Yak & Yeti, Crystal Palace

Nice restaurant, went for a holiday to Nepal so wanted to try some Nepalese food locally. Located in the centre of crystal palace. Service was friendly and efficient. Wide choice of food at reasonable prices. Wanted to try the dall bhat since we'd enjoyed it so much in Nepal. Whilst the portions were a good size it wasn't really the same,taste and ingredients wise, but still nice. The momos were a bit disappointing. Overall it was an enjoyable visit though.

Amazing staff, and equally amazing food and service! We received a private area for our party and their staff regularly checked in on us. We had a designated waiter with us who was also assisting us throughout the night. Food didn't run out at all. All the guests were giving the Chef compliments. We were allowed to decorate the place the night before which was really nice of them! We highly recommend this place for events or even just for a night out to eat.

We ordered a takeaway for my mums birthday - the food was delicious (as always). The owner hand delivered our order, as well as a surprise bottle of wine for my mum as a birthday present. SO thoughtful :)

Came here for a dinner and staff were really welcoming, we were taken care of very well and the food was amazing! Definitely recommend! I’m excited to come back to try more!

This cuisine is sweet, portions smaller than I expected, except for the Dhal Makhani, flavours were good except for the sweetness that was added to most of the dishes, found that there was too much salt too.

It used to be good. I was disappointed tonight. They reheated the chicken and sent it to me. When I called the restaurant and told them what was wrong with the food they offer me to give something free when I order next time. It won't be next time.

Food was fantastic.. Very surprised as I ended up there because the restaurant I was planning to go to was fully booked.. Will definitely be going back and will recommend this place to anyone who likes good food. My only concern was not with the food or the quality of their service, but some of the chairs were so worn that they should really get them replaced.

Really good Nepali and South Asian food served with upmost courtesy and charm. It was always fairly decent at minimum, but has now improved in quality and I can thoroughly recommend. Definitely make room for Momo starters, these are the epitome of Nepalese food, and done very well here.

Been coming to this Yak & Yeti for a few years now and the service and food has always been to a high standard. This time was a Monday evening and it was surprisingly busy. The staff are all friendly and make an effort to be polite and informative about the food. The food is not just Indian but also Nepalese so you do not have to just have the usual curry. They have offering from a clay oven also if you would rather have something not to saucey, as in the traditional tikka masalas (which they do have on offer). It location is just the wrong side of the Crystal Palace triangle but it has been there for many years now so this has not affected it to badly. It is a nice restaurant as you can always have a conversation and actually hear the other person without shouting which I always find useful. If you want to line your stomach before hitting the bars in the Crystal Palace triangle you could do a lot worse than here. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are of a good size so you should not leave there hungry. As like most restaurants of this type puddings are not their strong point but the starters and main meals make up for this in my opinion. All in all a good restaurant which I will continue to use.

I had to drag my Mrs in here. She was put off by the colourful sinage for some reason, but I just had to know. Thank goodness - Yak and Yeti has finally restored my faith in there being a half decent indian/nepalese restaurant anywhere near the Palace. We popped in on Monday early evening and were the only ones in. The service was slow and clumsy - at one point we asked the reccomendation from the waiter of which to have and if the Goan Curry was any good. The waiter scrunched up his nose and pointed to a completeley different meal and said that was better, the Goan Curry is not soo good. - You have to laugh. Despite there not being the best service in the world, the food was great. Sometimes, you can order three different things off the menu, and they all sort of taste the same, but not here. We ended up ordering the Goan Curry (plenty of fish, but a little too anaseed for my taste- not unplesant) Sagg Allo (creamy spinach and well seasoned) and a veggie curry. The veggies were not overcooked and each sauce was lovely. Especially lovely onion bajis and nann. Not oliy and sloppy but crisp and full of flavour. They even threw in a few poppadoms while we were musing over the menu (you would be surprised how many places now charge for poppadoms - it's so frustrating). Fingers crossed the take-away is as good as the sit down otherwise *shakes fists*. Yak & Yeti also seems to be sponsering local events such as the Crystal Palace Film Festival - which is also good to know it's committed to the community.

Went here last night for my boyfriend and his friends joint 28th birthday dinner. The staff were very attentive to our group of 12. no long waits for food, food was tasty..no complaints! They were really helpful in bringing out the surprise birthday cake and played happy birthday to the whole restaurant. Restaurant is nicely decorated and furnished. Would go back for sure and it's local :) thank you yak and yeti!

Service is terrible here and if you want delivery expect to wait at least an hour. This is not necessarily due to popularity overwhelming the kitchen but because the staff are just incompetent. The food is really rather good so it is a crying shame the service is so appallingly poor.

Why this wonderful restaurant had only just above 3 stars before I decided to review it is beyond me, possibly a result of weirdly off-the-point reviews such as the ridiculous CJ who complains about 10% surcharges - as if that's either compulsory, or unusual. I love Indian food and have tried so many restaurants across the world as well as in London, the best city in the world for it, and Yak and Yeti is a cut well above the norm! So I hope to up the "star power" of this magnificently tasty, delightful discovery that has quickly become one of my favorites. The spices and flavors Yak and Yeti mix together have that recognizable "conventional Indian" note, but with a freshness and zest and distinctiveness that seems to be very much their own signature. The bold, gutsy flavors of the genre are elevated with tangy and uplifting twists, and on both of my experiences here, the waiters are not only extremely personable and attentive but also able to explain in detail the subtle differences between different spices and dishes in the very varied menu that includes dishes I've never heard of before and are truly delicious. This is a very special place and I would highly encourage anyone who loves Indian to come here and enjoy the difference.

Yak and Yeti has become my favourite Indian food restaurant and take-away. I was actually drawn more to the unusual name than the food until I tried it. The restaurant itself is not always that busy but the take-away service seems to be running around like mad people. They have not disappointed me once when others have. If you live around the area, you can almost guarantee that your food will be delivered to you in record time. I can not comment about the entire menu as I tend to stick more with their Rosh Rogan, Roti and Papadoms. Their samosas have great flavour and a bit of a bite. You've seriously got to try them next time you crave Indian Food.

The folk at Y&Y have worked hard to improve the look of the restaurant. New signage too. It's just off the main drag of Crystal Palace's triangle but totally worth going to. I've never eaten inside. Although it's clean and well laid out, it just doesn't feel cosy - it's too bright for me. But plenty of people do. However, I have ordered food to take away / get delivered and it is very delicious - Nepalese and low fat (although I'd question that last claim!) The house special Momo (dumplings) is gorgeous, Pokheroli lamb (with aubergine) is moreish...or the Chicken Nepal (with mango)...and Saag paneer... day dreams Delivery service is prompt and polite. Go try it.

10% service charge, are you serious? I believe waiting staff is employed to do just that, I'm pretty sure their job description mentions taking food to tables and such. Apart from this which is simply a no go for me, the food I ordered was absolutely bland. Yes, I did order a mild dish, but hey it contained coconut and nuts, so it should have some flavour. Also the chicken felt weird and not very well cooked. The only nice thing was the wet towel at the end of the meal, it smelt like roses.

Eaten in here twice, first time it was a bit quiet but the food was amazing. Second time there was a large group of us, the food was still excellent and the service was above and beyond. Will definately go again.

One of the best Indians on town. The ghurka cottage is close though.

I'd really like to write a review panning this place so that I can always get a table, but that would be impossible to do. This place is superb in every way. The warmest of welcomes soon leads into one of the tastiest dining experiences imaginable. An immense menu full of choice for vegetarians makes choosing your meal refreshingly difficult, but fear not, whatever you choose, it will be delicious. Easily one of, if not THE, best places to eat in Crystal Palace.
