Definitely coming back here on my next visit to Little Tokyo. I only tried the matcha latte and almond croissant but they were both delicious and they had a lot more great looking baked goods and pastries.

A unique bakery with tasty treats that won't break your wallet. Found this bakery strolling through Little Tokyo. Notice typical sweet treats such as soft serve ice cream and various cakes. Yet they also serve unique snacks such as the "steam buns." The Steam Buns are worth a try. I tried the bun with the sausage filling and it was great. Unique snack that pairs well on a windy cold day. The bun aspect of the snack also felt light and not heavy like typical bread products. The Steam Buns run between $3-4. They are snack and if you looking for something more filling then I suggest you look elsewhere. No complaints with regards to the other sweets. The ice cream was on point and so was the strawberry roll cake. The strawberry roll cake tasted delicious and light. Fresh strawberries were a plus. Although there was a line during our visit, service was rather fast and friendly. I recommend visiting this bakery when you visit the Village in Little Tokyo.

I was walking around the Japanese Village and the Steamed buns smelled good. I ordered one each of the An Man (sweet red beans), Niku Man (pork & veggie), Pizza Man (pepperoni & corn), and Taco Man (beef & veggie). The An Man was overly sweet. The other flavors were forgettable. There are other pastries, breads, and cakes for sale. Service was quick. It is quaint bakery, no dine-in, there’s bench with gazebo for outside dining. Spend $10+ for card purchases and they give 1 hour parking validation.

Had 2 of the mushroom veggie bun..and I could have had 4 more. Such good soft dough, and the filling was so flavorful! Was the perfect little snack while strolling!

Friendly, welcoming staff. We were indecisive, but accepted recommendations for ordering. Large variety of desserts and some savory items. All fresh and great quality. We will return soon!

Whenever I'm in Little Tokyo, I come here for the yummy fresh breads. The melon pan is like a Mexican concha, but with the sugary topping on top. The bread is so soft. Goes pretty well with some coffee. The Green Tea Roll Cake was delicious. It is a light, fluffy sponge cake flavored with Japanese matcha green tea powder, rolled into a cylinder, and filled with sweet cream. I also love getting the steam buns. I love getting the An Man, which is a sweet red bean. The taco man, which is beef and veggies, and the curry man, which is chicken and veggies. I highly recommend it if you're in Little Tokyo. The service is excellent.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Came here to buy some affordable pre-made sandwiches and pan, they have a good selection of bread behind and in front of the counter. I got myself a tuna and turkey sandwich along with a yuzu cream and coffee pan! I always come here for their desserts and steamed buns. Everything is very fresh and staff is very kind. Every time I come here I order quite a lot as with the pandemic I do not come here often but my whole family loves their bakery so much I try to come a couple times a year. Also thank you very much to the kind lady who helped me out today she was very nice and attentive. Didn't get her name but she was wearing a gray sweater and was working today before closing.

If you're in Little Tokyo, make sure to stop by for a nikuman (pork bun). They come out super soft and hot, very inexpensive yet filling. Love Yamazaki Bakery!

Yamazaki Bakery serves food and drinks inside of their bakery. They also have a small stand near the exit where they just serve buns. The line moves quickly, but this is a very popular spot in the Little Tokyo plaza area. We ordered an iced hojicha latte and nikuman. I like that you can buy little bites from so many different places in this area and walk around and eat, rather than just going to one spot. The hojicha latte was good and refreshing. The nikuman was tasty, but the filling was not my favorite. It was very liquidy on the inside and not as firm as I would typically expect. It also had a lot of either leeks or green onions or some long green vegetable. The texture was a little strange, but it was still enjoyable.

It's been a few years since I've been here. Excellent customer service from the staff, pastries are fresh and good. They accept cash or cards. Cool little bakery. Prices are moderate.

I love coming here ! They always have good little things to snack on or have really yummy desserts. Even if you just want an ice cream they have it! I really like their drinks & the service is really fast. From savory to sweet they have it! It's really a line to enter order and exit, can't really linger in there to long especially when the line is forming behind you. Cute little bakery that I'd recommend.

My trip to Little Tokyo wouldn't be complete without picking something up from Yamazaki Bakery. This bakery is located right in the Japanese Village Plaza Mall. The bakery offers an assortment of Japanese-style breads, desserts and drinks. It is quite small there so it tends to get crowded quickly, but the service is quick! If you're looking for something hot to eat, they offer several steamed buns. The Curry Man and Niku Man are my personal favorites. I really enjoy the variety of items they have and there's something for everyone's tastes. I always find myself grabbing something to eat while I'm there and several items for home. There are also chairs available outside the bakery to sit down and enjoy your baked goods. Yamazaki Bakery is a must-go when stopping by Little Tokyo!

We want to support local businesses!!!! They are always friendly and the bread is very nostalgic. Try the pizza man it is so soft and delicious.

This place came in handy while I was in DTLA before I was heading to meet friends for Happy Hour in West Covina. It's a tiny shop but had some nice cakes, pastries and breads. Stopped by tonight for some hot steam buns and they were delish! I've tried almost all the flavors they are are each unique. I especially love how the bread of the bun literally melts in your mouth... so good! My personal favorites are the pizza-man and the curry bun. A good go to if the line is short, for a quick bite.

Was strolling in the plaza and saw this huge line at this bakery. We wanted to get in on that and see what's good about them. After abit of a wait, entered the shop (long and narrow space) and grab a drink. We looked at their limited menu and the popular item seem to be their large steamed buns. Looks interesting but we decided against the buns because we were planning on saving appetite for dinner later. Even tho there is a long line, it was organized and moves fast. Enter one way and continue in a single line through the shop and exit the back door so that there is only one flow for traffic. Made it easier and efficient. All items on display looks so pretty and tasty. I really wish I should had grab a bun. I did get a drink to hydrate from all that walking. Was refreshing.

Located in central ish area of Tokyo town in dtla. Small cart stand outside the bakery. Smelled good, prices were very reasonable. Lady who helped us with our order, was kind and helped us choose which get.it was soft and fluffy and a decent amount of pork and veggies.

Whenever we're in Japantown, I've always passed by this bakery but never gone in because of the long line. This time there was no line so I popped my head in to see what they had to offer. This is not a fancy bakery by all means. You go in, order and make your way out. We ended up getting a loaf of their Superior Bread which is basically Hokkaido milk bread. My daughter enjoyed this the next day for breakfast and she said it was delicious and very soft. I was also intrigued to see that they have croissant cubes so I ended up getting that too. It was filled with cream and red bean. I should've got another one! We'll definitely return to try their other goodies when we're back in the area.

Just wrapped up the summit down the street and needed a quick bite. Conveniently located next to parking garage. There was a short line, so that was my sign it was good. Lots of choices but settled for a savory steam bun, sweet baked bun and a cream puff. Cashier was very nice. Indoor space was snug, but lots to choose from bakery items and drinks. Few tables outside to enjoy your goods. The steam bun was hot, savory and delicious. The cream puff was chewy, cream was more of a custard like texture. Not my favorite. The baked sweet bun was a lot denser than expected, but the Yuzu cream filling was tasty.

We were walking around Little Tokyo & I got hungry so I was looking for a bakery nearby that had something small that would hold me for dinner. I got a melon bun & coffee bun. The coffee bun was a bit dry so it probably would have been better with a beverage. I did like the melon bun though. It was chewy and had more texture with a delicate flavor.

Took the kids to Little Tokyo for the first time and stumbled upon the legendary Yamazaki Bakery. There was a line out the door, and since I refuse to be the one who's not in on the hype, I jumped in and ordered one of everything. My favorite? The chicken curry bun - it was piping hot and delicious, like a cozy hug for your taste buds. But, pro tip: these buns are best eaten right away. I took some home, and they definitely lost a little magic in transit. Would I wait in line again? Probably. Was it worth it? Yeah. Was I doing cartwheels? Not quite, but I'd definitely give it another shot. But next time, I expect to be doing some major somersaults. Get the chicken curry bun!

This review is only for the pork buns. Don't buy these. Plenty of other options here but these are terrible. I bought four and forced myself to finish two, couldnt do the rest. Here's the lowdown on these buns: - The bread isn't soft or tasteful its just dough thats taking up space - The mishmash of pork and vegetables inside is vaguely supposed to be savory but the taste is like eating a veggie mush with a hint of pork somewhere, but you wouldn't be able to tell if you looked. - Kept warmed in their buns case so not cold at least, but somewhat soggy. - Priced at 3.75$ each which is ridiculously expensive for the portion and definitely the taste. Choose something else.

What happened!!!? So i used to visit Yamazaki every time I went to tamsui in Taiwan. The pastries would be delicious and tasty during a walk by the beach. I thought little tokyo would be the same. I bought the best seller, cheesecake loaf and it was dry i expected moisture and deliciousness. Cashier was friendly, service was great! Store is smaller and gets packed quickly.

It's a small shop, kinda cramped, but that's the vibe...like you're supposed to stand in line, order, get your stuff & go. It's fine. The customer service is friendly and efficient. I've decided this is my favorite place to get a Matcha Latte. It's creamy and sweet, not bitter at all...and perfect for someone like me who enjoys sweet drinks. I pair it with the Curry Bao--fluffy, pillowy with the yummy filling. Okay, it's pretty much the perfect little breakfast when I'm in this area. Find a bench in the plaza and enjoy the atmosphere of Little Tokyo LA. If you have more of a sweet tooth, I suggest the Red Bean Bao. That's delicious too.

They're located in the Japanese Village Plaza Mall. The venue is small with seating outdoors. I have to admit, I haven't tried everything. What I tend to go there for are the steam buns. They are fluffy buns of yummy goodness, flavorful and also very filling. I would suggest eating them right away. They are best when they're fluffy and hot. I eat them hot/warm/tepid but the best is when they're hot. The cost is about $3 & change. I've had their pastries but wasn't overly impressed. In my experience, there's only ever a line during the heart of lunch time, but after that you're good. The staff has always been nice and patient. The public lot associated with the plaza mall (on S. Central Ave) will validate your parking. As always, I end with, "will I return?" For those Steamed Buns? Yup, again and again!

I got the last yuzu cream bun (around 1pm on Saturday). No lines when I went. The bread itself was good although I don't think the yuzu complemented the bread or cream well. Probably just personal preference.

A nice place to grab a small bite in little Tokyo. Situated in the middle of the Japanese village, they got a variety of yummy steamed bun. Tried the curry steamed bun. Big and yummy. With less than $4 each, a great time for a quick bite!

This place typically has a loooong line, especially in the morning! I'd say it's worth the wait, I always get various items when doing a review to see what the quality is across the board. Across the board the items I tried were outstanding! I had a curry donut toooo but it didn't make it to the photoshoot. Definitely unique, and I highly recommend it.

fantastic bakery! i stopped by for the first time yesterday and tried the pork veggie bun and the dog tart--both were amazing. i can't believe i hadn't been here sooner! i enjoyed it so much that i came back today for two more buns. it was great to see other customers already there, especially since nothing else in the little tokyo shopping center opens that early. opening at 8 am is such a smart move--this place is definitely a gem.

Delicious bakery located right at the center of Japanese Village Plaza, perfect for a snack stop while hanging out in Little Tokyo. They make really good savory baked items, my favorites are the Curry Donut, Niku Man (Pork & Vegetables) Steamed Bun, the Hotdog Bread, and Garlic Toast.

A true Japanese bakery. I had a nikuman and it brought me right back to my childhood in Japan. nostalgia.. warm and big fillings. I almost went back to get a second one but stopped myself.

Good bakery items. The tres leches was perfect, I ended up going back the next day for another.

Little Tokyo essential food destination. It's a small joint serving out savory and sweet goodies well into the night. Also, open early for locals looking for sustenance. The move here is definitely the savory, meat filled steamed buns, served piping hot for $3.50 (2024). 2 of these are a meal in itself. 4 stars.

Purchased so much bread from this bakery and loved everything! In particular, the Yuzu Cream Pan is heavenly and lightly cistrus-y in the best way. All the staff were very nice, patient, and customer-centered. Hope to be back!

Best iced matcha in town. Also love the strawberry tart, baked cheese cake, and croquettes. Small shop with no seating indoors, more like a stop and go place. Service is great and pretty fast, even though there's usually a line out the door.

Niku Bun: filling very runny. Wasn't into that tbh. Bun itself was very soft, which I liked French toast: nice sweetness but pretty much no flavor. Soft bread with the glazed part slightly textured. Overall I wouldn't expect this to be amazing cus it's serving all the traffic in the shopping center. If you're hungry and down for a snack, okay cool but it's not meant to knock your socks off.

Visiting LA for a few weeks and I had the best experience here out of all the cafes I've tried out during my trip. I was assisted by the loveliest of baristas, Sybil (I hope I spelled that right!) despite it being a relatively busy Sunday afternoon. They not only were friendly immediately upon us entering, but they were loaded with helpful suggestions and made sure we got exactly what we were looking for. We got the jalapeño hot dog bun and an iced mocha, both of which were incredibly delicious. The iced mocha was well made (from one barista to another) and my partner devoured the hot dog in a matter of seconds because it was so good. Though tiny, it has an impeccable atmosphere, and I'd absolutely put this at the top of anyone's list who is looking for a real gem around the Little Tokyo area. A pleasant surprise as we wandered around.

Trust me on this and listen closely. Normally when you go to an ethnic eatery, you order the food that is associated with that particular culture and not the other stuff on the menu. Wrong. I know this is gonna sound wacky, but you need to get you a "taco-man." Taco Man is a delicious blend of the soft, heavenly boa bun bread but as a food-pocket-sandwich which encapsulates a Bulgogi-like blend of sautéed onions, beef and spices. It has a Mexican cuisine themed name, Korean flavors inside, and served in a type of bread reminiscent of Chinese dining - this is truly an international dish. Sold For a meager $3.50, get three for you and an additional three for the Mrs. The strawberry croissant is also delicious, flaky, and creamy all at the same time. I think I just love Japanese bakeries, plain and simple. I did also enjoy the Japanese chicken curry bow pocket as well. Also called a Curry man, but it takes second place to the taco man.

The steamed buns are good for snacking. Hotdog pastry was mid. There is a $10 minimum for credit card use.

Great variety of breads and pastries. Customer service is always great. They are happy to answer any questions and offer suggestions. It can be busy in there so it can get a bit crowded. Overall the space is not very big but the food is delicious. It's always clean inside and smells delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

I love coming to this bakery for their savory buns especially the steamed ones. They're soft and full of meaty goodness. My faves are pork and chicken. (Keep in mind on weekends they can run out of these.) However their baked foods are also very delicious. I recommended their bread and strawberry anything but mostly the cake and snow pie. They offer drinks too. I had the matcha latte. It was ok. I probably wouldn't order it again here.

Stumble on this bakery in Little Tokyo on my day off and craving for ice cream. We heard they have very good soft serve ice cream. This bakery is pretty small, so it seems they always have a line mostly because of limited space. They have the best japanese steamed buns for less than $4 each, good size, either savory or sweet. The dough is fluffy, moist even a few days later. There are a variety of filling, pork, beef, chicken, or mushroom. Tbe meat is minced,mixed with onion and veggie, a lot softer, and more juicy compared to Chinese Bao buns. There are many different types of cakes, pastries and breads. They are available for online orders and delivery via postmaid and door dash apps.

Every time I am in Little Tokyo, I have to stop by and get the Taco Man steamed bun! Service is usually nice and quick despite the long line! The taco man has a nice soft bun with delicious flavors for a quick bite. Love sitting on a bench nearby and enjoying the steamed bun, such a vibe.

I tried both the Curry Man and Niku Man and I'm not even the biggest curry fan but curry is the way to go! The Niku Man's bamboo flavor overpowered the taste of the actual meat. To be honest, the filling doesn't taste like the best I've ever had, but they don't skimp out on it for sure! Plus, the pillowy soft and warm bun make the Man an overall hit! I'm not sure I'd wait in a long line for this but I went in the middle of a Saturday and there was no line at all. Definitely worth the visit while you explore the shops around the area.

We were in Little Tokyo a few weeks back and stopped by for some dessert pastry following lunch. They had an amazing assortment of baked goods, but we settled on the Green Tea cake and Cream Puff with Yuko cream. Both were very tasty, not too sweet but meeting our need for a perfect after meal dessert. Prices were very reasonable and the service was very good. You can't miss this if traveling thru the main area of Little Tokyo and highly recommend a try

Ordered a jalapeño pastry, got an old one. Staff gave me a hard time about giving me the one I requested/paid for and said they don't touch the "restock" pastries. Don't recommend coming here staff is very inconsiderate giving that they charge but don't offer quality service. Not coming back. Size was about half the size of my hand, where the fresh ones were fluffy and fresh.

It was easy to order and the baked goods were awesome. The chocolate chip melon pan was exceptional.

I went here to get a mini dog ($3.75) for a coworker as a gift and the niku man (pork & veggie) steamed bun ($3.50) for myself. The mini dog is a fruit tart with whipped cream shaped to look like a dog. It's very cute, and I've seen it gifted to someone else at my workplace. The steamed bun tasted fine, but I think I would want to get the curry man (chicken & veggie) steamed bun next time. The steamed bun tasted a little cold after I got back to work to eat it, and I didn't really enjoy the flavoring. However, the bakery has a lot of other pastries that look appetizing if you'd rather not get a steamed bun. Ordering here is easy and quick if you're on the go.

Was sitting on a bench near by and kept seeing a solid line form out the door here and so my brother went inside to get us some buns. I tried the pizza one & I really liked it. My husband got the taco one & he said it was good as well. I dont remember which one my brother got but he said it was just okay. The store is stacked with goodies and like i said, the lines were consistent and they seemed very nice and patient with everyone.

Right in the heart of Little Tokyo. They were crowded around 6:45pm on a Wednesday in July, but with three registers, things moved quickly. Unfortunately I was traveling the next day and didn't get to eat things fresh, so my review isn't the most objective! $9.50 total for 3 desserts. * Matcha Mochi Mochi ball ($2.25) I can't fairly rate this - I ate this the next day and it was already very hard! I'll have to eat it fresh next time. * Cube Croissant ($3) - 3.5 stars I ate this a day later and while the bread was a little stale, the cream filling was great.

HOJICHA LATTE ICED (: so delicious Their steamed buns are also so so good! Their dough is soft and silky great recipe. There's always a line at some point for their steamed buns! I've been a local so long and never had their buns I'm hooked! Very friendly staff totally non pretentious and very patient staff. I love this bakery ^_^
