Creative Mexican dishes served in cozy, candlelit space adorned with tiles & carved woodwork.
"If your version of a good night is being surrounded by candlelight, antique Mexican wood carvings and tiles, and a few plates of tacos, Society Hill’s Xochitl is a must-visit. It has a casual atmosphere with one of the best mezcal and tequila selections in the neighborhood. And while we are always down for some flights (especially when they’re only $20) you can’t come here without trying a margarita. They have a basil pineapple option if you’re looking for something that's sweet and earthy, along with flavors like spicy watermelon, prickly pear, and a few others that always seem to have that perfect fruit-tart balance. Their house margarita is $14, but if you come in during Happy Hour from 4-6pm, they’re $6, and you can add purees and spices to them for a few dollars extra." - Candis R. McLean
"A few Society Hill restaurants are using the covered Shambles, a historic open-air marketplace that dates to the 1700s, for modern outdoor dining. Among them is the Tex Mex restaurant Xochitl, a neighborhood favorite for guacamole and margaritas. On the same block, Pizzeria Stella, known for its Neapolitan-style pies, and new American cafe/wine shop Bloomsday are also serving under the Shambles." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme
