Where to Eat and Drink in Arvada | Eater Denver

"Set in a 19th Century house, the maze-like Yak & Yeti is an Arvada tradition for buffet lunch or family dinner. Comforting Indian curries and Tibetan dumplings are served alongside house-brewed beers, hot chai, and mango lassies." - Gigi Sukin

Really good Indo-Nepali-Tibetan food here, especially if you're vegetarian. And the beer? Awesome! They brew it themselves, and I loved the Thai Tripel. Apparently, the Chai milk stout is a big hit. Plus, they have a decent happy hour, so that's a bonus

The salmon was so salty it was barely eatable. As was the sauce. It tasted good otherwise though. The veggies with the salmon were too greasy to eat. Service was very slow. My friends said their food was great as always. Most of the dishes offered are dug out of the buffet. Which tastes good, but people lick their fingers and cough on the food, so I don't eat it anymore. We sat across from the bar because it was quieter there. I liked the music after they turned the speaker off at the bar that was thumping the bass. Some of the staff don't speak English but everyone was very nice otherwise.

Buffet or ala carte. Buffet selection was limits to curry and Indian dishes. Ample salad bar and dessert. Ala carte portions were generous. Service was great. Reservations recommended as seating was limited.

I was here yesterday and this place is amazing! 1. The staff was extremely accommodating! They did not once have an annoyed face even though we asked for so many different things! They are exceptional! If you want excellent service, then this is the place! 2. The food was delicious! For what you get, the prices are not bad at all! Compared to other places, you get a lot of food! 3. The ambiance was great! I enjoyed eating here with my friends!

Google
This place is absolutely wonderful! The buffet spread is fantastic with a lot more options than other Indian buffets. service is prompt, atmosphere is relaxed. Everything is authentic. They have a brewery inside!!! I will be partying ways with many of my hard earned dollary doos at this place now that I've broken the seal. Highly recommended

Google
The food was absolutely delicious I was here for a meeting with a group of people. They put us in a room upstairs that had absolutely no air conditioning and the temperature was well above 90° inside. I ended up having to leave because of how hot it was. The building definitely needs some work and to get their AC fixed

Google
I stopped by the Yak and Yeti Restaurant and Brewpub for a local brew. I had the jalapeno ale, which was quite good. Then they gave me an appetizer, which was a nice surprise. Overall, this is a really cool place to enjoy a brew.

Google
So good! I've been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. I had the lunch buffet last time and was so pleased. It was the best buffet of this type of food that I've ever had. There were so many delicious choices and it all tasted very fresh, as if I had ordered directly from the kitchen (which, in my experience, is so unusual for a buffet). It was more expensive than I was expecting, but still a good value given the quality of the food. The staff was very friendly, as always, and the ambiance was nice.

Yelp
Yak and Yeti has been on my bookmark list for far longer than I'd like to admit! I was finally able to come with some friends and both our little ones. My little one has always been a chicken tikka masala and saag fan like her parents so I wasn't surprised when she devoured it! She also really enjoyed my mango lassi. The other little one is a bit picker so his parents weren't for sure what he'd eat... he downed the chicken tikka masala! Service was great, portions were good, and we really enjoyed their nice outdoor patio on a nice fall evening!

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here tonight. We failed to make a reservation but were able to be seated quickly and easily thankfully! So many kind and helpful servers... even making our 21 month old feel like a special king! Deciding we wanted to try a variety of menu items since it was our first time here, we opted for the buffet. Not being a buffet person I was a tad hesitant but I shouldn't have been. Food was well protected from people breathing on it- and it was so tasty! Loved the vegetarian options but the lamb dish was probably my favorite- that as well as the multiple choices of desserts Our room was great for a larger group - nice and quiet with wonderful decorations. Ambiance perfect!

Yelp
Definitely our go to Indian food! They do have the buffet option but we usually order straight from the menu because we have our favorite go to orders! The sweet potato masala is pairs well together with the creaminess of the potato and the sauce. The tandoori chicken wings take 15 mins longer to cook than the other foods but it's definitely worth it! We always wait for it hahaha! Any naan flavor you choose will be a good choice because they are all good. My husband says he enjoys their beer collection and they have good beer! Service is always so wonderful and very attentive! Never had a bad experience here. Whether we dine in or take out - always great service. Environment is nice and love how it feels homey with the different rooms inside!

Yelp
Wonderful flavored foods with a great depth of spice. Enjoyed our dinner. Great atmosphere. Lovely waiter. I highly recommend.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We had buffet. Service was very good. And we sat and talked for a couple of hours and we were welcome to do so!

Yelp
3.5 stars. Customer service was fantastic when I came here with a group of friends to explore the Indian/Nepalese buffet. There were a few things I really liked off the buffet, especially the Vegetarian Korma (which is surprising for a meat eater!) and I mostly appreciated the wide selection. We ordered momo's on top of that. I want to try the beer at this location next time. It was a decent time, but I think this place is overhyped overall!

Yelp
I cannot rave enough about this wonderful restaurant. The food was delicious, even as leftovers. Our waiter made sure we had everything we needed and was pleasant. We were able to have a conversation and laugh without feeling like others could hear us or that we were disrupting their conversation. Too many restaurants make it so hard to hear people at your table. That's not an issue here. If you're dining with kiddos, be sure to get the table in the turret. They will love it. We will be back every single time we come to Denver!!!

Yelp
I have been a frequenter of Yak and Yeti for many years now. I have been to multiple locations of theirs (my favorite was when they were in Westminster where the Tamale Kitchen is now). I think that if you have never been to Yak and Yeti and are looking for a good Indian/Nepalese buffet, look no further. This IS the place. The buffet as a lot of good selections and they have a great drinks menu. That being said, I now feel like I need to review this place as someone who has seen it ebb and flow over the years. I think that this location is obviously the nicest interior and exterior as the other locations are pretty much just buildings with some stuff on the walls and really good food. Though, I don't think that really changes the quality of food I just thought it should be known that if you are curious about the difference of locations, that is going to be a big one. I think this particular location has the widest beer selection as well but that could be false now. It used to be that way years ago though. I will say that every time I have been to Yak and Yeti I get the buffet. I have never even looked at a menu. You should know that if you have never been that they will expect you to get the buffet because everyone does. I have seen the wait staff get kind of confused when someone does ask for a menu but they will obviously abide and not be rude about it. The buffet is king though and why people go. So, I have mentioned that the food is great and it is. Four stars alone for the food. But other things are being taken into consideration with this review and I will be the one that will say it if no one else will.... Yak and Yeti is resting on its laurels. The food is great but never really changes. If it does change it is that the preparation of the already known dishes changes slightly. The flavors are always on point but the flavors are the same level of depth as they have always been. Yak and Yeti has become so stable that if you go you better find something to become your usual because that is what you will always get. Maybe they are hiding some stuff on the menu that excels from what I am stating but I don't think so. The locations all have this slightly deteriorated look that shows that they could operate at the same level as they do now and never be worried about it, and from what I know of their fan base. That is true. Their servers just exist to grab drink orders but they also don't have a normal wait staff set up. It is like a group of people are your wait staff and you can pretty much just grab anyone to get you anything. If you haven't been before this can probably be confusing but they EXPECT that you have been before or are with someone that has been because that is how this place runs. The food is great but if you don't "get" what makes Yak and Yeti good the first time you go they won't wow you the second time so you probably don't need to go back. I can tell you though that I will go back and enjoy Yak and Yeti for years to come because their food is now a source of comfort. Maybe that will be you and maybe that won't be.

Yelp
Ya'll, when I say this is the BEST Indian food I've ever had.... I've had takeout and dine in, and their food is always spot on. When you dine in, service is great, someone is always checking on you making sure you have everything you need, and if you want anything more. The restaurant itself is very homey and cozy feeling. This is my go to for Indian food any night of the week, or a date night.

Yelp
It's both a dine in and a buffet experience depending on what you select. We did the dine in experience that way our food arrives hot instead of sitting out for a while. The tiki masala was probably my favorite of the dishes that we had ordered. It's not spicy but has enough flavor. The chicken was tender and easy to chew on. It's tastes delicious on top of rice or if you decide to dip it with the garlic naan. The saag paneer was also a solid selection. It does not have meat in it so great for non-meat eaters. The vindaloo was okay. The lamb was still very chewy so I would skip personally skip it or order with a different protein selection. Otherwise, service was friendly. There's an upstairs so lots of seats. The buffet area is located downstairs so if you happen to sit upstairs, you will have to do a little bit of up and down walking.

Yelp
Loved the food it's always delicious. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. The porch was perfect for dining alone.

Yelp
I am not going to lie. I have been to like maybe 5 different Indian food restaurants, so I really am no expert. But this has been my go to for years and years and is my favorite spot. In fact my whole family loves it and we come probably once a month, if not more. I love their curry fries, samosas and the Vindaloo. The family will always get the tikka masala or makhani. I think I honestly have eaten close to everything on this menu. It never disappoints, well like they are humans making the food so like maybe one time I got a curry that was lil watery and not as good as we usually get it. But I was like literally one out of 200 orders at this point. And I think it was even during or after the pandemic so like they get a hard pass on that. If you come for a lunch here you should definitely do the buffet. For the price you can seriously try a lot of the menu. It also seems to change a bit from time to time which I think is great. It's always fresh and the service is good. The beers are also great, I like the something giant its got hibiscus in it it's so good. Then the jalapeno pilsner is wild good. Like drinking spicy beer and eating spicy vindaloo on a cold winter day is grand.

Yelp
Love Yak and yeti! They have a good variety of northern India and Tibetan cuisine. I love how consistent it is. Bonus is they brew their own beer and chai! You can buy these at least at the Ralston spot. Love the honey chicken, masala and chili paneer. Pro-tip: parking lot is small, consider ride sharing! You can park next door after 5 or 6pm I believe.

Yelp
We absolutely love yak and yet, whether it's dining just myself and my wife, with friends/family, or take away. Such a cool ambiance and the food (and portions) are amazing! Highly recommended for a unique and delicious dining experience!

Yelp
Super cute "lodge-style" exterior and charming bar area. Excellent buffet and great beer! We will be back

Yelp
Beer selection is outstanding. And who doesn't love eating in an old converted Victorian house. The service is not going to be super fast (but when you're nursing a great beer and snacking on crackers and chutney who cares!) so don't expect food immediately unless you are getting the buffet - which btw if your new to jndian cuisine is so worth it. You get to try different things and see which ones you like. Not many great Indian places but this is definitely one of them!

Yelp
Great food! Quick takeout service. Very impressed that this chain still produces authentic homemade flavors.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner at Yak and Yeti. We made a reservation for 2 online and had our own little private room upstairs. The decoration and ambiance was wonderful and really added to the experience. We were well taken care of - servers were prompt and checked in on us the perfect amount. Since it was our first time here, we opted for the buffet so we could try out a variety of what they offer. I piled my plate high with a little of everything and it was all very tasty! They had great options for just about everyone. Big fan of the lamb, masala, naan, samosas, and the coconut soup! My second and final serving from the buffet was for dessert. They had a variety of fruits and a couple dips - I loved the mango custard. The highlight was the carrot pudding SO good. But also the donuts were perfect, not too sweet somehow. The jalapeño beer was refreshing, light and not spicy. The chai milk stout was so so good - but filling after a huge meal! They also have a great selection of cocktails and some wines if beer is not your thing! We arrived about an hour and a half before close, they do start clean up 30 minutes before close - but they are sure to let you know when the buffet will be taken down so you can go scoop up some last minute treats. I left so so so full and very happy. I'll be back!

Yelp
Authentic and delicious! If you're looking for a very cool atmosphere, come here! The location in downtown Arvada is inside a historic old house with really unique architecture and designs. They provide seating in the bar, in private dining areas, on the patio, and upstairs with book nooks attached to your booth. They have a wide variety of menu items but they also have a buffet for lunch and for dinner. The buffet is $25. Tonight I ordered from the menu because I wanted leftovers. I started with a beer called Little Umbrella which is a passion fruit mango wheat light beer. Fruity, slightly hoppy, and delicious! In the past I've also tried the Jalapeño Lena which is a Pilsner with jalapeño and is spicy! For dinner I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and jalapeño garlic cheese naan. The fresh garlic on the naan was so fragrant and delicious! The chicken was extremely tender and I could easily cut it with just my fork. It came with plenty of sauce which I like since I can pour it over the rice that automatically comes with the meal. You get the option of spice level (mild, medium, hot). I got medium and it was a true medium. Just enough spice but not too spicy. The service here was fantastic and my waiter was friendly and attentive (Bihan). I have sat in every area in this restaurant and they are all equally as good. The restaurant appeared clean and it was quiet enough to enjoy a conversation. The portions are enough for 2 people to share, so I had leftovers to take home. Great place! Delicious food and drink!

Yelp
Very friendly and large portions. Surprisingly decent Indian restaurant in Colorado!

Yelp
We have been many times. Generally we go with friends who live nearby. This visit was not all that bad but similar he'd from previous experiences. We came in a Saturday afternoon around 2pm. Without consulting the menu, we easily decided on the buffet. Food seemed fresh and well stocked. The selection was good. Chicken in the tikka masala was dry as a bone. The chili shrimp was good. The veg curry was ok but loaded with okra and eggplant. Two of my least favorite veggies beside broccoli. Lots of canned fruits and some low grade salad items. The pickled spicy onions were amazing. Samosas we're good. Overall just so so. Then the bill arrived. $60 for two buffets and a chai. Wow. Excruciatingly expensive for what we got. Next time I will just order off the menu.
google avatar

Suzy S.

Yelp
I was here years ago and didn't review. My husband and I just went back today for the lunch buffet and we are STUFFED! OMG! It was delicious and I wanted to eat so much more but just didn't have room in my belly. We will most definitely return.

Yelp
After hearing about how great this place was, we decided to make the drive out to Arvada to try it! We already knew we were going to love their beer as this is this restaurant was where Spice Trade Brewing Co was born out of. It is located in the Olde Towne Arvada and is in the "Eli Allen House" which used to be a post office and the home of a postmaster, Eli Allen back in the day! Its location and building definitely stands out on the streets. Unfortunately there is major construction going on the streets, it can be hard to get in to. The staff were super friendly and we were seated right away! We decided to try their Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Rogan Josh. Their tikka masala was spot on! It was the perfect balance of creamy and tomato-y. The chicken was super tender and not at all dry! It is definitely comparable to other Tikka Masala I have tried especially to Haveli's in Littleton. Chicken Rogan Josh is a dish we have never tried before but overall, I loved the spice aroma it had. It is a gravy style curry so it is definitely not as thick as the tikka masala but still very enjoyable with naan especially their garlic and cheese one! (warning --- it is super garlicky)

Yelp
Stopped by Yak and Yeti for dinner with some friends, and overall it was a good experience! It's always nice when you can find a new spot with South Asian food, and Yak and Yeti doesn't disappoint. You'll find the standard fare you expect from a normal Indian Restaurant, as well as some newer fusion type items as well. The fact that the building was definitely once a house, and still retains the structure of having individual rooms makes it quite a unique dining experience. Depending on the day, you may find that the restaurant is super packed, and as of late 2021, there's still so much construction going on in this area that it can be tough to find parking at the actual restaurant. A few folks in our party had to park in the neighboring street, but it's a short walk. The Brewpub side of Yak and Yeti was a welcome surprise -- I've never had an Indian themed Stout, and it definitely added to the experience! Overall, I'd recommend checking out Yak and Yeti in Olde Town Arvada!
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
Love Yak and Yeti! The original Olde Town Arvada location is the best...consistently good food and service!

Julie B.

Yelp
Flavorful, plentiful Service top notch, kind and very attentive Ambiance, CLEAN. Not often anymore do I see clean like they provide! Love it! Reasonably priced. We did not do the buffet but for someone with appetite, it was great!

Yelp
Had the Masala with Lamb. 4 level spicy and it was amazing. Garlic nan bread was a perfect complement.

Ishie S.

Yelp
The food that I got a chance to eat was good. Look, I get that it sucks to have people there late. We had an 8:30 reservation, had an accident at the National Park and were 15 minutes late. So just *don't seat us*. When we got there everyone was friendly, they were able to put our mono order through and get drinks out and it was a big relaxing breath of air to unwind after some sudden stress. They brought the bill nearly immediately. No problem. I tipped over 30% right there as a "sorry, thanks for accommodating us". After that, boxes brought midway, still had three beers of a flight of four left and the kitchen and waitstaff was literally lined up through the entryway glaring. I left the beers, packaged up the food as hastily as I could and left. I honestly wish I had lit the 120 bucks on fire and gotten fast food because I feel so much worse leaving than I did going. Again, if it's "everyone out by 9:30 or get a parade route of angry staff", then please don't seat people. Just say "sorry, we have everyone out by 930 and there's no time". We were really excited to try this place, and the food and beer we got time to try was good, but do not go unless you have two hours or more until close.
google avatar

Joy Q.

Yelp
- chai was warm and good - samosa was delicious - chicken curry was okay. Personally think it's too sweet and not tender enough - highly recommend the lamb masala with garlic naan Will definitely come Back and bring friends. This place is unique and has many beers.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Great menu selection and atmosphere! Both the food and service were good as well. Loved the fusion of micro brewery and Indian cuisine.
google avatar

Erika P.

Yelp
We ordered chicken tiki masala and chicken Kadai takeout at medium spice, delicious with the perfect amount of spice and flavor for us! The rice was also pleasantly flavored, something I don't often see. The garlic naan was chewy and delicious as well. There was plenty for 2 dinner servings and lunch the next day. Would love to try dine-in next time!
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
This place has some wonderful dishes I have never tried before. Being that this is a buffet you can try a variety of different dishes. Just take a small portion and if you like it get more. The food was always fresh in the buffet.
google avatar

Leah P.

Yelp
I've got to say, we used to love this place, but the quality has gone down considerably. The cleanliness is not up to standard. The carpets are filthy, we sat in a cute private corner room upstairs with an amazing painted ceiling, but quickly noticed how dirty it was. The curtains to the room look like they haven't been washed in 20 years and had dirty hands constantly touching them. As for the food itself, it's definitely not as good as it used to be. The cuts of lamb and chicken were dry and over cooked. The veggie korma, my usual favorite, was also way over cooked, and the naan was hard like it had been sitting for hours. I sure hope they take the time to clean and revisit the quality of their food so we can return to a once beloved restaurant.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
What a neat place in Arvada! I haven't been here in many, many years and while searching for a place to eat on Yelp, I remembered eating the lunch buffet here and greatly enjoying it. It's good to know that not much has changed in terms of quality service and food. The interesting interior of the restaurant is also definitely a plus. There is a lot of interesting books all around. What made me take a star off is the Vindaloo being quite bland compared to other Vindaloo I've had at other places. I would still recommend Yak and Yeti if you are looking for great Indian/Nepalese food!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
We went here for a date night and I have the day the food is top notch. I always crave vegetarian dishes when I want Indian food, my go to is mutter paneer and I also love something with saag. If I don't get mutter paneer than I get saag paneer or Chana saag. But Alfie doesn't care for my pea dish we we decided to get paneer with both today. It was a bit cheese heavy but that was our own fault and he admitted we should have gotten the chickpeas with the spinach but you live and you learn. That being said this was the best paneer I think I've ever had! It was so dang fresh, the perfect consistency, quite delicious. The flavor of each dish is so amazing, the quality of ingredients is high. Alfie usually goes for a chicken tikka Marsala which was amazing. Lots of chicken, good quality. I also appreciated that they had a nice mocktail on the menu, with mango and ginger beer. The main complaint is the service is slooooooow. Now I'm not sure if this is just because it's hard to find staff these days or what. But just keep that in mind. The food absolutely makes it worth it!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
I would love to leave a 5 star review and everything you guys do is incredible except for pricing. I have had a love affair with yak and yeti for the past 5 plus years and think it is probably some of the best Indian food in Denver. That said, and I get inflation and where the economy is at. It seems like your price is just creep higher and higher and it's quite hard to Even get takeout for less than $80. All of this had their lamb korma is a total star on the menu. I will keep supporting this business and I will keep loving them but please cool it on the price hikes.
google avatar

Shane G.

Yelp
Not sure how I even got a seat with amazing food like this. Ambiance, cost, and taste are all in perfect alignment. I will be back and I encourage everyone to expand their horizons by giving this place a try.
google avatar

Marty P.

Yelp
I've dined here several times in the past. Y&Y is still a favorite of mine for good quality Indian food. I dined here recently with a friend who was very impressed with the food. I believe it was his first time here. I love this Y&Y location because the building is an old house. Our waitress was very friendly and her service was top notch! We made sure to express our gratitude to her. I recall that we ordered Tandoori hot wings and chicken chili for entrees. The wings were excellent and the chicken chili was spot on. I will continue to return here for consistency and good service. Check out Y&Y if you haven't done so already! I actually miss their buffets too!

Yelp
Great service. Fantastic on-premise brewery. Loved the east coast IPA. Great Chicken Marsala.

Scott C.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. I love the ambiance of this eclectic restaurant. My coworker experienced her first Indian dishes and she loved them (especially being Gluten sensitive). The Chicken Momo, Curry Chicken, and Biryani Chicken were extremely tasty.

Ricardo T.

Yelp
Excellent food!! Probably the best Indian/Tibetan food I've ever had. Flavors are amazing and the hospitality is equally amazing! Wish more restaurants would learn how to be this hospitable. Excellent service! The perfect amount of attention/attentiveness for my preference. Never once made feel rushed and interacted with every guest the same way. I was by myself, and needed to do some work. I sat at the bar (so I did t take up larger tables) and shortly after the main host/server offered me a table for 6-8 people because he saw I could use the space. I told him I understood that the tables should be reserved for larger groups but he insisted. I will definitely return anytime I'm in the area.

Peter Z.

Yelp
Amazing Buffett. The food has so much flavor. Amazing customer service, the staff is very kind and respectful. They have indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Hardly any complaints. The naan was flakey and buttery, the chicken wings juicy and filling, and the Chana masala was seasoned well.
google avatar

Erica Yiran W.

Yelp
I felt I never felt disappointed to Indian Restaurant till this one. The buffet looks so yummy, but it taste... horrible, it's like the chef forgot about the key ingredient, the curry, the spice, whatever, it just plain salty, and... salty... maybe u have to order meals, not buffet? But I have no interest to try anything anymore there...

Erik K.

Yelp
Highly recommend for any lover of Indian food, or anybody who is new to it! Things the place to go. The Arvada location is in a great setting.

Yelp
Super nice staff. Probably had one of the best margaritas I've ever had made. And the food was great. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
We were looking for a good buffet and boy did we find one! From the moment we walked in we were treated with so much kindness, we were seated right away (we came around 2pm on a Friday) it was luckily not busy yet. We got waters immediately and were asked if we were ordering from the menu or doing the buffet (buffet Friday-Sunday all day btw) of course we chose the buffet. My friend and I are both vegetarian and we were so happy that vegetarian options were available in the buffet. Mostly classic dishes were available but that's exactly what we wanted. Samosas were AMAZING I ate 4 and they even had the dipping sauce I think was called chutney? Delicious. My friend has the paneer saag and I had the Chana masala the spice was there but not at all over powering and the flavor was great! We both had the rice pudding for dessert and we left very full and very happy. Will DEFINITELY be back!

Yelp
We stopped in at Yak and Yeti tonight on our trip to the Denver area after seeing all the great reviews and I can definitely say we were very impressed! The service was fast and our food was delicious! We ordered garlic naan, vegetable samosas, chicken momos, chicken biryani, and butter chicken. Each dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We're looking forward to enjoying the leftovers later tonight ...

Yelp
We had the chicken korma and chicken tiki masala which were both delicious. We ordered one medium and one mild. I would order both medium next time as the heat level was perfect. The complimentary app with dipping sauce was very good. I recommend to anyone craving Indian food.
