Northwestern China. The menu reflects Mongolian traditions, Hui influences, and even touches of Slavic cooking. Lamb is prepared with depth and balance, and the oat-based wowo bread is rustic yet elegant in its presentation. The Peking duck was the first we have tried that was not too salty, letting the quality of the meat come through. The pork bun was more than a small bite, it was a full and satisfying dish on its own. The whole bass was delicate, fresh, and beautifully prepared, easily one of the highlights. Xibei offers a dining experience that feels like a cultural journey across Northern China and Central Asia, done with warmth and precision. Service is real pro.

Yelp
Xibei has finally arrived in the U.S.! Super excited to see Youmian Wowo on the menu (listed as Oat). Turns out it's made from naked oats from northern China--nutritious, low-GI, and such a wholesome staple. The tomato & eggplant topping with the chewy, slippery noodles = pure comfort food. The scallion grilled sea bass was a surprise--simply fire-grilled, tender, lightly salted, and so fresh. The spicy lamb spine was another hit: no gaminess, just tender, flavorful meat that fell right off the bone. Other standouts: crunchy jellyfish in aged vinegar, chewy yellow millet cake (loved by both kids & adults), and perfectly cooked string beans. Some dishes were less exciting (spicy chicken a bit sweet, truffle mushrooms confusing, dry pot cauliflower average), but nothing was bad. Overall, a great spot for family gatherings ‍‍‍.

Yelp
The food at XiBei Restaurant instantly took me back to my travels in China. Every dish bursts with authentic flavors of garlic, scallion, Sichuan peppercorns, ginger, etc. ... all perfectly balanced and boldly seasoned. You can truly taste the tradition and care in each bite. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff checked on us often and even treated us to a traditional rice dessert .... a thoughtful touch that made the meal even more memorable. The ambiance is spacious, clean, inviting and great for families, groups, or anyone who simply loves good food. We'll definitely be coming back (often!). If you're craving real Chinese flavors and top-notch service, XiBei is a must-try!

Yelp
Xibei A Bold Bite of Inner Mongolia in Arcadia Tucked inside the Westfield Santa Anita, Xibei brings a refreshing twist to the mall's dining scene. The lamb stew is rich and comforting, the oat noodle salad is a textural surprise, and the chilled sticky rice with millet? A sweet, earthy finish. The space is massive think banquet hall meets modern bistro and perfect for group feasts. It's not your average Chinese spot it's a deep dive into northwestern flavors that deserve more spotlight Lamb stew, oat noodle salad, housemade yogurt Spacious, celebratory, and full of culinary surprises

Yelp
I attended a birthday party last month and found the place impressive. The restaurant is located in Santa Anita Mall, with ample parking and easy access to the restaurant itself. The ambiance was definitely chinese, with lanterns hanging in the ceiling, red leather seats, round table, private function rooms are available for private parties. It can easily accommodate 15 people around the table. Food was delicious, authentic Asian cuisine, and it was affordable. The waiters were attentive and always checking in if we needed something inside the private room. Food were served one after the other which was great as we were a big hungry group.

Yelp
This place is on the second floor of Santa Anita mall, the outdoor area. Came here for Northwestern Chinese dishes. I've been trying to find a good place but no luck, so I thought I'd give it a try. It didn't disappoint! All the dishes we ordered were delicious! Servers were friendly and attentive. We came here off peak hour so it was quiet and I loved it. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Xibei is absolutely delicious!!! The big plate chicken was incredibly flavorful, the lamb skewers and lamb shanks, and the oatmeal noodles were incredibly tasty and chewy! All the noodles were delicious.

Yelp

Yelp
So happy to see Xibei finally open in Arcadia! The space is clean and modern, and the service feels genuinely friendly. Tried a few of their signature noodle dishes -- perfectly chewy noodles, rich broth, and balanced flavors without being too heavy. It's the kind of comfort food that hits the spot whether you're shopping or just craving something warm and authentic. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the overall vibe makes it a great new addition to the mall's food scene. Definitely coming back to try more!

Yelp
Food is good. Good veggie options but the portions are small so expect to pay a lot. $15 for 6 dumplings... but other dishes are maybe more worth it.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night for a birthday party. Book a private room with a minimum spend of $500. It's reasonable for a minimum spend for the room however, the issue is that the menu really doesn't have too many high ticket dishes. I thought the inside decor didn't match the restaurant itself. The red and white checkerboard linen gave a very American country feel. when you go for a more country feel it doesn't match the restaurant decor. The food itself was OK however, a bit too much focus on Lam Americans typically don't be as much Lamb. The waiter was nice and pointed out a lot of the bad dishes, not to order one of my great duck, which is $100 for a whole duck. However, it didn't feel like we were served the full duck as it was just slices of skin. Where did the duck go and we asked the waiter if there was a duck soup or a duck fried dish with the remaining part of the duck. Not sure I will come back, but I wish him the best.

Yelp
My family and I came two days in a row. We really enjoyed their food. The service yesterday was ok, but today we have an amazing waitress and another waiter came by multiple times refill water, changing plates etc, he was very attentive and we had a great experience today. The tomato soup was very good, simple but nice. I especially enjoyed the desert! We will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Xibei's finally open in the neighborhood! Must try are Mongolian Beef Rib bone and chilled golden millet sticky rice for dessert (the osmanthus sauce on the side is super refreshing!) Oat "wowo" is also a "wow"! Reminded me of Bologna pasta. Feel like it's hand made cuz very chewy! Service also awesome. We were starving after work out and dishes were served very quick. Def a come-back place for us!

Yelp
The foods are so good. My favorite one is chicken cold oat noodles. The taste is so good and very healthy. You must try the xibei signature chilled golden sticky rice. The service is so good. Everyone is so nice to customers. Nice environment.

Yelp
Just ate here for the first time, thoroughly enjoyed our meal and am quite surprised to see why the other reviews are so bad..? First of all, service was 11/10, extremely attentive, very friendly and prompt. Food was overall very excellent. Not sure what they're known for but each item we ordered was great. I think most/all their dumplings and noodles are made with oat in the dough, and it definitely gives it an interesting taste and chew. We ordered 4 different shumai & dumplings, all made with the oat flour. I think I prefer the dumplings but shumai excellent also. My parents had the duck, which they really enjoyed. I don't eat duck but they said it's not too far from the best duck place in LA, which is a pretty crazy statement. All the veggies were delicious, but the salad was kind of silly though (it's just like any other mixed greens) and too much dressing for our taste, but we tend to eat more bland. I wouldn't get the mixed greens salad again but the cucumber salad was great. Also, portions are actually quite generous. Compared to DTF, XiBei's portions are huge. They also provide kids utensils & silicone plates with their own logo on it, very cute & thoughtful. Unfortunately he kept dropping them onto the floor but the staff were so kind and picked it up several times and brought new ones.. it's their grand opening weekend so we got some vouchers for next time. With or without the vouchers we will definitely come back!

Yelp
The manager here is extremely rude and treats people with no respect. This place feels like a typical Chinese buffet trying to act like a high-end restaurant, but it completely misses the mark. The atmosphere is uncomfortable, and it's clear they don't value their customers. I honestly don't see this restaurant lasting the next few months.

Yelp
I was so excited to see Xibei finally open in Los Angeles! If you've ever been to northern China, you'll know this is a taste of home. The menu is unique compared to most Chinese restaurants here -- lots of hearty, flavorful dishes that aren't your typical takeout. The "Youmian Wowo" (oat noodles served with a rich sauce) is a must-try. It's fun to eat, a little interactive, and the sauce has that perfect balance of savory and tangy flavors. I also loved their lamb skewers -- juicy, smoky, and full of spices that reminded me of street food back in China.

Reiann S.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious! This is a new restaurant at the Santa Anita mall, and I'm already obsessed. They have a deal from 12pm-2:30pm for buffet-style dining only on weekdays. Adults are $12 and kids are $6. The staff here are very friendly, as well. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area
