Xifu Food

I had the stewed beef noodle soup last night and it was really tasty. For $10.95, that really is not bad. The beef was really soft and tender and the broth was flavorful. The inside dining was just a few basic tables and not a big restaurant so it's mainly for takeouts or when there's not that many people.

The food here is very good. The beef noodles has good broth and tender beef. I also order a fried chicken that is tender inside. The pen fry dumplings are descent. I highly recommend this restaurant for good Chinese food.

Good bowl of beef noodle soup that would fill you up with reasonable price point. Noodle has good chewiness with tender meat with refreshing bok choi. Pan frided dumpling was a nice addition to the meal. And the waiting time is pretty short. Only catch would be small dining space which won't fit someone expect some sort of banquet. But hey, it's worth the visit!

Their Rougamo is good and authentic. The bun is layered and crispy, better than Xi’an Famous Food. The meat is a mixer of lean and a little fatty meat. Delicious!

I am so glad I live near by this little place that brings a taste of home to me. I am from Xi'an, China and I am pretty certain that their Rougamo is most authentic in New York City. Their Rougamo, made in the Old Tong Guan style, features crispy multi-layered bread and juicy hand-pulled pork, mirroring the flavors I cherished back in Xi'an. (I personally prefer to having some fat in Rougamo) Every time I miss my parents, this Rougamo soothes my nostalgia. If you're ever in search of comforting flavors, I'd be happy to recommend bits of Xi'an to you

This is the definition of comfort food for me. If you want saucy noodles with a bunch of toppings and flavor, get the diao diao noodle. I almost always order this.

Food (4 stars): I really enjoyed their beef noodle soup! The broth is not too salty or spicy. The meat is perfectly tender. Good amount of bok choy. Pretty solid for the price of $11 The restaurant is really small and casual. I would definitely come back for a quick bite.

I was on my way out of Brooklyn and was meeting a friend for a quick takeout dinner so we picked up from Xifu/Bites of Xi'an. We got the diao diao noodles which were noodles in sauce with egg and pork! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the tomato-based sauce was perfectly sweet and tangy. The pork and egg were also cooked great. The bowl was super filling and I had plenty of leftovers!! Overall, great spot for takeout!

Note: Reading is for the local area. Would probably give them 4 if this was outside of Downtown Brooklyn. I went to this place several months ago and as per the name of the restaurant, they serve food from Xi'an which is in northern China. Outside of this location, there's also a few others around the city. The place was very crowded and I was lucky to get a seat with a ton of people getting takeout with a lot of people getting dumplings or noodle soups. As it was a bit of a walk and because I was planning on having leftovers regardless, I decided to order two different noodles (Diao Diao Noodles and Liang Pi) along with one of their pork rougamo. To drink, I had a JDB Herbal Tea which is an alternative branding of Wong Lo Kat (there's a whole debate with this.) It's a herbal tea and for those who haven't had it, it is quite sweet with the closest flavor being rock sugar and osmanthus. The Diao Diao Noodles/西府调调面 is essentially a mix of three different home-style Chinese noodles dishes and would be a very good choice if you haven't been here before as it's a good way of sampling a variety of the dishes here. There was chewable noodle topped with stewed beef (or a dry version of their popular stewed beef noodles,) stir-fried tomato and egg/番茄炒鸡蛋, and meat sauce noodles/zhajiangmian/炸酱面 along with baby bok choy and scallion. The stew beef noodles were tasty with soft tender meat with some of it having a bit of a chew which is my preference and I can see why their soup version of this seems very popular. The tomato and egg was a comforting tasty dish and was the simplest in terms of flavoring which actually worked well as the other two were on the saltier side. The zhajiangmian was slightly salty but not too much so and it had a good rich flavor as with the beef noodles though in this case from the thick black porky stew. The bok choy worked as a veggie side and the noodles had a pleasant chew as well. Overall very tasty and very much worth it for the price. I ordered the Liang Pi/Cold Skin Noodles/凉皮 as well having most of it the day afterwards. As expected, it had good spice as well as a lot of vinegar and it tasted healthier compared to the other dish. It was a pretty solid version though I would have preferred more pieces of gluten which would have soaked up the tasty sauce. As they're designed to go together, I also got a Rougamo (or Roujiamo)/肉夹馍 with pork which is essentially a circular flatbread. The pork inside was very tender with some good fat which was good but it lacked the crispy texture on the outside. Overall the liang pi were good and the rougamo was pretty solid especially for the price. There aren't that many good Northern Chinese spots outside of Flushing and I found the food here just better than at Xian Famous Foods and cheaper. Just a really good deal and I can see why they're popular. Will go back to try the dumplings as they seemed very popular and more.

The dumplings were excellent - the noodles left a lot to be desired. I tried this place out as it was just down the street from my hotel. It was only about a ten minute wait to get my food. Pork dumplings were worth the rave (definitely grab some sauce if you're taking to go). I had ordered spicy pork noodles but there must have been a mix up on mine because I got the tomato and egg instead. For my husband I ordered the noodles with braised pork belly. Neither had the flavor we would have hoped for and were loaded up with udon noodles. Fine for a grab and go but I wouldn't see it out again

Underrated quick eat location that's both great dining in and delivery. I've gotten the Beef Noodle Soup numerous times and most recently tried the Crispy Pork Rougamo, which seriously blew my mind. You want a flakey savoury asian pastry pie? This is it. I also had the Diao Diao noodles, which contained everything I was craving at the time (tomato/eggs, meat) There's limited seating (3 groups) so definitely more of a casual eatery. Everything is well priced and flavourful, and a good place if you want some solid chinese food!!

Zero ambience. Dark, not super clean or anything. I'm not sure this perfectly serviceable restaurant deserves 4+ stars. There was nothing wrong with the food (served in all single use plastic) but it's not spectacular. As others have mentioned the dumplings are better than the noodles and they are...fine. Unless there's a compelling reason, I would recommend going all the way to Xi'an Famous...don't settle if you've got the time.

Feeling a little meh and since noodles solve all of life's problems, stopped by one evening. The sign over the restaurant said "Xifu" but there are signs in the window that say "Bites of Xi'an" so don't be worried- you're at the right spot! They have paper menus at the front, but also have a QR code menu on the wall too, which I thought was helpful. If you're going to eat there, I suggest grabbing a table because there's not that much seating and it fills up fast. Food is made to order so you may wait a little, but it was well worth the wait! We got the stewed beef noodle soup, diao diao noodles, and pork pan fried dumplings- husband says the soup was a bit one note, but the beef was tender. My diao diao noodles (topped stewed beef, tomato/egg, and meat sauce) was insanely flavorful and hearty. While the noodles are good, I wish they had more of a "chew"- if they could've only pulled them from the boiling water a minute earlier! The dumplings were also fantastic- they were stuffed with meat and the skin (maybe made with the same dough as the noodles) were perfect. This is the kind of noodle place every neighborhood needs! Service was great as well.

After a long day of working i was craving dumplings. It's been quite some time since I've found any good dumplings within this area. I stumbled upon Bites of Xi'an and decided to look them up. The reviews looked promising so I decided to drive over. Upon arrival I was shocked by how I saw the employees handling the food! Bare in mind this restaurant is located near an active construction site and a busy street. Therefore, debris, car & truck fumes, dust, spit, and bugs are all over. Although in thin plastic bags, The food was placed on the floor. Raw meat was on the floor for about 20 minutes in 90 degree weather while they sorted frozen dumplings and vegetables by hand without gloves outside. I'll pass on eating here. I'm extremely disappointed.

Wow get B1 - crispy pork rougamo. VERY porky and flaky. And they don't skimp on the meat! Wow I was very surprised as I don't even usually like this. Best one ever. Diao diao noodle was also pretty good, very home-y in flavor, noodles akin to udon. Wish there was more meat. And also wish it was spicy!

The food is awesome, although the menu is limited. Cramped space, and slightly dirty- but if it was clean and open, how could you believe this was authentic?

I came here for the Qishan meat sauce noodle soup just because I hadn't tried it before. It was different than I expected, with more Western flavors than I expected from a Chinese-style noodle soup. It was still quite delicious and definitely full of flavor. I love that this small family-owned restaurant is right in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. There's a bit of seating, but most folks were doing takeout. I would definitely like to come back again and try their other noodle dishes!

Super solid dumpling spot in Boerum Hill, I was super excited to uncover this amidst the construction going on! We stopped by to fulfill my dumpling craving (every time I'm in NYC, getting good dumplings is a must). We ordered boiled dumplings and steamed dumplings to share plus the crispy pork rougamo. Not tons of vegetarian options but there are a few things here. This is a smaller spot, luckily, we grabbed one of the 3 tables open and waited for our dumplings to arrive. The portions are generous for the price and the dumplings were truly excellent. They came out fresh and piping hot, and it was difficult to wait for them to cool down because they looked so good! We really enjoyed the pork rougamo, so savory and porky delicious. The pastry was deliciously flaky and the size of the rougamo was generous too. In total, the meal came out to $20 for our small mountain of food. Enough left over in the budget to walk over to Gong Cha down the street for some bubble tea for dessert! Knowing my insatiable dumpling habit I will definitely be back to Bites of Xi'an. So, so good! Note that their sign above the shop says Xi Fu so keep your eyes peeled and don't walk past it!

Ordered the Qishan meat soup noodle before. The soup base is on the sour side which is what I like. Noodles are on the soft side too. I think it may because I took it home to eat it, and the noodles sit in the bowl for too long. I ordered via phone call and got my food pretty quick when I arrived. Small space but clean. Spent around $15. Worth to try if you live nearby. It's pretty authentic.

Kind of a hidden gem that is tucked behind all the construction happening in Downtown Brooklyn. Ended up here for a quick and casual meal after working at a local coffee shop (shouts @ Devocion 5/5). Pretty small place with like 10-15 seats inside and no outdoor seating. The staff was very nice but... wasn't really able to help me order and didn't understand what I was asking for so I had to point on the menu - fortunately things came out as expected! Food: So so so good. Cheap, fast and delicious meal. -Boiled dumpling hot/sour soup - 5/5. My go-to when I can find this on a menu and it was phenomenal. -Soupy beef noodles - 45/5. Also very good, but was a bit colder than expected so felt like it wasn't as fresh. Long story short; Great hidden spot with fast service, affordable and unique/flavorful comfort food.

Bites of Xian is hands down my favorite Chinese spot in the Downtown Brooklyn area. The quality and prices are nearly what you'd find in Chinatown. We ordered the stewed beef noodle soup ($8.95), the XF diao diao noodles ($8.95), and a XF crispy braised pork belly rougamo ($4.95). We absolutely loved the noodles, which were appropriately "Q" as we like to say in Taiwan to describe a chewy al dente texture. All three dishes' flavors were wonderful, especially in the diao diao noodles. I would definitely order the latter noodles again. The rougamo was also crispy and definitely filling as a snack or side. My only complaint is that some of the beef in the noodle soup and the pork belly in the rougamo were a bit fatty, although that was probably to be expected especially in the rougamo. This is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.

This place is around the corner from the hotel where we stayed a few weeks ago. I was craving noodles and found this place on Yelp. It is a hole-in-the-wall kind of spot with a few tables and chairs but food is fresh and very good. Ordered: Dian Dian Noodles Pork Belly Crispy Burger (Although I didn't order any, the dumplings seem to be a very popular item. I saw several people order these while waiting.) I would definitely go back to try more menu items if I were in the area again.

I can't believe this place isn't popular yet! Ive been coming here for years - often racing to get here before they close so I can have a proper dinner. Inexpensive AND good Chinese food! My complain with Brooklyn is that it does not have an authentic chinese restaurant. When I chanced upon Xifu food, I knew I found my authentic Chinese restaurant. They have a growing menu, they added chicken rice (I used to order beef or pork in the absence of chicken) and they have a few noodle options to choose from. They are also now accepting credit cards (they only used to accept cash) and accept online orders! They even have a website! I'm so impressed and happy that they are surviving these tough times. I am very happy to be supporting this business.

Super underrated Chinese comfort food spot tucked under all the construction in Downtown Brooklyn. I absolutely love this place! My go-to is the beef stew noodle soup - super tender beef, soft noods and flavorful broth. I also love their boiled and pan fried dumplings. Always super fresh and hot. Prices are also affordable. If this place was closer to my apt, I would go everyday. That said, I don't mind the 30 min walk for bomb dumplings and noods!

I tried the "#1 beef noodle soup in the U.S." at Xifu Foods. It was pretty good! This place is pretty cheap at around $8 per bowl of noodles. They've got lots of traditional Chinese options like egg and tomato, jajiangmian, and liang pi mian, a cold Chinese noodle dish made for the summer. I love liang pi mian and was trying to find a good bowl in New York, but I'd probably pass on ordering it here. I'd definitely recommend the beef noodle soup - it's one of the best I've tried, and the egg and tomato was good as well, although I wouldn't order it again. We ordered delivery from this place. The food was pretty bad. We had to throw out the entire order after trying everything.

Not sure what happened but when we got takeout for dinner today (11/9), parts of the dumplings were over cooked and soggy and the other part was cold (prob bc the dumplings were stuck together and didn't get enough time to thaw). Fried chicken was also soggy and dry.

Don't believe the hype. Got the beef stew. $12. 4 small pieces of beef, 2 pieces of Bok Choi. Lots of noodles. Ok broth. Won't be back.

Excellent authentic Chinese food convenient to downtown Brooklyn. Great value and outstanding taste and quality.

I almost walked right past this place because the outside says "xifu." The beef in the beef noodle soup was super tender and melt in your mouth. The broth smelled so refreshing and it had a lot of beef flavor. It was very clear and light. The noodles were firm. The chicken dumplings are really affordable, I just wish there was something other than chicken in them like some vegetables. The staff is super nice as well. This place was bussing when I went so I would definitely come back and try some of their rice dishes. They only have about 3 tables inside.

All their menus are quick, cheap, and delicious. I feel that I will visit here often.

I really wanted to like Bites of Xi'an as I'm always on the hunt for a new noodle spot. However, the Diao Diao noodle dish that I ordered ended up being a total disappointment. Not only did I have to wait an unreasonably long time for it, but the dish itself was lackluster. Diao Diao noodle is a combination of fresh tomato, egg, ground pork, and black bean sauce, but the flavors just didn't come together in a satisfying way. While the noodles did taste fresh, the overall flavor of the dish left me feeling underwhelmed. It's a shame, as there were other interesting noodle dishes on the menu that I would have liked to try, but after this experience, I'm not sure I'll be back to give them a chance.

Solid hole in the wall with indoor table and counter seating and affordable prices. Bites of Xi'an serves up an impressive selection of dry and soup noodles, spicy and non-spicy options; roujiamo and dumplings!

Dirt cheap dumplings and noodles off the beaten path of downtown Brooklyn. We were due to see a comedy show at Eastville and decided to come by Xifu for a bite. We ordered 2 orders of dumplings (chicken and pork that came 6 pieces per order) and a beef noodle soup. The total of everything came out to $13! Steal of a deal. The dumplings were meaty and well flavored. Leave it up to a true chinese hole in the wall joint to provide watered down sirarcha, soy sauce and vinegar at the table. Classic. I also asked the man behind the counter if they allowed us to bring alcohol and he said it was fine so we dropped by the wine shop down the block to pick up a bottle of wine! I mean, Xifu doesn't have quite the type of atmosphere where people are enjoying wine, but I definitely appreciate the option to. I'd like to believe that the sauvignon blanc brought out the flavors of the dumpling meat.

Stop confusing people with your name changes (and by "people" I mean us, and by "us" I mean me). Back in my day we had Xifu Food. Hmmm... now that I think about it, kudos on the name change. Anyways, very good, fast foodish, type of food can by found here. We had beef noodle soup, two different types of dumplings, cold sesame noodle, and spicy cumin beef rougamo (hamburger), all quite tasty... And better yet, all quite cheap. It was all just a smidge over $20. Great deal for good food these days.

Delicious food. Every time. I've been ordering here for years. Even when there were only two locations and we had to travel from Harlem to Brooklyn just to get it. The service isn't always the warmest, but the food is.

Very good restaurant! My friend suggested this to me and now I come on every weekend. It's better than the other Xi an restaurant around the same area. At least I don't get thirsty after drinking the beef noodle soup!

This is a hole in the wall and there's zero ambiance but who cares. My wife and I ordered the liang pi and the rougamo (pork bun). The liang pi was good but make sure you get extra vinegar and ask for the hot chili oil. I have no clue why those aren't added to the base dish bc it is way better with some extra vinegar and chili oil. The rougamo was really really good. The pastry was flakey and just the right amount of crispy and the pork was fatty and tender. Overall, I would recommend Bites of Xian but the base order of the liang pi could be improved.

I ordered: pan fried veggie dumplings: these were deliciously crispy and the fillings were flavorful. Liang Pi in garlic sauce: these cold noodles were interesting. I did not like it at all initially and then the taste grew on me lmao. You can't beat the price here - all of that costed $10 and the pickup order was so quick!

Bites of Xi'an is the perfect lunch or dinner option for those looking for a quality meal on a budget. We tried two of the noodle dishes and the pork dumplings. Noodle dishes were decent, probably a 4 out of 5 on that alone. However, the dumplings were awesome. If I lived closer, I would get these all the time. $6 for 10 very large and delicious dumplings. Definitely make sure to order these! On my next visit, I want to try the dumplings in hot and sour soup.

Yes, yes, yes! My bf and I ordered the pork and cabbage dumplings in the hot chili oil...SO good and the price is on point! We were devouring the dumplings and couldn't get enough. I cannot wait to go back and try other things on the menu. Highly recommend for a quick dumpling fix

Yummy. My new favorite place in downtown brooklyn. I think they are changing their name to Bites of Xi-an. I tried these and I highly recommend any of them!! Everything tasted freshly made and good portions - good for the value. -braised pork over rice - great! -hand made dumpling in hot and sour soup - oh soooo good, taste the freshness and love the hand rolled skins -fried dumpling - yummy, love the thick skin on these dumplings -beef noodle - a little bit salty on the soup and more broth would be nice, overall the beef is cooked and seasoned well -spicy oil chicken - Taste so good over night cold. Fresh and love the chilly oil! I will be back!!

Yummy cheap affordable food. 6 dumplings of your choice (chicken, pork, veggies) for $2. Who can beat that ? Nowhere else besides downtown Flushing nowadays. They have everything from pork bowls, beef bowls, burgers and noodle soup dishes to what they're famously known for ... Dumplings. Its is ALWAYS packed in here. So be prepared to wait . And I mean wait ! I used to spend my entire lunch break (30mins) waiting for my food. And even now when I call in advance for pick up they still manage to have me wait for 15-20 mins. So I literally do have to gulf down my food. Too bad they don't deliver . A lot of my colleagues love this place. ***A tip to management - please consider doing delivery. Theres lots of office buildings in this area. **hint hint**

SUPER affordable dumplings, very similar to Vanessa's (minus the sesame bread)! No frills, few seats. $2 for 6 dumplings (pork or chicken) and a little extra for the veggie. The dumplings are pan fried, and skin is thiccc. Be careful when biting into it because they're super hot ! They also have an assortment of noodles (dry or with soup), rice dishes, and Chinese bun/burgers similar to Xian famous foods. Their 'spicy' is the MALA type, so if you get the cold sesame noodles spicy, be prepared for tongue numbing. I'd rather get that dish non-spicy to preserve its refreshing quality. Come here for cheap eats, but they're not the best dumplings you'll ever eat. I prefer mine steamed or boiled. But I definitely want to try their beef noodle soup.

This is one of my favorite spots in the city. It's incredibly cheap, family run, and tasty. You would never know about this place if you were strolling through because it's quite inconspicuous where it sits. But if you go around lunch time, it'll be filled with a cross section of local workers. The price of the dumplings is so absurdly low I would order like 24 and eat them all in one sitting. It's weird when I write it, but you won't realize until you're around dumpling 20, and by then you might as well finish.

One of the best places in downtown Brooklyn! The beef noodle soup always hits the spot. There's no other restaurant in the area that serves noodle soup like this. I get this at least once a week. Can't wait for the day they open back up again. My diet has been lacking beef noodle soups
