The Cocktail Heatmap: The Best Places to Drink in Denver This Summer | Eater Denver

"At this splashy Mexican sensation in Uptown, the bar’s commitment to showcasing Mexican ingredients goes far beyond agave spirits: Corn whiskey, rum, and even gin come from south of the border, while the likes of prickly pear, chamoy, poblano chiles, and cilantro bring their kicked up flavors to the mix." - Eater Staff

Denver’s Best Tacos | Eater Denver

"You get what you pay for. Yes, this upscale hot spot’s tacos are expensive by the standards of the genre ($13 apiece), but they’re also more like mini-entrees on house-nixtamalized, handmade edible plates than anything, graced with such gourmet stuff as duck carnitas in mole with sweet potato crema, kanpachi al pastor with charred pineapple and onion-ash crema, and duck fat–cured ribeye with fried potatoes and salsa verde. Besides, those prices are slashed in half at happy hour, when the toppings are more traditional (barbacoa de lengua, chicken tinga) but no less lovingly prepared." - Ruth Tobias

The Best Mexican Food in Denver | Eater Denver

"From chefs Erasmo Casiano of Lucina and Rene Gonzalez Mendez comes this suave date-night candidate in Uptown, where the deep thought and care that go into the seasonal menu — starting with an in-house nixtamalization program — are on display in dish after gorgeously presented dish. Masa-based items like tongue barbacoa-topped sopes, beef piccadillo-stuffed molotes, and tacos featuring duck carnitas or kanpachi al pastor on handmade tortillas are the natural stars of the show, supported by an intriguing cast of cocktails like the gin-based Martini Sucia with cilantro-infused vermouth and green onion shrub." - Ruth Tobias

The Hottest Restaurants in Denver Right Now, Fall 2024

"From the team behind Park Hill’s much-loved Lucina Eatery and Bar comes this Uptown homage to the foodways of Mexico City, which has only been open for a couple of months but has already received recognition from Bon Appétit for its soulful, sophisticated approach to dishes like broiled oysters with charred jalapeño butter and maiz powder; sopes topped with barbacoa de lengua, salsa verde, and crema; and black ash–braised lamb shank with black beans and radish-herb salad. The bar follows suit with the likes of tomatillo margaritas and Old Fashioneds featuring Mexican corn whiskey." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

This was by far the best meal I had in Denver. Plates are meant to be shared but my partner got delayed so I went alone. Two dishes was plenty of food plus a dessert. This place came recommended to me by a foodie. I had the duck taco and ceviche. Both were delicious. I tried 3 different cocktails I wasn’t the biggest fan of but the food was delicious. The staff were kind, attentive and good looking. :) I would highly recommend this place. Definitely need a reservation on the weekend.

Our experience at Xiquita was amazing. 10/10. Our server Dylan was knowledgeable and offered great suggestions for what to order. Nothing disappointed! We typically wouldn’t order carrots but that plate was so flavorful, one of our favorites. We went during their happy hour and tried three tacos from that menu, which were SO good. Dessert was amazing, it had a caramel sauce on the bottom with a corn based cake and white chocolate ice cream on top with some lavender. Delightful. We had such a good time and enjoyed every. single. thing. The hospitality was wonderful, quite Richie-coded (iykyk, chef).

Very happy with our choice to come try this new spot out. We had a reservation for 4:30 and were able to get a table right away. This restaurant has a good vibe and the staff was friendly. Since we were there in time for their happy hour menu, we started with some of their Mexican street foods. The taco al pastor and taco de carnitas were great 8.5/10. The best one we had was the taco de hongo y rajas, which had poblanos and a good cream sauce 9/10. For an appetizer we started with the pipian verde, which were carrots with a really well flavored sauce 10/10. The next dish we got were the sikil pak, which were grilled beats and tomato with goat cheese 7.8/10. For our entrees we got the cochinita pibil - pork with a really good sauce 9.1/10 and the carne asada cooked perfectly 9.5/10. We look forward to coming back again soon! This is one I highly recommend to put on your must try list!

Came in for Dinner and it was really great. The cocktails were wonderful I had a coconut fat washed tequila beverage and it was super tasty. We did the bone marrow and it was next level good but I will say the corn on the plate that was holding the bones was kind of annoying and not edible food fell in it and it was hard to get out. I’m not a fan of something on the plate I cannot eat or doesn’t add to the dish but honestly that’s splitting hairs because the dish itself was really yummy. The carrots were so good and we finished with a couple of tacos. We will be back. Service was also pretty good!

First of all, my reservation for a dinner with work colleagues had to be pushed back and reduced number of people and the staff at Xiquita were super accommodating it was really appreciated! On top of that the food was awesome! Tried the carrot with mole appetizer, the ceviche and the Mercado and Pato tacos and everything was super flavorful and perfectly prepared. Their salsas have heat and flavour and everything down to the complimentary fresh tortillas and habanero butter made me really miss Mexico The mezcalita was also 🤌🏼 It’s definitely on the pricey side I will say but worth it in my opinion

Such a beautiful, delicious, intentional space. Went for my birthday and had an amazing dinner - pro tip get the tamal with duck carnitas on top! The tortillas and masa was the BEST and so flavorful. I could truly feel and taste the ancestral Mexican culture in this culinary experience!

I recently dined at the renowned Eleven Madison Park, a Michelin three-star restaurant, and I was impressed to find that some of tonight's dishes were equally exquisite. The flavors were bold, exciting, and truly memorable. I'm already looking forward to bringing my family here soon! *Reposted as Google did not post the first time around.*
