Chinese Food on Christmas Is a Jewish Diasporic Tradition Everyone Can Adopt | Eater

"A now-closed Boca Raton restaurant described as Chinese- and Japanese-inflected and remembered in family lore for chaotic holiday scenes in which diners clamored at the hostess stand until one guest brazenly took an empty table for ten—an act that became part of a memorable first-family-meeting anecdote; its shutdown has only heightened the nostalgic retelling of its holiday madness and the comfort-food nostalgia (kung pao, lo mein) associated with it." - Rachel Levin

This sushi restaurant is a gem! The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and efficient, delivering top-notch service even during peak hours. The ambiance is stunning, with soft, inviting lighting and tasteful, modern decor infused with subtle Japanese elegance, creating a warm yet sophisticated vibe. Parking can be tricky during rush hour, but the aesthetic charm and exceptional attention from the staff make it well worth a visit!

Yakitori Sake House is perfectly situated in the heart of downtown Boca Raton. They offer excellent happy hour deals daily from 3–6 PM. The food is always fresh, made with quality ingredients, and the service is consistently great. A go-to spot for sushi lovers and happy hour fans alike! Highly recommend spicy tuna or cucumber wrap roll. #YakitoriSakeHouse #BocaRatonEats #DowntownBoca #BocaRatonRestaurants #SushiLovers #HappyHourDeals #BocaHappyHour #FreshEats #SakeTime #FoodieFinds #SouthFloridaEats #BocaDining #BocaFoodScene #BocaRatonLife #BocaRatonRealEstate #SouthFloridaRealEstate #GraceBucholtzRealEstate #LiveInBoca #BocaRatonHomes #LuxuryLivingBoca #BocaRatonLifestyle #PalmBeachCountyRealEstate #MoveToBoca #BocaRatonRealtor #BocaLiving #SouthFloridaHomes #GraceBucholtz #DGSouthFlorida #DGRealEstate #FloridaLifestyle

Google
Good food and decent service. Overall, we would visit again. I think the beef Mongolian was good, but I had to add extra spice to it.

Out & About

Google
I took my office team here for lunch on a Friday and we were all equally pleasantly surprised by what a great experience it was. First off they have a lot of very creative and deliciously imaginative sushi rolls on their menu. If you have a hard time making decisions this is going to be a challenge for you. We each ordered something different from Bang Bang shrimp, to rolls like Tokyo Sun, Out of this World, Red Hot each are just a few of their signature rolls. We also loved the Volcano Fried Rice (a must). I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant over the years, I have no reason why I hadn’t tried it sooner and I’m so glad I finally did. Definitely a must go!

Google
Awesome food service and location. Gyoza excellent and spicy tuna roll large and delicious. Hot sour soup delicious. Came with picky ramen eater who liked it. Interior a bit dark and run down and could use refresh but food very good.

Google
Super great & delicious. Everything is 100% drool worthy & taste so fresh! The service was also great. I have been there many times ao i would recommend the Spicy Tuna Tartare, Short Rib (Robata Grill), Gyoza, all of sushi and happy hour menu.

Yelp
This restaurant is always busy for good reason. The food coming out of the kitchen is consistently good. It's a favorite local spot of ours in Boca Raton, Florida. The scallop carpaccio, lamb lollipops, fried volcanic seafood rice, and seared bluefin with foie gras are some of our favorite dishes. The food is top-notch and the service is impeccable. During peak times, finding parking in the nearby lot can be challenging. The restaurant can also be a bit loud when crowded.

Yelp
Good spot... part of the growing Yakitori / Coco / Saiko-I / Koi chain of places. Casual, easy going atmosphere. Food was very good. Tasty Spring Rolls and Gyoza (better steamed). Seaweed Salad excellent. Noodle dishes are good, sushi very good. Amy provided good service, personable. Was packed, so sat on the terrace (enclosed)... Fair prices. Wasn't happy hour, but their places usually have good ones, although on the early side. RECOMMENDED

Yelp
We had a girls' dinner at Yakitori Sake House on a Wednesday night, and it was such a great experience! I found parking easily at Royal Palm Place, and even without a reservation, we were seated right away with the option to sit inside or outside -- we chose inside, which had a cool, upbeat vibe and a large, sleek sushi bar. Our server was super friendly and attentive from the start. We began with the crispy rice (we swapped the tuna for yellowtail -- a great choice!) and the sushi pizza with tuna. Both appetizers were incredibly fresh and beautifully presented -- I loved the colorful fish eggs on each piece. We ordered three rolls: the Red Hot Roll, Salmon Atami Roll, and the Out of Control Roll -- which truly lived up to its name. It was absolutely amazing and my favorite of the night, though all the rolls were fresh, flavorful, and well-portioned. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and size. I was seriously impressed and will definitely be back. I'm already thinking about that Out of Control Roll... I might have to order it again right now!

Yelp
Got the Rainbow Naruto roll and the Sea Port roll. Both were so good and a decent amount of sushi for the price. Great location with outdoor seating and the server was super nice! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
SUSHI WAS SO GOOD SAME AS THE MISO Soup Also, the workers were so nice so tasty you have to come here they have the best sushi in Boca Raton. Please trust this should be a five star rated sushi place but it's only a 4.1.):

Yelp
I come here on Sundays for their happy hour and their shrimp tempura is excellent! 9$ for a big roll with avocado and cucumbers. Usually happy hour rolls just come with shrimp and this one is a legit roll. The servers are really attentive! Bang bang shrimp was delicious! Gyozas were cooked perfectly. I also tried their mango margarita and it had good amount of alcohol in it! Definitely recommend this place, great indoor and outdoor seating is available. Lots of parking is available!

Yelp
Food excellent and super fresh, service spot on!! The place is small and a little too dark for me, Inside tables are right on top of one another so a private conversation is difficult. We had the lobster dip which I took a picture of because it was not what we expected but definitely not disappointed. We also had the Blue Crab Gyoza, the Lobster Bomb roll, another roll topped with Crabmeat and Crispy Rice with Tuna. Everything was delicious?

Yelp
I had the food delivered and it was fresh however i ordered 3 rolls and they were all jammed into one container. I couldn't even get one piece out without destroying the rolls. I asked for 3 sets of chopsticks and only received one set. Also there was inly enough wasabi and ginger for one roll and that was also plopped right on top of the 3 crushed rolls and smushed down by the lid. The dumplings were tasty. The seaweed salad could have been softer and also had hot pepper flakes sprinkled throughout which was not on the description. I wanted to love this place as it was open late. I will keep looking.

Yelp
TL;DR: Yakitori Sake House is a pan-asian kitchen and bar with a trendy ambience, quick service, and flavorful noodle dishes. Price point: $$ Nutrition Info Available: No My experience: I ordered a chicken pad thai and green tea for dine-in for a very late dinner on a Saturday night after a show at the Studio at Mizner Park. Food: 5/5. I ordered the pad Thai based on prior Yelp recommendations and it did not disappoint. The portion was large, and the noodles were not overly saucy or greasy. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional pan-asian dishes, including sushi and noodle options. Service: 5/5 We made a reservation on open table, but at the late hour we dined we discovered it had not been necessary, as there was plenty of seating available. We were greeted by the hostess promptly and quickly seated. Our waitress was quick and efficient in helping us order. Ambience: 4/5 Yakitori had both indoor and outdoor seating, though the indoor seating area was smaller than I expected based on photos. The restaurant has a trendy, classy atmosphere. The noise level was moderate. Because of the smaller space, the tables felt close together. Plenty of free parking was available in the strip mall parking lot, though it seemed that the lot would quickly get full during peak hours. What I would recommend it for: a craving for solid pan-asian food in a classy atmosphere in the Mizner area during off-peak hours.

Tim R.

Yelp
The food here is always amazing! We ordered supposedly amazing Mediterranean food tonight from an highly regarded restaurant and it was awful! Yakitori is always outstanding! People who work there are always awesome! The food is always great! Beware of the restaurants with 5 stars that you have never heard of ! I believe they pay for positive reviews! Do not order food From. UZZO Mediterranean!! I called And told them how awful dinner was and the exact words was stilck it up your ass!

Yelp
In an area inundated with restaurants that have very few affordable options this place stands out. There are a huge array of sushi rolls with all kinds of flavors and a lunch special that has $12.95 options for those that don't want to spend $150 on lunch in Boca Raton. This place is the most honest sit down lunch spot in the whole area.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere Faizal is such a good bar tender ... and person... and very knowledgeable I love coming here after my shift

Yelp
Amazing service! The waiter was super friendly, attentive to allergies and fun! Our friends ordered sake bombs and honestly for whatever reason all 3 of them didn't have a single drop on the table. Even the waiter was like that's the cleanest sake bomb I've ever seen, I had towels ready just in case but you guys don't need it. The interior is really modern with these funny money bag lights at the bar and cherry blossoms decorating the inside. There were lots of seating both inside and outside. Perks that it is a corner restaurant! I ordered a Red Dragon roll which has salmon, spicy tuna, tiger shrimp and other ingredients. Surprisingly, I was full from that roll alone and it was around $14-16. Delicious option! My friend got the Tuna Lover which was extremely pretty with different colors of masago which was so fun! And someone else got the Lobster Pad Thai which was so fragrant and actually had good sized pieces of lobster. Noodles were also the perfect texture. Great place to dine! Also saw a couple of people on their first dates here :)

Yelp
Came here last night around 7:30 and was able to get some seats at the sushi bar. Their miso soup is great and has noodles which was a nice extra than your traditional miso. Started with the fried pork gyoza to start which was full of flavor and perfectly crispy. We shared four rolls: the out of control, tiger, valentine & classic spicy tuna. All of them were really good, I just wish the fish was a little colder, everything was lukewarm. I think cause they were all pretty similar no one roll really stood out. They were also out of basil so I had to try a different drink than what I had originally wanted but the King Hendricks was still good (and strong!). Finished with the fried banana which was good. Our server Fizo was great & very attentive. Service was great, food wasn't anything special. They have outdoor seating available as well.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday with a couple girl friends around 6:30. The place was pretty busy but we were seated right away in the patio. We started with the shishito peppers and the octopus and conch salad. The peppers were good but I wish they roasted it a bit more. And it was 2 skewers of 4-5 peppers which is more than I'm used to so that's a plus. The octopus and conch salad was fresh with a hint of spice which I enjoyed. For mains, we ordered the seafood clay pot and the short rib robata. The clay pot was sizzling and delicious. The sauce was great with rice. The short rib was my favorite. The beef was nice and tender and flavorful. I would definitely come back and try other things in the menu.

Yelp
Great happy hour specials! Attentive staff. Casual dining with a nice outdoor seating area.

Yelp
A hidden Boca gem!! We'd been here before and loved it. We decided to go again it is probably getting better. The staff are really courteous and will seat you right away. They have inside seating, as well as a small bar and plenty of room outside. Their happy hour specials are great and their drinks and appetizers come out pretty quick. The sushi rolls are good in size, are really fresh, and the portion size is generous. There is plenty of other options on their menu if you don't want sushi (fried rice, bang bang shrimp are really good). Overall a great place that deserves more local recognition!
google avatar

Yelp
Got the lobster dip (which wasn't actually a dip) but it was very good and flavorful. Got the tsunami roll which was nice and spicy but didn't have too much flavor and the fluke nigiri which also didn't have too much flavor. Would maybe go back to try other rolls and see if they are better.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Dined here for happy hour and was so happy to stumble upon this gem! Sushi was SO fresh and delightful, drinks packed a punch... but the highlight was the volcano fried rice! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Brianna M.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick happy hour lunch. It did not disappoint. We had vegetable steamed gyoza, bang bang shrimp, a salmon roll, and the sex on the moon roll from the happy hour menu. It was all great and affordable and would have come out to less than 30$ if we didn't get a lychee martini and a mango mojito. The service was great quick and nice. It was a quiet lunch time and this spot is cozy. We sat at the sushi bar; it is always fun to watch the chefs prepare the sushi. I would definitely come back here as we are sushi lovers and have been trying out new spots that have food, service, and ambiance all in one for the dining experience
google avatar

Yelp
Immediately greatest by pleasant server in a comfortable setting. We choose indoor seating but there is outdoor seating as well. Sushi was on point. Delicious for sure and we will happily return.

Yelp
Sushi here is always solid. This used to be my go-to sushi house and when my son sugeested it the other day, I forgot how much I liked it. Located in Royal Palm Plaza on the back end off of SE Mizner Blvd. Parking can be rough but you usually can find a spot. As of today, parking is still free, but there's talk they are updating the Pay to Park so watch for the signs. The inside is warm and inviting, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. There's nice outdoor seating too. Started with Steamed Goyza - light, filled with pork and served with a nice ponzu sauce. Red Dragon Roll - Salmon, avocado, mango, topped with tiger shrimp, spicy tuna and spicy mayo is one of the best rolls I've had. Top this off with a Mango Mojito and enjoy!!!
google avatar

Betsy S.

Yelp
It was a good place to go for dinner before the theatre in Broward. If you go before 6 pm, there is a happy hour. We ordered a few things to split-Spicy Tuna Biscuit - Spicy tuna, jalapeño, crispy rice, tobiko, wasabi mayo and eel sauce, Red Dragon Roll, Salmon, avocado, mango, topped with tiger shrimp, spicy tuna and spicy mayo (But I had it without the mayo) and Sex On The Moon Roll Shrimp tempura, asparagus, avocado topped with spicy tuna, flakes, and sweet chili sauce (minus the asparagus). It was all so delicious that I will definitely go back. It's a very casual atmosphere and the staff is friendly. It is located in the north end of Royal Palm Plaza. It's a good place to go that won't break the bank.

Kai -.

Yelp
The food is better than Lemongrass and the atmosphere is less hectic and very Personable team and located in Royal Palm
google avatar

Stephen L.

Yelp
This really seems like one of Boca Raton's favorite places to dine and drink. The ambiance was cozy and well decorated. Had the eel roll and that was awesome. Service was friendly. Packed when I got there but of course it's Boca lol

Yelp
Partner and I took a trip up to Boca, and while there, decided to have lunch. My keen-eyed sushi loving partner spotted Yakitori Sake House situated in a sort of strip mall complex. The entrance door is located on the north side of the building and in order to get to it, you have to walk on the drive of the complex parking lot as there is no sidewalk from the front. And if that isn't alone bad enough you have to get up over a curb as there is no handicapped access. So, if you are on a walker like I, you might want to go elsewhere. When I entered, I was given a pleasant greeting. To the right of me was a bar and an open kitchen so you could watch the chefs at work. The interior décor of the inside is somewhat lacking and it was rather, almost to the point of being gloomy, wit no patrons. All the patrons were dining out on the patio and we joined them in what out there is very pleasant compared to the inside. They have both lunch and dinner menus and both are very complete with plenty of selections. I chose to have their sashimi lunch. My sashimi lunch was served totally decorative with a blue orchid (yes, I ate it), twelve pieces of assorted sashimi fish, and a bowl of sushi rice. The fish was jumping fresh and made for a very good sashimi lunch. My partner had two different plates of sushi rolls, basically, two lunches, which he thought were both very good.

Yelp
The food at Yakitori is generally very good. The parking situation is atrocious. We went for dinner on a Friday night at this busy downtown Boca restaurant and could not find a place to park in the lot or on nearby streets. It took us a 1/2 hour to park, pay at the meter and walk to the restaurant. Where's the valet parking when you need it? Yakitori has an extensive menu of sushi, rolls, salads, soups, noodle dishes and entrees. There are many appetizers and small plate options so you can easily mix & match dishes. One person in our group had the Kobe skirt steak entree, which consisted of sliced wagyu beef with bean sprouts, scallions and ginger. It was accompanied by a Korean BBQ sauce and rice. The wagyu beef was disappointing as it lacked the flavor one would expect from a quality beef dish. I had chicken fried rice, which was a bit bland and did not have much chicken. I added some of the BBQ sauce from the Kobe steak entree to give it some flavor. One person enjoyed a Tuna Biscuit sushi that included spicy tuna, caviar and jalapenos over rice. It was a flavorful combo of ingredients. The chicken lettuce wraps appetizers were also delicious. These featured chopped chicken, mushrooms and onions. And the chicken pad thai with rice noodles in a peanut sauce was a delightful dish. The service was very good. And the food was promptly delivered even though the restaurant was busy. This is the type of restaurant that warrants repeated visits so you can try the wide variety of offerings; however, it may be best to go at a non-peak time to avoid the parking nightmare.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
I cannot comment on ambience because I had delivery. The sushi had generously-sized slices of fish and it tasted fresh, as did the nori. The beef short rib came as two skewers; not a meal, but a nice snack. The crispy bok choy was good but way too greasy for me. If it had been patted down or even sat on a paper towel for a bit, it would have been much more enjoyable. The lettuce wrap was served with full and fresh romaine leaves, a huge plus over places which serve torn iceberg leaves. I will order from here again and will visit.
google avatar

Shanna L.

Yelp
Great family spot! We started with garden salads and the miso soup. The portions of everything are huge. The dressing was tasty. We had the chicken fried rice which was also delicious and huge. We got a bunch of rolls. The size of the rolls is huge. The quality of the food overall is a 7/10. It tastes like it all could be better quality but for a large gathering of hungry eaters who want a lot of sushi this is the spot. The spicy edamame with a nice starter. We got: Sex and the moon Firecracker Seaport Tuna lover Spicy tuna Scallop roll Overall the location, portions and services were great. The quality is average but it's a great - 1st date or family spot.
google avatar

Billy R.

Yelp
Excellent food and service can't wait to come back. The rolls were delicious. Was seated right away.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why it took us so long to try Yakitori Sake House. The sushi was great. All the traditional options and plenty of unique items. We were there on Sunday night for a lite bite but ended up ordering a bunch of things to try. The fish was fresh, the presentation was beautiful and the service was wonderful. We look forward to going back, especially to try the happy hour.
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Boca is not a great place to get sushi and Yakitori contributes nothing to change that fact. We had sushi sashimi combo lunch. Food was on the lowered of sushi in the area. Some pieces were OK, other pieces tasteless. The service was fine and the price typical in the area. If I were just rating the food I might even go with 1 star. Overall we were disappointed with the experience and would not return.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Went for a weekday happy hour and enjoyed our time. I definitely recommend going during Happy Hour, if you can. First time we've been here and the sushi is fresh and delicious. Outdoor and indoor dining available with quick, friendly service. Best thing: currently, there's a Yelp check in special for a free glass of wine or small sake!

Yelp
Yakitori Sake House is located in Royal Palm Plaza in East Boca. I came here for Happy Hour with my family after going bridal shopping with my daughter for her upcoming wedding. This place has a nice menu for Lunch (11:30a-3:00p and Happy Hour. ( 3-6pm dine in only.) I started with a Lychee Martini-Pearl Vodka, lychee juice and lychee fruit. It was delicious, and when I was finished I ate the lychee. My mom and younger daughter had their Mango Mojito. I tasted it and it was really good. My other daughter ordered a Pink Grapefruit Drink-Deep eddy ruby red vodka, cointreau and grapefruit juice. The bride to be ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The signature drinks here are excellent. I ordered Salted Edamame, 2 orders of Pork Fried Gyoza's, Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll, Sex on the Moon Roll- Shrimp Tempura,Asparagus topped with Spicy Tuna Flakes, and Sweet Chili Sauce. Bang Bang Shrimp-Lightly fried shrimps and coated with spicy mayo. Everything was delicious. I can see why this place is popular. My waiter was very nice. His drink recommendations were spot on. This isn't a very big place, but they have seating at their bar/ sushi bar besides some tables and outside on their patio. The walls are dark and they have a lovely Cherry Blossom Tree in the dining room. I would definitely come back here to sample some of their Sake, and some of their other interesting dishes. They have a large list of Hand Rolls and Signature Rolls along with Appetizers and Entrees.

Yelp
This is my fav sushi place. The rolls are creative and fresh. We're always served right away. It's great for parties because of the hot dim sum samplers and the hamachi jalapeño and salmon truffle I like their cold saki too by the cool thing is they have happy hour EVERY day. Whoop whoop. Definitely try the fried bok choy.

Yelp
Great authentic Japanese. Happy Hour is for a delicious bite and drinks is recommended. Everything is fresh and the service is outstanding. Very reasonable prices.
google avatar

Charlisha G.

Yelp
This place was such a pleasant surprise. I pass it all the time and this time me and hubby actually decided to try. The pina martini was sooo good. We tried the love boat for two and it was also delicious. All of the fish was fresh and the flavors were crisp. My favorite roll was the sex on the moon roll! It was really good. The server was kind and accommodating. She was also down to earth and quick with our requests. We ate on the patio and they have a huge fan to cool it off so it was comfortable. We kept having to fan away flies but that's expected eating raw food outside. The inside was packed and dimly lighted. I definitely recommend and will be back for another sex on the moon roll and martini.

Yelp
Yakitori Sake House absolutely crushes it with their sushi bar. Seriously, it's like sushi heaven. The selection is fresh, vibrant, and expertly crafted

Yelp
Literally they called to canceled my reservation about an a hour and half before because you don't seat 1 person in booths. This was for the other location in Ft.Lauderdale. I specially made one to not have this issue. Very rude and so sad to hear... I really was looking forward to trying it. It looks delicious. If it can't be done it shouldn't be an option to do so.

Yelp
The food is excellent . Great selection on the menu. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side. In order to sit inside you may need a reservations. Very nice atmosphere. Near Mizner Park and downtown Boca.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years. I came with a large group, we ended up needing two tables We all enjoyed their happy hour specials (4-6 pm). They have discounted beer, sake, wine, cocktails. I enjoyed a cocktail of tequila, triple sec and pineapple juice. It was smooth and tasty. I ordered from the happy hour menu the short ribs and tuna tartare with taro chips. The food was yummy. The service was good considering how big our party was.

Yelp
Raw fish quality is basic. Flavor is interesting and fun innovative. Enjoyed the Foie+Eel and Salmon New Way.

Yelp
Amazing food. great service. very kid friendly! Wish a place like this existed in jersey!

Yelp
Do not order from uber eats, use lemon grass across the street. Much better quality and service.

Yelp
Yakitori is amazing sushi place! We have recently started going back after a long time of not going here. All the sushi is a outstanding. However, you have to get past the maitre d' Calvin, who is often very rude!! If you venture to this sushi place don't be surprised if you encounter his unpleasant demeanor. There're too many sushi places to go around here. I would have given it a 5 star but For Calvin it went down. He gets a 2 the sushi gets a 5.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
I decided to take my wife to Yakitori for dinner the other day. Yakitori is located in a bustling shopping center in the heart of Boca Raton off Mizner Boulevard, close to Mizner Park. Since there are many restaurants in the shopping center, parking is an absolute nightmare. Not only was the small lot full, but people were double parking all over the place, making driving difficult. I'd definitely recommend an Uber if possible. Upon entering we saw a huge crowd by the door. There were heaps of Uber Eats drivers, staff members and people waiting to be seated all milling around and trying to talk to the staff. It was chaotic. We had a reservation for 7pm, but they didn't have a table ready for us at that time. They told us it would be another 20-30 minutes. I found this to be unacceptable. The point of the reservation is to hold a table at a particular time, not to give us a 30 minute window of when it could be. Maybe don't book so many reservations if you can't accommodate them in a timely manner? After being seated it took forever to get a menu, I wanna say 15-20 minutes. After we finally got it, it took another 15-20 minutes to place our order. Really slow! The staff seemed frazzled the entire night. They were clearly not up to the task and were either rushed or nowhere to be found throughout the evening, mostly the latter. Frankly, it's unacceptable for management to have 2 over matched people serving an entire packed restaurant. But luckily, I have an easy solution for the owners: Hire more staff! Anyway, we finally got to order and we decided to split the robata grill shisheto peppers and the salmon sashimi which came with fresh Asian pear, sea salt, yuzu, truffle oil, and miso. For my entree I got the Out of Control roll which is tuna, salmon yellowtail, tempura flakes, scallions, soy paper, four kinds of tobiko, spicy mayo, kimchee, and eel sauce. My wife got the Sea Bass over bok choy. Considering the long wait for everything thus far, we were not surprised when the appetizers took a really long time to arrive. Like 30 minutes for the two dishes, which put us at around 1 hour 20 minutes after arrival before we even got a bite of food. The peppers were definitely tasty and the presentation was nice. However, each skewer only had 4 peppers on it. If you've ever eaten shiseto peppers before, you know 8 peppers for 2 people isnt a generous serving. The salmon was good too, but the truffle oil was hard to detect and I didn't feel like the pear or miso added much to the dish. I liked the salmon, it was just rather plain. We finished those and waited for our mains. It took abother 30 minutes or so to get them. The waitress served the dishes quickly and took off for another table. Unfortunately, as she rushed off, I realized she forgot to give me soy sauce for my sushi and utensils and chopsticks for both of us. I waited and waited for her to come by, but ultimately decided to go in and find assistance inside. I will say the Sea Bass was excellent. Good quality fish with a very light and flavorful sauce. My specialty roll was average. It had a supernarket sushi vibe to it, nothing special at all. The entree portions were very good size. Yakitori definitely had some bright moments with the food, in particular the Sea Bass and the peppers. The outdoor dining ambiance was nice too. But everything else about the evening was subpar or irritating. It was also really expensive, well over $100 with tip for a meal that was mixed quality. For these reasons I give Yakitori 2 out of 5 stars. Both my wife and I would not recommend.

Yelp
* For sushi ** Skewer *** Service *** Ambiance The dinner at Yakitori Sake House started with edamame and fried pork gyoza. You can't mess up edamame and the gyoza was decent. Then ordered a few skewers from the Robata Grill section. Chicken breast was alright but bit dry. Asparagus was standard. Shitake mushroom was a problem. It tasted sour for no apparent reason. Not the marinade. I got but bit nervous so I did not eat it nor my partner. Made a complaint and they took care of the bill. The real issue was their sushi. All pieces were hugely cut and some were extremely fishy. It was very uncomfortable to eat and gaged when I bit into the salmon belly sushi. It was not in the condition to serve raw. Fishy and raunchy. I had to spit it out. Hirame was way to thick for what it is. Usually hirame needs to be thinly sliced due to the tough nature of the meat for raw consumption. It was fishy and very fibrous. Again, very uncomfortable to eat. I do not recommend this restaurant for sushi. The chefs are not Japanese. Each order were only one piece for sushi and two pieces for sashimi. Great location and the ambiance has a touch of night club sensation with blue and purple lights. Not your classical sushi restaurant.
