My wife and I stopped today for a late lunch, and all I can say is wow!! Everything feom the atmosphere, service to the overall food was absolutely amazing. If you haven't ate there.... your missing out

Google
In town visiting.. this place was highly recommended by nurses at the hospital.. this place did not disappoint!! Food is absolutely amazing! Will definitely be stopping in again on my next trip through!!

Google
The Fiesta Fajitas pictured were very well prepared. Most places do not cook the vegetables enough, but this place did a great job. The flavors of the various meats all blended well together, and the chorizo was not overpowering, as it sometimes can be. The tamale had too much masa, and not enough pork, but most restaurants do this. The queso was pretty average, and the salsa was above average. Our server was good and kept our drinks filled. I would definitely return to this restaurant if I'm ever in the area again.

Google
Food not that good. They didn’t even had a spicy sauces at all, i asked the guy waitress who was take care our tables , and he gave me a weird look. The server was pretty rude . He didn’t even refill my mom water. I won’t ever come back to this place 😫

Massimo

Google
The restaurant offers big portions and has a nice vibe, but the food quality is just okay. Worth a visit for the ambiance and quantity, but don’t expect anything amazing taste-wise.

Crystal Dworsack

Google
Amazing service and atmosphere. I would recommend that they switch the tomato side for a Pico DE Gao. ♡ But that's just a personal preference. We loved how fast our service was and the amount of food that was given to us for the price. Our waiter was very fast and respectful during our lunch meal. Highly Recommend. 😀😃

Google
Place was pretty packed and busy, and the service was pretty good as well. Only issue is as soon as we ordered our food came out in minutes, and tasted like preheated food. Some of it was extremely greasy, bland, and lukewarm.

Michael Ippolito

Google
Super expensive for what it is, like 17.99 for almost every meal. The portions of meat are RAZOR thin. The menu is limited, and each entree is super generic. Won't be going back here anytime soon many other places to try.

Yelp
Great food . Good service . Fast service. Always clean . Good prices . Convenient locations.

Yelp
We are Mexican food fans so we have been here a few times . We like their fajitas and their Tuesday night 12.99 fajita special make it a go to for us. Their service is always quick and good, even during a busy night. I also like their chips and salsa starter. It's a good place to go for a quality reasonably priced meal.

Yelp
My family really enjoyed this place! We found our strawberry daiquiris and lime margarita to be fairly average, but good. We had the chicken chimichangas and pineapple chicken and found them to be delicious. The salsa was great and chips were fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks came out quickly. The restaurant was decorated nicely and clean. Overall, great service and great food!

Yelp
Very good Mexican food here. The place was pretty bustling on a Friday night. We were seated right away. Our server was Oscar (aka "Whiskey" we found out later) who seemed to be in a huge hurry for us to order. We appreciate the efficiency of us being seated and given menus so quickly but after our drink orders he was there in like 10 seconds ready to take our food order even though we had just received the menu. We asked for more time and he came back again no joke in 60 seconds. Asked for more time and again was back in like 30 seconds. Sigh. As soon as our food came out he disappeared. Didn't check to see how our food was until we flagged him down for another round of drinks. He was friendly just seemed in a hurry. Other than that our experience was great. The place has a very authentic feel. The cheese dip is melty gooey goodness. I got shrimp timpico which was very good. Lots of shrimp in a spicy sauce. My friend got ground beef and queso as a meal. My brother got a quesadilla Del Mar. Everything came out very fast and hot. We loved this place and would come back for sure.

Yelp
While working in Springfield a coworker recommended this place. He will only eat Mexican food here. The place was lively. It was a little loud. But the atmosphere was nice. The service wasn't great but pretty good. The salsa was just mediocre. The hot salsa was much better. The food was average. I had the pineapple chicken. The portion size was huge. The chicken lacked seasoning. I was working, therefore I didn't get a drink.

Yelp
I came here because I haven't been here in so long since I moved away. It took us about 15 minutes to get any drink orders put in. I ordered the veggie fajitas, but there was a lot of onion hardly any veggies. The kids meals were interesting. The chicken popcorn looks like shredded pieces of chicken. They were leftovers that we're just dropped in the air fryer. I had to stand up outside of our booth for about 10 minutes looking for our server to get our bill. Not the best experience

Yelp
Food is wonderful! I got Carnitas, service was great! Lively atmosphere for the family

Yelp
We always like to try different restaurants when traveling. This was the only restaurant in close proximity to our hotel that wasn't part of a chain. It had mixed reviews, but front desk clerk highly recommended so we decided to give it a try. Fun atmosphere, lighting fast service. Food was tasty and authentic; generous portions as well as generous pours on the drinks. I would go again if in the area. Server, Hugo was great.

David G.

Yelp
Foods great but service was horrible. Waiter walked away before I was done ordering. I received the wrong order. Tried to let the owner know left my number no call back. I'm going elsewhere now.

GERLINDE C.

Yelp
Food was delivered extremely fast. Inside of steak and cheese burritos cold. No refill on drink and no check back after food was delivered.

Yelp
This spot is a good spot for lunch. The customer service the two times I've been was exceptional. The cashiers, bartender and I believe the owner is always nice when I come in. The margaritas are HUGe and so good. I will definitely be back. I'd have to say this is the best Mexican food I've had here in Springfield... they seem to do much better than quite a few other places I've visited locally as far as taste and quality of the food. This place is friendly for families I saw a variation of customers in seating and the prices are reasonable for the portion of food served.

Yelp
Great service! They took the time to go through the menu and give suggestions on the popular items and ways to add extras to improve the dish! I told l like enjoyed beans to with my chips and they brought out a plate beans with queso cheese on top. Highly recommended!!!

Maria J.

Yelp
Service was excellent. I'm a creature of habit so I had to have my shrimp quesadilla . Was really good. Large portions. Don't forget your doggie bag!
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is well-liked in Springfield. For several years it has won Best Mexican Restaurant in the Illinois Times, "Best of Springfield Readers Poll." The awards fill up the walls. I've gotten the fajitas, carne asada and a burrito on 3 separate occasions and was pleased with all three meals. As a bonus, there is ample seating, so it's a good choice if you're going out with a larger group.

Yelp
I remember this being so so we got take out for 4 on 08 13 23 my memoryi am sorry to say has not failed me when tamalies from.a convience store on a warming tray are miles ahead of your offering you have a long way to go. My wife also had a msg food reaction on the dish she got.

Yelp
A few weeks ago my fiancé and I came here on a Saturday evening with a family we are friends with and had a great time. Our server was great, even during Covid precautions the atmosphere was humming and the two kids with us loved being here. On the food side of things, the only reason I am not at a full 5* stems from the fact this is an "Americanized" version of Mexican. There are not as many truly authentic dishes as other restaurants in the area but this was also precisely why we chose to eat here (kid-friendly was a must have). I would happily tell anyone to stop by and have a bite; jumbo margaritas were outstanding too!
google avatar

Wanda H.

Yelp
A store clerk at Scheels suggested trying this place when my husband asked about good restaurants in the area and we're gllad we did. My husband had the special which was fish tacos and I ordered my go-to for any Mexican restaurant, a tamale. Flavors were ALL good and I had a huge raspberry flavored Margarita to go with. Service was efficient and friendly, and the prices were moderate.
google avatar

Adam A.

Yelp
The food is great! The salsa is homemade, and chunkier than most restaurant salsa, with a perfect amount of spice. The chorizo is perfectly salted, the fajitas come out HOT, and out food was out within 10 minutes of ordering. I will say the service was not amazing. Sat with empty drinks for 20+ minutes and no chips. But the food is worth the stop.
google avatar

Chloe S.

Yelp
Service was slow. I get it... everywhere is short staffed and lunchtime is busy. Server was stressed and it showed in the attitude he gave customers. Food is anything but authentic. Everything was bland. Beans tasted like they were straight out of a can. No bueno!

Payton S.

Yelp
had to download this app to shoutout the goat server jesús. put up with my awful spanish i had to do for a project. jesús deserves all the raises he's my king

Manuel A.

Yelp

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Springfield! The food is always amazing! And the staff is so kind and attentive! Love their cheese sauce and the enchiladas are so yummy!!!!!! Definitely recommend both locations!!!!

Yelp
This is the first time I have tried this restaurant. Now I've been in Texas till recently. So what's Mexican food around here isn't really true Mexican food. I thought casa real was okay, but now that I have tried this place I will never go anywhere else. The refried beans are truly pinto beans. We try to taco, and it was very delicious. We also tried the burrito special. That was the true authentic hot sauce and a fresh homemade tortilla wrapped around the meat. It was excellent. so if you're looking for something authentic when it comes to Mexican food, you really need to eat here. And also I know that they do support locally food banks and food drives. You just can't beat this place

Yelp
Since day one its always been my favorite place as well the waiters and great service... best Margaritas
google avatar

Yelp
By far the worst food in I cannot remember! Everyone was lapping up this swill, like there was no tomorrow. I had no libations and therefore could taste the lack of quality. Do not waste your money. You will thank me And so will your stomach!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Discontinued their hot salsa and last time we went (before covid) we left after waiting 30 minutes to order, they told us "fine leave we too busy" ... sadly they are fired have not returned since January 2020 and never will

Yelp
For lunch on our second day in Springfield, after a great tour of the Dana-Lawrence house (don't miss it) we decided on Mexican and selected Xochimilco based on a "favorites" poll we had found on line, probably published by a local paper. Sorry, there has to be better Mexican in Springfield, or I weep for the town. This is what I call a cookie cutter family Mexican place with uninspired food. They are everywhere and are all the same. It's a place where people go and rave about the margaritas and don't care that the food is bland and soulless. This also underscores that these popularity poll winners are normally a guarantee of mediocre food. Maybe the polls are rigged. I am at the point where when someone says "most popular" I go another way. Mr D's carnitas were dry and dull. Ms D and Ms T was unimpressed with their enchilada plates. As I said, bland, pretty much unseasoned. My huevos con chorizo were OK. The chorizo was also not well seasoned. I did like the chiles torreados they made for me, but the corn tortillas were steamed so that they stuck together and I had to eat them doubled. My recommendation is to look for a small taqueria, there must be one in Springfield, or make much better food at home.

Yelp
Margaritas Were Trash! Ordered A Mango and Peach Margarita And Both Were Trash. Won't Be Coming Here Anymore

Yelp
Last night was the worst dinning experience my family, friends, and I have EVER experienced. 1st, the waitress was ignoring our table, 2nd my 1 year old child was sprayed with beer from another customer in a booth 2 tables down, 3rd the manager was incompetent and did nothing to help accommodate my already aggravated family. After pride fest we decided to come to this restaurant because my child was hungry. We drove separate cars as our big group could not fit in one vehicle. My husband and his group arrived first and got a table for us. The waitress asked if he was ready to order and he informed her he was waiting on the rest of our party to arrive. We arrived shortly after, and as soon as our group arrived the waitress came right back up, she did not give us a chance to even open the menus in front of us before asking what we wanted. Clearly, you're not blind and can see we quite literally JUST arrived and were not even seated yet with our menus STILL CLOSED in front of our chairs. We asked for more time, and were then ignored for 45 minutes. After having to WAVE down our waitress with a now fussy and hungry baby we finally were able to order our food. Once our food arrived we didn't even have a chance to take a bite until another customer 2 tables down from ours shook a beer and sprayed it in the direction of someone who the manager later defended. My child was also in the aim of the spray and took the majority of the sprayed assault. My husband was now obviously upset. The manager came up, said "I can't kick out a paying customer." I'm sorry, but your customer just assaulted a 1 year old (with no apology to us) and are we not ALSO paying customers!? Now my child and our food is soaked in beer. At this point it had been an hour of us in this horrible restaurant. We all just decided to eat as fast as we could because we were hungry and ready to get the hell out of this terrible place. The waitress did not come back to our table to refill drinks and we had to flag down staff for refills. I'm 8 months pregnant and I drink a TON of water. Also being out all day at pride fest we were all very thirsty. When we left to pay we asked for corporates number, they refused to give us a number and told us to go to the website where we can place a comment. What a joke. The manager then again defended the customers actions with the statement "I'm sorry, I've had a long day too" ...did your long day involve you along with your food getting sprayed with alcohol? If you're a redneck that likes beer sprayed on families and your food, this is the perfect place for you!

Yelp
Blah blah blah! Yet another Springfield attempt at "authentic culinary" that falls short. Nothing special about the food nor the dining experience. Better then taco bell so that's good, right?
google avatar

Kendy G.

Yelp
This used to be one of our go to Friday night places to eat. Never again. The last 5/6 times we have been the service had gotten worse and worse. I get it your so busy you don't care but eventually you won't be busy anymore with mediocre food and horrible service. The fiesta tacos were horrible bland meat tasted almost boiled, the only seasoning the poor stuff seen was the layers of cilantro you tired to hide the pale stuff with. The tortillas weren't toasted and falling apart all over.. i ate two bites of my food and the waiter could have cared less when i told him out was horrible, not even an acknowledgement. And just and fyi baskets of chip crumbs are not chips your customers want. Quit being so cheap and throw them out! You left my feelings for you as cold as my uncooked tortillas
google avatar

Vicki B.

Yelp
Great taco salads, and they have the best chips and salsa. Service is always polite, fast! Highly recommend
google avatar

Jean S.

Yelp
Decorated very nice. The staff is efficient and friendly. They offer a huge menu and the food is very good.
google avatar

Jill F.

Yelp
It has been several hours since I ate here and I'm still thinking about how terrible it was. First, and this is usually not a dealbreaker for me, the service was terrible. They just didn't have enough staff working for a busy Sunday. We waited ten minutes for a drink/chips refill. Strike one, but not unrecoverable. The thing that still makes me mad is that I paid $11 for cheap tortillas, unseasoned chicken, and like three tablespoons of verde sauce. And some refried beans out of a can and mediocre rice. Holy heck, I'm still kind of mad about it. Go to Taco Bell instead, seriously. It's the same calibre of food and you won't pay as much.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite mexican restaurant when I lived here!! I still talk about this place all the time!! Definitely recommend this place!! Their queso dip is to die for!! I usually get fajitas or the fajita quesadilla and I love either one
google avatar

Gail A.

Yelp
This is our go-to restaurant! Speedy service, plenty of yummy chips & salsa (made there by Luis!), & great margaritas. My all time fav is Fiesta Fajitas, and my husband's is the Burrito Loco. We love this place!
google avatar

Josue O.

Yelp
Ordered chicken & shrimp fajitas, the shrimp was cooler than the chicken (didn't think much at the time) and an hour later I felt very bad stomach ache and extreme vomiting plus more surprises & you know where in going... Food poisoning. + I had not eaten anything else that day or 3days after, now I'm contemplating whether to go to the hospital. Already missed a day of work.

Katherine K.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner. Food was good and margaritas were very sweet (might not be for everyone!). Service was friendly but a bit slow. We'd probably come back.

T. P. J.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great portions and excellent value for the money. Definitely recommend it for great tasting Mexican food.

Mitch E.

Yelp
A wonderful atmosphere with a great friendly and speedy staff. The food is always great and the drinks are aways strong!
google avatar

Hanna T.

Yelp
Fajitas was extremely salty. I was so dehydrated over night and my hands were swollen as a result. The meat is scrap meat. Very poor quality. I didn't order any drinks and the server gave us really poor attitude as if he wants to throw us out. Dessert Xochimi was supposed to be signature. The dough was thick, everything was bad. Taco Bell is better. I want to give 0 star.

Yahbingle B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Best chips, guacamole, salsa, and queso!! Highly recommend stopping in.
google avatar

Carol S.

Yelp
The rice and beans was very good, the Chicken Enchiladas Verdes had a weird taste. The plate came with 3, but only ate one. The service was bad, but they were extremely busy, so I won't complain about that. I won't be eating here again.
google avatar

Kristina K.

Yelp
Has definitely gone downhill in the last couple years. They bought the area next door to expand and it lost a lot of charm. Food keeps getting smaller while the price keeps going up and the place keeps getting dingier. If I do eat here, you don't want to know me an hour later. I know, gross.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but they have really gone down-hill since the INS raided the place. Apparently, they deported the good employees and left all the duds. Service was horrible! Food was mediocre at best. I know they are virtually an institution here in Springfield but I don't think they will last very much longer if they don't figure out how to get back to the way they were before. I cannot recommend anyone visit this restaurant until they get back on track. As I told the cashier (no sign of the manager) we won't be back anytime soon. Apparently, neither will the family behind me as I paid the check as the woman in line behind me couldn't wait to tell the girl how displeased they were as well.
google avatar

Marianela C.

Yelp
Good Mexican food! Great service- very friendly and attentive. This is a great place if you don't like super strong seasoned food
google avatar

Sara R.

Yelp
Best xochimilco location besides the one in Chatham!! I dream about their refried beans and queso all the time!!!
google avatar

Suzanne D.

Yelp
I hadn't been here for about 10 years (out of town) and the first thing a got was tacos. Not too fond of the pre-formed taco shell, but I have to say I love the remodel. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and the prices are great. I love their Enchiladas Supreme, and the wait staff is fast, efficient and friendly. I'll definitely keep coming back to find my favorite meal.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Did not care for. There really nothing authentic about it and the flavors are bland. The lady who sat us down ran so far ahead we guess what table was our. Our drinks came after we got our appetizer and main dish food. We won't be back..
