Yanni’s Coffee - Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"Yanni’s is known for two things: cookies and coffee. The coffee’s made with beans from Brooklyn-based microroastery Sey, and the cookies are hand-shaped into appealing brown lumps. Try the white chocolate oatmeal one, or go for the chocolate chip version that’s littered with walnuts. There isn’t much room inside, but if you need somewhere to camp out for a minute, you can always grab a stool near the windows up front." - Bryan Kim

"A jewel-box cafe serving SEY coffee and warm homemade cookies — grab a cortado and a chocolate chip cookie with walnut; there’s absolutely nothing more you could ask for from a coffee shop." - Coolstuff Team

I’ve gotten into the habit of stopping by Yanni’s Coffee during my lunch breaks, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a charming, cozy vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. The staff is super sweet and always brings great energy. The coffee? Solid. But the real star for me is their chocolate chip walnut cookie—easily one of the best I’ve ever had. And honestly, discovering this right before summer? Not great timing! Haha.

Google
This was a really nice discovery in NYC! It’s not a huge place but it’s coffee it’s simply amazing. It was a warm day so I had an iced latte and it didn’t disappoint. They also have some nice cookies and pastries you cannot resist. Highly recommend it

Google
My review is based soley off of their white chocolate oatmeal cookie. I honestly think it's the best cookie I've had!! A little pricey at $5 but it was really that good

rossifumifan1

Google
The best chocolate chip cookies in town!! They come with or without walnuts! The cookies are priced fairly. It's worth the money and time to get into this small shop. Give yourself a treat that won't disappoint. *UPDATE* NOVEMBER 23RD 2023 * The excellence continues at Yanni's Coffee. Busy, dog friendly, and outstanding staff. The only change is a slight price hike on the cookies. With this horrible economy we are all living in, it's to be expected. What more could you ask for. Just go and support this great little shop. They continue to earn it by providing quality coffee and those fabulous cookies we can't do without every time we visit New York. A must.

Google
I would say, their coffee bean are one of the best in nyc, just so good. And the cookie is a plus point, homemade and smells amazing. remember to eat it when it’s hot.

Google
Unfortunately, I didn’t find any trace of espresso in my latte—just warm milk with a foam. It tasted more like steamed milk than a proper coffee drink, which was really disappointing. For a place that serves espresso-based drinks, I expected better quality and balance. Hopefully, this was just an off day, but I wouldn’t rush back based on this experience alone.

Google
A cute and tiny coffee place with decent but expensive lattes and cookies. My matcha latte felt a bit watered down. The ambiance was clean and minimalist, the service was quick, lot of people come to work with their laptops so i guess the wifi is good.

yuyu

Google
Their matcha latte was the best out of all the cafes I’ve been to in NYC! Plus the service and atmosphere was AMAZING. 8am and the shop was already lively, baristas were extremely nice and welcoming. 10/10 would go back :)

Yelp
favorite coffee I've found in Manhattan, espresso is great, cortado was awesome, prices are on the high end but worth it. The oatmeal white chocolate cookie was also great, soft texture, not too sweet, very nice with coffee shop is pretty small, some counter seating around the edges but I wouldn't plan to stay all that long (they do offer wifi)

Yelp
We stopped in Yanni's on the way to the High Line for a coffee to go. I asked if I could get an iced flat white, since I was in an espresso mood and they were able to do it for me. I love that the barista confirmed that it's basically just an iced latte with less milk. Why yes, that's exactly what I wanted! Coffee was solid and I appreciated that oat milk add-on was just 50 cents. I'm very used to the $1-$2 upcharge at most other places.

Yelp
Cute Coffee Shop find here in the WS. Everyone was kind and patient with us, and the inside was small, light, and clean. We got iced vanilla lattes which I tasted it to be more on the sweeter side, and their butter croissants. The coffee itself was smooth and tasty and their croissants omg , we finished it in less than 5 minutes! Definitely recommend this place and need to come back!

Yelp
The espresso here is so freaking good. I just opted for an iced latte with almond milk, nothing fancy, and the drink absolutely blew me away. The espresso had a bit of a nutty flavor and the milk was perfectly balanced with the depth of the espresso -- not too milky at all. Wish I lived closer... I would be a local! Only con is there is no bathroom in here and very limited seating, and it is very popular on weekends.
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
I came here recently with my friend to get coffee. There is limited seating-- just some counter seats along the perimeter of the cafe. I had a hot drip coffee and my friend had an iced dirty chai. Both drinks were good!
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Delicious oat milk latte! It's hard to describe, but either the espresso or the oat milk they use has an almost nuttier or umami flavor to it (the closest thing I can say is seaweed for sushi but it doesn't taste like seaweed haha) It's a small and cute shop, with bar seating. Not busy, got my coffee fast. Would recommend!
google avatar

Cherrilyn B.

Yelp
Very cute and welcoming café. There was a cute dog with a patron when I walked in and a few other people seated at the window tables. I actually really enjoyed my iced oat milk Matcha latte and the white chocolate oatmeal cookie was so delicious. Will be returning!!

Richard K.

Yelp
This is maybe my third review ever but I'm compelled to write because Yanni's makes an excellent cup of coffee!. It's amazing how few coffee shops can accomplish this. They even added steamed milk and sugar which never happens. My wife had a latte that she also loved.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
Yanni's is a locally-owned coffee shop in the Chelsea 'hood offers coffee and baked items. I had the mocha with whole milk, extra hot - it could have been more hot, but I enjoyed it so much, that I didn't really mind. This was super delicious, and probably one of the best mochas I've had! Staff could have been more acknowledging in terms of patrons coming in and taking orders; there was a slight lull at the cashier. There are only a handful of seating, but most get their items to go. Great caffeine pick-me-up if you're in the area. +mocha +limited seating

Yelp
My only regret was not getting a cookie with my latte, which was great. It smelled absolutely incredible in there. It's a cozy spot with limited seating. I went at an off time in the afternoon and it was still pretty packed! A little expensive but worth it, and I'll be back again for that chocolate chip.

Claire K.

Yelp
Best coffee and quick service. Dog friendly. Cookies were good too and I would go back every time I'm in NY.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly I was pretty disappointed in my coffee. I'd been wanting to try this place for months, so it's sad to admit. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was just bad. We are talking two extra costs to change the latte to what I wanted it to be and it still tasted bad. The espresso is not good and I don't know what vanilla they out in there but the coffee didn't taste like vanilla and had a horrible after taste. I will not be spending over $7 for a latte here again.
google avatar

Renee R.

Yelp
Really good coffee and even better cookies! Small little spot but i love the little benches outside. Super clean and chill staff
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Ah! I love visiting locally-owned coffee shops and this one is such a cute little place that I will def visit again. Of course I ordered a caramel latte (Starbucks girl here) and the barista nicely explained how they serve theirs and offered me something similar that tasted amazing! I ended up staying to read my book for about 3hrs as I was waiting for a friend to arrive to Chelsea. Really enjoyed doing so, nobody bothered me and though it would get a little loud at times because a group would walk in, the place is actually quite cozy.
google avatar

Alayna K.

Yelp
This cafe is definitely slept on! Loved their coffee, but their choc chip cookie was an absolute SHOWSTOPPER. gooey on the inside and crispy outsides. The coffee shop is a little bit small, I want them to expand their location to a new and bigger one! I love this place and you should definitely try it. The barista's are so sweet and the general Vibe is a nice clean coffee shop with a surprisingly great cookie!
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Small, straight forward clean minimalistic little coffee shop. Their coffee is their focus & they do a fabulous job. I had their iced latte & it was DELISH. High quality beans & knowledgeable at roasting. They have a small selection of bakery items. Service is fast. Staff are courteous & efficient. They have a frequent purchase coffee program with the 12th one gratis. Definitely RECOMMENDED.
google avatar

Shreya B.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop and delicious coffee! Staff was friendly and my only regret is not getting one of their cookies-- will need to come back to try it!

Yelp
A cookie review It was fine, the walnuts bring Nothing to the taste* *choc chip with walnuts cookie, overall very old feeling and lacking in the taste category
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Came here with a friend and our dogs to grab a coffee and cookie. Cute little place, friendly service, cappuccino was stellar, and the white chocolate oatmeal cookie was great. Benches outside to drink coffee, and small seating area on the inside. Would definitely stop by again when I'm in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Tansy W.

Yelp
Got an iced latte for $5.99. It was fine but it didn't wow me and seemed very expensive. I personally prefer bluestone (milk tastes smoother). But I did like that the condiment bar inside had powdered cinnamon and liquid sweetener. They also had a good assortment of pastries including from Balthazar's.
google avatar

Yelp
My coffee maker died this morning so I decided to try this place because of all the good reviews. All I can say is $4 for a medium sized coffee which is low on flavor and very acidic will keep me out of here. I miss my Starbucks across the street which was a casualty of the pandemic. My mind is boggled by the 5 star reviews here. I'm so glad my new coffee maker will be delivered tomorrow. Thanks, Amazon.

Yelp
Was walking around nyc looking for a coffee shop and stumbled across this cute place! We opened the door and it IMMEDIATELY smelled like freshly baked cookies. We got the iced latte and chocolate chip walnut cookie. I am not usually a big walnut fan, but this cookie was delicious.

James M.

Yelp
Unbelievable chocolate walnut cookies. Cappuccinos very good. Served in real glasses.
google avatar

Melanie C.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a coffee and do some work! Was looking for a spot to sit down and do a little work and came across this cafe. Their coffee was really good ( got an iced almond milk latte) and they had a lot of bar style seating with wifi and outlets. Seated is definitely limited so might be hard to snag a seat on the weekend or other busy times. Only got coffee but they had a lot of tasty looking pastries if u want something to snack on as well!
google avatar

Marc R.

Yelp
Walked by this cafe and looked simple and good. WOW. The interior is nice and simple. The menu is also nice and simple. Prices are moderate for the area. Staff are pretty friendly and very quick. The chocolate walnut cookies ARE AMAZING. Baked in house and super fresh. Literally one of the best cookies I've EVER had. The latte I had was pretty good too.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Needed a cup of coffee and something to eat after a doctors appointment nearby. The woman that helped me didn't have any personality and got both my coffees wrong. The cream cheese filled everything pastry was good and the croissant was average. The shop itself was nice and clean but the vibe was lack luster even from the owner. Im in retail so i know there is no such thing as a "off" day you always have to put your best face forward.
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
The best place for an Iced latte in all of Chelsea. If it weren't for the fact that they are usually closed by the I get out of work I'd be here everyday. It's probably for the best though haha. Not to mention that the house made cookies are some of the greatest... I'm not a sweets person but the oatmeal cookies are absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Solid coffees and cookies from Yanni's! I sought refuge in this coffee shop during an INCREDIBLY hot summer day. The iced vanilla latte with oat milk was refreshing and the cookie was sweet, but well balanced. The hefty cookie definitely surprised me with how tasty it was!

Lawson P.

Yelp
My go-to coffee shop. I go here everyday and love it so much. The coffee is always fresh and consistent. They also know a lot about coffee and what they're doing, as I've asked questions on how I could possibly recreate this latte at home. turns out I can't and will be going here everyday till the end of time.
google avatar

Amanda I.

Yelp
Great spot for coffee if you're in the area! I got a cappuccino and a chocolate chip walnut cookie. I came at the perfect time because I saw them bringing out a fresh tray of cookies. The cappuccino was perfectly balanced and my cookie was super gooey and warm on the inside and perfectly crispy on the edges. Service was friendly. Not too much sit down space, but there's a few bar seats along the perimeter.
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
It's a very small cafe with little bar seatings. The coffee is decent and the cookie is the bomb.
google avatar

Neil T.

Yelp
Been looking for a nearby place that matches Coffee Project for sheer quality and, based on the iced latte I had this morning, I think I've found it. One sip and I thought: ah, that's where the 5 stars are coming from. And as someone that uses the 7th Ave Line a fair bit, I have to say that them being right in the middle between 14th and 18th reeeally helps. Good stuff. Go here.
google avatar

Rudy P.

Yelp
Hands down, a perfect mocha latte with almond milk, delivered quickly and with finesse. It was about six or seven, which is of course too much to pay, but it's Chelsea and that's how much lattes cost in Chelsea. Here, you get precisely what you pay for. I will be back the next time I'm in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Mahsa T.

Yelp
This place is so cute!!! Ok the coffee is great as well. I was living nearby for a month to explore the Chelsea area, and this place was a few min walk from my apt. The staff was always welcoming and never too long of a wait. Bonus if you like baked goods, their cookies looked amazing every time and smelled SO good! Too bad I was heading to workout after every time. Prices are normal for the area. Check it out!
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Stopped into this cozy new coffee spot for one of their cookies - homemade, thick, crispy, and doughy at the same time. An incredible and rare balance in a cookie. Also had an Americano which was smooth and a Chai Latte which was so sumptuous, with a cloud of foam at the top. It didn't have that synthetic over-gingered taste of most Chai's. I would definitely get it again. Their white chocolate-oatmeal cookies are incredible - hearty, mountainous, like a filling breakfast treat that's sweet and addictive. And while I'm not even a fan of white chocolate, these have won me over! I could eat two in a row. The owner Yanni is also such a kind, hard-working guy. He left the advertising industry to open his own coffee shop, and it's so great sitting at a table, watching crowds of people scooping up his delicious cookies and coffee. Risks are worth taking. 5 Stars!!!!!

Christopher L.

Yelp
I'll walk a mile for this coffee. Yanni's coffee, in my opinion, is the best I've had in Manhattan in the years of living here. Their sourcing of the best quality coffee in Sey and their consistent attention to detail really shows in their product. The people that work there clearly take pride in what they make and are super friendly. I highly recommend you stop in.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
I did go back here, tried their decaf coffee and their cookies. The coffee was good, but the cookies were the real star of the show. Served warm, too!
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick : A quintessential New York City small local business. Yanni works almost every day (yes he's a real person) to provide incredible coffee and treats. It feels like a local community business because that's exactly what it is. Go soon, go often, and make sure to tip! It's an incredible spot that has taken every precaution to make sure we are safe during this crazy time. PS the cold brew is my favorite! They have every type of non dairy vegan plant based milk alternative. Plus pastries from Balthazar!
google avatar

Jay V.

Yelp
This place is exactly what it says it is. Coffee Cookies Staff The only problem when the place is limited seating, but I can see why they haven't expanded the seating to pre-pandemic levels. Go for the chocolate chip walnut cookies, and you won't care about the limited seating!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
The vegan chocolate chip walnut cookie is pretty dang good. Cute local coffee shop serving up solid coffee, homemade cookies, and other pastries from Balthazar. I tried the flat white with oat milk and it was great.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Yanni has been open and I'm grateful for it! The cold brew is amazing. I also recently had a chocolate chip walnut cookie, and it was excellent. Hopefully they'll be able to start stocking more pastries again soon as NYC slowly begins to open up!
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and cookies -- What could be better? This is my go-to coffee spot in Chelsea. They seem to switch out their coffee beans semi regularly and every kind has been great so far. In addition to coffee, they sell pastries from Balthazar and fresh cookies. I would highly recommend the vegan chocolate walnut cookie -- You wouldn't even know it's vegan.
google avatar

Priscilla T.

Yelp
I only get the Chai Latte with oat milk (hot or iced) here but it's seriously hard to find a good one! Good level of spice, the right level of sweetness, and a nice smooth mix. Cute spot inside although no indoor dining for now.
google avatar

Gaby L.

Yelp
i love yanni's! an awesome neighborhood spot that has delicious cookies and lattes. not a spot to really get work done as its pretty small but i love it a lot
google avatar

Peyton T.

Yelp
Best coffee I've ever had. I got a cold brew with almond milk. The coffee has a slight natural sweetness and fruitiness. Amazing
google avatar

Miranda F.

Yelp
FYI little to no seating (as with many NY coffee establishments. But decent coffee, if that's all you're looking for.

Blake M.

Yelp
Favorite coffee shop! Delicious coffee, Balthazar pastries, and homemade cookies- yum! Lovely and efficient staff. Small indoor space but beautifully designed and light-filled, 2 benches out front for extra seating.
google avatar

Allison N.

Yelp
So good! I came in here because of the reviews and was immediately welcomed by a gentleman who was pouring coffee with a smile. The coffee was great -- not burnt tasting like Starbucks, which is right down the street. The vibe is more welcoming than your average coffee shop and the service is so friendly, which really puts it over the top for me. I'll be back the next time I'm in New York!

Kurt Y.

Yelp
Best coffee in the area. Great staff, and the pastries that they get are fantastic too
