"Combine an antiques fair with a pool hall and you have Yancy’s. Granted, there isn’t a pool table in sight at this Inner Sunset sports bar (there should be), but there are several well-lit dart lanes and lots of TVs. Some bags of chips in the corner are the only source of food, but at least the drinks are cheap and strong, and the stained glass lamps are pretty. Just ignore the faded carpet and dust everywhere—this place might make you feel like an antique that needs refurbishing after. It's as old as it feels, after all." - lani conway, julia chen 1

"Yancy’s is a local neighborhood hangout and a gathering spot for big groups of college students, and it’s easy to see why. There are darts for when a little competition is needed, popcorn for when folks get hungry — along with a lenient outside food policy — and, of course, plenty of TVs to watch a game. Most likely you’ll come in to watch sports, but you’ll stay for the local vibes." - Dianne de Guzman, Paolo Bicchieri

"For those who prefer the danger of something sharp in their hand while drinking — yes, somehow axe-throwing bars are still a thing — perhaps a game of darts might sound enticing. Inner Sunset favorite Yancy’s has plenty of lanes to get throw-y at, putting prestige at your fingertips with your (inevitable?) bullseye. There are also TVs for watching sports, and the friendly establishment is kind enough to allow outside food, in case you’re feeling peckish." - Dianne de Guzman

Great old place. I just came back from San Francisco where Yancy's is located and walking in felt like coming home. This was the place I turned 21 and now 43 years later find myself standing at the bar. Yes, it looks a little worn like a favorite old sweater and totally comfortable. The only thing missing was the Pac Man machine in the back by the big screen. I love this part of San Francisco. A nice selection of restaurants little shops and just character and charm. If you are in San Francisco and want to check out an old neighborhood bar going to Yancy's won't disappoint you.

Google
Great dive bar with friendly bartenders and a good selection of draft beers and spirits. Plenty of room for groups to gather. Dart boards, multiple TV's, and groovy tunes! Fun spot to have some drinks for happy hour or after dinner in the neighborhood.

Google
Seems very nice local hole in the wall. They have 3 dart boards. Fills up for sports games. Server was very nice. They have 29 beers on tap. No food but some small snacks. Love the tall ceilings. Very spacious in here the mirrors on the walls make it more spacious. Nice open windows in front. Over all nice place they need beer flights and they need food menu though. Very relaxing place. Great place to have meetings in the evening. Can cater for lots of people. Happy Hour from 2 to 7. 1$ off draft beers 1$ off well drinks. Great place to go.

Yancy's is opened again! -$1 off drinks before 7pm. Bartender(s) are super cool and know their drinks. We used to come here about once a month back in the early 2000's. Not much as changed. Yancy's is still a great place to grab a drink with friendly staff and clientele.

Google
Very rude short woman bartender who was very aggressive in taking our IDs. She had zero patience even though it was a slow Saturday night and we were taking our time in figuring out an order for our group. I don’t know if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed but it seems like based on the reviews I’ve seen on here this is a typical experience. Avoid this bar.

Google
I love this place. Laura is a great bartender. Fantastic neighborhood spot. They show all of the sports, have pool tables, darts & plenty of places to sit down with friends. The bartenders pay attention to the regulars. The prices are good & the ambiance is comfortable! I've been in several times but not when Laura was behind the bar. I had my kids in my SUV, picking them up from a long day & ordering food from La Fonda & Pasquale's. I went in to use the bathroom. She said, "Hello!" She didn't know me for in being a regular as, I've never had a pint at the bar when he was working. She mentioned kindly, "The restrooms are for customer's only." I apologized. I love that she paid attention as, she didn't know me from a hole in the ground. I can only imagine how many stragglers come in, only to use the toilet or wreck havock. I'm looking forward to coming in on her shift & ordering from her. It's a gem of a place with an excellent staff. Good to have a neighborhood gem with staff that pay attention.

Google
This is a busy & happening place for a bar. Spacious & has cute light fixtures. Alcohol is good but I did not see cocktails on the menu. They have a cute scene for games like darts.

Sandra Koch

Google
We stopped in a few time's for drinks. Both bartenders were very kind and welcoming! It is a relaxing atmosphere. When we come back to San Francisco we will definitely stop by again.

Yelp
First time here. Great location and nice open window. And they like dogs!! Good music too.

Yelp
Pros: The bartender was really cool and personable. The space is huge and has the atmosphere of a speakeasy. It's in what appears to be a relatively safe neighborhood and there are other bars close by if bar hopping is on your agenda. They do have a variety of beer and I think most people can find something they like. Cons: People mention darts in a lot of reviews. As a league player from another state, when I travel I want to find a place to sling the ole arrows and this place is kind of a consolation prize in that regard. The right board was demolished and not usable as a regulation board. The middle board was off center and not movable. The board on the left was the closest thing to regulation but all in all, these boards need to be replaced. It costs $35 for a basic Unicorn board and $60-$100 for higher priced Unicorn or Winmau boards. And they last a LONG time if you don't leave darts sticking in them for days at a time (and rotate them). Lastly, for me, IPA selection is important and they only had one decent one from what I could tell. See if you can get some Pliny, Elysian Space Dust or even some Stone/Ballast Point IPA's... So yeah, darts doesn't factor in for most people, but it did for me, as did the paltry IPA selection.

Yelp
Bartender was extremely aggressive in trying to get our ids and while we were thinking about our orders. She was rude and unprofessional very angry before she had even taken our order. Would not recommend this place if service is something that matters to you.

Bill S.

Yelp
My friend would like a hot brandy. Sorry we don't have any brandy. OK my friend would like an Irish coffee instead. Sorry we don't have any coffee. OK she'll have a gin and tonic and I'll have a jack Daniels on the rocks. It'll be $23. Won't be back there.

Yelp
What do I say about Yancy's in 2023? Last time I was here was 2010 Giants playoff run. Before that was here weekly when George & The Wonders played. Fond memories. But it's not in my hood and it never comes up to meet at amongst the homies. Wonder why none of the homies come here anymore? 2023, the place is dark and empty on a Saturday evening. Strange. But I don't necessarily mind dark and empty. Cool. Sat down and ordered drinks. Ordered more drinks. Bill comes and looks high enough for me to take a look at. I breaks out my abacus. WTH? Did I teleport to Fisherman's Wharf tourist trap? This is still a local place to catch a Giants game on Irving right? Oh drinks on the rocks or neat are $1 surcharge per drink. Rocks. Neat. Surcharge. Club Soda is $2. Club. Soda. A bar. Neat and rocks surcharge. Do they pad the bill with an extra round, seemed like it but I can't say for sure. Didn't know I had to watch my tab like that here. Now I didn't go to Wharton but THIS Mr. Yancy is why your bar is empty on a Saturday night. Even drunks, degenerates, and lushes know what their bill should look like. Won't be back. Too many local places that don't treat drinkers like stumbly conventioneers on expense accounts or lost tourists who got on the J from downtown by mistake. Zero stars gets one star only for the memories. RIP George & The Wonders. RIP this bar.

Yelp
Yancy Saloon is one of my favorite bars I go to in SF with my friends to drink watch the games and kick it by myself for my time alone. The drinks here are so good and the darts game are so fun to play here. And did y'all know they have a popcorn machine that makes you popcorn to serve you instead you go out to get food to take it here to eat. That's all I gotta say about this bar. It's a good Bar to kick it if you're visiting SF come check out the Saloon you make like it here.

Honest Charley B.

Yelp
Love Yancy's! Amazing bartenders, great jukebox, friendly patrons, and love that you can bring outside food. Only a few things keep me from leaving a "5 star." The left two dart boards need to be replaced, as they've been so worn down that thrown darts often bounce off the boards. It'd be awesome if some of the tables were taken out and a pool table was added. I'd also like to see a return of the popcorn machine.

Yelp
The lady bartender, about 5'4 with long brown hair and eyeliner, was so rude to me and my friends. She was trying to kick us out because why? We don't know actually. She approached us very aggressively for IDs and then said if we wanted to sit we had to order drinks and, "this isn't a Starbucks," as if we were stupid. Very condescending and mean. Such a shame because the bar seemed so chill and fun. We just wanted to have a good time and it was ruined by her trying to kick us out, even when we were sitting far away. Did not order anything else except a beer because we weren't given the opportunity to think about or see the menu for food or drinks.

Maia B.

Yelp
There was a bartender in February on Friday night of the 16th 2024 who called me and my friends over to check our ids very loudly (we're all of age) and proceeds to tell us this isn't a "Starbucks" and we can't just be in there as if we were loitering around even though we only came in a second ago. It was very strange and I think she doesn't really like women? It's hard to imagine that she would pull over a group of 25 year old men to make them buy a drink. We asked to play darts and she said "we don't charge for darts." I've never had this kind of experience anywhere especially not a bar which I thought was an open space for anyone over the age of 21. We made no noise she really just wanted us out. When our friend ordered a drink we went to sit down and she rushed her to finish it by waving at us from across the bar to leave. It was genuinely crazy she didn't treat anyone else like this. Zero stars if that was possible.

Yelp
Atmosphere had all the vibes. Great drink selection and good ole darts to spend your time. Great service.

lacey p.

Yelp
Love this local spot. Great jukebox. Great darts. Well priced drinks. Chill vibes. Just go

Stephen P.

Yelp
Lol I checked my credit card today and the scumbag drugged out bartender overcharged it. Left himself a bigger tip than what I agreed. I hope the extra bucks was worth it. Don't come here the opposite of an honest establishment

Kyle P.

Yelp
I love yancy's y'all. I looked it up recently randomly and I seen they were open still. I thought the pandemic took em away. I'm glad I was wrong. The drinks are fair priced. The space is huge. Mike is a working class hero god. They got the league pass during hoop season. It's an all purpose bar. I've been there to drink and work. I've been there to kick it. I've been there to feel better. It's been a while but I hope y'all can appreciate the miracle this place is.

Megan G.

Yelp
Great place for a casual beer. Fairly quiet and peaceful. Pretty good selection of beers on tap- about 15. Several TVs and a huge screen in the back that centers over a huge table. It's a great area to catch a game with friends and they even let you bring in your own food (since they don't serve their own- only downside). There are 3 dart boards in the back corner and lot of beautiful glassware light fixtures hanging from the ceiling which top off a nicely presented bar.

Dipesh G.

Yelp
Pros - Great beer selection - Lots of TV's for sports - They take credit cards - Darts in the back of the bar - Food can be brought in - The bartenders are pretty friendly Cons - The bathrooms could be a little nicer

Elena N.

Yelp
3.5 STARS We were looking for a decent sized bar to go to last Saturday since we had a group of about 10 people. We were already in Outer Sunset, so one of my girlfriends suggested Yancy's. I'd never been, but my gf said that it's a good size and we could play darts, etc. We got here last Saturday, May 14th around 8:15pm. It was pretty busy when we got here. We managed to find a small table off to the side that realistically fit about four people. We managed to fit about 6 people at the table since we all got there at different times. Shortly after we started in on our drinks, a row of tables opened up, so we snagged them. This was much better and way roomier. We pushed the tables together to make a giant long table. I was pretty much done drinking by the time we got here, so I just got a Jameson on the rocks and a Blue Moon. Nursed it for the two of hours we were there. We never got the chance to play darts as it always seemed busy and we never signed up. Might be fun to do next time on a chill day. Nice neighborhood bar.

Wesley S.

Yelp
Love to come here to get a good beer. They always have Barebottle on tap which is almost always a delicious hazy IPA. If thats not your kind of beer, there's like 20 more to choose from. There is also wine and hard alcohol here. Lots of TV's everywhere with all kinds of live sports channels playing. Great place to come to watch a game. No food served here, but you're welcome to bring in food from other places to eat here! There are 3 dart boards near the back to play with. Lots of tables and seating. Good for having a birthday gathering and hanging out.

Winnie T.

Yelp
Very casual bar with lots of TVs. Came here while we waited for our tables for a restaurant nearby. It was a 2 hour wait, I'm so glad we were able to catch the basketball game while sipping on beer and stay in for the warmth. You order from the bar and choose an open spot. They have 3 darts in the back, it seems fun but they were all occupied.

Elaine N.

Yelp
I went here with 11 people after stuffing ourselves with pizza at a nearby restaurant. We came here around 11:45pm and they still had plenty of seats for my large group. They were quickly able to accommodate us, asked our IDs, and what drinks we wanted. I got some type of alcoholic apple cider (forgot the name since my friend ordered it for me). My drink was very good and was also my first time trying hard apple cider. I also sampled one of my friend's whiskey sours drink from the bar counter which I liked more than my hard cider. This bar also has darts for you and your group to play with, while having some type of sports show to watch on TV. We left the bar around 1:45am only because they were about to close. I'd recommend this place because it's a fun bar with activities.

Cary L.

Yelp
This is our guys' "go-to" place for sports events. It bring together all the locals for the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc... I grew up near here and its been THE place to be. If you are coming to view a sports event, be prepared to get there early or have someone stake out an area to sit down. Because if the game is big enough, you will be standing for the entire game!!! And that's not necessarily bad. I've don't many times but it can be annoying. Sitting down is more comfortable but sometimes that too is annoying because now in your fixed position, another standing person will conveniently block your line of sight of the TVs. Whatever the case may be the drinks are relatively cheap!!! And now they take credit cars!!! In the past it was all cash... Come! Enjoy! Drink! Watch! ...or just play darts.

Christian M.

Yelp
I have been coming to this spot for 10 years, on and off. The staff has always been friendly and the drinks are pretty stiff. They have a decent selection of beers and a large sort of liquor. Recently within the last couple months, they renovated the darts area. They have 3 new boards and it looks brand spankin' new. They have a jukebox with tons of music, if you like that. However, I usually come to this spot to grab a few drinks and play a quick game of darts, to start an evening off right.

Chris S.

Yelp
This is definitely a classic sort of place. There's no hip new gimmick, no fancy dressing on spirits. What they do have is a large (and solid) draft selection, a neat atmosphere, reasonable prices, and little fanfare. We happened by on a mid Saturday afternoon, and the atmosphere was just right - a few people around so that it didn't feel empty, but quiet enough you could happily carry on a conversation, and you didn't have to wait for the bartender. The bartender was also nice enough to let our friends play some music while we relaxed. There's ample seating, too, which was a wonderful attribute for our group. I got a heretic chocolate hazelnut porter and a Wyder's Pear Cider, both of which were delicious. $14 for two pints ain't bad, either. I didn't get any cocktails but I did notice a pretty decent happy hour menu and a wide variety of different types of spirits. Don't forget to peek at the old secondary bar on your way out, where they have several vintage cash registers ;)

Lilian L.

Yelp
Been here twice. 1st time: I like their long island teas & whiskey sours. 2nd time: I got hornitos tequila chilled. I learned I don't like tequila so much though even if I'm on a happy buzz. The taste ain't for me.. but I had tequila at The Little Shamrock and you're not supposed to mix.. and I had volunteering the next day.. so couldn't switch to my go-to whiskey drinks. - I don't have much to say, it's one of my favorite bars. It's actually one of my cousin's favorite as well. The owner, Allen is super cool. I got to bring in pasta from down the street to eat in here this past Friday night. - It's not a crazy loud bar or anything, it's a chill bar. It's nice.

Christine L.

Yelp
Free popcorn with your beer!! They have a dart board area, tv's, and great music. I definitely wouldn't go on a date here since it does smell a bit musty and the ambience is dark, but if you're just looking for a casual place to grab some beers with friends you should give Yancy's a shot!

Eric M.

Yelp
Great bar. It's fairly big and the crowd was very friendly. The music was awesome. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed playing darts. The establishment itself was very clean and comfortable. They set up a great scene for my friends and I to remember for a long time.

Mindy Y.

Yelp
EVENT: tryna get turnt tonight - JK, not really! It's such a great little place to have a chill drink with friends and catch up! DRINKS: If you're beer loving - there's a good selection of beers! IPA my favs - I think I tried 3 different ones in one night. DARTS: Yes! Darts! My favorite!!! Give your driver license to the bar tender, they will give you 4 darts and you share and take turns. Don't forget to grab it back at the end of the night! **OVERALL: great place for a chill night of darts and drinks!!!

AnnaMaria C.

Yelp
Before last night, the last time I came here was the night before lockdown started in March of 2020, and since I used to work up the street I had been coming in since... 2010? After things reopened I tried to come by a few times after picking up pizza but it was always closed. Yesterday I came by at 4 and they were closed, but someone outside said they were going to open at 5, so I went to Pasquale's for a bit then came back to watch the game. They were out of Jameson and the bartender told me Powers is the same thing, which it is not. Lol. Also, no Sierra Nevada. And I was told Alan doesn't bartend anymore. Womp womp. It's a great spot but the vibe is different than it was and I'm sad. I do want to note that the new bar top looks nice! 5 stars for the memories.

Michael N.

Yelp
My go-to in Inner Sunset after a long day of work. Sometimes you just need a drink, and often times you may be too lazy to change and wear your nicest clothing. Yancy's is the perfect place for you to crash at after work, grab a fairly priced drink, and chill at a table under some dim lights. Lots of people watch sports here, and it gets pretty crowded during big games (i.e. Warriors playoffs)! Other times, you can find people relaxing, playing darts, eating pizza, etc. When you come, don't expect anything amazing - you are safe with expecting a solid/relaxing time.

Bel O.

Yelp
He bar is right off of Irving. I've been here many times to watch a bunch of games. It's a great spot with great company. Food from outside the bar is allowed. If you're a regular, they accept cards now! Awesome news! They also offer free wifi! There are dart boards to keep you busy too.During the day, I sometimes see folks studying or on their laptops. If you're looking for a place that's fun, chill and not too fancy, this ur best deal. I have nothing but great experiences here until tonight... I'm changing my rating from a 4 star to. 3 star. Only because they asked my friend for his I.d. He's clearly over 21 (way over), but they asked him to leave. They said it was "bad for business" to have ppl in the bar who are NOT drinking. So he offered to buy everyone else at our table a drink to stay at the bar. Which I thought was really odd and unfair since we had a large party of more than 10 people. But I understand business is business. I would've given this place a 4-Starr, but that situation happened AND...their atm machine ate my other friend's card. But other than that, this place is pretty cool.

Kl L.

Yelp
Fantastic hidden gem of a bar with tons of room and outstanding people. I broke out sweating having a blast on the dart boards ... I think I just need to lose weight ...

Yifang N.

Yelp
Came by one rainy afternoon to watch a Warriors vs. Lakers game with some friends. Interior was warm and cozy, but not particularly packed, considering it was a Saturday night. Location is super convenient--right near the Irving & 9th stop on the N-Judah line, if you're taking public transportation. (Note that they don't have food, just chips, so bring your own pizza--and even games, like we did!) Lots of TVs for sports and non-sports viewing, and some dartboards to play, if you don't feel like watching TV. Good place for a group to just sit around and chat and hang out.

Jessica T.

Yelp
Yancy's is a decent spot to get some work done if you want to pair internet with a drink. The space is huge and they have a multitude of TVs if you're hoping to catch a specific type of sports game as well. That being said - I've come to discover that Yancy's is not my go-to hangout. I stopped on by Yancy's this Sunday to watch the Warriors game. The place (as I'm sure most bars were due to the Warriors game) - was busy. I found a seat at the bar. The bartender asked if I wanted a drink. I asked if I could buy water - since I didn't drink. He said that they didn't serve bottled water and that there was a 2 drink minimum to sit at the bar. And so - I headed on over to Little Shamrock - where they proudly hang the Welsh flag, where they have free water in a self serve section, where there is a multitude of low-key warm faces, where there is plenty of sitting space, and where there is no two drink minimum to sit at/or around the bar. Trust.

Aaron Y.

Yelp
A neighborhood classic! One of my favorite places to watch any sporting event since they have so many TVs and a lot of seats all over the place! They don't employ too many waitresses, but the couple they have during big game days (such as WARRIORS CHAMPIONSHIP RUNS!) do a great job of making rounds. Guess what, they also now take credit card! For the longest time, they were cash only. That was the only drawback. Problem solved! You're also allowed to get food from surrounding places and eat inside Yancy's. They don't serve any food, so it's awesome you can pick up some Pizza from the corner or garlic noodles down the block. It's not fancy inside, but it's not called "Fancy's". There's little air flow in the back, so on crowded game days, it can get quite sweaty back there. On other days, it's fun to come and play darts (there are 3 boards in the back). Drinks are priced pretty nicely and they're friendly here. If you're a douche, you don't have to come in. Feel free to let the locals enjoy their spot!

Enoch K.

Yelp
Great place, Bring your own pizza! No pool table or darts, so that's a giant bummer since it's quite spacious. Drinks are weak, but service is good, and the big open area and ability to bring in food is pretty cool. Good bet for Inner Sunset with groups. Needs narcotics dealers like at 20th and Irving locations.

David D.

Yelp
It's a nice bright bar, with a skylight and lots of plants, OG video games in the back. The second room was full of people wearing some kind of uniform, they were all wearing the same T-shirt ... OH YEAH! It was about 100 Yelpers celebrating after the Bay to Breakers. Despite the pandemonium and the clamoring for pizza, the waitress was able to track me down and serve me a $3 Miller Light. Later she even found me and asked me if I wanted another. Considering the traffic in here, that was quite a feat. Some of these people were really, really drunk. That's one reason why I love them.

Valeria R.

Yelp
First star: As soon as I walked into Yancy's, I felt like I was in one of my favorite "blue-collar" bars in Chicago. Not even the tiniest whiff of pretense. I immediately felt at home. Second star: The layout of the room is such that, even at its most crowded, you don't feel claustrophobic. Third star: Even though I ordered my first drinks (yes, plural...I'll explain later) after 7 p.m., the bartender winked and said "you just got the last happy hour price". I fell in love on the spot. Fourth star: Our waitress was supremely patient and gracious with our raucous group. Fifth star: My typical drink order is a double shot of good tequila with a Mexican beer back. I had ordered my first two sets at the bar; toward the end of the evening I ordered my third set from the waitress, but with a single shot. Even though the bartender couldn't see who had ordered because of the crowd, he recognized the combination and sent the waitress back to be sure I wanted a single and not a double. Really? With all the customers he was juggling he remembered that? I'm both relieved and dismayed that Yancy's is so far from home!

Kathleen W.

Yelp
This was the perfect place for a bunch of dirty, rambunctious, drunk Yelpers to meet. The ones that took 3 hours to walk 3 miles. But 3 liters of margarita and 2 liters of vodka + electrolytes later, this is where we settled down to stuff our face with hot delicious pizza. They score high for hosting us, for being quick on the drink and for having clean bathrooms. Minus a point for no pitchers and not taking credit cards. If I were one those naked runners, where would I have been able to hide a wade of cash? I'd also just walked 3 miles with a meter of alcohol strapped to my back, it seemed such a downgrade to have to drink out of a pint glass.

Stephy L.

Yelp
Well Hello Yancy's! It's a funny thing how we didn't meet each other earlier! I was introduced to this wonderful spot by a couple of my great friends, and now i am absolutely in love! What does Yancy's have to offer? First off... * Location is wonderful. Located on Irving at 9th Ave I believe. Parking is never a problem. Everytime we come here, we find parking right away. * Walk in and suit yourself. Feel free to find a table or seats at the bar. You're on your own here. Make yourself comfortable like home! * Very soon, a host will come and greet you, check IDs, and take your order. The girls are friendly and helpful. * Sip on your drinks while you enjoy complimentary popcorn! Oh the popcorn is much needed! Other things you should know.. - They have flat screen TVs all around! - Dart room with 3 dart boards and tables are towards the back! - Draft beers are all $5! My snakebite (Guinness and cider was also $5) - you get your order, you pay right away at the table. Whats better than NOT having to get out of your seat and to wait in line and pay for your drink at the bar?! - Shots are $5-8 ( according to the boyfriend) Depends on what you get! - Cocktails are delicious and strong here. Not watered down crap. Overall, Yancy's is one of those places where you will go and enjoy a drink..or a few and not need to feel stuffed and cramped. Definitely a place for just you and your boyfriend, or with a group of friends looking for a chill night out.

Yelp
Everytime I go here it is either sparsely crowded (any weeknight), or very crowded (any weekend night), no in-between. Besides barstools, there are plenty of chairs, tables, benches and even a sofa. It's a fun place since it's a mixture of divy bar and sports bar, with a youngish Gen-X and Gen-Y crowd from nearby SFSU, USF and probably some of CCSF. And due to the vicinity to UCSF, there seem to be more grad students than undergrads? And you'll even hear people - who would never karaoke - sing along at times to whatever happens to be playing on the jukebox. Either way, it's a bar for fun drinking, not drunk drinking. For this Wednesday at least, happy hour had $1-off beers on tap (e.g., $5 for a pint of Bass Ale) and $3 well drinks. It was a somewhat good evening since the Giants won, the A's won, but the MLS All-Stars lost to the EPL's Everton in penalties - but it was due to the top-notch play of US soccer Men's National Team's starting goalkeeper Tim Howard (go Timmay!).

Yelp
This place is super chill and has become one of my favorite spots in SF. When I'm in a low key mood, Yancy's is the place I wanna be. I've noticed that as I've progressed into my mid-20's, I appreciate chill nights at places like Yancy's more than crazy nights at the club. Those times are still fun in moderation, but I'll probably opt for a night here more often than not. I must be getting old! Atmosphere here is really casual and relaxed. Lots of plants hanging from the ceiling, along with a bunch of colorful, antique lamps of varying shapes and sizes. There are also darts in the back and lots of TVs...so it's a good place to watch games too. Drinks are cheap! Only about $7 for strong stuff like AMFs and Long Islands. Granted they do use cheap alcohol...but if your aim is to get messed up, Yancy's will allow you to do it on a budget! I usually opt for a Pear Cider or Hefeweizen when I come here and those are only about $5/drink. Very wallet friendly! And what's more?! There's free popcorn! Can't go wrong w/that =] All in all, Yancy's has excelled in all fronts. Good prices, good atmosphere, and just an all around good place to chill with good friends. 5 stars!

Yelp
Great bar in a great neighborhood. I'm a simple man. I require a bar to have three things 1 - cheap beer 2 - large tvs that have basketball / football / soccer on 3 - man food (or the ability to bring in your own food I plopped down after bay to breakers with a ton of yelpers and I watched the Cavs v Celtics game. I ordered some drinks and brought in some mexican from La Fonda next door and nobody said anything. It's a large space and I would definitely go back if I were in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Yancy's rarely impresses me - but I do come back a lot because it's one of those 'safety' places you go when you don't have anywhere else to go to. It's a neighborhood establishment, a place for UCSF students and staff to go hang out after work to grab a beer and unwind. It's the kind of place you show up in your sweatshirt and jeans and feel like no one is judging you. I've carried my backpack in here after classes and no one has a problem or says anything. CASH ONLY. Cheap drinks $5-$7. The only food they have is free popcorn, which I see once in awhile.

Yelp
Love it here for its chill atmosphere. A popular spot among Sunset kids and UCSF kids... so, I come here quite often for school functions or if my friends from out of town come visit...we go to Yancy's! Drinks are strong and cheap. AMFs and Long Islands here taste like pure, cheap alcohol, so having a few too many may get you in some trouble. They have a fine selection of beers and a few ciders, which is to be expected of an Irish pub/bar! The atmosphere of Yancy's is really cutesy with all the decorations on the walls. Yancy's uses this ancient cash register probably from the early 1900's which I thought was pretty cool since it gave the whole bar an old West feel. Sadly, they do not accept credit card, so this is why they lose one star. What other things do I love about Yancy's? The many activities you can do! There's darts and cards, play with your buddies, watch sports...and there's POPCORN! Coming into Yancy's you can smell the sweet smell of melting butter... and it's free. Yancy's NEVER charges a cover, which is great for everybody!

Yelp
There are so many things to say about Yancy's but I'll stick to the basics - this place is my go to spot to watch sporting events, especially the Warriors, Giants and 49ers (ehh). It has a neighborhood-bar vibe and they decorate for the holidays (Halloween was insane!) which contributes further to it's presence in the community. On nice days the windows in the front are open which creates an inviting feeling. The darts in the back come in handy on date night or with larger groups and the ability to bring in outside food really cinches this place as the go-to spot for a drink in the Inner Sunset. Highly recommend Yancy's if you're looking for a casual but fun place to grab a drink.

Yelp
Unfortunately my first review ever is a bad one. This happened when FIFA was going on. My friends (group of about 20-25) and I have literally dropped thousands of dollars at this place. We've been coming here for many years and some of the staff recognize us to the point where they know our drink orders. But the bartender, the bald bulky guy, is such a jerk. We were watching a rerun of the soccer game just like everyone else and the bartender comes up and changes it to Giants vs. Red Sox game. We called ahead to see if the soccer game was going to be on the big screen so we were shocked. He changed it back when we made a fuss. Giants scored 3 in the first inning so he came back and changed the channel. We moved and were a little upset and talked trash to the people next to us who were also watching the soccer game. Okay, so did say the bartender was an "a-hole" but it wasn't to his face and it wasn't loud so I suspect he was watching us because all of sudden he was in my friends' face telling him to "f-off" and that he was the "a-hole". My friend, he's the nicest guy in the world and it's hard to get mad at him with his boyish charm. What this guy did is akin to kicking a puppy. I wanted to dump my drink on the floor and walk out but I actually like everyone else that works there. I don't know if this guy is the manager or owns the place but it's a wonder why he isn't gone by now. So the stand off begins. Until that guy leaves we're not going back.

Yelp
I can bring in my own pizza from Pasquale's? That itself deserved some well earned stars! Drink prices are average, ranging about $6 for a standard mixed drink and no more than that for a beer. It's a comfortable local bar with a diverse crowd. There are flat screens lining the walls, an area to play darts, a couple of old school arcade games like pacman, and tables everywhere. I always heard they provide free popcorn but i didn't get any :( Cashhhh only!

Yelp
Yancy's is a kiddie bar. I almost wanna say it's a teeny bopper bar. It's the bar where most first time drinkers lose their alcohol virginity and idealism. On weekdays between noon and 7pm, it's a great place to study as it's empty, quiet, and void of distraction. Because the service is slower than evolution, it's the perfect place to be if you do not want to be bothered by a waitress who really couldn't care less if you wanted service. This is an example of where bad service can actually be benefiical to one's education. There's a dartboard and they have dice available. The interior slightly stairs up to a seating area with a few couches and tables. Sometimes, George and the Wonders perform reggae music. Not sure if they still come around. It's usually a good first bar to meet at or last bar to go to when the night's over. If you are a college student, you will love this bar and most probably will give it 5 stars. I've never had a meaningful conversation here. Well, I remember once many years ago someone was trying to convince me that the Rocky Horror Picture Show was the greatest movie of all time. It didn't help my hangover pondering that the next morning.

Yelp
it was great to finally come in! I grew up in this neighborhood, so i saw this place all the time. I went here last night with a few of my cousins to get an irish car bomb (never had one before). I really liked it! I like baileys=] My cousin treated his brother and I and paid about $22. The waiter was nice. The atmosphere seemed popping. The people were ok-- some outlaws here and there. In example this straight up drunkkkk guy sat at our table and didn't say a word. 5 minutes later he stood up and stumbled out the door. Finally! I really felt like he was going to throw up all over me. Anyways, Yancy's was great! There were a bunch of college students--very diverse crowd by the way. The decor was cool with a bunch of portraits. Another thing I noticed were the endless boxes of Pasquali's pizza-- down the block from yancy's-- at the bar, tables, and counters. It seems like that's the thing to do--grab a whole pizza from pasquali's and a drink from yancy's. Maybe i shall do that next time! I'm pretty happy that I finally went to this place! I intend to go again in the future!
