We stopped in one afternoon during a long day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. We had heard that this place was pretty good, so we wanted to check it out for ourselves. We made our reservations, came in, had a seat, and got ready for our meal.
The ambiance was classically Disney well-themed. You're inside some sort of Himalayan hotel and there are all sorts of knick knacks and artifacts everywhere. The façade of building also does not give you the proper scope for how big this place is. It's huge inside.
Our server was a really nice guy who provided good conversation. He was interested in the basketball game we had going on our phone, and he kept the drinks flowing for the whole meal. Really good server.
As for the food, we ordered a few things and split everything.
We started with the Ahi Tuna Nachos (Sushi grade Ahi Tuna, Asian slaw, crispy fried wontons, wasabi aioli, sweet soy glaze). This was a fun little dish! A fun, colorful, fresh slaw. The wontons as chips were genius. We need more of this in the world. The aioli wasn't too wasabi-y, so don't fret. And of course, there wasn't enough tuna, but what was there was good. A very nice dish.
We also got the Bhaktapur Duck (Roasted half duckling, plum BBQ sauce, Jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables). This was ok. It was a nice dish, but the duck didn't deliver an amazing duck experience, and the sauce was just sugar of course. Rice was nice. I'm glad there were veggies on the plate.
For dessert, we split the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake (Served warm, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce). Also pretty ok.
Overall, a classic typical Disney restaurant. I had a good time, and we had a good meal. Would come back, if we had to eat in the park.
