X’tiosu Kitchen is a vibrant window-service spot in Boyle Heights serving inventive Oaxacan-Lebanese fusion like chicken shawarma tacos and spicy falafel.
"LA has great Middle Eastern and Mexican food, but this order-at-the-window spot in Boyle Heights slaps them together on its creative menu. X’tiosu Kitchen serves things like spicy Oaxacan chorizo kabobs on rice, black bean falafel, chicken shawarma tacos with spicy “arabesque” salsa (tahini and salsa verde blended,) and a tangy take on tabbouleh with nopales mixed in. It’s unlike anything we’ve come across in town and perfect for a quick lunch or weeknight dinner." - sylvio martins

"Lebanese-Oaxacan flavors marry well at X’tiosu in Boyle Heights, where tacos and hummus take unfamiliar turns toward the extraordinary. While the tacos are a worthy start, there’s also something special about sampling a falafel or chicken shawarma plate and letting the mix of flavors and cultures come through." - Eater Staff, Rebecca Roland
"Ignacio and Felipe Santiago, who both speak Spanish as a second language (they grew up speaking Zapotec in their hometown of San Felipe Guila in the Tlacolula district), made their way as cooks in the U.S. in a variety of styles of cooking, but it was Lebanese cuisine that intrigued them the most. Their first restaurant is a culinary mash-up, where cool mezze meets hot salsa, the tabbouleh has cactus and jalapenos, and chicken shawarma tacos — as well as Mexiterranean wraps — are given their due respect as burritos." - Bill Esparza
"What It Is: A Mediterranean/Mexican fusion spot in Boyle Heights Perfect For: Lunch, Casual Midweek Dinner One of the better fusion/mashup restaurants we’ve tried recently, X’tiosu Kitchen is a Mediterranean/Mexican order-at-the-window spot that just opened in Boyle Heights. This is fantastic food perfect for lunch or a weekday dinner when you need something good and quick. Your first order of business should be the chicken shawarma tacos, but the chorizo kebab plate (with some really excellent hummus) also needs to hit the table. Just make sure you put their garlicky Toum sauce on everything. The Verdict: Really good fusion food. We’ve added it to the Hit List." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, brett keating
